auntyspan · 27/06/2008 22:12

Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

dinny your 7 weeks!!

starshine you're not alone!! I have been shattered for a month now...I have taken to napping in my car at lunch its that bad, and on the verge of tears somethimes!

boobz I am not drinking at all, but before i got pg I would have had maybe 1 drink every few months anyway...I'm not a big drinker! But I have had to give up smoking, so I haven't got off scot free!

dinny · 21/07/2008 14:33

8 weeks tomorrow, Emma?

SS, how totally rubbish - yes, get an Im!

emma2617 · 21/07/2008 14:36

dinny no, 7 weeks tomorrow according to my maths!!

Mandy73 · 21/07/2008 15:45

Hi all, sorry I've not been around, just got rid of second couple of house guests in a week and done all the washing [shattered emoticon].

Lobster thinking of you. Any news? xx

Welcome all newbies & congratulations!
I hope everyone's feeling OK.

Just been to see GP, she was lovely, good advice & opportunity to ask questions. Didn't sign anything. Should be seeing community midwife & going to hospital for dating scan in about 4 weeks (I'm 6 weeks now according to her, I thought 5 + 3. Gawd knows how they work these things out).

Boobz I've had the odd 1/2 glass of bubbly since finding out, GP said no problem, but I've been feeling guilty about it so no more for me.

spottycat · 21/07/2008 18:32

Hi all, Sunshine, I totally sympathise with that. When I went to see my GP (first time I had met him) we had a bit of a language problem, but once I'd managed to explain to him that I was pregnant he gave me a big hug, said he was sure I would have a beautiful baby, took my blood pressure and said that I would live for a long, long time, gave me another hug and sent me away. Quite a good reaction from an elderly uncle perhaps, but not quite what I was expecting from my GP!!

I've now gone independent, and have had a six week scan for dating, and a first round of blood tests. Part of the reason I've had these so early is that they think I'm going to be risky (I'm small, dodgy cervix, family history of pre-term birth etc), not just because I am paying for them, but it is reassuring.

firstduemarch09 · 21/07/2008 19:03

Just home from SW and lost 1 lb - can't think how - I'm too picky at the moment and seem not to be able to stomach healthy food! Thanks for the Nairns oat cake suggestion with stem ginger they seem to stave off the nausea at work and are only 2 syns each!!!

My letter from hospital arrived today. First thing since the GP appt 3 weeks ago! My first appt with midwife is 20th August. Presume she'll do everything then and scan(?) too - it doesn't say.

Also they run an early pregnancy clinic on first Tues of the month in the evening to ask any questions - I'll go to that - I've got loads!

LobstersLass · 21/07/2008 19:44

Hi Mandy, thanks for thinking of me.

See my post of 10:52:06 today.

It's all over, but I have a rather fab GP who is breaking all kinds of rules for me!

Mandy73 · 21/07/2008 20:03

Oh LobsterLass I'm so sorry - wasn't 100% sure it was sad news . You're sounding v brave & positive, I really admire that. xx

LobstersLass · 21/07/2008 20:42

Hey Mandy it's ok.

Last time I put on a brave face and felt dreadful in my heart for weeks, then got very upset about 6 weeks after the event. Not healthy.

This time I was absolutely hysterical on Saturday night. My dh was an absolute star and I'm feeling very much better for letting it all out. Very grim for him to witness it but he understood that it was better in the long term. He's being a tower of strength. God he's wonderful!

Hopefully I'll be back on one of these threads before the end of the year. xx

HopingCat · 21/07/2008 21:05

Lobsterlass you sound like you are handling this really well, which is very healthy. Glad your DH is being so supportive and that your GP is helping not hindering.

HopingCat · 21/07/2008 21:08

Dinny - you asked about when sickness ends. I've always been told that once placenta is working fully (12 weeks) you'll feel better and start blooming. I felt ill til 17 weeks last time, but I did eventually get to the blooming phase. Some people only feel ill for a few weeks, and I really hope I'm one of them, and you too. You are def 7 weeks pn Tues, coz I'm 7 weeks on Wednesday and my last af was 4th June.

HC

sadiemcgradie · 21/07/2008 22:16

Fearless Freak - not sure doing everything (relaitonship/baby/moving in/kitchen situation) was very good for our mental health though!

Feeling very very tired and finding my DD quite hard to cope with at the mo delightful as she is - wondering how I will manage when I have the both of them. I can see this coming year will be quite testing but I musn't complain as didn't think I would ever get pregnant again - so I am aiming to hold on to that thought.

calsworld · 21/07/2008 22:52

Hi all, mind if I tentatively join you? I got a BFP today although not really sure of EDD as cycles have been all over the place but as far as I can make out its between the 17th and 21st of March. I think I OV'd on CD24, today is CD42! Though it was only a faint'ish BFP so will be doing another test to convince myself make sure in the morning!

Hi, to playing, ceedub, auntyspan, starshine, nomorenappies and GYo as fellow graduates from the same TTC thread! Not bad going for one month ladies!

Hopingcat - I think I might have been in the same AN group as you first time round? I have a DS now nearly 20 months - I was in the Nov 06 and Dec 06 threads, DS was born on his EDD of 1st Dec?

Anyway, best scoot off to bed, its taken me all evening to read through! I'll just do a quick re-post of the list too, if that's OK?

NattyPlusTwo · 22/07/2008 00:17

gosh had a few hectic days.
looks like everyone has already been to their doctors.
maybe i should make an appointment tomorrow then. am i the only one not to call the docs straight away? maybe being a third time mums makes me a little blase about it, i just hate hospitals and doctors. im having this one at home, no chance im going near a hospital again. tried it twice for my hubbys sake, this time im staying put.

anyone else getting a bit tubby? i think my tummy is retaining water, i feel heavy and bloated. fat feet too.. maybe i need to lay off the coke.. must drink more water!

well its late everyone is probally sleeping so i will sign off and try and get on here tomorrow.

ta ta!

winemakesmummyclever · 22/07/2008 09:07

Morning all - congrats to all those who got their bfp over the weekend .

Still feeling absolutely pants - have lost a few pounds due to lack of appetite mainly. Dh made a fab curry last night but was too sickly to try it .

Am also knackered as ds was poorly yesterday evening and ended up in our bed at 2 am. Am going to slope off back to bed in a bit before tackling the mountain of housework that has been ignored all weekend.

Have been trying to keep myself/dh/ds occupied in order to ignore the ms. Perhaps the trip up to the occasionally "fragrant" Martin Mere bird park was not a good idea though with the superhero style sense of smell I have at the mo .

Still no appt re 12 wk scan (should be around mid August)and I saw the mw ages ago. Finding the waiting v hard this time round. She did say if I was really worried that, given my history, we could report a few niggles and get an EPU scan. I know ahe means well, but I don't want to take that appt away from someone who really needs it and also don't want to tempt fate. Guess I'll have to be patient.

Hope everyone has a good day .

auntyspan · 22/07/2008 09:24

Great to see you and congrats!!

I had a full 8 hours last night which has done me the world of good..... DD is having night terrors or something at the moment and is constantly waking up and screaming so unbroken sleep is a rarity!

I don't know about anyone else - but I'm earth shatteringly tired most of the time... I have bursts of energy but they are few and far between!! My morning sickness is morning noon and night too

i want to go back to bed!

OP posts:
emma2617 · 22/07/2008 09:56

auntyspan me too!! Sooo unbelievably tired! I have had to start taking naps in my car at lunch and I have even booked Wednesday afternoon off as holiday so I can have a nice long nap!!

the people at work who know (3 of them!) don't seem to understand though...they are telling me to get out of the habit of napping, and I have tried to explain to them but there are no words to describe it!

My MS is very on and off, some days I feel really sick, other days I just don't feel quite right! I have only actually been sick once though!!

I am not coping very well with being home alone either, so far my routine is get in from work, have a nap, wake up, cry, have something to eat, cry again, go back to sleep! And I keep getting angry with DP for being away, even though I know it this new job important for us both (in a month or 2 he could be earning £1000-£2000 a month in bonuses which would be a healthy addition to our baby fund!) Oh I am just a whinging hormonal cow...somebody stop me!!

CaptainKarvol · 22/07/2008 09:58

morning all, sympathies for all those of you suffering with morning sickness. I'm still waiting for mine to start, but just to make life better I have a really, really dreadful cold and of course I can't take any decongestants. Grrrr.

Nattyplustwo I am so looking tubby - I've already been asked once if I'm expecting. My trousers are tight around my tummy, and I tried on an empire line top this morning and looked like I was in full maternity wear (got changed pretty quickly). And I'm only 5 weeks - not 5 months! Is this how things are once you've already had one? Have my tummy muscles given up already!?

Playingthe9monthwait · 22/07/2008 10:10

Morning all,

Cal - so glad you made it over.

Aunty - yep I am knackered despite going to bed early every night for the past week or two. I also now seem to have almost constant nausea, which improves slightly when I eat but I struggle to keep eating even though afterwards it makes me feel a bit better at the time it feels awful. Haven't actually been sick yet (had a few close calls) but am finding it very hard to sit at my desk and do anything resembling work. If I keep having to eat through this nausea I am going to put on far too much weight when I really shouldn't. I Also want to go back to bed!

auntyspan · 22/07/2008 10:14

re: napping at lunchtime. I would LOVE to nap at lunchtime. Ignore your colleagues!!

I've put 3lb on so far, which is great for me as I'd put half a stone on this time in my first pg! Definitely bigger boobs, and definitely bigger waist. Not sure if its water retention, but yes I think after your first baby your muscles just give up very quickly!

emma don't worry about feeling pathetic - it will pass! I started blubbing on the train this morning - I was listening to my ipod and a really slushy song came on

OP posts:
Mandy73 · 22/07/2008 11:34

Nattyplustwo & CaptaonCarvol same here! Total jelly belly all of a sudden (well it was never modelesque ) and the wobble is high up, almost like the expanding womb has shifted it all up. Lower belly's pretty flat & hard really, with a little curve.

Waves to everyone, welcome Calsworld!

Mandy73 · 22/07/2008 11:36

sorry it's CaptainCarvol of course

MavisGrind · 22/07/2008 11:48

auntyspan we sound in the same boat. Ds woke up every 45 minutes last night, poor love is teething and I think night terrors are making an appearance too. Have to say it's pretty good training for looking after a newborn!

Feeling sicky on and off today. Went to my exercise class although had to keep scoffing crystalised ginger to ward off the ms.

Hope everyone has a good day - I'm off for an early night!
