Ceebs - that is very heartening to hear about your sister's children (apologies to ur sis tho!). There is hope for us with 'non-eaters except when they feel like it' yet! They'll be eating us out of house and home before we know it!

Hello again all, back from Brownies, what have I missed?
ChocO - its under buggysnuggles, the one in bright rainbow stripes. And I've never heard of anyone worrying that the bump was too active, mine seems most active when I'm listening to the relaxation CD, or maybe its just cos I pay most attention to bump then
Thanks for the link Pinky, the cow print one is cute
Autumn - I would recommend a bouncy or rocking chair, DH was surprised how much time DS spent in his. We got one which lays flat and then you adjust the angle as they get older, it s on rockers but has little feet to keep it steady if you prefer.
Daisy - I'm watching your nappies with interest

ceebee74 · 07/07/2008 20:13

Sparkle - it does give me hope although I have to bite my tongue about her other grandchildren when my mum makes pointed comments about DS's lack of eating. Tbh, it gets worse when we eat with other people like my parents, so they only see the worst, as he just starts showing off and chucking food around - I just think he is just not that into food, which like Merry says, is frustrating as me and DH are very much foodies so it is completely alien to us!!

Oh, btw, I also have a copy of the GF book if anyone wants it - it wasn't for me either, I much preferred the Baby Whisperer but it is going free to a good home

Also, those of you asking about HM2J, she has posted recently on the other thread and she is fine, just very busy atm

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 20:19

I'm looking for a little baby seat, manily > to put on the kitchen table whiilst I'm cooking. NOT RECOMMENDING this to anyone, it's very naughty and I only do it when baby is very small.

WE had a hand me down one, but it's worn out now. I have a baby bjorn 13 babysitter- which is absolutlely fab- will have to prize DD out of it when baby comes, it bounces beautifully with baby's movements and lasts way into toddlerdom.

But can anyone recommend a cheap onne that amybe rocks a bit that isn't so long at the base, for my highly illegal kitchen table thing?

Yorky- In noticed that the buggsnuggle site has some babysnuggles in the slae section

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 20:22

ceebie- I really feel for you with the eating thing. My dC's never eat very well when gariine is about because she badgers them the whole time, who could possibly enjoy a meal with someone montoring their every mouthhfful?

It's really hard sometimes if they don't eat, DS will eat anything, but DD is much more selective and I find it hard, especially as DS is like a hoover,it magnifies the whole thing so much more.

Dozy / Hana / Pinky can someone please explain about the slings, I feel I am missing something. Why are they so important / complicated that they have sling shows and sling meets?? [confused emoticon]

BTW - Nicole Kidman just had a baby girl and called it Sunday Rose...

Pinky / Bubbaz 36G?!?! mine haven't changed at all - still a 34C. Although they do seem fuller.

Dozymare · 07/07/2008 20:23

not that I advocate putting babies in chairs on top of surfaces either - but a BUMBO is fantastic as it doesn't move qwhen baby rocks/bounces........

you can pick them up 2nd hand on here or nappyvalley for about £10....

Yorky · 07/07/2008 20:26

Hope you get a bit of you time this evening Dozy, maybe your batteries just need a bit of a boost after the weekend Hugs
Drswife, or anyone else, if you want to borrow a copy of New Active Birth by J Balaskas (great on homebirth) or Birth at Home by Sheila Kitzinger (Old but good) or Natural Baby also by J Balsaskas (attatchment childled parenting) I'd be happy to lend them around
Autumn - I also meant to say that we didn't bother with the vibrating option, but friends have sworn by its baby soothing abilities

sparkletoes · 07/07/2008 20:29

Ceebs - SNAP! My DS did exactly that tonight in fact as parents were down cos their kitchen getting re-done. I will rest even easier now... and just wait we'll be the smug ones soon enough!

I have a babysnuggle too they are great!

Also got loads of use out of our bouncy chair with DS he loved it and had to weaned off!!

(whispers) I'm afraid I was even worse Pinky and put the bouncy chair on the kitchen table on occasion, but only when DS was small enough to lift on there.... Ok I get the bad mother label now, s'alright I can handle it!!

Slings are like prams, you have to have one that does what you need, and there are loads out there. Trying before you buy might help you not turn into one of the MN pram gurus who have bought one of each sort before finding they didn't like it. They aren't that important, unless thats a lifestyle choice you make. Sunday Rose? not on my shortlist!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 20:32

Never did well with the bumbo- DS bumbo was too big! lol he alsways got stuck, and DD just rolled out of it. ebayyed it.

I mean a little newborn seat, for when they are tiny. I had a swing seat I borrowed from my brother, but that's moved on now and it tool up loads of room. I don't fancy carting the baby bjorn seat from room to room.

RE slings- the main thing is there are soo many to choose from. I would avoid the baby crrier types like the plague. I like wraparounds best, but I have a podaegi which is good. RIng slings are popular, but they don't last as long. You can get very simple wrap-looking slings that are two loops off cloth you cross over. But iif you go to a sling library, you can try them out and fine the preffect one for you.

choco-wind your neck in, girl I used to be a 34c!! One day I may be again..who knows!

misdee · 07/07/2008 20:34

Am going for a Moby or Moby D sling for bubs i had one with dd3 and loved it.

Am stil ltrying to decide on the moses basket or crib dilemma. but thats only if the cot wont fit in my room. am swaying mroe towards the crib now.

Am looking for a nice baby blanket, but cant find anything girly thats not pink. and would prefer to avoid pink if possible.

sparkletoes · 07/07/2008 20:36

Choco - just told DH Nicole's s choice of name and he said 'SUNDAY ROAST!!!' LOL! not on my list ether but each to their own. My italian great aunt was called Domenica (which is Sunday in Italian) so I suppose...

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 20:37

I make baby blankets, misdee! I use minky fleece on one side and then whatever nice designer fabrics I have on the other. They have a little pocket on the front with a rabbit or cat dolly made with the same fabrics. Shameless plug

sparkletoes · 07/07/2008 20:38

Oooh Misdee I nearly bought a baby blanket from Bloomin Marv yesterday it was bamboo and looked luurvely and soft...

Hi everyone. I haven't been on here for a few days and I'm sorry but I just can't keep up with all the messages.

I had my 20 week scan on Friday and I'm pleased to report that everything is as it should be and IT'S A BOY. We are so happy about this as we already have a little girl.

From my quick skim read through it seems that there are more boys than girls. Is that right?

Yorky · 07/07/2008 20:52

Piny, your blankets sound lovely but I felt I had to mention that DS Godparents got him a fleece blanket with his name embroidered in the corner which is nice. He got the cream one with gold writing for his Christening but they do colours other than pink!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 20:55

fab news lousie- congratulations!

MIsdee- I'll email you in a bit. I need to upload some more samples to my site, but my broadband still isn't right- it's terminally slow...

lackaDAISYcal · 07/07/2008 21:28

Congrats on your baby boy Louise and glad that all is well.

I'm lolling at you watching my nappies with interest Yorky...you will be aware of just how shitty they are at the moment then

I've also just had an email from the people who only sent one nappy. There have obviously been complaints to M&B about it as they say another four of each type are on their way

i can't keep up with you lot today...this thread is moving so fast at the minute!

ChocOrange05 · 07/07/2008 22:00

sparkle I just LOL'ed at your DH saying Sunday Roast - I wonder if they've thought of that!!

I think I am going to have to do some more sling research! There sounds like a lot out there!

Congrats Louise on your successful scan.

Pinky can you tell us your site as I'd like to have a look too.

Dozymare · 08/07/2008 06:53

Morning All,

sunday roast!!!!!!!!!!!!! love it! That is very funny indeed!

All this talk about slings is making me think I have missed a trick - despite this being my 3rd baby! I had a baby Bjorn with DS1 but really didn't get on with it at all - think we used it 3x before ebaying it......don't really see anyone using them around here but seems as if they have got very popular as there is a whole culture of sling shows and sling cafes (the things you learn on MN naturally!) can you enlighten me - do you use instead of buggys, what about your backs and how long do you sling for????

I am feling better today (thanks for all the love yesterday) but just shattered - my 2 definately have "END OF TERM-ITIS" and are driving me mad.......roll on the holidays is what i say!!!!

for those of you who are buying school uniform for the first time or indeed updating it - M+S are doing 3 for 2 on everything......eg 3 pairsd of cotton shorts for £8! I find that the quality is much better and lasts longer than the other supermarkets which tend to do polyester everything (no good for my boys skin).

Off out to a friends for lunch today which I am looking forward to, haven't seen her for a while!

Does anyone know how late you can fly PG - will I be able to fly Sept????

DM xx

Yorky · 08/07/2008 07:48

Glad things are feeling better today Dozy, end-of-term-itis is no fun, my mum still gets it and she's a teacher!
Good luck for the holidays.
No idea about flying while pg, sorry. How many weeks will you be, and where do you want to go?
