Hi Sausageandmash, welcome to the thread You're due on the same day as me. Sounds like you've had a real rollercoaster ride with this pregnancy - I hope things stay settled in the last trimester.

Welcome home Cavey, what a relief that everything is alright. Now make sure you put your feet up for real!

It was my turn to get woken up by the cat and not be able to go back to sleep this morning Didn't want to wake DP so came downstairs and did some work on my dissertation - actually got some really good stuff done, which was quite a surprise. Sometimes those quiet empty hours when your brain's a bit wrong can be very productive. Also wrote quite a lot in my diary, which was good for me.

Seen the mw this morning and my wee is now clear, hooray. Had a quick listen to the baby's heartbeat again; he must have been asleep as for the first time ever he didn't kick the doppler.

Buckets · 18/06/2008 13:37

Dizzy - thanks for that mattress link, have just ordered the aqua changemat as I needed a new cotbed mattress anyway.

TS - Got some alternative ingredients for your cheese dish - I figured a combination of ricotta, mozzarella and cheddar ought to do for Velveeta (poss slightly healthier too, it does sound like some sort of plastics factory by-product). And I got Tesco's own Tuc crackers instead of Ritz because I'm a tightwad. Waiting for Friday's vegebox delivery so who knows what veg will be the star attraction but I am determined to make it.

Sausage&Mash (is that code for S&M?) - glad you've made it this far, how's your organisation going? Have you been too superstitious to shop?

poppysocks · 18/06/2008 14:18

Welcome Sausageandmash and welcome back CC. Sounds like you've both had v. worrying times, but so good to see you (as it were) and your bumps here.

Bad morning here. I think it's because things are starting to sink in, yet I HAVE to get back to some proper work. Found concentating today (as opposed to not doing anything so far this week ) really hard at work today and totally lost it with a colleague who was trying to drop me in it over something. Totally shattered too. I shouldn't have been in work today, but had to to be off in lieu of time for the funeral, so no respite this week. DH also away with work on a horribly busy and stressful trip so no hugs from that direction. Back tonight briefly though and properly tomorrow, so that will be good.

Have been a v. bad pregnant mummy and living on caffeine (well, morning cup of the proper coffee and diet coke after that) and contemplating a glass of wine tonight. Will have only myself to blame if this baby turns out to be a hyper active drinker.

Sorry to hear about all this returning sickness. I really should stop moaning about other stuff as I know how lucky I've been with this pregnancy. Hope you feel better soon. And that naughty employers start to appreciate their pregnant workforce!

Hope you're getting on ok Dizzy.

Sausageandmash · 18/06/2008 14:19

Thanks Bucket and Cyteen for being the welcoming party! Yes, too suspicious to shop but thinking about it now (my catalogues are my guilty secret - to actually order online would be Really accepting the (hopefully - see, I can't quite leap for joy yet!) inevitable.

As for the name, omigod, I had not even thought of that! No, it doesn't stand for S&M - more like M&S I'd have thought ...

Hi guys, just a quickie.

CC absolutely fantastic to have you on here again, glad to hear you intend to take r&r seriously, so so glad everything is ok with the babba.

poppy remember your priorities, you and baby come first and everything else last. So if you need time off this week as well as funeral time, take and sod 'em. In the grand scheme of things, what's more important? And Expectant I'm wagging it at you, too. I am all for hard work and loyalty etc but if they're screwing you around, you just make sure you've got your balancing act right. They are making sure they've got theirs right.

S&M you are MORE than welcome, I"m 36 so elderly also. Glad all is good with you. Remember, we don't know you, so you can assume the S&M personality here even if the M&S one is closer to the truth.

Bad mummies, my arse. I had 2 coffees and 2 teas so far today and am fully intending to have glass of vin blanc this evening if make it past 7 o'c awake. At this stage (6 weeks to go for me) I would say, whatever gets you through the night.

God, I would love some sausages & mash (cooked by someone else, preferably Gordon Ramsay or someone, with nice winey onion gravy... mmmm... and delivered to me in bed). Gordon would be leaving IMMEDIATELY after delivering, though.

dizzy ducky what news from your appt?

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 17:45

evening all, give me a sec to catch up and then will fill you in on my continuing saga!

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 18:03

welcome Sausage - I think if I may, I might just call you that as I prefer it to S&M!!!! delighted to hear you're feeling a bit more confident about it all now, will add you to my fingers crossed list

poppy I can be there in 15minutes for a hug or punch on nose for employers - just holler! email me and we'll set up an alternate date for Cairnie when you're feeling up to it

are you lot piling on the naughty couch again? I wish someone had warned me so I could at least have hoovered so you all didn't think I was such a filthy slattern

sazz magnum whites in the freezer love, help yourself - how is dd doing today?

buckets very welcome re link, let me know how you get on with the adapted receipe and I'll give it a whirl

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 18:15

ok so appt was for scn at 10:50, was finally seen at 11:30ish, now having been an emergency apt in there myself I never mind the waiting BUT flaming Nora it was warm - dh fell asleep on the chairs and I was wafting myself with magazines like a looney!

sonographer was in a great mood and was very nice to me, answered a few questions and took the relevant measurements

off up to antenatal - pee in pot, no sign of protein, blood pressure spot on, bloods taken and measured fundal height - measuring 40wks and am only 34

oh and they also use the cuff labled large adult or small thigh for my bp - the shame

midwife was very nice and chatty and had a med student in too so midwife took great pleasure in recounting my previous births to her - nothing like being made to feel like an 'example' of how not to do it lol

consultant - who is a LOVELY man but looks like he is playing dress up in his dad's suit came in and had a chat with us

baby is currently measuring above average - no shock there
is shoulder presenting and lying across my stomach (basically due to knackered stomach muscles and lots of space) is generally head down then everything else across in a transvers diagonal effort ?!?!? DOES explain the movements am getting though!

went on to explain all the problems associated with VBAC - high risk of another severe shoulder dystocia and there is no mention in the notes as to why dd2 didn't come down - no measurement of head circumference etc

I have to have a glucose test on Monday (PITA) to rule out Gestational diabetes as if I have that he won't allow a trial of labour and another scan and meeting again in 2weeks to see how baby is presenting then - as he says am only 34wks and there is plenty of time to make decisions

he was really very pleasant and considering its NOT an exact science he tried to answer all my questions to the best of my ability BUT I found myself tending towards getting upset (but managed not to) I think because I knew we were now running late for girls, I was getting too warm AND he didn't come in and say - ah, Mrs Dixie it'll all be a piece of piss and baby will just fall out with a sneeze

I can't stress enough how pleasant he was and says if I DO decide to VBAC he will fully support me, if I decide to have an elective he has agreed we can wait until my due date and it doesn't have to be done before it

in short (and well done if you've got this far without nodding off - apologies all round) there has been no decision made AND my head is still MINCE!!!!!!!

Buckets · 18/06/2008 18:16

Hey VG Gordon lives near me! Things are getting gastronomical round here as Raymond Blanc has opened a bistrot in Winchester and Gordon moving to Romsey - can only assume he's planning to open up somewhere local too. So I'll be able to go get some Gordon Ramsay S&M one day soon maybe...

On the subject of food I've finally made a meal both the kids ate a fair bit of! Grilled trout fillet (1/2 price in Sainsburys), buttery rice with frozen peas, sweetcorn and soya beans (have you tried these? they're yum.) I feel like feckin Annabel Karmel (not literally, she's not my type LOL).

Dizzy if you'd hoovered you wouldn't be allowed on the naughty couch yourself.

OMG I just have sex on the brain don't I? Poor DH is going to miss this once the baby arrives.

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 18:19

pmsl buckets am so coming to yours if you live near Gordy

VintageGardenia · 18/06/2008 18:36

Oh Buckets me too!

dd sorry that you don't have a final decision. Oddest thing seems to be the way the baby's lying, taking advantage of being able to push the space around to suit, sounds as if you mean? Oh too tired to express self properly. If measuring 40wks - sorry to be stupid about this - does this mean likely if deliver on date baby will measure 46wks, as would be? ie very very big?

Sazzles 5.10am should be agin the law. Here - have a quilt and an eyemask.

VintageGardenia · 18/06/2008 18:36

ouf apologies garbled messages

TwilightSurfer · 18/06/2008 18:38

Dizzy, let me see if I got all you wrote....
It was hot but a good visit overall with no plan set for birth yet.

Still feeling like CRAP here. Baby is in the most uncomfortable position and I'm EXTREMELY tired. I keep eating thinking it's lack of proper nutrition. Going outside in a moment to rock on the porch and see if I can get her straightened out a bit.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 18:40

VG when you're my size its difficult to measure baby as who knows where I begin and baby ends iyswim?

dd2 was 10% bigger than dd1 and if dc3 follows suit whats 10% more than 11lb1 - where's sazzles, am too tired to try to work it out

on a plus note I have found a local antenatal yoga teacher who does private 1hr and a half sessions for £15 AND am going to meet a MNer on Sunday who is a doula so going to bend her ear off

Buckets · 18/06/2008 18:40

Apparently he is raising crocodiles to kill and cook on the next series of The F Word, not opening a restaurant. My PIL, champion nosey busybody of Olde Romsey Towne, has seen him about (and probably stalked him).

Buckets · 18/06/2008 18:42

12lb2 Dizzy!

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 18:44

12lb2

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 18:45

yes TS exactly that, sorry I never seem to be able to condense things

am I being silly to be a bit disappointed and upset by it all - there hasn't been a decision made which am fine with so whats my sodding problem?!?

VintageGardenia · 18/06/2008 19:27

dizzy I am not sure but I'd imagine it's something like this, that you are feel you ought to be reacting rationally, but are reacting instinctively. You've got both reactions going on, thus:

Rational reaction: I understood what I was told by medical professionals and as each piece was explained or pointed out to me I realised its significance. I can appreciate why, given the circumstances, no decision was taken today, and can follow the reasoning. Hence, I am technically ok with the decision and the grounds for it and cannot argue with it.

Instinctive reaction: Oh ffs I've been thinking and thinking I'd know today and I blardy well don't and it's all very well for them but for me it's another two weeks of wondering and how am I supposed to be able to plan for and imagine my labour when I don't know what the sodding hell is going to be happening!!!! grrrrrrrr

Of course I could be completely off, also. Hugs for you anyway. And don't talk about yourself in such a derogatory fashion ("at my size", that thing about the armband thingy etc). How would you feel if you heard your daughters running themselves down in that fashion? You are a superb, hardworking mother going through her third pregnancy, not always straightforward, and the last thing you need is to be heaping negativity on yourself.

Ahem.

thank you VG I think you hit the nail on the head there

I think am being worse this time as having done it both ways I wasn't best pleased by either and I feel this time any decision I make will have to take into account the girls, not just me and baby

will stop snivelling and promise to only be pathetic for the remainder of the evening

thank you for the supportive sazz
