Hoping that someone will invent a new form of pain relief in the next 8 months....

i am CONSTANTLY nervous - which makes my nausea worse. i have ofund the only cure for that is eating all the time, with the result that i have already put on 3lbs and feel like a big hefalump.
Also, i thought i was being good last night and went to bed at 9.45 (sacrificing desperate housewives which is great!!!) and then couldn't sleep. i think i woke up more tired than when i went to bed. still having winged and winged i am still thrilled to be pregnant. just don't quite believe it yet.

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 12:31

Aww Jo I don't believe it either... and I'm stuffing my face too ...in fact I'm going to go and raid the cupboards right now!

Joseyjo · 17/02/2005 12:34

i am scoffing my lunch at my desk, but i keep having to check no-one is looking over my shoulder as all a big secret!!!
i had to get dh to make my sandwich this morning as i nearly chucked just getting the bread out of the bag!! i think he is beginning to believe how bad it is this time now!!!

SusiS · 17/02/2005 12:57

around midday i manage to look at food and get something! grapes are good i realised! -
ooohhhh jo, big secret!!! shhhhhh

have any of you told anyone yet??
i haven't! well, dp of course

Joseyjo · 17/02/2005 13:00

we told my parents-in-law last night and my mil cried!!! they are in australia on holiday and were thrilled. tonight i get to tell my parents and then it is strict information shut down until past 12 weeks. my dh is very strict about such things!!
actually, am going to tell my boss this afternoon as i have a midwife apptmt on monday and have to miss a meeting to go. i can't be bothered manufacturing lies and he is quite supportive so.... anyone else?

Lexie100 · 17/02/2005 13:02

Took my nephews out this am (5 and 3 yrs). I'm now exhausted and very nervous that (all going well) i'll have one of my own to look after very soon.

I have been through the starving all the time phase and am now at the can't look at food stage with out feeling sick. Trying to eat some pasta but not going down well. weight the same as before P but somehow feel bigger!

Addicted to hot chocolate .

madness · 17/02/2005 13:02

well, I just started feeling a bit sick just now but could be that it's because I'm soo tired and have a headache. Worked last night and with half term no time to have a rest with a 1 y and 4 y old running around....

morningpaper · 17/02/2005 13:23

I am going to a toddler party this afternoon and I expect I shall tell my friends - basically I look like death and the travel wristbands are a giveaway.

OP posts:
Lexie100 · 17/02/2005 13:27

I guess travel bands are not exactly a fashion statement, they might guess. You poor thing, good luck.

SusiS · 17/02/2005 14:18

with my last prg i told everybody after the 12 weeks scan; think i will do the same this time around! mil will be excited (will be her 3rd grandchild) she just loves the other 2 to bits and spoils them all the time!!
my family will be thrilled too, just a shame that they won't see it - the only downside when you live abroad! - not sure if my mum can make a visit this time (she is quite ill) - might convience her though; managed with ds

RudyDudy · 17/02/2005 14:29

hello there - we're telling people but doing it in low key rather than a big celebratory way. I can't be doing with the pretending to drink, not be tired, etc and I think that if something were too happen then I would want the support of my friends and it would be easier if they knew what was going on. I'm also far too impatient to be keeping secrets

Did contemplate not telling people and wondering how fat they would let me get before curiosity overtook politeness!

Am pretty tired today as DS was up in the night. Horrid horrid teething. Can't believe I actually want to do it all again!!

RudyDudy · 17/02/2005 14:30

*to happen not too - sorry, brain going already

SusiS · 17/02/2005 14:53

just ignore them typos - we do too

last time i worked till up to 1 week before ds' due date (had a quite easy pregnancy!) - and so in month 8 one collegue came up to me and said "congrats! i just heard you a prg!! and i thought you are getting a bit fat!!!!"

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 15:39

Lol... I'm in the process of telling everyone sort of 'quietly', a few of my friends 'in real life' are on mumsnet so I'd better get on with it! It's Theo's (DS) birthday on Friday and I'm telling my family then... I told everyone last time within about 2 months for the same reasons as RudyDudy.... oooh speaking of RudyDudy and morningpaper I remember you from the TTC board that I rudely disappeared from...extra congrats!!

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 15:40

I was on the travel bands last time round by the time I got a few months into it... it sucks doesn't it!

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 15:48

Oh poo I should have kept it a secret I just really upset my friend ...yay

Lexie100 · 17/02/2005 16:01

We have only told our parents so far.... although i have a hen weekend this weekend and i don't want anyone to guess or for me to let slip. My sis in law will be there and her DS is 2 months. Will have to lie, lie, lie.

Eating dry crackers as it is the only thing i can stomach (pasta for lunch not good). How long does this last??????????????

morningpaper · 17/02/2005 17:38

Ugh anough 5 weeks or so Lexie...

How did you upset your friend Fastasleep?

I didn't confess to my friends - wore a long jumper. Look FAT but no one commented. Actually one of them has just annouced that she is pg so I didn't want to spoil her limelight.

OP posts:
SusiS · 17/02/2005 17:41

oh fastasleep, why upset her????

trying to get 5 min away from ds. dp is meant to play with him, well, dp is laying in front of the tv.

now ds can crawl there is no escape

Fastasleep · 17/02/2005 17:52

It's a long story... she comes on here so she would have found out from my babblings... she's still very upset from a really nasty m/c 2 months ago... I hope she doesn't mind me saying, it's nothing she's not posted before... siiiiiigh she would have known from my puking by next week anyway! Just hope she's ok..

bonniej · 17/02/2005 18:38

I've told everyone except my sis who lives in the Bahamas (just in case anything goes wrong she's so far away she'd worry). Still feeling tired and can't get motivated to do much around the house. Dh works nights so has his main meal when he gets in the next morning. This morning I woke up to the smell of curry!! That's just not what you want to smell first thing in the morning when pg. He said he'd eat less smelly meals in future Glad everyone else is well, and well done you lot who have managed to keep it quiet. I'm terrible with secrets.

hushh · 17/02/2005 18:59

Hi - can you believe I just did another test! I know, silly isn't it ! Its still positive ! Not sick at all but I wasn't with DS last time. Horrified to find out that I've put a couple of pounds on already ! WHY its only the size of a tadpole !!!

SusiS · 17/02/2005 19:03

lol hush, just my words!!! WHY???

bonnie: my dp works nights too (10-6) and has his mainmeal at 7pm so we get to eat together

but very considerat of yours to keep the smells away!!

Lexie100 · 17/02/2005 19:27

I had a Dr's appt last week and basically talked about the scans and what not to eat. I didn't have my blood pressure taken or a urine sample or anything. I phoned the surgery today to see when i needed to go back and apparently not till 24 weeks! Is this usual? I have shared GP and midwife care.

I thought they did an indepth interview type thing or is this with the midwife? At the time i didn't know what to expect but now reading about it i have got myself confused. When do i get to see the midwife?

anyone help??

tiggerintum · 17/02/2005 19:33

lexie 100 - I had an in-depth interview with my midwife at 8wks! so I would think you need one too I would check with your surgery. I am 17 wks pregnant and by the time I get to 24wks I will have seen my midwife 4 times and had 2 scans!! so definatly think theres something wrong there! they need to make sure bubba developing ok and stuff. what area do you live in??
