loads of hiccups here. Why on earth does a baby hiccup in the womb?

pigleychez · 12/06/2008 13:21

oooohhh Ikea just called and will be with us in about 30/40 mins!

Been itching to get putting it up all day! DH has been entertaining himself by noisely shooting things on the Wii. Boys and their toys!

Ive really given up on all the celeb news... Just doesnt seem of any interest any more.

pigleychez · 12/06/2008 13:22

EEC-

Its because baby is practicing breathing. It swallows the amniotic fluid.

This LO's lungs should be well developed the amount of practicing it does!

isaidno · 12/06/2008 13:32

Got my tens machine, and mw called to say she will bring the home birth pack tomorrow - so it's long walks, hot curries and bouncing on the gym ball for me from now on (while slurping raspberry leaf tea!)

Also have had to start taking iron tablets, as after 10 million blood tests it has been decided that I am anaemic.

JODIEhavingababy · 12/06/2008 13:37

Oh ISAIDNO. I can't wait to get to 37 weeks. I'm so jealous. I can't have my baby at the midwife centre until I am... Only 12 days though until I am, that's scary...

Right I bet go and pick monster child up from nursery.. I wish it wasn't raining then we could go and feed the ducks or something, bloody british weather.

RUMPEL · 12/06/2008 13:54

Hi All,

SWEETKITTY - yep you probably do sound like that - sorry! But if you were brought up there it is highly probable, although my DH doesn't sound like that and he is form Saltcoats (his family form Stevenson). Hope today is not too unbearable with MIL - she might surprise you and be a star

PIGLEY - enjoy your furniture

KAZ - fingers x that all goes well for you.

No hiccoughs here but had them constantly with DD and she still gets them violently now.

This littly punches my nethers and headbutts my 'fanjo' (my DH hates that word) whilst kicking me under the right ribs and wriggling his/her bum in my midtum!! Very uncomfy.

I am mostly packed - still got a few bits to add to birthing bag. My tens doesn't arrive until 25th June.

I am hoping this bubba might come on the 22nd June but I dreamt last night that KAZ sent me a stern message asking just exactly why I wanted bubba early and that I was being selfish Takes ages to sleep then when you do you have weird dreasm that make it feel as though you haven't slept at all. Becoming unbearable at night.

My Empire biccies were pants Don't have the strength to cream the sugar /butter properly.

1/2 fish supper and mushy peas here tonight

I just watched the big babies thing. I am that the Mummy of the 2 stone 1 year old would feed her daughter a WHOLE bag of chippy chips in the first place and also that 2 young women who were mercilessly bullied for being morbidly obese would not at least attempt to start their children off on the right path. Poor boy has a life of hell ahead of him - he cannot even play with kids his age just now (he is only 3) never mind when he starts school - feel so sorry for him and so at his Mum. Scary stuff when you think about the fact that the teenage girls now are the Mums of tomorrow and lots of them are already obese!

I hate being fat!! I was always really big for my age - size 7 feet, 5'7 and size 12/14 in primary 7 (age 10) and have a paranoia about being fat. I was terribly fat as a teenager and utterly miserable ( I was very unhappy) but after this littly is born I intend to lose 3.5 - 4 stone and get fit again. I don't like skinny - I am a 'sturdy' girl by stature but I hate being fat!!

Anyway enough of my ranting - hope you are all well.xxx

Mummywannabe · 12/06/2008 14:09

Morning all, welcome to newbies!

Had rough morning today, felt bit flu like and took myself off to bed for a few hours. Feel much better now.

isaidno · 12/06/2008 15:48

Rumpel - I watched that and was horrified and very judgy judgy about the 5 stone 3 year old. You did not see that kid eat anything fruit or veg based at all. The mother is having a laugh if she thinks he will grow out of it. (and the 1 yo who could eat a whole bag of chips )

Programme didn't help me sleep though - had birth images swimming around my brain all night!

Heffagooday · 12/06/2008 16:14

Wow, I've been gone for a few days and now I'll never catch up

How is everyone? Any more babies yet?

Heffagooday · 12/06/2008 16:17

Ah, I see TJuice has a little girl - congratulations! That's so exciting

sweetkitty · 12/06/2008 16:26

I've not seen the programme. These women don't have toddlers to look after as well, out of all the diets I have tried the 2 under 2 diet is the best I think it will closely be followed by the 3 under 5 diet! I only eat when I'm hungry and never sit down.

Anyway MILs visit went fine, she brought her BF with her and they both took the DDs out for a walk for 20 mins.

Rumpel - I refuse to believe that DP or I sound that bad, I'm hoping 8 years in the South of England has softened our accents slightly. I am so intrigued now I bet I know your DHs family. I bet you are not fat at all and anyway feeding a baby and having a toddler is a great way to lose weight.

isaidno - I have to wait until 39 weeks for my homebirth although the MW has unofficially said that if I go before then just to phone her. I mean third time birth I could phone and say I won't make it to hospital send a MW NOW! Holding out for the 3rd of July here bang on 39 weeks.

Tjuice - Don't want to say what I think about GF anyway I read it thought sod that and came up with my own routine, this baby will just have to fit into our lives, her feeds will be around the other DDs as will sleeping, after 8 she will get me to herself though. Glad you found all the advice helpful MN is great for that I found it a godsend when DD1 was a newborn (and still do now she is a willful 4 yo )

Aggie and Donut - welcome be warned though thsi thread moves fast we are all a bunch of chatterboxes (or is that just me).

kaz - sorry to hear about the house move situation hope it rights itself soon.

catec - I wouldn't worry about BHs I have none whatsoever first pregnancy, I do think they get worse the more babies you have, anyway first time around not even a twinge (oh them were the days) until I thought I had peed myself at 37+5 and it was actually my waters followed by a baby 4 hours later!

mcchesers - it's normal to be nervous and stressed about labour but don't worry you will be fine honestly, if I (zero pain tolerance big wuss) can do it anyone can and hey I've come back for more.

EEC - I'm sure I read somewhere that hiccups in the womb are the babies way of practising breathing. I'm sure it's them inhaling and exhaling the fluid around them (could be wrong though).

DP asked me last night "so if the babies born tomorrow will she be alright?" I said "DP DD1 was born 12 days from now if you want to look at it like that, she is probably 5 1/2 pounds buy now" I think he is in shock, this morning he e-mailed me his emergency phone contact number. He's got a personal mobile now that I have to phone only if in labour and he's going to keep it with him 24/7 inc ase he's in a meeting at work and can't get to work mobile.

Sorry about length of post I never mean to write essays but get carried away.

I'm now officially immobile and on crutches, but my Bugaboo Bee got delivered this morning so the yin/yang balance is somewhat restored. Raging headache and swollen feet today so midwife came round, blood pressure ok and baby's heartbeat is at 150 so must just be bad luck+heat. Haven't slept for more than an hour at a time since Sunday so am obviously a little run down. Next pregnancy I'll put in an order for NO SPD!!!!!
Hope everyone is well, can't look at posts as my head hurts too much, off to try and nap.

sweetkitty · 12/06/2008 17:22

Gilly - bummer about the crutches, I'm very immobile now but probably don't need crutches just cannot walk very far at all, today DD2 ran away from me and I couldn't catch her Whats your bugaboo like then? Which colour?

(I STILL haven't ordered my pram)

Minkus · 12/06/2008 17:28

whaffi missed whaffi missed

Sorry not been about for a few days- the nasty sore bh's in my last post on Tuesday morning got worse and I went into labour! The midwife I saw examined me at 12.30 and I wasn't dilated at all but she sent me straight to hosp because I'm still 36 weeks. Was 3 cm dilated on arrival without really believing I was in labour as although it hurt a bit it was nothing like I remembered with ds. Not bad enough to really even worry about taking paracetamol although by 5 I'd got the hospital TENS on!

And then it all stopped. How gutted??!

Few twinges since but nothing significant so they kept me in for a couple of nights to monitor me and sent me home this afternoon. And I'm still cooking the baby!

Managed to find the thread at least

Not had a cance to catch up on all the posts so will go off for a read now

xx

sweetkitty · 12/06/2008 17:32

Bloody hell minkus - it stopped??!!!

How gutting for you I bet you thought it was time too, if your 3 cms already I bet it won't be long though

Hi all, just a quicky to say MINKUS blimy, what a palaver, and no baby yet! what a come down.... As SK says though, if you are 3 cm then it won't be long! Maybe you'll be next!

minipinkscottish · 12/06/2008 20:02

Hi all - will read everything later but just giving you an update on what's been going on with me xx
I just got home from hosp an hour ago after going in at lunch time yesterday.
Long story - short version.....had severe apin in right side and assumed urine infection AGAIN!! Got worse and worse so phoned and went down to FP - by the time I arrived was contracting every 5mins. I was 3-4cm dilated

Spent 4 hours in labour ward and things eased off...spent night in ward...started bleeding during night....errosion of cervix seemingly but 3-4cm dilated???
....saw fab consultant this morning who really listened and agreed that 1. it is big baby and so is making uterus irritable 2. perfectly healthy baby 3. rise in fluid normal for big baby and BEST BIT - 4. I can have home birth if I hold on for 3 weeks and if not I can go to MLU

Still twinging away tonight though so hoping it will settle more xxx

JODIEhavingababy · 12/06/2008 20:18

Not you too Minipink he he, must be something in the waters!!!!!

Polyxene · 12/06/2008 20:44

Hello, everybody!

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I just joined mumsnet last week - rather belatedly as I am due in under three weeks, oops, but better late than never I guess! I introduced myself on the MK antenatal club, but now I've found this thread, which is rather bigger! (I haven't even attempted to go back through the previous threads, so I hope you don't mind, I realise you already know a lot about each other, and I'm coming in as a bit of an outsider.)

Anyway, a bit about me: I'm due on July 2nd with a second boy. My first son is a bit over two and a half now. I've had a fairly rough pregnancy so far: bad all-the-time sickness from week 5 to week 20 or so, then as soon as that started easing up SPD kicked in, I have been on crutches for a while and trying to make it to the end without having to resort to a wheelchair. I also have ME which tends to compound everything. Still, I appreciate I am nonetheless better off than many people!

In response to something that was raised earlier - yep, both DS1 and this little one have been very hiccuppy while on the inside: weird feeling!

Looking forward to getting to know you all a bit - hopefully I'll have some time on here before baby makes his appearance!

Polly xx

JODIEhavingababy · 12/06/2008 20:50

Welcome Polly.. Sorry to here you have had such a rough time of it, but we are (mostly) serial moaners here, so get rid of your frustrations at will!!!!

Minipink sorry, just re read that last post and what I did mean to say was, Minkus had te same over the last couple of days and it's good news that you will still (hopefully) get the delivery you are after! I'm such a muppet x

sweetkitty · 12/06/2008 20:52

minipink - you as well? Looks likely we will be having another birth announcement soon although minipink you want to hang on now?

polyxene - hello and welcome to mumsnet, beware it is highly addictive.

Am so fed up tonight don't want to move as it hurts too much, will just stay here and MN all evening.

Just spent the past 5 hours puting all the new bedroom furniture together! Hard work but looks fab!

Ikea trip again tomorow to buy all the wardrobe interior bits and bobs and some nice boxes ect to organise my crap into.
Just had a takeaway chinese as a reward for all our hard work!

Rumpel- I too felt sorry for the toodlers last night on that programme. Parents didnt seem to be making any effort to help them.

SK- Glad your afternoon was good.

Gilly- Sorry to hear about your crutches

Minkus- Oh my god! How freaky! Just when you think this is it, it stops!

Minipink- Blimey! These babys def seem eager to come into the world!

Polly- Welcome aboard. Sorry to hear youve been having a bad time of it. Plenty of other SPD suffers on here.

gillythekid · 12/06/2008 21:18

Wow, a few labour scares then! Who's baba will refuse to hold out next?
Sweetkitty it's so frustrating not to be able to do stuff, can't imagine what it must be like with toddlers in tow, that goes for you too Polyxene (welcome to MN)
My Bugaboo Bee is FANTASTIC!!! It's yellow, nippy and really practical/user friendly and best of all, it was bought by the in-laws!
Pigley The crutches are a god-send as they take a bit of pressure off the hips otherwise I'm stranded! Physio said it's fine to carry on with yoga, aquafit and short cycle journeys (so glad!)
Just have to hold out till after the Radiohead gig (over the road in the local park!) on the 24th then baba is free to come. I have a feeling it'll be early, or is that just wishful thinking?
