hmmm, what were the visitors doing at the dance class to warrant dizzy calling the police?.....

Rest assured, am taking it easy. Mum is staying too so absolutely nothing for me to do except take it easy. I spoke to my manager today who said "I do hope you are not even beginning to think of coming back to work?" She's so nice.
I have a sick note for this week then have to see my own gp.
Slept brill last night (yes it is possible in a hospital) and feel even better for sleeping 3 hours this afternoon too!. Oh my Lord. Dh is hoovering as I type

I plan to have a bath soon, legs need defuzzing really badly, then I will go back downstairs to lounge some more on the sofa.

My one piece of advice it is never too early to pack your hospital bag!. Must get some supplies in so I can pack mine this week!!

gadgie: scumbag who generally does not work but instead chooses to hang about wearing shellsuits or similar/ too many gold chains and creating a nuisance; otherwise known as a ned/tink or layabout

no offence intended to anyone who wears shellsuits or 8 gold chains and rings that say 'mum' on them

CC glad to hear it!

Buckets · 16/06/2008 20:17

Sazzles have you not read/seen Trainspotting??? That's the only reason I know who the 'polis' are.

CC - did you hear anyone in labour / see any babies while you were in?

Def get those bags packed ladies, it didn't even cross my mind last night as I've got most of it done - it's nice to just focus on the pain you're in. Stick it all on your next Tesco shop and have it delivered, job done.

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2008 20:23

Captain sounds like you have all your bases covered with lovely help all around. Your advice is well received and now my toiletry bag is packed (except for leg shave cream) and my face bag is packed (mascara, etc.). I'm going to pull out my suitcase this evening and lay in it a few things that might need to be packed...I fuss over packing for a week on any given travel occassion, adding and removing a hundred times.

Unbelievable, you don't have Velveeta in the UK. That's a CRIME.

Dizzy you need a vacation from today.

I have just consumed two slices of cold Pizza Hut pizza . . . . . just waiting for the heartburn.

Here's a nerdy approach to bag packing, it's a customizable checklist.

evening ladies just wanted to check in and say hi - haven't been around much as this has been the pregnancy from hell and haven't wanted to bring everyone down as I don't like to whinge on and feel that is all I do on here! have been transferred to consultant led care due to a condition with my liver and looks like this baby may arrive in July and not August. Haven't even packed my bag yet or got half the things together but am picking up my new pushchair and car seat tomorrow.

am having a dilemma about induction or section - have posted on the childbirth page here if anyone has anything that may help me come to a decision!

Hope you are all doing really well and getting excited about our new people soon to arrive. haven't been able to catch up on all your news.

CC - hope all is well with you now - take it easy.

xxxx

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 21:11

gigglegirl please don't ever feel like you can't whinge to us, its the main reason we're here

will go and have a look at your thread and see if I can help in any way

gigglegirl · 16/06/2008 21:12

thank you - that is really lovely to hear.

readyforbed · 16/06/2008 21:19

Flippin eck you lot! How do you find the time?
Sounds like the last few days have been pretty traumatic for lots of people.

Poppy - really sorry to hear your news, I hope that you are OK.

CC - glad to hear things have settled down, must have been very scary.

Buckets - likewise on the scary front... have you seen a MW?

Sazzles - re zoo - could possibly do next Friday (27th) but things have gone a bit mental over the last few days (both work and home) so think it will have to be a last minute thing. After that we are on hols for 2 weeks from 4th - yay! but still no insurance for preg stuff so hoping no need for hospital bags - my French is no way near that good!

TS belated 'good list!' but bit at everyone else and to be the last one on the list... I am really hoping not to be the last one on the event. My preferred date is 15th August - but don't really have a choice on that one...

Glad everyone else is ok. Please slow down a bit or it is going to take me 3 hours each time I need to catch up ...

readyforbed · 16/06/2008 21:25

gigglegirl sorry to hear you are having such a hard time, nothing to say/advise I am afraid, but hope things work out well.

dizzy s'cuse my ignorance, but what is a VBAC?

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 21:32

vaginal birth after C/S

I probably made it up though

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2008 21:32

Giggle dear this thread is your one stop shop for all things, good and bad. If we only wanted to chat about the good aspects of pregnancy, we'd be chatting with our RL friends and family. Here you are safe to openly unload without any raised eyebrows. I'm sorry to hear this pregnancy hasn't been grand but can sympathize as mine hasn't either, although probably on a different level. Come back often and tell us all your worries.

Readyforbed, babies rarely come on their due dates.

gigglegirl · 16/06/2008 21:46

thanks everyone - feel like i can tell you all my woes now!

My RL friends are great but as much as I love them discussing my piles, constipation and painful scar is not really how I want them to think of me!

Plus my DH is great most of the time but no matter how hard he tries he will never truly understand what I am feeling (and sometimes I think he doesn't try that hard just in case he does get it a bit too well

gigglegirl · 16/06/2008 21:48

hmmmm just had a phonecall from the local Rainbow unit as DD1 is 5 in July and would like to start in September - no places til at least Jan..... unless I go and help and then an extra 5 girls could start - it's only an hour and I used to be a Brownie leader so is something I would quite like to do but not sure if I should commit now or not.... would be nice to have something that DD1 and I do together regularly. Much nicer to think about that then birth decisions and itching!

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 21:49

giggle was discussing the very same things with a friend of mine today but purely because she was with the consulatant I am going to see on Wed and she was giving me a glowing report on him

seriously though, the piles were the worst part for me both times and I've done an keilen high forcep VB after induction and emcs after 29hr trial of labour

tis no wonder neither of us can decide whats 'best' lol

absolutely - I could advise/talk through things with anyone else really well but I want to know what the RIGHT answer is and sadly no bugger can tell me!

my main downside of an elective section is having to stay in hospital - would be great if there was noone else there but it is just too too noisy and a private room costs £70 a night (if you can get one!) a cost we just can't justify but then the thought of no sleep because of everyone else on the ward and not just my little one is so unbearable!

I can tell some stories that are highly amusing at dinner parties about those I have been in hospital with but aren't actually that funny at the time!

poppysocks · 16/06/2008 22:03

Sorry to hear the pregnancy hasn't been good gigglegirl. My colleague has a theory that if you have a bad pregnancy, you have a good birth (and vice versa!), so here's hoping for you, whether you decide on induction or section.

What a day Dizzy! I had no idea things got so exciting up the coast! Def. sounds like you need a rest (and magnum) after all that. We've run out...

You too Buckets. Phew that things subsided. So glad to see you back too CC.

Things feeling a bit clearer now. The initial shock is starting to wear off and funeral details are confirmed. The timing is looking quite lucky as I'll have company in both directions. I'm taking a bit of extra time too as so many others will be making the journey and the crazy thing is that it's taken this to get everyone together properly for the first time since uni.

i remember trying to feed Isobel in the middle of the night and having my nipples rammed into the poor childs mouth by an over enthusiastic midwife (she bore an uncanny resemblance to a Russian shotputter!) and just sobbing I want to go home, I want to be with my husband, it was v v pathetic and quite funny now but I discharged myself the next day and got on so much better at home where I could relax.

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 22:18

gigglegirl ear plugs are the way forward!

poppy glad to hear you're feeling a bit better about it all - when is the funeral? remember you just have to ask if you need help with anything.

right, update on today's progress - I forgot to tell you about

bought a couple of tops in ASDA (classy boutique establishment if some of you haven't heard of it!!!) with button down fronts, am ever the optimist!

also some cheapy pyjamas - I tend to sleep in dh's or pants and not particularly what I want for on the ward!

a hand held fan for £1.55 - once again ASDA

and have ordered my pram !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just bit the bullet and stuffed it on the old credit card - the one thats never used except in an emergency [meep] but needs must and time marches on and frankly this sodding consultant could tell me on Wed that I've to have this baby in 4 weeks or something ridiclious

only problem is (and don't shout at me please) that because it's coming from holland the delivery address HAS to be that of my credit card statement so its coming here - FEAR NOT LADIES - I will NOT let it over the threshold and will plead with lovely neighbours to store it for me

that is if it is here before baby which I doubt lol
