Lets hope it's not too long before everyone is hatched and milking season is in full swing!

Oh gosh, where do I start with catching up?? I've done my usual ultra fast scan through of the latest posts so seen tiny bits but not really sure where we're at? I hate getting lost with it all but there never seems to be the time to catch up once I get a day behind!! (haven't been on this thread at all)

I noticed Josey has Olivia out now, I'm sooooo thrilled for you!!! Hope she goes from strength to strength now! xx

Did I read someone wanting to know about Natures Ambi Nests? I may have mis-read in my rush but I can help if needed as been using ours since Joshua was about 2 days old (he's 2 weeks today - where has the time gone??!! )

Well, after a lucky 9 days with perfect quiet baby who slept apart from when feeding etc (I was actually worried about how groggy he was), I now have a problem with wind/digestion and he gets so upset and unsettled, it's hard to know what to do Off to cranial oestopath next Thurs, anyone else used one before?

Sooooo, what else have I missed?

Not sure how many are still waiting to hatch but just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and hope your turn comes soon - I know how annoying it is near the end!

Essie3 · 03/07/2008 21:38

Hi all, last post before bedtime (although Iestyn doesn't seem to realise that it's beginning to get dark...). Big trip to London tomorrow - not too concerned, apart from the massive amount we will need to pack, but more concerned about Saturday when we'll probably pay for it!

Iestyn's been quite good today, although he did have a mad screaming fit just before we sat down to eat. All my fault. My sister came to cook us dinner, and I decided, whilst he looked asleep and peaceful, to attempt to get a handprint of him. Big mistake, bad Mami! He's screaming now too because we changed his nappy after feeding. Again, I keep thinking he might prefer sitting in his own poo...and we also prefer it because at least he's quiet .

Will contact South Londoners when we're safely arrived and settled in Tooting! Good luck to all those awaiting induction, and I look forward to news of lots of brand new babies!

looneytune · 03/07/2008 21:48

Meant to say......thanks for all the messages after I posted my birth story, sorry I never got back sooner

Night Essie

Luke went to the cranial osteopath on Tuesday. We can't tell if it did anything or not! He seems to be a very good baby who cries only randomly when hungry and is soon placated. Maybe it has done something as he's not burped since! We have another appointment in 2 weeks. The guy was really nice - very o9dd treatment though - more like reiki.

looneytune · 03/07/2008 22:07

Hi Amber. If he's a good baby etc, can I ask what you went for? I'm not sure about what they do so just wondered

thegreenfairy · 03/07/2008 22:23

neenz sorry to hear about your pram cover. Might be worth phoning your local radio stations as well - unusual enough to warrant a mention surely?

sybil yes, Storm is putting on weight like a trooper. I've lost all but about six pounds of my pre preggy weight, so there are some advantages - but it is knackering. Just finished a four hour on/ off feeding marathon - thank God am expressing a bit now so DH can help - really takes the edge off and he loves feeding her.

DH and I put up Storm's cot this afternoon (almost resulting in divorce ) and she is now asleep in her sleeping bag - woo! I decided not to wait for the mattress to arrive and instead made a big pile of blankets and then put her thick sheepskin on top with a fitted sheet on it. Did the hotwaterbottle trick again and it worked a treat - definitely one to stick with.

essie I know what you mean about the NHS love in. Because Storm was breech and in a prime position for getting stuck (cross legged, stuck a foot out, kept one in) we would both probably have been done for as well, were it not for C/S. I'll never complain about paying my national insurance again!

Ok, watching Predator and just seen the grim bit, eeeeek.

sophiewd · 04/07/2008 07:14

Morning all.

Looney we had a session with DD, she was constantly throwing up and we couldn't wind her and she was generally uncomfortable, we had a session and a change of formula and she was great after that.

Didn't have a lot of sleep last night, Basil decided that he wanted to stay awake, no crying but just was wide awake, so after 2 hours, DH took him downstairs and I managed to get a bity until woken up by loud children from the family from hell who are going today.

Have just checked the weather forecast so we are off out tonight (all of us) to have a picnic and take Basil and Edie to see Shaking Stevens, Edie saw Procul Harem at 5 months.

sophiewd · 04/07/2008 07:15

Nad 2 no shows on the B&B front which is a pain as we had people phoning up yesterday for accommodation, but means that I only have 5 to cook and not 7.

aberdeenhiker · 04/07/2008 08:00

sophie - that sucks about the no shows - I'm always amazed at the level of trust involved in running a B&B - anything else makes you leave a credit card number in advance.

looney - I took Fraser to a cranial osteopath as he didn't like lying on his left side for feeding. It worked really well.

I've had a crazy few days - and I'm so not in love with the NHS (or at least my practice ). My stitches have started bleeding again so I called my community midwife, who told me to call my GP, who sent me to the hospital (!) to get checked out. Of course we looked like fools at the hospital for overreacting, but the doctor got nicer when she found out my GP had sent me in. The hospital decided that my community midwife should start checking me again on a weekly basis and told her that, but I had her calling yesterday to say she didn't want to come. I'm forcing her to, because the hospital recommended it, and because she's the only one who's seen my stitches multiple times so she's the only one who can say if they are healing. I'm frustrated though that neither she nor my GP will see me and keep fobbing me off on the hospital.

About the stitches - anyone else had raw stitches still at 4 weeks postpartumn? I'm getting really worried that they aren't healing and the doctor at the hospital said I probably wouldn't need reconstruction which scared the s*&t out of me as I'd not thought it was bad enough that there'd be a chance I'd need reconstruction. It was just a small second degree tear but it's not healing well at all.

I did manage to arrange to get a coil sorted through the family planning clinic in town (since my GP wouldn't see me until 8 weeks postpartum). I think coils take 4 weeks to be effective, which means I'll have birth control sorted at 10 weeks postpartumn. It sounds like a long time to wait, but I may be waiting on my stitches instead

sophiewd · 04/07/2008 08:26

Just spent a shed load of money in the Boden sale for next summer, methinks I am too organised.

Parofleurmapu · 04/07/2008 09:08

Morning all

I do read the posts mostly everyday but never get round to writing anything!!Been really busy here with family my mum,dad and sis hae just left so we are on our own now!!! eeeeek
FIL and SIL are here but staying elsewhere and only coming round sometimes and not really to help so its all systems go. Ive realised i now have a washing basket!!!!!and it doesnt get magically emptied anymore, i have washing in the machine thats been in there for a while now and havent got round to puttin the thing on!!!

Apart from household chores all is well. FLeur is 1 month now!!!! wow doesnt time fly, She is rapidly gaining weight and now weighs 3 960kg, still not many clothes fit her!!! She is long but not podgy so things hang off her!!
Last night we moved her moses basket into her cot in her own room. I wasnt keen and said only if she stays in basket as cot is mega huge. It was actually a good idea she slept from 11pm to 4.45am yeaaaaah!!!

Sophie it most of been a full moon or something last night Fleur was wide awake after her 7pm feed and bath she normally zonks out but she was wide awake watching tv with us as we gave up trying to settle a wide awake baby in the end.

Also im really jealous bout shakin stevens, He was my idol when i was 8 or 9 years old, I went to see him with my mum. EVery body at sch was into take that Bros etc but i loved him. We are going to take Fleur to see Dover a spanish group on Fri on the beach, her first concert!!

AH- im also worried bout my stiches they still are sore and MW last week said there was one slighty open, going to drs on Mon to see what they say, hopefully all ok

Essie and neenz I have dreams like that too, at night i have to write down when ive fed her cause otherwise i wake up and forget if ive done it, or i think where is fleur and start searching the bedclothes!!!

Question for you Debs, do you get comments over there by people telling you oooh put a blanket on her, or has she got enough clothes on!!! Or is it just the spanish mentality that if its 28 C outside the baby still has to have cardigan and blanket on!!! Also friend was in shock that fleur slept in no sleeves no legs romper or just in nappy and swaddling sheet cause in her room its 27 C!!!

Well congrats those who have popped and good luck to those who havent, and hugs to those of us with slepless nights etc.

Amberc · 04/07/2008 10:05

Paro My friend is Spanish and her mother came with her to visit me - I live on the Thames and have a glass fronted apartment which means it's like a greenhouse - about 27 degrees in normal weather. The Spanish mum gave me a right telling off for not covering the baby with a blanket even thoughhe had a vest on and was already boiling (normally we just have his nappy on!). Perhpas it's a Spanisgh thing!!

Cranial Osteopath we took him because he was very fractious and wriggly and never seemed sleepy - we were told he was windy and possibly collicky. 3 days after the treatment and we are sure it has had an effect as he is really chilled now! The guy said he had trauma in his face and neck from the birth.

being fat not breastfeeding means it's gping to take ages to get rid of excess cakes and biscuits from pregnanyc. I need to lose 2 stones to get back to pre preggers weight - will some just go or do I have to diet to get rid of the lot?

baby sleeping in own room I have noticed that some of you are flouting the guidelines about babies sleeping in mum&dads room until 6 months (tsk tsk!!) which is sorely what I want to do! I feel bad as I have asked the HV and the MW and they told me off for even thinking about it. What do you guys think?

bitofadramaqueen · 04/07/2008 10:21

Funny you mention the moon Paro - it was a new moon last night...

Sophie that is very organised re: shopping for next summer, but crazily sensible nontheless!

looneytune - welcome back. It's induction weekend with quite a few of us booked in today/tomorrow.

I'm off for my scan at lunchtime, so the upside of tomorrow's induction is that at least I get another chance to see the baby before it arrives. Have now resigned myself to induction tomorrow as still no labour symptoms... Good luck to those having inductions today!

Ooh, ktpie (my last remaining due date buddy) is booked for induction today, but not posted since Tuesday - I wonder if she's hatched!

LauraT · 04/07/2008 10:26

BDQ have definately had some friends who remembered to ask about me too, which has been lovely, and makes all the baby queries more bearable! BF is coming to take me to the shops in a short while in fact, to keep me company! quite looking forward to tomorrow really, as at last it's the end of the tunnel!

NHS love my GP practice, not so keen on community MW as she's a bit vacant, but at least same one each time!

M&S did think about telling her off for poor customer service, but instead I said in a heavily sarcastic voice "thanks, that's just what I wanted to hear". Have decided that most people don't often see 9 month+ pregnant women and therefore once you hit the heady heights of the overdue crew, you are an unusual sighting if still out and about!

Whinegums that sounds promising, good luck with scan today (it is today isn't it?)

I think bun2 and allnew must have babies by now, think that ony leaves whinegums, BDQ, me Hell Bell and Sarahpo...is that right?

LauraT · 04/07/2008 10:27

good luck at lunchtime BDQ, I'll be thinking of you! what time are they inducing you tomorrow? my first pessary is at 4pm apparently?

hellbell · 04/07/2008 10:37

Morning all! LauraT and Debinaustria thank you for making me feel normal! I have been to speak to my MW and she said that the only reason that I am due an induction on saturday is because the consultant at my 'local' hospital (an hour away) doesn't want anyone going over T+10. I am going to see if they will let me go T+14 which is what all of the other hospitals in the county do. It's amazing what you find out if you push a bit. Mind you, the other midwife just made the appt for tomorrow without a discussion! Bless her. Anyway the upside of the appointment was that monster is ready to go and it will probably happen over the weekend. Great huh! Good luck everyone. Sophie funnily enough, my postie has just delivered the Boden sale catalogue...poor old credit card.

bitofadramaqueen · 04/07/2008 10:52

Thanks Laura - I'm at 5pm tomorrow. Bit nervous, but also looking forward to light at end of the tunnel. However, I'm mentally prepared for having the pessary, nothing happening, coming home, posting on MN and then going back on Sunday for pessary no 2. I dont think that I'm convinced that this baby is every coming out!!!!

hellbell - they cant make you have an induction at 10 days so if you want to hang on till next week you should stick to your guns (assuming all ok with you and the baby's health etc). You are allowed to refuse to have an induction even once you get to 14 weeks. If you have a search on the childbirth thread you'll find a link to the guidelines on induction.

hellbell · 04/07/2008 10:58

bitofadramaqueen thank you. I feel that I will be able to stick up for myself regarding the 14 days. I hope that you are not worried. I will be thinking of you and everyone else. It will be great to read about your story when it is all over. Chances are that you will have a bambino before us ! Good luck.xx

Sarahpo · 04/07/2008 11:18

Hello yup i am still here and wondering what is to come...of course thinking about all of the week-end inductees as well!! I have noticed less baby movements actually, the movements seem to have really slowed down over the past couple of days, i don't know if that means anything? anyway i suppose i will try and get moving around to get things started.
Good Luck everyone

katyjo · 04/07/2008 12:02

Hi everyone, Just about caught up with the posts!

We were still having major problems with feeding here, but I think we are on the mend now. I went back to the gp and got a course of fluconazole to rid us both of thrush. Didn't really want to take drugs but seemed like the only option, thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown and started getting ratty with ds. So fingers crossed things will be ok from here.

Good luck to all those being induced over the next few days, we must be on the last leg now!

Laura and can't believe how rude some people are, although I found the insensitive comments don't stop when you have the baby from 'oh he's really small for his age' to 'oh, mine all slept through the night from 2 weeks when your 7 month old is teething and waking every 2 hours' . People are just a bit ignorant.

I better go, Mum has taken ds to the park to give me some peace. Don't know if Mumsnet counts!!

Upsidedowncake · 04/07/2008 12:11

Thinking of you induction ladies.

We are still having a few problems feeding and the anaemia makes it worse as I am so shattered, I am more weepy and down. My midwife was saying yesterday that I should have a blood transfusion - which I then got really depressed about. But as everyone in RL have pointed out, the doctors are the experts and they made the decision that there were more risks in having one than in taking iron tablets.

I promise I'll be less self-obsessed soon once we get all of this sorted.

Essie, get in touch once you get settled isabellapark at homechoice dot co uk
