thanks petit that reminded me to check M&S for school uniform 3 for 2 which is already on - I missed it last year so I must buy what I need for September!

alittlebitshy · 23/06/2008 17:29

Lasagne - there's something dd has been asking for for ages. Can you tell I haven't done much "proper" cooking since i've been pg???

I'm at work - feeling v rough - so dh is cooking for himself and dd. apparantly he'll do something random with pasta. DD loves his concoctions .

On the plus side re work - I have my smp1 form - so apart from needing dh to check though it for obvious mistakes I am ready to send it off. Better late than never eh?

Just had to buy a memory stick for dd. she's 5 ffs. She has show and tell on wednesday (her last one in reception) and last time we talked about it she wanted to show the pics she took at the butterfly house at London zoo over half term. So dh came up with the idea of putting them on a memory stick for her and asking her teacher to put it on the interactive whoteboard for her. blimey - the things 5 yr olds know now. dd can click and drag on the puter - and even knows about logins and password. I never knew any of that til I was about 18!!! I got a rather nice pink memory stick. I figured dh can enjoy its pinkness once dd is done with it .

ANyone else finding their matty bras are too tight? Sometimes I think mine is trying to squeeze the life out of me. Again I'm not willing to buy more for 4 weeks. Will go nursing bra shopping in a couple of weeks though .

alittlebitshy · 23/06/2008 17:30

this thread isn't even going to last us 2 weeks is it??

Buckets · 23/06/2008 18:06

Nope.

Buckets · 23/06/2008 18:08

I only got my MA form in 3wks ago, about 2 days before it was supposed to start, haven't heard anything back yet. Gotta get some stuff up on Ebay this week to try and bridge the gap!

alittlebitshy · 23/06/2008 18:09

On the sling discussion I've been doing some research and have come up with some options. See my thread on my dilemma. Any advice welcome.

alittlebitshy · 23/06/2008 18:11

oh that's reassuring! On the form where it asks have you stopped working for an employer to have this baby, bearing in mind I'm stopping next week, should i tick yes and put the following week as when I want the ma to start??? confused.....

TwilightSurfer · 23/06/2008 18:34

Sazzles, Just sent you my LIST. Beware it's LONG.

Petitfilou, When you compare the lenght of the birth to the number of years you'll be caring for the LO....the birth goes by in a split second.

LADIES we only have a few more weeks of pregnantness.....WHY ARE YOU STILL LOOKING AT MATERNITY CLOTHES!!! It's our right to spend the last month in the same outfit everyday as nothing fits for any reason.

I'm prepared to start the new thread at a moments notice. Already have several thread titles set to roll.

Dizzy, sounds like we had similar visits today.

I just spent an hour and a half waiting to see the doc for FIVE MINUTES. Seems he was the only doc in the office today and every lady on the planet girlie problems. He didn't rush with me...we just didn't have much to chat about. I measured square on. The baby's HB was 150. Pee was clean. Baby is basically head down but laying a bit cockeyed across my belly...apparently when I lay on the table it's very easy to see the outline of the baby. Told me to watch the BH. If they start up again like last week, he might check my cervix next time (07JUL). Baby's activity level is a excellent sign even if the flips and kicks are uncomfortable. Go straight to the maternity ward if I start to bleed, have regular contractions or my water breaks. He even told me I didn't even need to bother to call him that they'd page him once I was there. OH and he said I looked good. That about covers it.

ALBS I just posted to your thread.

TwilightSurfer · 23/06/2008 18:42

I was also given my pre-registration forms for the maternity ward. I'm to take them with me to the tour next Tuesday. There's "what you might want to bring" list there. I'll go over it and see if anything is missing from my list. Sazzles let me know if you run out of printer ink or paper while printing my own version of the list.

could you save packing space by watching dvds on laptop??

gigglegirl · 23/06/2008 19:12

my list combination of twilights and dizzies (but not that organised that I have put it into categories!)

bealcain · 23/06/2008 19:30

you're taking make-up TS

TwilightSurfer · 23/06/2008 19:30

The electronics section of my list does seem a bit much BUT it's really not a lot and packs nicely into my bag. I'm taking my laptop so I can post pics to the web and notify family after the birth (just consider it my little black book) and chat on here, of course.

Compared to what everyone has described here, my hospital stay will be like staying in a nice hotel for a few days....private room (& bath) with loads of amenities. DH & DD will be with me the whole time THUS the second video player. There's one in the room but I'd rather DD have her own personal player with earphones. She'll probably have her little handheld game player too.

Food isn't really necessary for me either. There's a little fridge in each room plus a 24/7 cafeteria, restuarant, and a Starbucks on site. The hospital is also in the heart of town so DH can pop by Chili's, TGI Friday's, Panera, Taco Mac, and several other local eateries for anything we might be interested in eating. It's also just down the street from his office which will be nice because he'll be in the middle of a BIG project on D-day.

I sorta feel bad about how nice things are but what can I do, hey.

Shazza2002 · 23/06/2008 19:33

Your stay does sound a lot different to how it is over here. All being well I will be kicked out in 6 hours. So will be partly glad to get home in own surroundings but does seem very quick doesn't it?.

TwilightSurfer · 23/06/2008 19:34

Bealcain...it's a minimalist bit of makeup just in case I get the notion to spruce myself up. Plus, all in all, I think it makes me feel better sometimes. So it can't hurt to have it.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 23/06/2008 19:37

Shazza I'm actually trying to figure out how quickly I can escape home. Our stays are typically 48 hours. I was able to get released at 36 last time. For CSec it's 5 days...EEEKKKK!! 6 hours seems just fine as long as there's no complications for either you or LO....I'd be perfectly happy with going home and saving myself from the nurse check every hour.

OH that reminds me......sleep mask!!!

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 23/06/2008 19:41

Shower: would be nice if they aren't contaminated with legionaires disease

After Shower: moisturiser, hair brush

Teeth: Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Floss

Makeup: Bag for head

Extras: ear plugs for blocking out noises of other peoples newborns

BABY: nappies, cotton wool, vaseline (for stopping meconium sticking), vests and sleepsuits

ME: pjs, bloody big bra for enormous norks, giant sized sanitary towels for maximum sexiness, breast pads to laughingly 'contain' leakage

Possiblities: I will look like a sack of shite, who walks like she has a brick shoved in her pants and comedy sized breasts which leak as soon as you look at them.

Here is a link to my hospital.
