Hello Everyone,

Can i join your group. I have been following your posts for sometime now. congratulations to all .

I am currently 6wks 4 days and due oct 17th. I am having twins, this is first pregnancy and very nervous. Especially because of the twin factor. I am 36 years old and DH is 40. He is not quite excited because of the twin factor. But i know he will come around, he already is. I have had one scan already and am going for 2nd one tomorrow. We hope to hear heart beats on tomorrow's scan. I did the IVF procedure and conceived on the first try, and we are thankful for that.
I am glad to have others to going through this pregnancy with.

Thanks ladies, I just left one of my doctors office. I see a High Risk doctor as well as RE doctor. I will be released from RE next week.

Susis i just stop and got me big milkshake on my way back to work. My doctors says everything is looking good. So i decided to treat myself. Morningpaper i don't if i'm so lucky yet, I have to get out of this first trimester.

RudyDudy · 22/02/2005 21:31

hi expressmommy - sorry I can't answer your specific question but hopefully someone will be able to soon. It does sound promising though - good luck

Congratulations and welcome Sapphire . We'll all get through the first trimester together! I can't wait for another 6 or so weeks when we can start talking about something other than how sick we feel - lol

btw - fish and chips were fab

sapphire35 · 22/02/2005 21:35

Hi Expressmommy congrats .
I had the clear discharge during my 4.5 week, I had it twice and everything turned out fine.

expressmummy · 22/02/2005 21:53

Tommy · 22/02/2005 21:55

Hello...(she said tentatively)can I join your gang? Due 20 October but haven't told anyone yet (except DH)Ssshhh

Elf1981 · 22/02/2005 22:43

Morningpaper - just read your posts about pregnancy books and LOL. Best laugh I have had today. I brought a few books from ebay whilst TTC. I am the proud owner of:

What to Expect when You're Expecting
Pregnancy, Conception & Birth
The Best Friends Guide to Pregnancy
What to Expect when your wife is Expanding
Mums on babies (mumsnet book)
Books freebie Pregnancy & Parenthood book.

TBH, I dislike the first one. It's my first pg, and started reading it when found out was pg, and disliked any comment about morning sickness, as I feel a freak for not having it.
On the other hand "wife is expanding" is so funny. I wrapped it up and gave it to DH when told him I was pg. No real correct advice, but each month there is a "What your wife will be complaining about" which I found so much fun.
The best ones I have read are the books free book, with a detailed week by week guide as to you and your body, and the mumsnet book, which led me here.

Still no "morning sickness" as such, but do tend to feel faint / squiffy if I haven't eaten in a while. So at 11:30 though I was dying and had to have crisps, and at 6:30 at some food whilst walking around the supermarket. The cashier glared at me putting the wrappers through to charge me. Was going to say I was pg in my defence, but my mum works there so decided not to!

Off to bed now. DH is sleeping on the sofa and I cant seem to wake him up. I used to wait up for him, but have the feeling that I'll be asleep before head hits pillow tonight, as didn't get chance for a nap so am shattered!! And look at the time!

Love Elf

Elf1981 · 22/02/2005 22:45

Ohh, can tell how tired I am. The freebie book was from BOOTS not Books!! But the bright side is I am consistant with my errors!

sapphire35 · 22/02/2005 22:48

I have couple of questions. How do you go about getting a midwife and do you really need one? Does your doctor suggest this for you or you decide its what you want? Last question does your insurance pay for this?

SusiS · 23/02/2005 06:29

morning ladies! had a night! not because of ds; nope - dp is dying this time! luckily i went to bed at 8pm - but as soon as dp followed that was me! even tried to move out to the other room; no luck!
aaaaanyways: ds seems quite happy (standing in front of the tv 2cm ) - dp still in bed - it's still dark today

SusiS · 23/02/2005 06:37

yesss sapphire; i do love the ones from bk

welcome expressmummy, and we hope you'll stay with us

and welcome tommy!! secret here too; well, dp knows of course - i am 8+2 btw

lol elf, i'll have to dig out my books today; i'll keep you posted which ones (migth be long list ) and what i think was the best help

sapphire: you should go and see your gp; they take some details and send it off to your hospital. and normally a mw will contact you (or you might get a list with names to contact) and arrange an appointment. - there are diff ways i think: either hospital only/ or hospital-gp shared - but there usually is always a mw involved! all the scans obviously are in the hospital; you should get the first scan date through the post. - i had a very good experience with my midwifes (it's not only one, it's a team!) and you can ask just anything!!!!

jessicasmummy · 23/02/2005 09:04

can i ask a probabyl silly question.....

im getting a few little cramps really low down.... is this normal? i cant remember whether i had these with jess or is it something i should be worried abnout?

Tommy · 23/02/2005 09:14

I get them too - thought my period was coming for about 2 weeks but then DH reminded me I got thm last times as well!

Fastasleep · 23/02/2005 09:52

Hi... not got time to read all the messages lol but I'm getting cramps too, and I got really bad 'shooting' pains last time as it implanted and got well stuck in...it is normal you probably just forgot about it

hushh · 23/02/2005 10:26

Hi everyone. Still spotting - phoned docs but they weren't too concerned. Just told me to take it easy & to phone back if I was in pain or had severe bleeding like a period. I had it with DS but can't remember really what it was like so I am still a bit worried really. The fact that its brownish & not bright red makes me feel a bit better (sorry if thats too much info for those feeling sicky) - it could be 'things' settling down. I had a few crampy feelings the day before. Thinking positive vibes anyway.

triceratops · 23/02/2005 10:33

Welcome Sapphire. Congratulations to you and your dh. As far as I know most health insurance in the UK specifically excludes normal pregnancy and birth from its cover. A private midwife costs about £6000. Luckily for most of us the NHS service is fantastic (or it was for me).

triceratops · 23/02/2005 10:38

Just to add my experience. I had a (mostly) homebirth with my ds and it was terrific. I had nothing I would actually call pain until crowning and then it was only a stinging sensation. I had been terrified about the birth and expecting agony but it was not even as bad as going to the dentist for me. It was one of the best experiences of my life. That being said I do agree that birth experiences are 99% luck. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

SusiS · 23/02/2005 11:16

so, just came back from shopping and ds is asleep; and dp too
just had a very nice hot chocolate (and not feeling sick for the first time!!!!) - might get another one; need the dairy

i too get some stinging pains every so often but i put it down to "everything's settling down" - just imagine what's acutally going on in your body now

jessicasmummy · 23/02/2005 11:30

ok, ill admit - i was probably worrying over nothing! All is better low down now, and if its not tmi, i think a lot of it had to do with the big poo i have just done!

jess is asleep, so i know i probably should get my head down, but im too involved on here!

littlerach · 23/02/2005 11:37

goodness me, thought i'd heard a rumour, jm!!!
congratulations my dear, didnt take long then!!!
good luck for the move!!!!!!!xxxx

Joseyjo · 23/02/2005 11:49

I had cramps and spotting for about 3 weeks last time, but I haven't had them at all this time. in fact it has all been totally different. aren't bodies wierd?!!
2 days till my scan.....
