Hi all,

Thanks for the anniversary wishes
We went to Bodium Castle in Kent. Its a lovely castle surrounded by a moat with the most enormous koi carp you have ever seen!- Bigger than the ducks!!
Really enjoyed our trip but im knackered now! BIL and SIL gave us thier national trust passes so we didnt even have to pay to get in and the weather stayed dry for us.

Just enjoyed a slice of cake and a cuppa to recover. I had the top tier of our wedding cake made again for our anniversary. Its a yummy choc cake covered in white choc and white choc cigarette curls round the outside. Delicous!!!

LIBRA- Amberley is lovely... are you near me then?

SWEETKITTY- Liking the Boob tube idea, I have lots of them anyway so will save buying any.

MINNIE- Hope poor DH is ok... Must be abit scary.

RE Nappy bin- I have been given one from a friend.. not used one before, so will give it a go.

Got a birthing ball yesterday so been bouncing around the front room... much to DH's amusment!

Libra1975 · 16/06/2008 15:53

Thanks everyone and it sounds resoundingly as if the nappy bin should go on the wait and see list!

Just been to MW and everything hunky-dory, she thinks the LO is head down just not engaged yet. Not due to see her now till 39 weeks which is a little scary.

Pigley - we lived in Chichester for a while before moving last year to surrey, love love love west sussex and got married at Amberley castle.

sweetkitty · 16/06/2008 16:09

So sore and achy here today, went for 10 minute walk with DDs earlier and think I am now paying for it, been a bit weepy and emotional too, I know "it won't be long" but when you are at home with 2 DC heavily pregnant and unable to walk it's not much consilation. Hate this stage of pregnancy when you are big and uncomfy. Anyway it won'r be long

pigley - glad you have a nice day

Never had a nappy bin here either and never needed one, tried my friends and it was such a faff. We empty our bin twice daily never had a problem with smells. The refills are expensive too aren't they?

libralady - forgot to say Megan Louisa is lovely

Minkus - I'm with you it's going to be a long 5 weeks, I keep thinking surely DD2 was a fluke??!! This one will be an impatient little madam like her sister.

Belly bands here belly bands

Hey girls, I am shocked! I ordered some bunk beds for the girls from M and S a few weeks ago. delivered flat packed today BUT the delivery men are upstairs now PUTTING THEM TOGETHER!! how fantastic, my hubby hates doing that. And they were early and pleasant!!!

a gold star to M and S from me.

Minkus · 16/06/2008 16:54

SK that's my mantra now too "won't be long won't be long wont be long" . You really must be feeling it with your 2 dc's, thought I was tired with 1. Goodness knows how seasoned pro's like disney and butterfly mcq do it!

Result Cass about the delivery men putting up the beds- must be bunk karma.

DH just rang to see how I am before he leaves work for the day and I mentioned that I'm having some periody cramps but that I doubt they'll come to anything. He said quite rightly that just as I get used to these twinges happenening and learn how to dismiss them as nothing, my real labour will start! I teased him about having to deliver the baby himself at home and it went a bit quiet on the end of the line... think maybe I'd best get him to read the 1-page entry in one of my baby books about what to do in the unlikely event of an unplanned homebirth

sweetkitty · 16/06/2008 17:06

Cass - my plan is to get the DDs bunk beds next year when DD1 is 5 and DD2 3 1/2 which is similar to yours. The recommendation is that they should be 6 before sleeping in a top bunk but I don't know, can you let me know how yours get on with them, DD1 is already excited and can't wait to get them. Poor DD2 though not only is she being kicked out her room but she's getting the bottom bunk as well. Loving the delivery men building them up for you!

Minkus - I knew it would be hard this time but didn't imagine it being this hard, the SPD has been a lot worse than I imagined. I had it last time as well but it was easier then as only had DD1 who was 18 months and napped for 2 hours a day.

Went to antenatal clinic at hospital for scan d consultant appointment today my blood pressure was up a little and I had protein in my wee still no glucose though ;) and blood sugar was 6.4 now have a little machine to do it at home and prove to the sceptical sods my blood sugars are fine Todays appointment was not too bad despite this arrived early (you can never tell what Bristol traffic is going to do esp on a Monday morning) was booked a 9.20 was in there by 9 girl that did the scan was lovely the gert big lump trued to hide by turning side on (was back to back for a short time) one fibroid has shrunk 2 others they can see are slightly bigger but I knew that I can feel them one at the back they cannot see. Was in seeing the consultant (yep the consultant ) by 9.30 and she was lovely accepted my explanation about why I did not want a GTT and my logic behind it. I actually felt listened to today which is more than I have done any other time. LO is 1/4 engaged she is seeing me in 2 weeks to make sure they are down lower and no fibroid problems and will scan me herself if need be Waiting for results of blood and wee to see if I need a 24 hour urine (rung twice was told results would be back by lunch time still not back now) Also have to have blood pressure and wee checked twice a week.

Just wondered do these threads hang around in archives anywhere...? DH dared to mention a 3rd! (Sorry have to swear WTF!!!).

If in my weakened emotional breast feeding state (last time when I was bf I became a lot more calm, loving and caring - and started trying...sadly to avail)I decide it might be a good idea, I think I need to come back and read over our thread...SPD, ribgate, nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, coping with other little darlings...

Not to mention my career...which I have no idea how I a going to resurrect with the complications of DD in school and DS day care....wonky hours...arghhhhhh!!

Love Bodium Castle - went there on my honey moon - it was the first castle I ever went to! (was still living in Australia)

Off to Guildford tomorrow (I live in Surrey but London end) is that near you Libra? Friend is taking me out shopping and we have studied shop mobility options (really good). Don't really have anything to buy, but very excited about my trip out. Have decided in light of ribgate and coffeegate I should try and avoid cafes! But I just might be reckless!

RUMPEL · 16/06/2008 19:44

EEC ? iron tabs haven?t made me nauseous ? sometimes you just get nauseous at this stage again anyway. I for one feel much better on them ? just don?t like the runny black poo

JODIE ? fab nail colour.

CILC ? hope you are feeling better and foot is healing well. I would write a storng letter to the Manager for sure. Customer service is imperative ? they should be training their staff properly, possibly the waitress had no idea HOW to handle a situation like that (maybe she was a bit dim/inexperienced) but it should be brought to the managements? attention ? even to make sure it doesn?t happen to anyone else. I always write to complain about things ? I think we are too reserved in this country and put up with things when we shouldn?t. S[peaking as someone who had their own business for 9 years ? I would rather know about a complaint and have the chance to correct it than not know. My DH offered to video me to remind me of how shite I feel when pg ? in case we ever thought of having more!

POLY ? men just don?t think! When my bf had her DD years ago I took her in the buggy so that my bf could look At clothes try them on etc in peace. I couldn?t believe how rude people were - letting doors go in your face/barging in front etc. Made me really aware of people with prams so I try to be helpful when I can, also made me think about being in a wheelchair ? must be hellish. Quite apart form the fact that shop aisles are far too narrow to accommodate chairs. Hopefully your littly will be here soon and you will be all better.

TJUICE ? well done on the bf front. You sound really well and happy ? so nice to hear How is your HUSBAND coping Just used normal tops here and nursing bras for bf. Just wheaked them up!

HUBARB ? ta for recipe. My Mum is going to show me how to make one in the Autumn with our ancient ?cloot?. How is Mrs HUBARB doing? How long till baby is cooked now? Have you got the sparkly/glittery thing yet?

SWEETKITTY ? I thought about that ? I am going to sneak onto my neighbours trampoline I moved to Ardrossan at 15, left for Glasgow at 18, moved back at 22 so started going to Gardners, Hipflask, Sullivans and the Attic at 22/23. I used to be up the back of the Hipflask (near the toilets) in a group of about 6-8 people wearing shiny patent tights PVC trousers, leather or PVC tops and sometimes leather thigh high boots! Those were the days - do it when your young I say, too old and lardy now Have kept my black trousers and thigh highs as a memento though Hope your not feeling too bad today. (hugs)

MINKUS ? no show with my DD either so can?t help ? sorry.

LIBRALADY ? I like Louisa but Megan is really common now (here anyway) but if you like it that?s the main thing. The 2 work well together.

MINIPINK ? lovely name. You don?t hear Susan much these days.

BUTTERFLY ? are you 6? at your size 12 and looking so gorgeous - not fair!

MINNIE1 ? scary stuff. Do they think it might be epilepsy? Maybe he had a virus or something but hope you find out soon that all is well and nothing to worry about. (hugs)

LIBRA ? Dad was BP and I went to the International school. We went to Sullom Voe (Shetland Isles) after. He went on to become Head Of Dept at Das Island ? if that means anything to your Dad? No nappy bin here either ? I use a bin for reusables ? with tea tree oil in it, and put disposables into outside bin straight away.

HEFFA ? I get loads of nosebleeds in pg. In fact the day after I had DD I had a HUGE gelatinous bloody clot come out of my right nostril, then the left one did the same the next day ? bleurgh!!

PIGLEY ? Happy Anni ? glad you had a nice day. I got married in a castle too ? Tulloch castle in Dingwall , just outside Inverness.

CASS ? Wow now that is great customer service ? I would write to thank them!

KAZ ? glad all went well. How about your parents? Were they good to you and surprised you?

Who asked about geranium oil? I would suggest tea tree on a cotton bud applied or lavender ? only 2 that are really classified as ?safe? to use directly on the skin ? although I apply sandalwood to my throat when my glands are up. You need to make sure they are decent pure oils though ? not crappy synthetic ones.

Now that I have said hello to all (hopefully) my news is that I spent the afternoon in A&E with DD. She fell down 4 stairs and hit her head a corker off the stairgate ? HUGE bump appeared. Thankfully after 2 x-rays she has been given the all clear. Must admit I was a bit tearful in the hospital ? my poor wee baby. Just reconfirmed to me how much I hate hospitals (although I am eternally grateful to them) they are always so blooming HOT.

Have not slept the last 2 nights so am shattered! So hard to sleep now isn?t it?

Well must go and drink some water and try to unwind.

Take care all
xxx
TWINKLE ? where are you? Have you popped?

Kaz1967 · 16/06/2008 20:13

ROFL how could I forget and Dad they were absolutely fine. and mum only said she was worried once

disneystar · 16/06/2008 20:43

minnie big hugs for you
i hope you are ok i ve missed a few posts

i my early pregnancy my dh had a heart attack i had to revive him its was so traumatic and without the support on here i think i would have gone nuts!!!!

saw consultant today and its been decided im having my induction in 20 days i think im going to use days as i really really need to get myself used to the idea i am terrified and thats not a good place to be

i can still have the c-section but this LO weighs 5.5 now so hes going to be an easy one for me even though hes got a few medical problems,
i voiced strongly my concerns i had my doula with me to
1 VE at the beginning
monitoring at the beginning
hes agreed to give me an epidural before he breaks my waters
just incase my LO gets stuck like before with his fused skull problem

i dont think i can do this i feel sick at the thought
i am so so willing him to come on his own accord
positive note he is totally head down back to the left great position
getting my birthing ball tomorrow lots of sex now dont care how uncomfortable it is i want him out naturally
i dont have to have any intervention but cos of my diabetes and his fused head and heart probs early induction is my best course
40 wks baby i wont be able to birth on my own
can i do this
NO!!!!!!!!
need positive thoughts how can i prepare myself mentally, induction was my worst nightmare

sweetkitty · 16/06/2008 20:49

kaz - sounds like you had a good hospital visit well as good as these things go

CliC - think these threads must hang around a while, one night when I was bored I found my first ever MN post (Jan 2004 just after being to the hospital with huge bleed when 9 weeks pregnant with DD1 thought we had lost her), birth announcement for DD1, loads of posts when I was overdue and insane with DD2 and DD2's birth announcement. Hasn't stopped me having another but this is the LAST!

Rumpel - We drank in the same pubs at the same time, if you moved back (why?) at 22 I would have been about 18-19 which was my hey day in terms of going out every weekend. I also spent a far bit of time up the back of the Hip Flask (if you could call it a back since it's the size of a living room) I was never out the place at one point, every Weds (quiz night) Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun those were the days. Can't believe you went to International School and lived in some exotic places to end up in Ardrossan.

Your poor DD, I remember I left the stairgate open once and DD2 fell down the stairs and crashed into the bottom stairgate, I felt so sick she had a little cry and was fine. DD1's had loads of bumps and scrapes as well but you always feel worse than they do.

Right am supposed to be going to be early tonight DD2 was up at 6.30am this morning with a wet nappy I am feeling constantly shattered now.

sweetkitty · 16/06/2008 20:53

disney - x-posted, I think you need to decide what YOU want, if you really don't want an induction then ask for the c-section. I don't think induction would be that bad as they have said he is small and as you have had loads of babies before it won't take you long, you have to think recovery afterwards as well c-section no picnic with other LOs to look after. I don't know what to say really, except you KNOW you can do it, you've done it before and you will do it again.

Think 20 days from now your little boy will be in your arms it will all be over.

Josephnia · 16/06/2008 21:22

Talking of breech babies - mine was laying crosswise d-day - 3 weeks, and apparently I had too much fluid, so they admitted me to the maternity ward to expect a c-section - too risky to be at home in case baby came down on top of cord. I had a joyous - not -fortnight in the ante-natal ward...lots of other mothers to be in labour in the middle of the night do not lead to restful sleep. And the buggers all had beautiful babies by morning when we went for our cold toast, and I still looked like someone had stuffed a sofa up my nightie! The morning of the c-section finally arrived and I was consoling a nervous dh after a night of no sleep - and guess what - dd finally had gone head down! Go home they said - a natural birth for you after all! Bollocks I said I'm not moving til you've got it out! Anyway - I was persuaded, went home, had a chinese and a glass of wine and sat for 2 weeks in discomfort. After several sweeps - it's amazing that when you are pregnant you will let midwives do things to you that under other circumstances would probably constitute porn! Anyway - upshot - induced - 20 hour labour = emergency c-section unfer GA. Moral of the story - don't let them muck you about. If you've got a breech - maybe insist on the section. If you're induced, definitely insist on an epidural ....

I ate a pineapple at 5.30pm.
My waters broke at 6pm.

Now I am waiting for some contractions.

I just thought you'd like to know!

Good luck Isaidno ! Very exciting

I've just been to my first antenatal class. It was an OK class but I feel terrible now because it was at the MW-led unit and everyone else in the group is having their baby there. MW announced to the whole group that I was going to the main hospital in Exeter (hardly out of choice...) and most of the class was based around the procedures at the unit. Every now and then she'd add something about the main hospital like how they don't provide food, and that DH will be kicked out after the baby is born (the MW unit allows the men to stay). She was also saying that it's a really long drive which will be horribly painful when I'm in labour so I might have to go in earlier than I'm wanted. I feel really gutted now because I don't want to go there anyway and feel really sensitive about it without having attention drawn to that in a room full of strangers and then being told how awful it's going to be compared to the place I could be. I know it's probably the best choice for me anyway but it still really upsets me. The same MW has told me in the past that I may well need a C-section (no explanation as to why) and that I can't use a water pool because I'll need to be continuously monitored on the bed.

Sorry, long rant but I wanted to get it off my chest.

pigleychez · 16/06/2008 21:48

Just had a lovely meal out with DH for our anniversary.

Oh my god isaidno! How weird to be waiting... like being in limbo!

How exciting!

sweetkitty · 16/06/2008 21:54

See I go take a phonecall and I miss everything.

isaidno - hope the contractions follow soon, not that I am wishing you to be in pain I'm so think I may have to eat a pineapple now, not that it worker before. Maybe you will have a baby by morning

Good luck Isaidno!!

cass66 · 16/06/2008 21:58

well, heffa, if the midwives at the M/W led unit are so damn insensitive, maybe you are better off elsewhere??!!

if you are going back for more, have a quiet word with the insensitive cow before the class, perhaps. not every woman is lucky enough to have nice normal M/W led deliveries, and there are those that need medical help or more monitoring/intervention. this is why the maternal mortality rate is so low in this country.

I have been going to yoga, which while being nice, has been hard for me, as it has been assuming everyone is aiming for a normal non interventional delivery, at home if poss or M/W unit. hard for me, as I have a planned section booked due to past emergency sections.

..but without medical intervention, I might have died. so try to stay positive. Cass

sweetkitty · 16/06/2008 22:02

Sorry to hear about your evening heffa how insensitive of them as cass says. I think we get a bit hung up on birth it's such a little part of it. At the end of the day when they are all 5 and starting school you don't have a sign on each baby saying "c-section" "homebirth" "epidural" etc as long as they get out and are fine and you are fine thats all that matters.
