albs you've got an email from me

VG trust me, if the bed was actually in our bedroom and not leaning against the wall in the nursery that's exactly where i'd be! DP's doing the decorating of our room. he's done so much today, i'm really impressed. ooh and we ordered carpet today so as of the 4th of july our bedroom will be finished and then i'll be languishing in my 6x7!
i'm in charge of decorating the nursery and i may well start on that tomorrow, we'll see, plenty of time for all that!
as for your diet...sounds like the perfect diet for a pregnant lady!
i haven't forgotten about your top... my sewing area is all set up and ready to use now so you're next on my list of things to do..promise!

miniSazzles well done for sleeping in your own bed all night!! that's fantastic news!

sazzles its not quite as tasty as a magnum but i've found that gaviscon aniseed flavour is great for the acid. "grace of a buffalo" I love it!
I think you're wrong about the hint of lilac look, you look ravishing!

sarah how are you and your rash doing?

TS my bum still loves you! its all feeling so much better today...thank you thank you thank you

i've been out all day today and i'm shattered. managed to find some wide white cotton so yup, i'm making my own sheets! £6 compared to £78...no comparison!
just shopping for bits and pieces including some nice black cotton knickers, they were only 50p each so they're going in my hospital bag think that's the bags all finished now! and yes, I am feeling very smug! cradle hasn't been cleaned yet but i'm getting there. oh, and i found some lovely cotton fabric for Pip's 6ft long crocodile... he's going to be bright green and sunshine yellow with a bean bag filling. I will definitely post photos once he's done but it won't be for a few weeks yet!

my tummy's rumbling.. who's turn is it to cook dinner tonight? definitely not mine after you all scoffed the lasagne the other night!

dizzydixies · 21/06/2008 20:10

sazz had you read the wrapper you would realise that the prescription is as and when required, every 2 hours if necessary

pregnancy1 · 21/06/2008 20:22

Evening,
Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow Miamla & hopfully albs too.

Afraid I can't offer dinner tonight as I met a friend for a late lunch today so have just eaten a chocolate mousse and some cherries for dinner . I have another mousse in the fridge if anyone wants.....

V disappointed today - went looking for cute stripey socks in Mothercare and didn't find my perfect ones . Made do with some 'emergency' ones and then made myself feel better by getting items for my hospital bag - got some eco biodegradable nappies (using washable normally, but figured I'd need others for the hospital). Then realised I had no idea how to change a nappy or what to use so asked some poor woman who told me you just used cotton wool and water for the first 2 months and promptly added cotton wool balls to my bag. How on earth can I be having a baby in less than 2 months and have no idea how to change a nappy?!?!?

Anyway, enough waffling. How are you feeling CC? Also, any news on the rash sarahnh?

cyteen · 21/06/2008 20:33

pg1 check the sock websites people have linked to one or two pages back...stripy sock heaven!

I've been thinking about maybe making some stuff for the baby - I often have crafty leanings but don't have much confidence in my abilities, so thought the early part of mat leave might be a good time to experiment. I was thinking of maybe just doing some simple painting/printing on white babygros, you know, cute yellow chicks, space rockets, that kind of thing. I've also got a brand new sewing machine that hasn't been out of its box yet because I'm too scared - miamla or other crafty types, do you reckon a simple blanket might be a good way to start off?

miamla sorry no tea here either, girls were given beans on toast as a 'treat' lol and I'm on a bag of maltesers

cyteen am right there with you - my fear of the Kenwood mixer has prevented me from opening it since my birthday in MAY!!!! and after whinging on about wanting one for ages AND I've made several cakes since

how about I'll make a cake with mine tomorrow if you get the sewing maching out

miamla · 21/06/2008 20:52

i reckon a blanket would be a great idea. you can make it as simple or complex as you like. And its all going to be straight line sewing!
simple option...buy one lot of fabric and just hem all the edges. medium option... buy two types of fabric, one as main and then have a border on all edges in the other one. complex option... buy a few different fabrics and make a quilt.
Even if you go for simple option you could still paint some rockets and things on there.
personally i'm planning on making a floor blanket/rug.... two layers of fabric with a layer of wadding in the middle with a border round the outside in a different fabric.
go on cyteen, you know you want to and i'm more than happy to help/guide you as much as you want!

miamla · 21/06/2008 20:54

sazzles you'd better stick with the magnums then!!

dizzy May's not all that long ago (i just saw my ice cream maker that has been in a cupboard for far longer than that!)

miamla · 21/06/2008 20:54

oh and baked beans??? as a treat??? they are spawn of the devil!!! i detest them!!!

dizzydixies · 21/06/2008 20:58

miamla I was hoping not to have to mention the breadmaker we got when we were married in Dec '04

my kids love beans on toast with grated cheese and I have to admit it was all I could eat when pg with dd1 and had terrible morning sickness - maybe thats where she gets it

miamla · 21/06/2008 21:00

hee hee i've got a breadmaker too!

Evening...{{{twilight plops down}}} I AM POOPED!!

Miamla glad you bum is better. That mix is a charmer!!

VG I just ate two pop tarts and a HUGE glass of milk YUMYUM!! Pop Tarts are WONDERFUL in my book. It's only a snack anyway. I had a hot dog with cheese for breakfast, then a bowl of Cheerios for snack, then chips and salsa AND a cheese burger with fries for lunch......will be wondering what's for dinner soon. Just an eating machine here.

Stopped by a little baby store today and had a look around. DH found a nursing chair he thinks we need (FOR HIM!). It was REALLY comfortable (rocked, swiveled, reclined). $800US though.... They did not have Moby Wraps and they did not have muslin blankets. That was the only reason I went there. Guess I'm stuck with internet ordering.

About to run out again as I forgot cat food. My manic eater gave me sour look when I got home a few minutes ago. Not only had he cleaned his bowl but he also cleaned all the pieces around the bowl that I spilled this week. So no rest for me....

Hi all,

I'm with Sazzles on the breadmaker issue. LOVE ours, especially the quick loaf when I realise we have no bread in the house and have to do packed lunches for the boys the next day... but definitely NOT on the cold baked beans front.

VG, can you let me know if the marjoram works? I haven't got round to getting any yet. V kind DH slept on the sofa last night - v unkind DS2 decided to wake up half way through the night and come into my bed - was too knackered to move him (due to previous snoring experiences) but then he pretty much slept on top of me for the night .

But on the 'haven't slept properly in at least a week' thing - it is always around 3am that I wake up, can't figure whether DH's snoring gets worse at that time or it is something in my bodyclock - it's not a birth adjustment thing, my current plan is for DC3 to arrive around 10pm so that the boys can be nicely in bed, and then we can get some sleep afterwards

cyteen, v jealous of a new sewing machine, it is something I have been meaning to purchase for ages... mind you, would probably have the same sewing machine scaredness...

dizzy will any flavour magnum do? Don't like white chocolate, but do like a reason to eat magnums!

pg1 - chocolate mousse, yum! Have been known to join the DS's in their petit filou strawberry mousses recently, but a proper chocolate one - now there's an offer?

ataraxis · 21/06/2008 21:24

oh, and thanks to (can't remember who...) for recommending The Kite Runner, I am half way through it an absolutely captivated.

pregnancy1 · 21/06/2008 21:24

Oooh - I can join in the eating rubbish competition. I had a sausage sandwich for breakfast (and Richmond sausages too - not even real meal ), double chocolate brownie for a snack, half a burger and chips for lunch (with french beans on the side for bean!) and then cherries, chocolate mousse and now frazzles for dinner. I'm hoping that 10 a day tomorrow will fix this.....

pregnancy1 · 21/06/2008 21:30

ooops - obv meant meat not meal...

anyway, how do you learn about how to change a baby/wash a baby etc and what to use (cream vs water etc)? Will I learn at classes (have 5 more NCT and 3 parentcraft NHS ones to go) or do I need to buy a book? I realised today that I'm expecting someone to tell me and I might be being a bit naive

Slightly ashamed to admit this, but I love a good wedding and have been known to buy hello/ok magazines to admire dresses etc. Anyway, was anyone else slightly disappointed by Coleen & Waynes wedding? It looked really nice, but not far off the kind of wedding I've been to (bar in ENgland with a slightly cheaper dress!). Am I going mad (can blame hormones!)

ataraxis · 21/06/2008 21:34

Hi pg1, wish I could remember... I think the MWs showed me with DS1 - about washing and changing - don't think I had changed a nappy either before him.

You very soon get used to it!

poppysocks · 21/06/2008 21:35

Just popping in quickly to say to Dizzy to have a great day tomorrow at Cairnie. Sorry to miss you. And Hazie too? Hope the rain holds off for you!

Went to Edinburgh zoo today with BiL and family. Children had a great time, but wasn't convinced on the whole captive animal thing.... Only bad bit was DD getting utterly petrified by a boy who'd had his face painted as a skeleton. She has never cried like it and unfortunately was right in the middle of the soft play area and none of us adults could get to her. T'was horrible not being able to get to her, but thankfully a 12 year old who was still supple enough to get to her did and got her out. 20 minutes and a shoulder of snot later and she was fine, poor lamb.

Hope your rash is ok Sarah

FAR too embarrassed to talk you through my diet, partic. recently. Magnums have featured heavily though. All you ladies' fault as you have reminded me of their wonder. In fact, off to the freezer right now...

dizzydixies · 21/06/2008 21:37

ataraxis the white ones ARE the best but needs must in times of desperation so might I suggest trying the ALL to find the one that works best - all in the name if science of course

pregnancy1 don't panic, tis what we're here for, I found I forgot a whole lot inbetween dd1 and dd2 so god only knows what I'll do wrong this time - never be afraid to ask

Buckets · 21/06/2008 21:39

Had one of my hysterical crying fits again at teatime, once again there was toast in the toaster but I think it was purely hormonal (plus a bit of tummy ache.) DH was about to go out for a band rehearsal but cancelled (promises me I am not a manipulative cow and says I'm more important. Cue even more tears for my super super perfect husband LOL.)
So we've had pizza and a bit of a ukelele singsong instead (hoping for a shag too if I don't fall asleep in a mo.)
Anyway, I've had horrid tummy ache lowdown since last night, but only seems to hurt when I'm walking or standing - what's that all about??? Pretty sure it's gastric rather than uterine so we'll see if the pizza can't beat it into submission. Oh and the whole bag of Waitrose toffees.

LOL at TS' DH craving for a nursing chair - try Ebay and you could have one each like Joey and Chandler .

miamla · 21/06/2008 21:44

ataraxis i've been waking up at 3am too! how freaky! not sure what's causing mine either!
