Hooray for Mummypig! Hope you're having fun and not too exhausted.

SK - fingers crossed.

Can't wait to find out about Kaz.

How usual is it for mws to give a sweep if asked for no particular reason, other that being fed up, and how likely is it to work? I sooo don't want to be late. If it does work is the birth likely to be longer/ more painful?

Heffagooday · 02/07/2008 09:02

Grrr, have hardly slept! I woke up in the middle of the night to go for a pee and then couldn't get back to sleep again because I felt really breathless. Then I started getting loads of cramps down there so stayed awake for ages. Managed to knock my glass of water all over my bedside table while floundering about - DH cleaned it up and went back to sleep while I stayed up, and then the bulb on my lamp blew up! Anyway, finally got some sleep and have woken up still having lots of cramps and with bump feeling very tight and strange. Persuaded DH into relations last night so I think that's why! I'm hoping it's made LO engage more.

Pigley - I know what you mean about questioning every little niggle! It reminds me of when I was trying to figure out if I was pregnant (before I could take a test). I'd love for LO to be early, but I'd at least like to wait until all my family are back of their hols.

pigleychez · 02/07/2008 09:17

Morning all.

What!! No more babies!

Feel absoultely exhausted today, even though i only woke once and that wasnt till 6am.

Jacob- def agree about being able to take bump off for a while. Bet we will miss it when it goes though.

SK- Thanks for updating the list. sorry to hear you had a bad night

JacobsPrincess · 02/07/2008 09:58

Argh! Just discovered the first "chalfonts" of this pregnancy. Now I'm really pissed off annoyed.

disneystar · 02/07/2008 10:02

jacob what a wonderful idea to take it of leave on sofa while going shopping or something,
alas we do not get a break its relentless isnt it
i was awake nealry all night tummy was so crampy both sides and realy achey
even walking today i have to stop as i feel hes just going to fall out and terrible full up pain

heffa that sounds like one night im real breathless all the time its horible isnt it

sk how are you today

JacobsPrincess · 02/07/2008 10:32

I felt all heavy like that yesterday Disney, like I had to keep my knees together in case LO dropped out!!
Managed to sleep ok last night, but only cos DH slept in DS's bunk bed so I had a King size all to myself and could have the fan on all night. If I wasn't PG I'd think I was menopausal with all the night sweats!!!
And I hate that feeling of needing the loo everytime I stand up, even if I only went 5 minutes ago.

Libra1975 · 02/07/2008 10:33

Morning. Today might be the most exciting day of my life, yes ladies more exciting than the birth of my LO. Every since I left home I have dreamt of living somewhere where the sofas don't have to be covered with a throw/blanket and today those sofas arrive. Instead of our PFB being nurtured in a Mama and Papa supplied nursery it is going to have to put up with the indignities of an IKEA cot and changing table whilst DH and I wallow in 2 brand new sofas from the sofa workshop (Harry range if you are really bored and want to google). I know buying new sofas just before a regurgitating machine makes its way into the world is probably a stupid idea but at least I will know what the stains are!
Now I just have to work on DH to buy a new carpet as that has previous owner stains. Ugh.

Pigley - HOW can you think you will miss the bump!! (Also Nissan 350Z has always been my car of choice)

Mummpig - congratulations.

min912 · 02/07/2008 10:45

I have heard of these women who love their bumps and being pregnant ... actually at the hen night weekend a friend of the bride said to me as I waddled to the loo for the 8th time 'Don't you just love being pregnant?' - in all seriousness. I think I might possibly have been a bit rude in tone back as I said 'NO!'.

We bought new sofas just before DS was born and they don't look like that scene at the beginning of 'About a Boy' - are yours scotch guarded (or similar)? DS managed to knock chocolate milk over one yesterday (mine not his!) and it wiped up straight away (thankfully, oatmeal colour sofa!)

Think I have just worked out what chalfonts are... pain and discomfort gone for me but when does the actual swelling go down??!

disneystar · 02/07/2008 10:47

im gonna have to google that car i have no idea what it is
so many of us my DH got a zafira and i drive a bmw

libra i know how exciting it is to get new stuff its cos its part of our world sorting things out making things look good basically some moms are the wheels thats make things work smoothly
i say some moms as even though i am SAHM now i nver used to be and man is this job hard
but i just love looking after everyone and making my home look nice for them
but i am wondering where my me time has gone
gonna google that libra and have a look

JacobsPrincess · 02/07/2008 10:52

Chalfont St Giles - piles
Can't resist a bit of rhyming slang!

CilC · 02/07/2008 11:11

I am Aussie Jacobs and I knew it! Actually had heard it used before! But very chuffed as I am definitely becoming anglicised!

Oh love the new sofas libra! Yep I am bored so I googled. Nice legs!

I have loved my Jeep Cherokee but it uses too much fuel. We are about to trade in with a VW Touran. It seems like such a mature family car and makes me feel a bit too grown up! I still also have my focus for around town which has more room in it than I realised and DH uses to get to train/work. He wants something flash...all his friends are buying mid life crisis porsche cars, but I have told him to go and jump!

C Sections Sorry just got off the phone from friend who had a c section. She now has an infection almost 2 weeks after. She apparently called MW on Saturday who has never once checked her scar and replied that all c-sections hurt and not to worry!!!!and now has to go in to hospital to have it re-done. She told me she was given absolutely no advice on how to care for it. Can I just rehash to everyone - if you have to have one -PLEASE be proactive in your care for it. Buy betadine and slather it on. In Oz they also suggest covering it with a pressure bandage. Anyway just wanted to reiterate that as I feel the biggest problem over here with c sections (apart from hospital infection)is the lack of follow-up and advice to mums who have had one.

It is funny, but because I have a set date for LO's arrival I am completely unaware of all of the possible signs of imminate labour...which really is silly as I have just as much chance of going early as the rest of you. But maybe my ignorance is a good thing as I am feeling absolutely no desire now to hurry up anything. I think it has also helped me with the pain, discomfort etc..just plodding along heading for that 14th July date! (Chugga Chugga)

minipinkscottish · 02/07/2008 11:15

Wow!!! Congratulations beepbeep and mummypig xxxxxxxxx

Still no July baby???

Went to docs this morning again as still feeling under the weather and the antibiotics I got last week for tonsilitis are finished. I am having the most horendous night sweats - so bad that I have to change everything including the bed every time I get up - very tiring when i have to do this then feed a baby

MW thinks it could be hormonal and linked to bf but I haven't had this with any of the others. The doc said I had a temp of 38.6 and wanted to take bloods to check thyroid9 I am already on thyroxin) and swabs to rule out infection. I have to wait till Friday for results as doc has asked lab to determine the best antibiotic as I am alergic to lots of them and bf Nothing is ever simple!!

On a brighter note Abbie is doing well - getting more alert every day and feeding for longer without falling asleep. she gets weighed this afternoon and fingers crossed she might have made it back to her birth weight.

Sorry for long post xxx thinking of everyone xxx take care all xx

purplejennyrose · 02/07/2008 11:23

Cilc -thank you, where can I buy betadine?? Was re-reading all your previous c-section advice just now actually - I printed it out for reference! I really don't want an infection! Had horrific internal infection after dd1 which actually was life-threatening, had to have emergency surgery, and that haunts me...
I'm sure that wion't happen though, and my MW is fab and will be very vigilant as it's something we've already talked about.

bebejones · 02/07/2008 11:24

Congratulations Mummypig!! Right....who's next?!?!?

Got up ridiculously early (6am) to take DH into work early as he had loads to do...got dressed and ready to leave...and he had left his office keys at work so we couldnt leave til 8.30 coz he wouldn't have been able to get in!

On the plus side, stopped in Tescos on way home and picked up a yummy salad for lunch, and some quiche and fresh PINEAPPLE! Have eaten loads of it all the way through pregnancy as was one of the things I could 'stomach' when really sick! So doubt it will have any effect so to speak. Will only be 36 weeks 2moro, so kinda hoping it doesnt! Also treated myself to a banana milkshake and some teacakes, which I think i am going to go and indulge in now!!

Minkus · 02/07/2008 11:30

Gosh reading your posts CilC and purplejenny made me realise how serious an operation a csection is. I think it's so easy to get blase about them because they are relatively commonplace but of course they're major surgery aren't they.

Well I delayed logging on this morning so I could be sure of seeing the overnight baby announcements and now there are none! Come on you lot get labouring . Although Kaz is conspicuous by her absence, positive vibes to you Kaz if you are/have been squeezing your lo out (Jodie I was also convinced she was having a boy, fingers crossed eh if we're right we can join Disneys psychic club!)

Sleepycat re sweeps- I also have mw appointment this afternoon, will be asking about one then. She said at my last appt that I could have one when I'm 40 weeks (which is monday) so have a feeling I will be camped ouside the sugery ready for the doors to open on Monday morning. I feel very ready to meet the new baby, although there are things that in an ideal world would be sorted in advance (eg cooker needs a good professional clean, as do the carpets ) I want it to come now! This minute! I'm sooo excited about finding out if it's a boy or a girl

And BMcQ I am also willing my cervix to stretch, every time I get a small twinge down there I close my eyes and try and visualise it getting thinner and wider .

Minipink, glad Abbie is doing so well- hope you find out the cause of your night sweats. I bet you were hoping that when you weren't pregnant anymore all those unusual symptoms would go away (I know I am!)

Just eaten more pineapple. I've eaten so much of the blooming stuff recently that if it's a she there might be a carmen miranda style fruit turban emerging first instead of a head.

bebejones · 02/07/2008 11:34

minkus lol at Carmen Miranda image!!

JODIEhavingababy · 02/07/2008 12:27

Morning all.

Just to start with me! I;ve got bloody laryngitus! (SP?) Am feeling Very Sorry for myself! I can't talk, so DS is getting away with ALOT today, as I can't run around after him either... Thank god it's not raining (yet) so we've been in the garden! The doc hasn't given me anything for it, just said drink lots of Hot water, Lemon and honey and Lemsip up! And it should go in 2-3 days! So if I do go into labour in the next 48 hours, I shall be doing it the 'Katie Holmes' way! Rumple is there anything else I can do? God I love having so many people to ask for different kinds of advice in one place!

minkus and BmcQ I'm using the whole 'visualisation' thing too, In my head, my cervix is a bud of a flower and I keep visulising it opening and uncurling don't know if it works, but I'm giving anything a go!

Libra1975 Sofas are so exciting! I really want some new ones, but can't justify it really!

cass66 · 02/07/2008 12:41

JP, I know what you mean. I had 5mins yesterday walking back to the car when I didn't feel pregnant. not waddling, no pain, not out of breath. felt wonderful. didn't last!!!! walked round York for a bit after that and felt very pregnant, walking at a snails pace and huffing and puffing everywhere.

feel tired and grumpy today, spent the morning in bed after the school run, a friend took my youngest to playgroup for me which made a huge difference. I don't like imposing on friends, but many have offered to help with school/playgroup, so I may take them up on it. only a week to go for me!!!

Good luck to all others. impatient now!! C

RUMPEL · 02/07/2008 12:59

JODIE see below - hope you are feeling better soon. I used to take Hepar Sulph for my tonsills and it sorted it out. I always think that when people have their tonsills out you end up with larnygitis/pharyngitis instead - the tonsills are the body's first line of defence.

www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/48/131.cfm

www.hpathy.com/diseases/larynx-symptoms-treatment-cure.asp

MUMMYPIG - well done.

We are going to look at Mini Clubmans at Christmas. I have a wee red mini and I love it but not sensible for 2 kids - not enough room. DH has a beamer but I hate it - feels so huge to me! I used to be a confident driver but have been involved in somany accidents (none of them my fault) that I am a bit nervy now - never mind pg brain and then sleep deprived new baby brain!!

I remember going to do the first shop after having Amber and I loaded up the trolley and went to pay and realised that I had taken all my cards out for going into hospital!! Luckily they knew me so I could pop home and get them.

I am sooooooooo fed up now - awoke at 11.30 pm last night, then 1am then finally managed to drop off at 4am and DD woke up!!! Then a neighbours alarm started going off - am knackered and throat is very sore - whinge whinge, moan moan. At least DD is at nursery today so I am gonna go and veg in fornt of the TV now

SWEETKITTY -what colour pram did you order?

MINIPINK - have a think about Agnus Castus tincture - it helps to produce more breast milk and regulates the hormones - sounds like your hormones are in overdrive. I get mine from

www.woodlandherbs.co.uk/acatalog/abtincture.html

Take care allxxx

KAZ - what's happening?

CilC · 02/07/2008 13:09

Hi PurpleJenny
You can get Betadine at the pharmacy. If they do not stock that brand - the "real" name for it is Povidone - Iodine. DH said to reiterate NOT Iodine.
Basically it is the brown watery stuff surgeons put over you before an operation.
DH said if they do not have any you can always order in.

I use on DD's cuts and ouches.

Bebejones...wish I could eat more! I find big milky drinks make me feel so uncomfortable at the moment, but am definitely craving things like a banana milkshake. Same with chocolate...the thought is fab, but everything I eat makes me feel so bloated, acidy and sick! And that is after taking zantac!!!

Jodie I think I would find a way to scream and yell even if I had laryngitis! I used to sing and if the voice was a bit wobbly I found gargling with salty water and a germ killing mouthwash helped.

Gosh I do sound like I am a germ phobe - Hard to believe I grew up on a farm, amongst poo, pigs, horses and flies!!!

Minkus · 02/07/2008 13:10

Lol jodie at flower bud cervix! Sorry to hear you're feeling pants, laryngitis is miserable isn't it I remember having it a few years back. Hope the lemon and honey works.

Yep cass a week for me too (well 5 days) and I have just started taking people up on their offers of assistance as well! Went to MIL's for the afternoon yesterday, amazing woman that she is she packed me off to bed for a snooze whilst she entertained ds, took him out for a walk and made him lunch etc. I love my MIL she's great, nothing at all like the mad harridans you read about on other threads! Much more practical use than my own mum in fact, mum and I have a great relationship but she's just not as useful!

I wonder where all the other mnetters on our list in the first week of July have gone? There's only you and me Polyxene who are posting now, we've not heard from folks like CarrieHD9, Hatrick or Misschika in aaages- come back ladies if you're still there!

And HubarbSpong how is your dw getting along?

minipinkscottish · 02/07/2008 13:23

Rumpel - thanks for the tip xx I have ordered some xx many thanks xx

JODIEhavingababy · 02/07/2008 13:28

Thanks for that Rumple I'm now off to drink 8-10 glasses of warm water (and no doubt have a thousands pee's!)

Minkus I was thinking of those people too, they used to post regular in the forst few weeks/months and then dropped off the radar! Maybe we talked so much that catchong uo was such a daunting prospect!!!

Mummywannabe · 02/07/2008 13:37

Morning all.

Congratulations mummypig!

Jodie - feeling ill is pants when your pregnant.

Why is it i get really strong BH at night, nothing in day!

Sweetkitty - seeing midwife at 40+1 so wonder if she did mean she would do stretch and sweep then? Does it really hurt that much, might chicken out!

sweetkitty · 02/07/2008 13:42

Well I now have my drugs, was very funny at the GPs today, poor man had never prescribed Diamorphine so had to phone the labour ward to check, so I know have Diamorphine, Stemitil (anti sickness drug) not that I am taking them, co-codamol (for afterpains highly recommended) and some more Zantac so all stocked up, MW is bringing syntometrin and lidocaine tomorrow, not that I am having the syntometrin either as hoping for a physiological third stage and deliver the placenta myself, lidocaine is in case I need stitches so not planning on that either!

Have also washed my duvet cover and am planning to hoover and tidy bedroom today, I have a thing that the room must be v tidy or I won't be comfortable in there (mad hormonal thing) wish I could just move DP out for 3 weeks the man is so messy.

peanut - sorry to disappoint you

kaz - hope you are cuddling your newborn now

Jacobsprincess - now in an ideal world you should be able to pass the bump to your other half now and again.

gilly - I'm hoping to be SPD free as well, was the last twice, the difference is amazing one minute you are hobbling then the next you are fine (pity about the labour bit inbetween though)

Libra1975 - happy new sofas, we got a beautiful brown corner one last year and so far it's not been wrecked too much. Don't worry about not having the M&P coordinating nursery, in a few years when the LO hammers the top of the chest of drawers leaving huge dents you will be so glad you had IKEA = easy to replace. IMO nice furniture and toddlers just don't mix.

heffa - am impressed relations at this stage

disney - yes I feel like that full to the brim with a baby that is stretching and trying to make more room for herself, also feel like my entire insides are going to fall out my fanjo at any given time.

CliC - you are so right about c-sections, I have had 3 friends who have had infections in their wounds and it's not nice. I think it's a shame as when you are pregnant everything is geared towards VB and theres one little paragraph on CS, given that 20% of births are CSs you would think there would be more on caring for yourself afterwards.

minipink - glad to hear Abbie is doing well but you are under the weather, hope you are taking lots of vits and drinking loads of water, I couldn't get enough water when BFing at the start.

Jodie - poor you, you can a couple of paracetamol, you have my sympathies I had sinusitis when 41 weeks with DD2 and it was awful, ended up on antibiotics and was taking my co-codamol for the pain it was horrendous. I'm sure thats why DD2 was late too your body won't let you go into labour if you are ill as you need all your energy for pushing the baby out.

Right am off after another mammoth post, it's not rained here today so may even let the DDs out in the garden later, am so of you lot with sun, post some up to me please?
