This LO will definitely be Bethany middle name TBC I really like Grace I know it's common but I think it flows really well DP not so sure but hasn't come up with alternative so far.

OP posts:
Libra1975 · 13/06/2008 13:40

I love Grace as well but with parents like me and DH the chance of the LO actually having any isn't high.

JODIEhavingababy · 13/06/2008 13:41

Bethany Grace is lovely, and if I remember rightly it matches your other girls names perfectly. I had loads of girs names lined up, (Emily being fave) but no boys. Maybe it's the pressure now I know it's a boy? Well we'll find out in 3(ish)weeks

Completely agree sleepycat. Boys names either a bit boring, or a bit ridiculous. Are not happy with any of our potential choices really. Maybe you lovely ladies (and hubarb!) could help. (wouldn't dare try this on baby names thread!)
Edward, Joe, Yann, Fabian...
What are your thoughts?

EEC · 13/06/2008 13:52

Oh yes, and Ivan..

I Love EDWARD, I wanted that name, but our surname is Ward so it would sound funny!!!!!

mummypig · 13/06/2008 14:19

hi everyone

Well I am fed up with being pregnant, not sleeping very much, being grumpy with both boys even though they are actually behaving fairly well, getting worse pains in my pelvis and thighs but baby is nowhere near engaged so I'll probably last the next 3 weeks...

And I don't feel like I have much energy so although I have all my birth and hospital stuff in one place it's not very well organised. I keep thinking I should sort it out properly but I just can't be bothered.

On the plus side I met my 'standby' midwife earlier on in the week and she is lovely, so I am not worrying so much about going into labour during Glastonbury weekend when my other midwives are partying.

Kaz - glad you have your work finished and that your mum is okay about the bridging loan, hope all the rest of the house stuff works out okay in the end.

Hello to Aggie, DonutMum and Polyxene

Minkus and minipink - it must be so frustrating to go through that and then be sent home. My sister had false/early labour with her first one and was 3 cm dilated but then sent back home, this was all about 3 weeks before she really went into labour so you might still be waiting for a while. However her 'real' labour was pretty quick so fingers crossed for you both.

Disney - you and your kids have so much to deal with. I hope you have a great holiday in August.

CilC - lol at your blusher, your dp should have taken a photo

Catec - i agree about reaching your toes. I find it difficult enough to put on shoes at the moment, and I keep looking at my chipped nail varnish and thinking I should remove it but, like everything else, it seems like too much trouble.

Jodie I have a breadmaker too and it's great. I love experimenting with different recipes. Also all the financial pages in the papers seem to be recommending them as a way of dealing with rising food prices!

EEC and sleepycat - I also think boys names are much harder to choose - especially when both partners have to agree! I like Yann and Fabian from that list but, knowing my dp, they would be the ones he would cross off. I am waiting for him to come up with his own list as he's been negative about most of my choices, or lukewarm at best. It's kind of harder 'cos we already have two boys. Both have names which are not too way out but not too popular either. We'd like to do the same for the next one otherwise he might feel it's unfair that his brothers had more unique names - or they might feel it's unfair that he had a more normal one! Anyway it restricts our choices even more.

catec · 13/06/2008 14:25

I totally struggle with boy's names as I think you have to be a bit more "normal" (girls can pull off slightly wackier names I think).
Jodie - I really like Jamie. And I like Milo as a variation on Miles.

mummypig · 13/06/2008 14:29

yes probably sleepycat...

dp came in yesterday evening to find me shouting at ds2 when he wouldn't take his medicine - and my neighbour even heard me too so I really should try to calm down

He was a little darling today in the surgery though. We had to wait over half an hour for a pre-booked appointment and he just sat with me and listened to about four stories. So I let him have a cake on the way home

Polyxene · 13/06/2008 15:01

I agree with sleepycat and others - boys' names are NOT easier! We could agree on a girl's name very easily, but are absolutely stuck for a boy, which is of course what we're having! One of the reasons we wanted to find out the sex was so that we would have plenty of time to think nof a name, but here we are with under three weeks to do and no idea... I quite like Miles/Milo at the moment, but who knows!

I think part of the problem is we feel we 'used up' all our favourites for our first son. His first name is Edward, so I'm glad to hear people like that We call him Teddy for short.

sweetkitty · 13/06/2008 15:04

Having all girls means I have loads of boys names I like, my virtual DS would have been Elliot, DP liked Logan

I agree I tend to like traditional, solid boys names that work well with little boys and grown men IYSWIM.

I like
Matthew
Thomas
Samuel
Nathan
Adam
Joseph
Jacon
Noah
Ewan
Lewis
Cameron

oh theres loads

ty about your lovely comments about Bethany the other two DDs have Hebrew names as well, DD1's is quite common, DD2's very uncommon, when we set out to find a name it had to "go" with our surname (v hard), not be the same initial or sound like the other 2, preferably 3 syllables as surname only has one oh and hardest of all we both had to like it. I think we have ticked all the boxes and we both love it.

mummypig - I seem to have lost my patience gene as well with the DDs, we have spent the afternoon making Daddy some Fathers Day cards (attention span 5 mins before they decided cutting up the Argos book was more fun) they are now watching Peppa Pig eating a biscuit (bad Mummy alert).

Jodie - Edward Ward is a bit I know how you feel though I loved Millie when pregnant with DD2 but that would have meant her name sounded very like Millipede

Can't wait for all these little babes to be born and named now.

Poledra · 13/06/2008 15:11

Hi All and welcome to the newbies! Have calmed down a little over the dishwasher - dh is going to look at it over the weekend, as he has repaired the last two faults it had. However, I think it's more serious this time as before it was mechanical things (rubber seal and door hinge) but this time it blew the fuse on the ring main when it packed in! So, it might be time for a new one.

Been back for another doppler scan for the anti-E/anaemia thing and they're estimating the baby's weight at 6lb 1oz!! I've still got over 4 weeks to go so God knows how big she'll be at term. Anyway, it's all good - the doppler flow had increased from last time but is still in the normal range and the baby is very active which the consultant reckons is still the best sign that she's fine. One more scan at 38 weeks to go!

Libra1975 · 13/06/2008 15:19

our boys name is set in stone, said it before Alexander Philip **. There are so many boys names I love, like SK I like traditional/solid boys names like Matthew and Edward. Think Joseph is nice as well.

The girls name is causing us no ends of problems (well I say we, I mean me, DH does not seem to take it quite as seriously as me), so far we have gone thru Laura and Hannah and are now at Lara.

mummypig - glad you are happy with standy midwife, I think if you are having a HB you need to be confident in the abilities of your MW.

Libra1975 · 13/06/2008 15:21

x-post with Poledra as stuffing my face with popcorn but glad scan went ok I thought it was 1/2 pound a week so 8 pounds is a good size!

Mummywannabe · 13/06/2008 15:41

HI all.

Minkus and Minipink - blimey, these babies do seem keen don't they!

Clic - LOL at blusher, bless ya!

Just had hair done, feel almost human again!

Had complete emotional breakdown last night. Had been grumpy all day. asked DH if he would make me a cup of tea and he said give me a minute will you i'm tired too. Cue me bursting into tears and saying yes but your not 8 months pregnant are you . Then i cried for about an hour telling him i wanna be me again, i'm tired, fat blah blah blah. Have no idea why

Welcome to newbies.

Minkus · 13/06/2008 15:59

Jodie ooh is it this weekend you DH is taking you away for the night? Lucky you

Storyteller- great atmosphere, traditional and world food too (thinking Australian/S African for some reason. About £30 a head for 3 courses without drinks.
Vanilla- smart chichi cosmopolitan place with nice menu, restaurant of the lots of white linen and sparkling tableware type so it looks fantastic. Never had terrible food there but service has been a bit pants occasionally. Def a place to go if you want to pretend to be childless gain for the evening, loads of young folk . Probably about the same price again as the other.
Thai Emerald - amazing surroundings, lots of Thai sculptures and authentic tableware etc. Brilliant Thai food, much posher than your average curry house although cost doesn't really reflect this cos it still good value (prob about £20 a head).
The Daffodil- this is in an old cinema and has recently been refurbed so is a lovely place to eat. Food has always been really good here, nothing extravagant or flashy but always nice menus and not sure if they still do it but a pudding option that is a little bit of all the puds on a plate to share- great for folks like me who just can't make up their minds £30 a head ish, maybe a bit less.

Daffodil would be my choice, it's a beautiful place to be too. Have a lovely evening wherever you end up going!

Can't remember where you live (Dorset?)- remind me and I will see if I can come up with anything in that direction for Sunday lunch. Sounds like you are going to have a great weekend!

Loving the names posted. Ivan is brilliant EEC, such a individual but classic name- really like it.

And SK I love Bethany, one of those names you can do lots with too.

We've narrowed down our choices to 3 of each;
Hugh/Jake/Louis (middle name Robert, dh's family tradition) or Greta/Lily/Pippa (middle name Roberta- no one's done the Robert thing for girls before). I think Lily and Hugh are the front runners but still not 100%. Violet is my current fave but dh hates it.

Right, off to hang out wash load no 4 and finish the dusting upstairs

pigleychez · 13/06/2008 16:25

Hi all,

Busy day visiting Ikea today. Wardrobes now complete with fittings and clothes. Ive been really ruthless though and thrown out 2 bin bags full of clothes!!!
DH always says i have too many clothes.

Glad to have the nursery back to normal again ready for this LO's arrival .... Well almost.... when i can be bothered to finish.

Re Names- Our choosen boys name is Matthew. I personally have always loved the name and it just so happens to be DH's Middle name so perfect!
Agree with liking more tradition names and also think Matt is a nice name for an older guy.

CilC · 13/06/2008 17:05

Are you sure Catec - as neither my husband or I have british passport but DD does. I was only on an Ancestral visa when I had her. Apparently if you were on a valid visa to be in UK when LO born here then they can (unless it has changed in the last year). Certainly worth it for her is she is going to be a traveller when older.

Libra how are boy names easier? I can't really think of ny I love but there are loads of girl name I like.

We are down to 2 but it is like negotiating world peace with DH.

DonutMum · 13/06/2008 17:14

Hi All, having a rotten day. Mum was a bit of a bitch to me today unfortunately and I've been crying most of it (long and boring story but how is it that they're so good at making you feel bad about yourself?). Anyway, I'm sure she'll make it out to be my fault somehow!

Everything else tickety boo - keep getting my deliveries from my frantic internet shopping which is exciting and had new floor laid in the bathroom ready for the homebirth.

Just need Logan to turn up now - only four weeks today.

isaidno · 13/06/2008 17:30

I now have a pair of episiotomy scissors in my nouse! Yes, the home birth pack is here!

pigleychez · 13/06/2008 18:09

NO ONE is coming near my bits with scissors!

sweetkitty · 13/06/2008 18:10

pigley - you will be begging them to come at your bits with a rusty old axe come the right time
