No Susi they said she had 'markers' which is possible indicators for Downs and we could have further testing. I can't remember what they were, there were two or three I think. One was the size of her kidneys and the amount of amniotic fluid - although we had differing opinions on this and apparently it is not uncommon anyway. Basically I think they want to cover themselvs for any eventuality but they laid it on a bit thick.

SusiS · 16/02/2005 09:55

ouch! they really should be a bit more careful with their "statements". now you mention it they told me too that ds' one kidney was bigger and they wanted to "keep an eye on it".

anyways: good morning! how is everybody today? i hope not too sick!! i am not too bad actually (besides having a bad cold) even managed to eat 2 buttered toasts and i am taking time out now and playing a game on pc

oh yes, hard life of a sahm

RudyDudy · 16/02/2005 10:00

Morning all - not much to report here. Seems I have evening sickness which is better than last time when it was all day sickness. Yesterday had a massive appetite and ate practically everything I could lay my hands on - consequently am looking about 12 weeks pg today . Not a good start but I think the fact my stomach muscles never recovered from last time isn't going to help! Oh well, there are worse things that could happen than getting a bit fat I suppose - just thought I'd have a bit longer in my 'normal' clothes.

Hope everyone else is well. Won't it be lovely when we reach 12 weeks . I think I might make my Dr appt today - am not in a rush - last time I practically raced down there insisted they did a test and was thoroughly disappointed when he just said congratulations and very little else!

triceratops · 16/02/2005 11:03

Morning all. Hope everyone is coping with feeling sick and tired or not feeling sick and tired enough. I am mostly a SAHM but I do the accounts for our business while ds is at nursery. Well behind this week due to half term and pregnancy obsession.

triceratops · 16/02/2005 11:08

I am not going to opt for any extra testing (although I am not quite as old as I look this morning at 32).

Like you Morningpaper I wouldn't want to abort a downs child. I certainly wouldn't abort someone due to a cleft palate like the family in the news recently. I may consider it for a very serious/painful health problem. Certainly not for blindness or a mobility disorder.

Lexie100 · 16/02/2005 12:15

Afternoon all.

Me to with the afternoon/evening sickness. Seem to be ok in the mornings.

Latest symptom: very sensitive to smells which are making me feel sick

bonniej · 16/02/2005 13:39

I'm starting to feel a bit sick now. Not actually sick but unsettled really. I'm also going off things that I usually like especially coffee which I suppose is a good thing. I bought a new suit for a wedding I'm going to in a couple of weeks and need to make sure it still fits as I don't want to change it. It's proving to be difficult now I have started to feel so hungry all the time. The only thing that gets rid of the sick feeling is eating!! mad isn't it? Still really tired and could easily sleep all day (dd won't let me ) Hope everyone else is well

Joseyjo · 16/02/2005 15:50

am sooo jealous of all you sahms!!! i work full time (3 days in the office and 2 days from home) and am constantly bored! Not helped by the fact that at the moment i feel sick/am starving and would prefer to be obsessing over pregnancy stuff all the time - oh, my mistake - i am diong that anyway!!!!!
i have seen the doctor (6 weeks - i know, i am keen..) and i am seeing the midwife on monday. i have to get a wiggle on as i am supposed to be having a sizing scan between 7 and 10 weeks with the consultant and my doctor's surgery are not great at the speed of their referrals!

Joseyjo · 16/02/2005 15:52

Lexi100 - re the smells thing, last time i sat opposite a bloke in the office who smoked so much that his teeth, moustache and nails were all yellow. he made me retch every day because he smelt so bad!!! fortunatley he has left now.. still struggling with fish and my dh's gases!!

Lexie100 · 16/02/2005 15:56

My mother in law. Went to see her to be nice and have a cup of tea. Discussed the pregnancy and she ended up telling me that my pregnancy symptoms are all in my mind. If her daughter had a slight cold or say sickness in pregnancy it would be the end of the world yet i would have to be in hospital on my death bed to get any sympathy out of the old bat and then i'd probably get told it was all in my mind. Or her darling daughter/son had symptoms of X far worse than me so what am i complaining about. AGGHHHHH

Sorry had to get it off my chest and DH doesn't understand that his mother can be difficult at times!

Anyone else have a battle axe as mother in law?

Joseyjo · 16/02/2005 16:09

i have a mother who doesn't believe in pregnancy symptoms. i like my sleep anyway, but the only word i could use last time to describe what the tiredness felt like was debilitating. she told me that if i kept doing things and didn't think about it then it would go away. hmmmm. didn't believe her, otherwise why would i sit at my desk with tears pouring down my face desperate to be alowed to sleep!! i used to kip in the back of the car outside the office. my mother in law isw much nicer.. she only has sons, so she is desperate to be allowed to talk to daughters-in-law about anything! it is lovely actually. sorry if that doesn't help!!!

morningpaper · 16/02/2005 17:43

Lordy cooking dd's dinner is bloody HORRIBLE... and I can't bear to be in the same room as her eating it... she's downstairs watching Blue's Clue's and eating a ready meal (that's as much as I could manage).

groan!

I know what you mean. I'm actually considering doing on line shopping so i don't have to go and look at all the food.

morningpaper · 16/02/2005 18:19

Ew ... wish I could do online COOKING!

OP posts:
Elf1981 · 16/02/2005 18:35

Lexie,

I do my shopping online with Tesco. I started a couple of months ago, before I fell pg (I'm due on 17th Oct but taking each day as it comes so far). Last night they missed some stuff off my order, and I had to nip to Tesco to get some stuff.

Walked past the chiller section and my DH sugested prawns as a treat for the cat. I looked over at him, and almost threw up. First sign of sickness I have had, and I've felt bad all day today!

I'm doing ALL my shopping on line from now on, I don't care what they forget, no more trips to the supermarket!

RudyDudy · 16/02/2005 19:00

Hello - I've had a really lovely day and am feeling remarkably well. A little tired, but no more than I think I would normally at this time of day. Am trying really hard not to worry that there's something wrong and to enjoy having some energy and not feeling sick as I'm sure it won't last. Keep telling myself that I'd be more likely to know if something bad had happened than not.

Don't even get me started on MIL!! Though my life is made easier by the fact that she doesn't speak to us - well DH occasionally and me, never!

hushh · 16/02/2005 19:17

Hi gang. Made my docs appt today for 4th - 2 weeks off but I'm not in any rush as I'm only just 6 weeks tomorrow.
Has everyone seen the BBC pregnancy calender I think its really nice to have a day by day progress report !
Still no more symptoms to report - I just feel fat !

SusiS · 16/02/2005 20:11

evening girls! seems like we all are having a rough time!! i am not much better; i hardly eat anything all day and then in the evening i stuff everything in - just had a lovely delivered pizza - might regret it soon though!!

cori · 16/02/2005 20:52

I am not doing to bad really. Seem to have a wave of nausea around lunch time, and another around dinner, but goes away with eating. More of the problem is that I am exhausted and grumpy in the evening. Want to go to bed now, but if I do I will be awake by midnight and wont get to sleep for hours. Seem to be having quite poor sleep, woke four times last night.

morningpaper · 16/02/2005 20:54

I've definitely got evening sickness - I'm going to bed early because I'd rather be asleep than awake and feeling sick. Luckily I'm sleeping okay - waking up loads for wees but sleeping fine in between! These weeks are going so slowly... xxx

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 11:28

Hello girls...I'm erm very nervously joining the thread! ... I found out on the 15th, great late valentines present! And I've just been to the doctors although I felt really stupid when I came home because I only did the one test and the doctor didn't test and what if I was wrong etc etc... So I just tested again and all is well ... I have no idea why I'm being so daft! This is my second pregnancy, my DS is one on Friday! I'm due on the 22nd of October which makes me 5 weeks gone..

Apart from yucky morning sickness, and stupid cravings for humus on avacados and acting like a braindead zombie idiot I have no symptoms ...I hope to get to know you all!

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 11:32

Is anyone else as nervous as me about being pregnant? I wasn't at all with my last one...I'm a ball of nerves already

SusiS · 17/02/2005 12:23

no cravings yet! more feeling sick and don't want to eat anything!!! well, i lost 2 kg last week but i am sure i'll make up for it soon

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 12:28

Nice to meet ya! I can tell it's going to be great to have someone to complain to about the exhaustion and having hyperactive babies running around ... I hope the morning sickness wears off soon for you, I can tell mine's building up to something awful so I'm stuffing my face while I can!
