Lets hope it's not too long before everyone is hatched and milking season is in full swing!

Phew, that's ok Laura I was a bit worried for a minute. I know what you mean about 'dour' scots though - we're either 'dour' or potrayed as knife wielding alky's on the bill or eastenders!

Thanks for all the empathy on the stretch marks. I think I'm going to trade in my full length mirror for a head only one post baby . I would definitely say that I've gained tiger thighs with this pg (which I've still to come to terms with), but whoever mentioned the faded puberty ones, you are so right and lets hope these ones go the same way. I'll be trying every lotion and potion known to mankind!

Laura I've also bought a few bits and pieces in the summer sales for post baby - but have kept the receipts just in case! Dont have any weddings till late August/early September so will wait a while before I go dress shopping.

I've now got 4 weddings in 3 1/2 months, though can wear same outfit to all of them as no overlap of guests!

I like my bathroom mirror best as it's head only. my friend has an 11 month old and she said she thought she would never wear a bikini again, but her SMs have faded to almost nothing - hope springs eternal eh!

bitofadramaqueen · 01/07/2008 16:02

Oh that's good Laura. I have a spare wardrobe full of wedding outfits, all in various sizes but no idea if any of them will fit, so will just have to wait and see.

Deb sorry to hear about your 'plumbing' problems - hope the flooding stops soon. No experience obviously, but it sounds pretty typical of mother nature!

Am pretty knackered now, having spent the afternoon with a friend and two small children in the sunshine. Cup of tea and chocolate biscuit called for I think

Back from antenatal. Doc couldn't really do the sweep, as cervix pretty unreachable (I could have told him that!) so I have a appointment on Friday for another go and a scan - he was ok at the moment about not going for induction, but I suspect that could be a different story on Friday. Agree with whoever said about the EDD - I have 3 possible dates - unfortunately, they are now all in the past!

I had a CTG and everything was fine, monster v v active - probably a bit narked with all the prodding around. He's not engaged yet - bit further down, but that's it.

I've luckily escaped stretchmarks, but expecting them any time - I have old teenage ones, which are slightly more noticeable at present, but normally unnoticeable. DQ, I agree it would be a bummer to get them right at the end.

I don't think Andy Murray is attractive at all!!! Just not dour. Yes, Scots are pretty much stereotyped on tv, although I don't think stuff like Taggart, or the so-called comedy that is churned out helps.

Am v glad that I have no weddings to go to in the next few months! I would advise big accessories and fab shoes ladies!

Right, pineapple and ball bouncing for me - might try the breast pump too...

LauraT · 01/07/2008 16:23

whinegums have they scanned to ensure that there is no reason that monster hasn't engaged yet (eg fibroids?) or is the one on friday for this reason?

the bloody stadium developers have been pile driving even more incessantly today - thought they'd finished as I hadn't heard it for a few days, then realised it had been the weekend, and I was out all day yesterday When they weren't at it the lady across the road decided to cut her (very long) hedge with an electric trimmer - starting at 8.30. my head hurts.

whinegums · 01/07/2008 16:35

Laura, I had my last scan at around 24 weeks I think - detailed ultrasound, because I had some high risk blood results - and everything was fine. I don't think I have fibroids - never thought of anything like that to be honest. I just think he's taking his time. I guess the scan at the appointment on Friday would show up anything that's stopping him getting out. I thought it was to check fluid levels and placenta. Oh well.

Sorry to hear it's been noisy around yours again. Why do people insist on doing DIY/noisy tasks first thing in the morning!!!

bitofadramaqueen · 01/07/2008 17:01

whinegums - sorry no joy on the sweep front. I'm having a scan on Friday too - what time's yours?

Empathy on the noise front Laura, there is nothing worse than building noise. I was woken by lawnmowers at 8am this morning (not any earnest neighbours, just whoever does the communal areas). There are now 4 children screeching the street down, and have been doing so for the last hour. I wouldn't mind normal kids playing outside noise, but these particular kids operate at much higher decibels than I thought was possible. Grrrr.

Huge sympathies for all those mums in waiting, I wish you all speedy labours and soon!

Sophie - glad it;'s not just me

Laura T - will you be able to bfeed in your dress?

My sil's wedding is in 3 weeks - AARGH!!!! I had forgotten how huge I would be, have looked for a dress in our nearest town but choice is limited, especially for the size of me so I think I'll have to brave Salzburg - not looking forward to trying on dresses tbh but I can't go as I am at the moment - stretchy t shirts and maternity trousers!!Or I might get a top and skirt but I really did want a dress, getting one of the net isn't an option because of the need to try it on. Wish I had a fairy godmother

thegreenfairy · 01/07/2008 17:35

sa I reckon the feeding partly gets easier as they get bigger and you can handle them more confidently. Storm was so little when she was born and it was really hard to get her to latch on. As she gets bigger and her neck muscles get stronger she seems to find it easier and I find manoeuvering her much easier too.

debs re the bleeding - this happened to me at about two weeks. My community MW said it often happens as you recover from the birth and get more active - triggers greater loss. Mine seems to be properly slowing now after 4wks2days. Thank the lord. I hate it soooooo much.
Also, re the dress. Can you stand to wait a week before buying? My weight/ tum seemed to reduce gradually until week three when everything basically pinged back almost overnight - before then I thought I'd never be the same again, but now basically back to pre-preggy plus half a stone. Maybe it would be a more bearable experience in a week or so also?

Storm has been sleeping a lot today so bracing myself for a wakeful night, but at least she seems pretty content.

laura and the rest of the waiters - may the force be with you! Immediately after the birth I was so f*ed I pretty much wanted to go back to being pregnant! But four and a bit weeks on feel much more settled into 'family life' and not so sleep deprived and glad that bits over. Hope you don't have much longer.

whinegums · 01/07/2008 17:38

DQ - 10am - will have to get up 'early' for the first time in weeks! Sympathies re the noisy kids. There was one kid going nuts at the antenatal clinic this afternoon - really shouting and making a racket, and it wasn't like he was a tot either...

goingfor3 · 01/07/2008 18:48

thegreenfairy very of you on the weight front. I lost 13kgs by the time ds was 5 days old, he's six weeks today and I weigh exactley the same as I did when he was five days old!!! I had my 6 week check today and the dr said some women retain their weight when they are breastfeeding, I told her I would be delousinal if I thought that because I know I've been stuffing my face with cake!!!!!

Rolf · 01/07/2008 19:05

Laura - I was skimming the recent posts and i initially thought yours was about ladygarden maintenance (not gardening).

No idea what I weigh but know it's very very bad. Still look quite pregnant and the boys are telling me I'm still fat.

sophiewd · 01/07/2008 19:17

Rant alert -

after 4 years of great families staying this year we seem to constantly be getting parents who think its OK for their young children to run riot late at night or early in morning (6 ish this morning) I tell them there are other guests but they seem to have no respect for that at all. We have had no problems with them under 1 but just betwen about 18 months and 4. It is getting to th epoint that we are thinking of having an age minimum which I don't want to do but I am getting fed up of stressful stays and constantly apologising to other guests on others behalfs. Rant over.

Sarahpo · 01/07/2008 19:29

Thanks to all the posters re: going overdue...i am not even having sweeps they are going straight for the induction with me...i have high fluid levels and SPD but i still have this sense of fear/doubt as i wanted to go into labour myself and not have this all 'managed' oh well...i am pretty much immobile though so maybe induction is a good idea...DH says maybe i should let the medical professionals do their job hehehe

Good Luck to the rest of you still waiting...

Rolf · 01/07/2008 19:29

How crap is that Sophie. I must say that although I think we are considerate guests (we usually self-cater), reading posts from you and Deb has really given me some food for thought for next time we go on holiday. There must be something really unpleasant about having people treating you and your home in such a disrespecful manner.

sophiewd · 01/07/2008 20:01

Thankfully it is the minority because we have had some fantastic families to stay as well which more than make up for the crap ones.

lulumama · 01/07/2008 20:08

rolf you have mail !

debinaustria · 01/07/2008 20:54

I can sympathise Sophie!!Rant away!

TGF - thanks for the reassuring comments re weight

Rolf - when my dad came to stay last week - he looked at my stomach and said"is that normal?"

Amberc · 01/07/2008 21:22

Re weight - other than my DP reminding me all the time about how fat I am, I have had a horrid experieince today. Just got out of the bath and thought I would put on the enormous elastic pants I bought for post pregnancy to see if they would make my tummy look more normal and less pregnant and I can't get them on. I have had to take then off as my tummy is so big it makes them roll down. Ouch.

Also Luke has spewed really badly today after trying him on hungry baby milk.

Went to cranial osteopath today - has anyone else done it? Not what I was expecting - I thought it was going to be like light head massage but it was more like reiki and a bit mumbo jumbo. Does it really do anything - Luke's been crying like mad so we've not noticed any differene. Not sure if one session is meant to help. We have to go back in 2 weeks for another. He said I needed it more than the baby!

Rolf · 01/07/2008 21:39

Amber - I took DS1 for cranial osteopathy and it seemed to help him. The bloke also gave me a go and said something about needing straightening out after my epidural. I felt that it helped but sometimes with these things just feeling as though you're doing something is the most useful part of it isn't it? (sceptical, I know!).

I tried doing some tummy exercises today (just lying on my back, core stability kind of things - very gentle) and I couldn't even engage them . So I gave up and had some chocolate instead .

Amberc · 01/07/2008 21:55

I can't do any exercise because of my c section which makes things worse. I would like to put on my harness and take the baby out for a walk but I can't - v depressing.

josey · 01/07/2008 22:32

Hello
Having a lovely time, DD behaving very well she was so exhausted from her checks and car journey she barely woke half an hour till 8am this morning lol!!!

We have managed to get one of her drugs changed till evening so she wont get knocked out for during the day which makes sense. Hopefully these will control things and we wont have to deal with a bad seizure, if she has one I needs to give her rectal drugs and phone 999 which is a fking scary thought.

She seems quite content to be at home with us.

It is a very odd thing to get my head round but we have to set the alarm to get up to feed her, and quite often she is asleep through feeds. She has started making a few mewing noises if she isnt happy with something, what I wouldnt give to hear her cry.

TGF Thank you.

Congrats to all the other lovely June babies that have been born xx

Rolf · 01/07/2008 23:27

Josey you sound like a different person now you have Olivia home with her family where she belongs .

sophiewd · 02/07/2008 08:25

Josey - lovely for you to have Olivia home, you sound like a completely different person.

Amber - he doesn't need hungry baby milk yet, if he is being sick after every feed then slow down your feeds, a little then wind, then some more and also talk to HV?GP as he may need gaviscon if he has reflux.

Amberc · 02/07/2008 08:45

hungry baby milk was the suggestion of the MW as she said he's more like a month old. He hasn't gpt reflux as he's only done it on a couple of days since he was born - due to get him weighed today so will ask HV though (she seems a bit dozy to be honest).

Luke is massively bunged up nasally which is much worse at night time and when's flat so he can hardly breathe. He's coughing and sneezing - they said he had mucus in his lungs when he was born but it's got worse not better. I had to keep an eye on him all night for fear he would stop breathing the dreadful noises that were coming from him - was worried sh*tless. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what should I do? Another night minus any sleep for me. btw - can babies breathe through their mouths and if so why doesn't he when he can't breathe through his nose???!! If the HV says he's Ok I might try the nursery tonight for him as sleeping in my room means I will never sleep again at this rate.
