Many congrtulations Twinkle and MrTwinkle, and I love the names.

Woohoo, last day at work today -so need to get on and clear my desk but couldn't resist having a little cheer (mind you, you'll all probably hear me at 5pm!!).

Heffagooday · 20/06/2008 10:08

Catec - congrats on one more week to go!

Mummypig - glad to know it's not just me!

SK - what pram are you getting? Or have you not decided yet?

sweetkitty · 20/06/2008 10:10

Sorry catec I was just following mcchesers thats my excuse anyway, I got "told off" at nursery that I hadn't signed DD2's acceptance forms when she starts in April and was meant to do it in May doh

mummypig - I cna fully sympathise with your situation we don't really have anyone to look after the DC either. My plan is for DP to drop them off at a friends house once the MWs have arrived, then SIL is going to come up to but she's an hour away. Friend has 2 young DC herself and works p/t so don't know if it will work. Like you am hoping it all happens in the night and they sleep through, DD1 did last time. It's just another stress we don't need though.

ohh congratulations Twinkle and much looking forward to the photos

Pigley - glad your BP is ok.

SK _ sounds like you had a fun night!

I'm another advocate of moneysavingexpert, in fact I must remember to actually look after the baby inbetween posting on here and there

Men and bed linen are weird, wednesday night chez Libras
"DH: I might sleep in the spare room tonight.
Libra: ok
Libra: you know upi will have to put bed linen on.
DH: ok I will sleep with you."

charming.

I seem to be the opposite to most of you re:DH, i don't think I have ever felt as close to him as I do at the moment. Yes we are having hormonal induced arguments but we are also talking more and supporting each other, I see him as an integral part of my birth plan. However this is our first so maybe the PFB mist is covering us!

Last day at work woohooo, apart from the fact I have just completely trashed the wrong test database. opps.

mummypig · 20/06/2008 10:32

lol at your dh libra

EEC · 20/06/2008 10:51

Congrats mr and mrs twinkle on your lovely boys. Everytime I log on now I expect another one or two babies!

Disney - it sounds to me like with everything on your plate you are going into some sort of hibernation, shutting out the world - and who could blame you. If you can, I think you should really try to talk to your DH about how you are feeling, and also your mw and doula. Just because you feel at the moment that you want to be on your own, the reality may be completely different when it comes to it, so I wouldn't burn your bridges so to speak - just keep talking about how you feel. I do know what you mean about feeling detached though. I am happiest at the moment when by myself - when DH is out and the DCs are at school. Dh has slept in spare room for months now, as I am so uncomfy and up so often, even having a cuddle seems wierd now. I am sure this is not healthy, but I do feel very distant at the moment.

Like the pudding chef it is quite possible that I will be on my own during labour as DH is going to be away alot these next few weeks and I am starting to get my head around the possibility. I think in this day and age there is so much focus on having to have a birth partner - and in most cases I'm sure it is a the right thing, but each labour is different, and each person is different. We will all get through this whether we are on our own or not. My sister had her third on her own, and she managed just fine! Having said all of that, I really did feel like I couldn't have done it the last two times without DH there. Very confusing! My sister said the wierdest part was having nobody there when the baby had arrived to say 'wow' and marvel at the baby with.

pigly - I hope your midwife is wrong about feeding times or I will be feeding about 6 times a night, and the baby will be up for good at 5am! Glad your bp has sorted itself out.

Hoovered whole house, cleaned bathrooms and kitchen (including floors) changed all sheets and could hardly walk by the evening. This must be nesting, as this is most unlike me. Nice to have it done though.

Have just eaten half a pinapple, but am not really hoping for any activity here as not 37 weeks until sunday. Still, I think baby dropped last night - definitely lower this morning- so you never know. Patrents coming for the w/e so would be good timing! Probably got another 5 weeks though.... Sigh!

bebejones · 20/06/2008 10:57

Morning all! Congrats to Twinkle & MrTwinkle!!

Pigley so glad BP was ok. Mine does random things like that too, although midwife this week said it can make a difference what type of cuff and what type of monitor they use, electric ones can give very different readings!! Fingers crossed it will stay 'normal'.

A touch of irony arrived in the post yesterday....a council tax refund from our flat from us having to pay tax when the tennat was in there! Not very much....well £80, so will at least feed us for another week or so!

Thanks to everyone for their words of support and advice. Was just having a very low day yesterday and it all got a bit on top of me!

Going to get moses basket stand tonight, and a little jacket for LO. At least we dont have much left to get, and none of the big expensive stuff!!!!

Just a quick question for the fellow SPD sufferers out there, and anyone else actually (don't know if this is SPD specific)! When you roll heave yourself over in the night does your pelvis make loud cracking noises that result in sheer agony? Has happened a few times now and is not pleasant to say the least!!

Mummywannabe · 20/06/2008 11:35

Congratulations to the twinkle family!

To all of you who are feeling emotional, in a way i'm glad its not just me. Actually was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with me. Been tearful on and off for a week or so. This morning the lady in supermarket told me off for not using tongs for my rolls (in fairness i only touch the ones i'm gonna eat and cause i have a fatal nut allergy the tongs are a no-no as they are used for all the bakery items). I tried to explain but she told me off like a child. Cue tears from me for about 1/2 hours, i mean please!

Waiting for virgin media man as phone line not working properly. He will have to pull sofa out to get to it and i can't remember last time i cleaned behind there!

Glad your o.k pigley.

pigleychez · 20/06/2008 11:56

Mummywannabe- Do you find you miss Nursery since being on maternity leave?
I though it would but dont miss it in the slightest!

Enjoy your last day to those leaving today.

Libra- Men hey!

gillythekid · 20/06/2008 12:00

Congratulations Twinkle well done!!!
Bebe Yes, my pelvis cracks and crunches in the night! Worst night sleep ever last night. I can manage about an hour on each side before the pain sets in, I was up at 2.20am, 4.20 am then at 5.30 I just stayed up for 45 minutes leaning over the birthing ball swivelling my hips and I took some paracetamol. By 7.30 it was unbearable so I got up and had breakfast and am now KNACKERED!!! If baba is late, I might have another 5 weeks of this and will go INSANE!
Does anyone have any miracle sleep positions for SPD? I'm very scared of being too tired to get this baba out effectively!

JODIEhavingababy · 20/06/2008 12:01

Pigley Glad your OK..

Minkus where are you... Everytime someone goes missing for more than half a day I start to get excited now! he he he (esp. when Disney has predicted something!)

BEBE Glad something good came in the post, better than a bill!!

I've just been to see the midwife and we had a lovely long chat about birthplans and such like. When disussing all my aches and pains and niggles, she came to the conclusion that I won't last to 39 weeks, which is very good news (but still not getting my hopes up!) BP Fine and bump measuring 33cm. She also said that she is very good at 'guessing' babies birth weights, and said that this little one will be between late 6lbs and early 7, which again is fine by me!!!!! I know he's not going to be a monster as bump is ALOT smaller than with DS and he was only 7lb 4oz. She is so nice!

Disney sorry to hear you're feeling down. I think what jules said sums it up really. I would have a chat with your doula, I bet she's heard it all a thousand times before!

Mummywannabe · 20/06/2008 12:01

Pigley - i thought i would miss it so much, been there 10 years but to be honest really don't miss the stress of it all. Miss the kids if i sit and think about it, especially when one of the girls text to tell me a little one took their first steps. BUT the stress with parents/staff - nah, its such a relief!

Already dreading going back, starting keeping in touch visits in Sept and going back in March (3 days per week). Don't wanna do it, but i might feel differently nearer the time. Have no choice reallly.

Your not going back are you? I seem to remember you wasn't going to?

pigleychez · 20/06/2008 12:16

Mummywannabe-

The intention is not to really. Ideally ( money dependant) ill be a stay at home for a few years.

Boss has already said shes knows im not coming back even though i havent told them that. he he.

I popped back into nursery to say hi the other week and the kids were all screaming and soooo noisy!! So dont miss that!

Jodie- Glad you have such a nice midwife- makes all the difference doesnt it.

Just painted my toe nails! Was abit akward trying to get into the right positions but they dont look too bad!

Minkus · 20/06/2008 12:19

Hi everyone

Yay for Poledra's last day at work! Wooohooo! You've done jolly well to last this long, a well earned break coming up.

Disney- so sorry to hear you're feeling poo. SOmeone else said it, and I agree- you've had so much to deal with that it's not surprising you have mixed feelings about dh's presence at this birth. Have you had a chance to address the questions you had a while ago about his fidelity? It must be something that is playing so heavily on your mind I can't begin to think how you've managed to cope with his heart condition, your ds's chemo, the new baby's bone problems and the 101 other things you've got going on in your life as per the norm too. I'm not that far away, I take ds to nursery in Highnam 3 ish times a week so if you ever want a coffee and some time to let off steam give me a shout and I can be in Gloucester really easily.

Big hugs in fact to all of you that might have to go through the birth without your choice of birth partner there.

Realised yesterday that if this baby is a girl I have absolutely nothing for her- not one dress or pink item or anything remotely girl like. Loads of boy stuff of course from DS. So bought a beautiful little outfit in the mothercare sale just in case, a lemon and green smocked floral dress with a yellow cardi and matching knickers, it is sooo adorable that I keep getting it out and going all misty eyed and sentimental! The further along I get the more I feel that this is a boy and it sort of makes the yearning for a girl a bit stronger- even though I will be truly happy with either. Odd I know.

Hope dp's/spd/other ailments have a day of absence today for those suffering!

xxx

Minkus · 20/06/2008 12:21

Sorry Jodie to disappoint you I am still intact and have not divided into two separate people yet

JODIEhavingababy · 20/06/2008 12:27

There you are!!!!

Libra1975 · 20/06/2008 12:35

Minkus, that does sound a gorgeous outfit, I keep seeing all this adorabe outfits but keep getting told that all it will wear is babygros!

pigleychez · 20/06/2008 12:41

Know exactly what you mean about the cute little outfits...

We dont know what this one is so cant really buy any Outfits as such . Just wait till its born! Ill be hitting the shops for pink or blue!

JODIEhavingababy · 20/06/2008 12:44

I love looking at the 'outfits' But boys don't look right in 'clothes' until they are a bit bigger! I used to dress DS up in stuff, but he looked so crumpled! Girls on the other hand........ ((((Goes off to stop thinking about number 3, before DH kills me!)))))

bebejones · 20/06/2008 13:03

On the flip side, we have been bought loads of girly outfits and dresses (I have been VERY restrained and only bought 1 dress) so I am really worried that if 'she' turns out to actually be a 'he' the poor LO might be a bit gender confused! Have plenty of neutral though, which is all I have packed for Hospital....just incase!!

Minkus · 20/06/2008 13:09

I was terrible for dressing ds up- as soon as he'd lost the newborn "curled up baby rabbit" look I went hell for leather - it was like a whole new world of retail therapy just opened up for me! I realised I could get 4 or 5 items of his clothing for the same price as one or two of mine- and that was it. Suffice to say I didn't shop for myself for quite a while, it was too much fun making my little man look gorgeous which of course isn't hard when you have a PFB because it will obviously look adorable in anything you select (although Minkus the retro car print shirt (!), leather car bootees and mechanic style jacket you put the poor boy in when he was 3 - yes 3- months old was possibly going a bit too far.)

Heaven help this one if it's a girl!

Libra1975 · 20/06/2008 15:12

1 hour 48 minutes to go.
