Good news Penpal.
Hope everythings OK Hush.
Hate to say I told you so Elf1981.
Welcome and Congratulations Montaguemonkey.

Ds decided to climb into my bed at about 11pm last night which is a bit unusual. Soon found out why as he projectile vomited for the rest of the night. He wants to go to the play barn now and can't understand why I am not keen.

triceratops · 25/02/2005 10:15

I have just been to Asda to buy some "fat but not quite pregnant enough for maternity" clothes. Ugly and not the best cut but cheap as you like. Before I had kids I shopped at Hobbs and Karen Millen and wouldn't be seen dead in such things. I couldn't fit into them now

triceratops · 25/02/2005 10:16

Morningpaper the mere thought of a cheeseburger at this time in the morning is enough to make me turn green. And not with envy.

morningpaper · 25/02/2005 10:18

I think I'm so terrified at the constant nausea that I have to stuff in anything I can manage to keep the nausea at bay for a bit longer.

I'm averaging 12 hours sleep a night! DH feels like he hasn't 'seen me' for weeks. He asked what week we were last night and when I said "8 weeks" he couldn't believe it - he said it feels like I've been pregnant for months! Imagine how I feel!!

hi-hi.
As I wasn't feeling pregnant, like I felt with the other 2, I started to get a bit worried (didn't help that I read too much of the threads about missed miscarriage). With dd I knew I was pregnant even before 5 weeks because of these "hot flushes".
Anyway, went to buy another kit and still BFP. So I suppose it's for real...

Joseyjo · 25/02/2005 13:11

HELLO EVERYONE!!!!

I am in a top top super mood today!!! I just spent 3 and a half hours (yep - count themm...) in the pregnancy assessment centre waiting for my dating scan, but it was worth it. I officially have an 8 week and 1 day old bean!!!!!

I still feel like poo and may have to start chewing carpet as there is no food in the house but i don't care!!!!!!!

It is the first time i have EVER had a scan with an unequivical (sorry re sp) result. mf is happy, consultant is happy, i am happy!!! even dh is quite pleased!!! only 3 weeks to the next one incl nuchal fold thingy. can't wait. also have little picture, but it is all curly and has a tail, so doesn't really look like a baby yet...

Joseyjo · 25/02/2005 13:35

ok - so no-one wants to talk to me.. i suppose i am in an irritatingly good mood.
I had better stop staring at this screen and go and get on with the painting.
humph.

hushh · 25/02/2005 14:10

Lovely Joseyjo & great news penpal. I'm still waiting, spotting was worse this morning but (fingers crossed & dare I say it) is easing up now. Congrats to all the new posters on here. Sorry been a bit wrapt up in my thoughts lately. But the support on heres been fab. Especially since no else in RL knows apart from DH. I'm still trying to stay positive but also trying to prepare for bad new too just in case

Woodelf · 25/02/2005 14:12

Hey JosieJo,

Glad you're in a good mood today! Can you just walk in somewhere and get a scan as I am 7+5 and want to see baby Woodelf being healthy so I can really believe it's happening. Last time I was pregnant I miscarried and they found out at the scan the baby wasn't alive and I saw it only then on the screen. I'm desperate to see a live baby so I can move on from that one and focus on this pregnancy! So far have a booking in appt at local clinic for 1 April, no mention if they can do scan, plus no appt for Nuchal either. Getting a bit edgy about this as the days go by!

Joseyjo · 25/02/2005 15:23

woodelf
i don't think you can request an early scan (ie b4 12 weeks). last time i had one because i was spotting at about 8 weeks. i suppose you could fib, but i wouldn't want to tempt fate. you could go and see your gp/mw and explain how anxious you feel. depending on their personality/mood they will probably help you. you have to be firm to get what you want!!!

hushh - sorry for being overly cheerful... i had spotting last time and it was really stressful... it is really really common though so try not to worry.

bit calmer now as am tired from painting woodwork.. dull dull dull.. better than working i spose..

morningpaper · 25/02/2005 15:30

Good luck on Monday Hushh, I hope all is well. fingers crossed for you! xx

Afternoon all, Have had a really shitty week. Felt sick constantly, so so tired and just depressed. Think body was going through serious hormone thing. But today feel better as went to the early preg dept for scan and could see heart beat. I'm dated at 7+1. Can't really believe it. Cyst not grown so they think it will all be ok. I have Nuchal at 12 weeks and then other scan thing at 23 weeks so not out of the woods but feeling more positive. could really do with a glass of wine but i guess will hold off and have tonic water instead. Ohh phoned MW and they can't do booking appt till i'm 16 weeks not impressed but nothing i can do. Have a good friday night all.

Fastasleep · 25/02/2005 16:44

Good news pnepal! Good luck hushh... Sorry you're all feeling as sick as me lol... I must have looked like a totally anti-social person at my baby group today, I was just trying not to open my mouth!

Fastasleep · 25/02/2005 16:44

Sorry penpal terrible at typing...so tired... will catch up with you guys soon

Kiwifruit · 25/02/2005 17:08

Hi Woodelf

I just made an appointment for a dating scan, as my booking in appointment (which apparently includes a nuchal scan) isn't until 14 weeks 2 days, if my doctor's dates are right, and this is too late for a nuchal. Called the Fetal Medicine Clinic in Harley St (ph 0207 486 0476) to make an appointment for a nuchal, as am very keen to have one, and the receptionist recommended a dating scan first (having asked me more questions than my doctor did, and established that the doctor's date is quite likely to be wrong!). This will tell me exactly how pregnant I am, so will then know if my booking in appointment is too late for the nuchal... Whew! The dating scan costs £100, but have decided to just do it, as feel completely at sea at the moment, due to completely unforthcoming doctor - and like you want to check all is OK (call me paranoid!).

HTH

montaguemonkey · 25/02/2005 20:46

Hello again all,

Very interested in nuchal scans, as I thought I knew everything there was ever to know about pregnancy having read everything possible about it during my last one. But, nuchal scans never came up - obviously know what it is for, but is it something that is offered as part of the service in England, or do you have to go private? I never considered it and no one ever suggested it, but now I want to know more...advice please!

MM

morningpaper · 25/02/2005 20:50

Montague:

(I copied this from a website)

The Nuchal scan (or the nuchal translucency scan) is a special ultrasound scan used to measure the nuchal fold at the back of the baby's neck. It is thought that babies with a particularly thick nuchal pad at the back of the neck are at a higher risk of suffering from heart defects, Down's syndrome or some other chromosomal problem. Once the risk factor is calculated using this scan, you will be offered a subsequent amniocentesis or other invasive test to confirm, or rule out, these suspicions.

The nuchal scan is not available in all hospitals.

Only 7 per cent of women are offered the nuchal scan on the NHS but it is available privately across the country with fees ranging from £90-£150.

morningpaper - thanks for info, I don't think we will go for it as have no money as wanting to buy a house! Interesting though that others are considering it as it has never come up at all with any of my friends who have children. Maybe not done so much in Scotland!

alterego · 26/02/2005 21:09

[Tentatively stepping over threshold]

Can I join in please? I'm 7 weeks pg, in theory due Oct 14th, but have had 2 miscarriages at 10 1/2 weeks and 2 at 5 weeks so not counting any chickens. Saw GP yesterday who reluctantly agreed to refer me straight to EPDU (GP thinks of me as "only" two mcs). Said lots of clueless remarks about "no reason that this shouldn't be a healthy pregnancy" and "you've got to 7 weeks so it should be OK now" - I told him, I've had two mcs at 10 weeks which were completely symptomless until I started bleeding at 10 weeks - why should this one be any different? Anyway, I'm referred to EPDU so hopefully I will find out v.soon if this one is the real McCoy.

Lexie100 · 26/02/2005 21:29

Hello there alterego. Oh i hope everything goes ok. When is you scan with the early preg dept? Dr's can be so horrid . do let us know what happens and good luck.

alterego · 26/02/2005 21:41

I haven't been given the date yet; EPDU will ring me next week - I've been to them before and I'm sure the lovely sonographer will be in touch as soon as she receives my name because she was adamant that I should be scanned early this time.

SusiS · 27/02/2005 07:21

welcome alterego! and fingers crossed! but everything will be fine

went to bed at 8pm yesterday - was just so dead tired!!!!!!
dp was a star yesterday and looked mainly after ds, so that helped alot!

i am very tired atm and just everything i do wears me out immediatly!!! still not very hungry! but the feeling sick is getting better

Fastasleep · 27/02/2005 09:36

Welcome alterego I hope you get that appointment super fast!

Susi I feel exactly the same! Ugh! It was Theo's party yesterday...he slept in our bed the whole night before and woke us up every hour and then DH and me had to rush around all morning making sandwhiches etc etc... then the actual party was a bit frantic..... [zonked emoticon] sorry your little one's not feeling so good, Theo isn't either I fed him something that didn't agree with him and he spent the next two days puking ....so tired! Lol
