Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

I spent a lot of it on this forum. My husband doesn't know whether to be happy it isn't, at least, the Strictly Come Dancing forum.

Yes, I am that sad.

Also thought of a new name if it was a boy.... Madis. I work with a Madis and it really suits him. Mad for short (he's Canadian though).

ooo my referral just came through from hospital! Blood tests on 13th August and Nuchal Translucency scan on 18th August.

Man that is ages away!

emma2617 · 21/07/2008 10:46

boobz how long did it take you to get your appointment through...from fillig in all the paperwork at the docs? I only did mine on tuesday when according to the docs i was already 8 weeks, im a little worried all my appointments are going to be late!

LobstersLass · 21/07/2008 10:52

Thanks for all your lovely comments ladies. Just to let you know what's happened this morning...

I've just come back from the GP. She was fabulous. I'm going for the usual scan and bloods tomorrow, BUT... she has referred me to a Consultant.

She's decided it's ridiculous to wait for this to happen again and seeing as I'm 35 then two miscarriages is quite enough.

What a terrific no-nonsense approach. Just my kind of woman! Hurrah for fabulous GPs.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 11:07

Hi Lobster - I'm so glad you had a supportive and helpful gp, they are so rare! Let us know how the scan goes, I am sure we will all be thinking of you.

Boobz, thats exciting. I have my blood tests on the 30th July but am still waiting for my scan apt. The midwife is doing the bloods at our local birthing unit, so the scan is done somewhere else, so I suppose I will just have to wait for and aot to turn up.

Emma - what paperwork at the docs? Didn't do any with my gp. The midwife did loads with me last week when I saw her though.

Boobz · 21/07/2008 11:12

Lobster - good to see you so positive... come back and tell us what the consultant says.

Emma, I didn't fill out any paperwork... I just said I'd done a test and it was positive, and he asked when my last period was... I said I wasn't sure as they are so irregular, but end of May I believe... and he said, "congrats, you're 8 weeks pregnant!"

Am not so sure I am that far gone though, as am pretty sure we conceived at end of June.

I went to doc's on Monday last week and it came this morning so 7 days exactly.

Tres excited.

emma2617 · 21/07/2008 11:19

Did you not have to sign anything? I had to sign this form which the doc sends off then i get contacted by MW and hospital, hopefully i should get something this week...all this waiting is doing my head in!! I know, pregnancy is one big wait, but hey, i intend to be frustrated by it for the full 9 months!

How exciting...everyone is having their bloods/scans booked in...i cant wait!

Boobz · 21/07/2008 11:22

Nope, no forms, no mention of MW. Just said the hospital would be in touch.

Am really confused as to how pregnant I am, and am now worried that Nucal scan will be too early to see anything. Can anyone help me out? If I think I conceived on 25th June, how pregnant would I be by August 18th when scan is scheduled? And, if it's less than 12 weeks, does that mean the scan wouldn't pick anything up at all?

MavisGrind · 21/07/2008 11:27

Lobster - so very sorry. Take care of yourself.

Feeling pretty sicky and really tired today.

I won't even be going to see my GP until I'm passed 9 weeks as I'm still out of the country so heaven knows when I'll get a scan booked in. I've emailed my HV to see if she can sneak me onto the midwife's books before I get back!

Hope everyone is feeling ok today. I'm off to bed soon - may just have one more piece of toast before I go..

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 11:34

Its funny how every are seems to work differently.

Boobz, thats strange what you gp said. CD1 (first day of period) for me was 30th May and I am officially 7 + 5. Now in reality I am probably more like 7 + 2/1 because I do not have 28 day cycles and never ov on CD14. Still I figure that their figures only put me 3/4 days ahead so in the end won't make much difference and the dating scan will put it back.

However, I would be worried about being over a week out. If you really did ov on the 25th then you are just under 6 weeks, which is 2 weeks less than your gp said. Thsi could make a difference to your scan. The nuchal fold scan can be done between 11-13 weeks.

So if you are only 6 weeks you might only be 10 weeks at your scan which could be a bit early. It might be worth ringing up the hospital saying you can't make it and getting a scan for the end of that week/beginning of the following week. But you need to be pretty sure about your dates.

Boobz · 21/07/2008 11:43

Hi Playing... thanks for the advice.

To be honest, I really haven't got a scooby. I came off the pill in mid May and didn't have a period then (so last known period is probably April?!) and we started having sex straight away (I mean, continued to have sex... but now with no pill)

I did a pregnancy test when I got back off holiday on July 1st and it was negative. Did another one on July 14th and it was positive.

I am going away on business after the 18th so don't want to put it back if I can help it, but do you think if I am only 10 weeks then it's pointless? Can they not see anything -- heart beat or owt?

A

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 11:47

Boobz - i wouldn't say its pointless. They will be able to see a heart beat and everything it is just possible they may not be able to do the nuchal fold. As you're not sure I would keep the scan.

Boobz · 21/07/2008 11:54

Ah -- the Down's test? Ok, I think I understand now. Will keep date in as it is I think.

MKG · 21/07/2008 12:11

Good morning ladies!!

Lobsterlass- I'm so sorry

Boobz--You can do the nuchal any time between 11 and 13 weeks, but you have to have the bloods with it to get more accurate results.

All is good on my side of the pond. I've got my midwife appointment next week. I can't wait. It will make everything so much more real. Oh the idea of getting all those blood tests done. Last time it was 19 viles to do all the tests.

MKG · 21/07/2008 12:13

Have to add that if the results of the downs test don't matter to you, than there isn't a real point to the nuchal test. I'm thinking of skipping mine, but then again it's another chance to see the bean.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 12:30

Hi MKG - glad things are going well on your side of the pond. I'm with you on the nuchal scan thing, only really doing it to get a scan, wouldn't bother with an amnio or consider abortion, it will just be nice to get the scan!

Boobz · 21/07/2008 12:46

This is my first pregnancy, so any chance to see the baby is worth it, to me. If I am less pregnant than either the doc or I think, then I will get another one done for the Nuchal fold test a few weeks later.

HopingCat · 21/07/2008 12:51

It's strange how different health authorities do different things. I'm in Lancashire and didn't see midwife til 11 weeks last time to have bloods done and fill in paperwork. I'm assuming it will be same this time. Have a lot of you already seen midwife? And have you completed your big green booklet that you have to carry with you for last trimester? (you'll know what I mean if you've got one) Only good thing about our midwives is they come to your house to do booking in appointment. Mine actually came on Easter Sunday last time!

HC

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 13:05

I saw the midwife last week Hoping (offically 7 weeks on the day of apt). No idea how it normally works here as this is my first. Was given loads of leaflets and a folder with my own notes although no big green book whatever that is. Am having my bloods taken next week as MW said it was too early last week, can't do them till at least 8 weeks apparently. TBH I am surprised how quickly I saw the MW but it is really nice to know that if I have any problems I now know who she is and have her contact details.

Boobz · 21/07/2008 13:51

Has everyone here completely given up alcohol now? Or limiting yourself to the 1-2 units, once or twice a week?

Starshinetiger · 21/07/2008 13:54

Hi all, Lobster - sorry to hear your news - glad you have a great GP.
Sorry I don't get a chance to post very often.
Is anyone else absolutely worn out?! I could sleep for the rest of the day and night I think . Am also starting to get waves of nausea - probably linked to tiredness. And I still have 3.5 hours of work to get through (and that's just what I need to do for my hours, not what I need to do to get things done).
At this rate, I may well end up telling my new manager before I'm 12 weeks. Have appt to see GP on Friday and then supposedly first appt with MW is at 8-10 weeks. It is odd how it is different everywhere.
Ah well, had best get on with some work.
Have a good afternoon all.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 14:00

Boobz - yep givne up completely for now. Once out of first trimester may have the odd glass if I really fancy one but will try to avoid where possible.

Star - me. I am so knackered and I feel shit and sick, although I still haven't actually been sick. I've told my boss, I had to really, I'm doing such a crap job at work, just sitting here trying not to be ill and counting down the hours till I go home.

dinny · 21/07/2008 14:02

so sorry to hear your news, Lobsterlass, glad your GP sounds on the ball - all the very best to you

am feeling dreadful, nearly sick in Tesco earlier plus kids are off with bug! argh, when does nausea stop, can't rememeber...

ceedub · 21/07/2008 14:02

Hi everyone,

Lobsterlass, am so sorry to hear your sad news, though good that you've at least got a sensible, sympathetic GP.

Am having a little break in france at the moment...surrounded by fabulous cheese and seafood I can't eat and lovely wine...oh well, there's always next year! Have mum here, so can't even sneak a cheeky half glass...

also, put bikini on and couldn't believe how big my boobs have grown! Hope they don't get much bigger or they'll need their own postcode!! Back home on Wednesday, have booking-in with midwife on thursday. Should I expect blood tests? (am a total wimp, will need to mentally prepare myself)

dinny · 21/07/2008 14:04

yes, my boobs have suddenly gone HUGE too, feel like a matronly old bag!

yes, you do have bloods at booking - sorry!

can't remember if am 7 or 8 weeks now, can someone work it out for me (LMP 3 June) - am brain deprived!

SunshineSmith · 21/07/2008 14:10

Saw my GP on Friday.

No midwife in my surgery until October- she is on holidays until then. No replacement midwife.

GP- said she will do paperwork to sort scan and blood tests at hospital.

No advice on anything, diet, lifestyle NOTHING!

She also warned me that the hospital where I'd like to give birth is been turning away women who came to give birth to hospitals further away.

Me thinks is time to book an independent midwife.

My GP just blamed the NHS system and reminded me that my appointed was just for 10 minutes. She very politely kicked me out when I wanted to recap how the whole process.

GRRRR!
