may have missed part of the discussion but why can't you have pram delivered to you????

you are so much more organised than me and this baby is almost def going to be here in 4 weeks - have sorted out two bags of washing that need to be done all slightly grey should be white babygros

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 22:24

because I'm a supersticious muppet that can't have a new pram in the house before baby arrives and have made everyone else on here promise not to do so either

your dd sounds divine by the way, could do with her here to make some lists for me too

we must have shopped in same place for the grey babygrows!

dizzy earplugs for me too please! DH's snoring has been waking me up every night (don't know why it is so bad at the moment). Last night, to give me a full night sleep, he slept in the spare room (bless)...

I have found asda a blessing through this preg - has let me buy a few normal clothes without having to spend loads on mat wear. AND one pair of trousers is still a size 12 (so to MIL and her 'can't believe how big you are' comments).

gigglegirl · 16/06/2008 22:29

oh well i'm def stuffed as have already got two prams here (jane powertrack and phil and teds) which I will be selling as soon as I get my arse in gear! But am picking up my M&P pramette and car seat tmw and it will be here as 1. have nowhere else to put it and 2. might need it for DS2 if I actually do sell the others! It's 2nd hand anyway so maybe that doesn't count! Which reminds me must order a buggy board sometime soon...... Another thing to add to my list or my DD's!!

readyforbed · 16/06/2008 22:29

Went to bed last night and had a complete freak we are having another baby, just when things are getting easier with the boys. Are we completely mad?
Am pacifying myself with the fact that this one will be a girl - so no extra toilet seat issues!!!

gigglegirl · 16/06/2008 22:31

readyforbed...

if only we had a spare room...... prob wouldn't be having a 4th

i regularly freak - 4 kids - in five years - am I truly insane!

gigglegirl · 16/06/2008 22:32

right i'm going to bed now - latest I have been up for AGES!

and am itching so much now that it may not be worth it but will try and get some rest.

night all

xxxxx

yep, me too (bed, not itching).

sazzles, deal on 27th - promise to let you know by tues/wed latest. sorry for being so vague, symptomatic of my life in general at the mo...

night night everyone

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 22:35

giggle why are you itching? is this the reason baby has to come out early?

am a bit of an itch cream if you want some suggestions

TwilightSurfer · 17/06/2008 02:28

Okay I have a bag and it is semi-packed. All the baby things are in it but I after review I think I want to look for a new cotton hat, cotton socks and maybe a new receiving blanket (only have DD1's and honestly they look a little worn now). My bath bag is in it. My makeup bag is setting beside it. I've thrown a few clothing items in it but I think that will just be one of those things I toss in at the last minute. I can't believe the amount of stress I now suddenly feel...BABY COMING....HOSPITAL SOON....HOLY SHIT!! DD asked me a hundered times tonight when we were leaving for the hospital and why didn't she have a bag to pack too. DH reassured her that the two of them wouldn't need a bag because they'd be able to come and go from the hosptial as they pleased. And of course she tells him, NO I'm staying with Mommy.... OH MY {{{{BREATH}}}}

I have a cup of peppermint tea and DD is already sound asleep sooooo I'm just going to try and relax, do a little online shopping, and watch a bit of reality tv.

I just found the coolest baby socks. Ordered the Mouse Baby Socks in Pink, the Starleta Terry in melon, and the Space Dyed Terry in kaleidoscope. AND THE DELIVER TO COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE US!!!!

Expectant · 17/06/2008 05:50

Hi All,

TS socks are lovely. Just wondering about the LO actually needing any as it is v.hot here.

Giggle - sorry you're having a tough pregnancy.

Have a couple of daft questions am hoping you can help me with - how big are your hospital bags? Have a general tendency to overpack in any case but a bit worried about turning up with huge bag for what will hopefully be a short stay

Also when does your belly button 'pop' if it is going to? Mine is increasingly shallow at the moment.....

Buckets · 17/06/2008 08:16

I forgot to mention yesterday I bought a size 18 boob tube in Matalan to wear as a mini skirt! Will give the verdict on practicality after I return from toddler group...

Buckets · 17/06/2008 08:18

BTW My hospital bag is just a sports holdall type one, about 2' long probably. Still loads of room too.

VintageGardenia · 17/06/2008 08:44

oops you are super, my book was here waiting for me when I got in last night! So I got into bed with it and have got stuck in. Anyone who wants it after me, let me know, I expect I should be done by the weekend. Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth, story of East End midwife in the fifties and the cases she deals with.

Buckets I missed your whole episode, glad to hear things are normal for you again. Respect to you for wearing a miniskirt. I bought boob tubes to use as bumpbands - definitely the less sexy option!

Exp mine hasn't "popped" yet but it's getting stretched out and shallow. Still an inny but wavering...

Oh Captain, my Captain, how are you feeling today?

poppy glad the funeral is going to be manageable in terms of travelling and that it will have a nice side to it in that you will see all your old friends, albeit in a very sad context. Thinking of you.

giggle your shotputter - I think I know her. If there's one thing I am firm about this time round, it's that nobody will yank my nipples! I did look at your thread and while I do feel for you, I really don't feel in a position to offer advice, I just don't know enough about it. I'm so sorry, I know that's such a useless response to get I hope someone wiser can advise.

dizzy whassa story with the prams, WHEN are we allowed them across the threshold? Do you mean literally not until the baby's in the arms? Does threshold of garage count? (Don't worry, I haven't transgressed, but am CONSIDERING options...) V of your Asda purchases.

Kept awake last night by DP snoring (poor fellow, is unaware) and by a fox screaming somewhere beyond the garden and by pins and needlesy arms, presume is cos sleeping on side all the time. Was so shattered last night couldn't even go to yoga (a first!) so going Wed instead.

Will think about bag packing this weekend. Do you think I'll look less than yummy if I take in a cotton bag for life from M&S or similar? Don't really have small suitcase and not partic interested in buying one apart from this one and am thinking perhaps a little extrav!

dizzydixies · 17/06/2008 08:59

*buckets - am LOVING the boob tube mini - I personally would have to buy two and wear them as shorts

exp mine is completely out there muchto the delight of the girls lol been wavering for a few weeks and now when I stand its definately out

VG dont mention it, can you believe I am such a LOON that the thought of this pram turning up kept me awake last night have made DH SWEAR if he's signing for it that he won't bring it in but put it into the shed - he thinks I'm a nutter with all this but I just can't explain it, a new pram should not arrive in the house before the new baby its meant for.

with dd1 my parents picked it up from the shop on the way to the hosp - tis pretty standard here for shops to hold them till the baby is born! with dd2 it was here because it was dd1'1 pram still and I think that counts as a loop hole? because this is a new double I can't have it in

god am a farking self confessed bloody weirdo

Asda purchases were shite not what I wanted so am only keeping one thing and taking the rest back, will need to pop into Matalan to have a look at some other cheap classy options lol

am LOVING your choice of labour bag btw and don't feel its exrtavagant at all!

I'll be taking a bag for labour and a seperate bag for any hosp stay the ensues, I just cannot trust dh not to turn up with something completely inappropriate

oh and VG am right there with you re the snoring, dh is still struggling with this horrible virus thing so is managing to snore even with mouth shut AND lying on his side he's going out with some colleagues tonight so am off to sort out the spare room (i.e do some ironing so you can see the bed again) as thats where he'll be getting put when he falls in at pished o'clock

gigglegirl · 17/06/2008 09:06

hi all,

yes itching is why baby will be here early - have something called obstetric cholestatsis - basically a type of liver failure (delightful!)

Vintage - yes that was my last shotputter experience nobody yanked my boobs after that and I have successfully fed three babies and trained as a breastfeeding counsellor and I can tell you that the yanking must be some sort of weird perversion I have never had to resort to it with anyone I have helped!

You are all so mega organised with your bags - I can't even get the house tidy and ready for work never mind get organised! Must really get on to that though seeing as I could only have three weeks left......

Had Ds1 at home so no bag and Ds2 I was at the hospital for a total of 3 hours inc. delivery and hearing test so didn't need much. My top tip though would be to pack another bag with your things in as if you were staying for three or four days (track suits, comfy clothes, book, sweets, emergency food). Then someone can bring it in if you end up staying longer than you thought. I kept asking DH to bring stuff in when I was there with DD1 and ended up with loads of stuff (plus all the pressies people brougt with them!) and no way of taking them home except endless carrier bags!

You have spurred me into action - I am at least going to write a list of what I need to pack today so I can start getting it together! Will post it here when I have done it if it helps.

Well best go and get dressed and think about going to work! DS2 is happily doing jigsaws and Tuesday is meant to be the mroning I rush round like a lunatic and get 4 hours housework squeezed into an hour but........ just can't be bothered!

HazieDazieandBaby · 17/06/2008 09:09

Hi girls! And welcome back to petitfilou and gigglegirl - you were being sensible when you decided not to try and catch up btw, your babies would probably be here before you managed that!! Glad to see you back too CC and that everything is good with you. Hopsital bag prompting noted! Mine is half-packed and have a 'baby pile' too just waiting for a bag to be bought.

Sorry to hear about your news poppysocks, hope you are managing okay and it's good to hear that you'll have company on the way there and back. It always happens that you try to arrange a get together for everyone that you don't normally see, but it doesn't come off and it takes something like this to make it happen.

LFWH, I love Tomas Agustin too! It sounds movie star-ish actually! Tomas Austin is lovely too, so you'll win whatever you decide!

Yay for you on the pram front dizzy! Which one did you end up going for? I'm sure someone will help you out with the storage - I wish I lived closer as we have loads of room at the moment and would have happily obliged.

Those socks are about the cutest thing I've ever seen TS! I love the mouse ones! I'm not sure that the postage and packing would be worthwhile to the UK though.

I spent yesterday evening in flatpack heaven after having the cotbed and single wardrobe delivered for the baby's room! I swear I missed my calling in life and should've been a joiner! I was loving it with my electric screwdriver and the amazing smell of wood! Needless to say my back is knackered today but the room looks brilliant and I'm really chuffed with myself!

I went to bed before DH the other night and he woke me up to give me a big hug, which made me a bit at first as it took me ages to get to sleep in the first place, due to my legs flipping 'Riverdancing'! When I asked him what it was for, it turned out he'd been reading a pregnacy book and got to the labour bit and had been reading about 'tongs and hoovers' which in man-speak I took to be forceps and ventouse! He said he hadn't realised all the stuff that women may have to go through all that stuff and just wanted to hug me for it! I think he's a bit freaked out now though, so not sure whether to take the book off him or not!

Oh and last thing, after the Isabella Oliver dress disaster, I went and ordered this dress in Aqua from Crave. Is it too fancy for a wedding though? I loved your suggestions dizzy but Aberdeen is officially rubbish for shopping and has none of the lovely stuff advertised on the internet.

HazieDazieandBaby · 17/06/2008 09:11

at your chosen bag VG! It's amazing! I was going for a £4 job from Primark...

VintageGardenia · 17/06/2008 09:12

I heard that there was some sort of aromatherapy remedy for snoring. There are 2 scents involved and you just leave two bottles open near The Offender and somehow miraculously the cure wafts in through their throttled passageways.

I'll try and find out exact details. Might be a humane solution.

You're right I must definitely have the bag. I'll order a few different colours so I can just take whichever one matches the stained old tshirt lingerie I choose to wear on labour day.

HazieDazieandBaby · 17/06/2008 09:15

I was going to suggest the shed for your pram dizzy but I didn't know if that was acceptable, your shed being on the premises and everything!

VintageGardenia · 17/06/2008 09:16

Don't worry Hazie tis in my secret fantasy life only. In reality will be few pairs of disposable knickers stuffed into the glove compartment. No way could justify that amount of dosh!

But a gal can dream.

And can leave links open for her DP to stumble across...
