Chocsolot - thanks for the info on baby show - i will check it out an get my tickets booked.

MrsMagpie - ha ha you made me laugh regarding your grandmother! I have to deal with my husband telling me that his own mother was still out partying and drinking until midnight the day before he was born - what a load of bull then he went on t o tell me that there are a lot of women who go on to 9 months and do not even know they are pregnant and then out pops the baby - I have not been that angry in a long time! MrsMagpie I praise you for your sense of humour!

Good to hear the updates with everyone else's scans.

Today I think I am going to buy some tops from Isabella Oliver???

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2008 09:35

FLF Fab news on the scan!

Loosey yours sounds great too!

LS how are the jeans? I am getting some new ones soon and quite like the Seraphine ones too.

Am so tired, have had a million appointments with dd recently (she has Turners syndrome)and am totally washed out. It doesnt help that at the end of term they all have sports days\discos\plays to attend aswell. I feel so ready for the summer holidays.

I look HUGE, tis funny, when dh gets back from Sea in 5 weeks he is going to lol alot May post a pic, no laughing if i do.

Have the twins sports day today so am off to that in a mo, oh will it ever end...

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2008 09:36

Periwink check out Seraphine too They are luvverly

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2008 09:37

Oh and and at all the nasy helpful comments form mil's and grandmothers

Chocsolot · 10/07/2008 10:10

Morning all,

Mags your MIL story did make me chuckle.... I dare my MIL to even go there, given when my DH was a toddler he used to have to go and sit on her head with a wet nappy before she would get her arse out of bed and change him, i just dare her.... i can see the comments will no doubt come at some point though and when they do my god there will be blood on the walls!!

I have found another really comfy, incredibly unflattering addition to my pregnant wardrobe... now don't laugh.... granny pants! my God Daughters mother said that when you start getting your bumps the type of pants you wear can be very uncomfortable and she highly recommended M&S very high granny pants! Now I was obviously (as a youngish, like to think not too untrendy mum to be!) horrified at this suggestion, but I got some yesterday and tried them out and i have to say they are so so comfortable, I was truely amazed. Obvioulsy they do nothing for the appeal to my DH and just had him in fits of laughter this morning, but right now I think you have to laugh at these things and be comfy! ..... just wanted to share incase there are any others out there uncomfy in their thongs and slips!

Periwink · 10/07/2008 10:30

Largeginand tonic - will look at Seraphine too - thanks

LittleSquirt · 10/07/2008 11:29

LGT - my Isabella Oliver IO Jeans are great! I really love them actually. The problem is that I kidded myself that my legs were so long that I needed a 33" leg but I don't, a "regular" 31" is what I need so I am returning them to get those instead. But otherwise they are great and I do recommend them. They are not cheap but in the sale at the moment (£99 instead of the usual £110).

Hello to everyone else too. Great news on your scan Loosey!

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2008 11:35

Granny pants!!!! I avoid at all costs, they itch my belly button

LS i am a measley 5'4 if i stand on tip toes, what length do you think i will need? Have no tape measure here.

Have done sports day, baby refused to sleep so instead screamed for the hour i was there, Hugs ran off ALOT and i shouted even more. Hugged the twins and told them i was off early, dt1 looked at me with dismay and said "but the mummies race", at which point i looked down at my bump and said not sure i could have managed it this year anyway! Bless them, tis quite cold and threatening rain. They are out there all day!!

LittleSquirt · 10/07/2008 13:19

Well done on attending the Sports Day at all LGT!!! Weather is much nicer where I am (Reading) today but yesterday it literally rained ALL day!!!! In nearly mid-July! It's just awful.

Anyway, re. the jeans, I think the "regular" ones are the shortest ones you can get - the inner leg is 31 inches. I think that should be ok for you. If it's a bit long, it might be ok with little heels (personally I am not sure how much longer I'll want to wear heels though).

As they are quite expensive, I would say try to find a way to measure the inner leg of your current jeans. If they are much smaller than 31" then maybe these jeans aren't for you

missjackson · 10/07/2008 14:04

I just ordered a top from IO they have a sale on at the moment. And I bagged myself an amazing pair of seven for all mankind maternity jeans for £33 on ebay usually they are about £140, and these look like they've hardly been worn!

I also bought the cutest babygro from makes a change so thank you for that link; it's got a little pony on the front (my dp breeds horses!) so it's just perfect.

Just thought I would share my recent purchases with you! I really must stop buying stuff now though.

Feeling soooo ridiculously tired -- I thought it was supposed to get easier around about now?! I'm only 12+4 so I suppose I'll have to be patient.

rrrayray · 10/07/2008 14:57

Hello people.

congrats on all those who have had their lovely Scans.

I'm STILL waiting to hear from a midwife/ get a scan appt. My Doc assures me i am in the system and will hear shortly.... itching for it though!

Chocs- never even heard of baby show, but happily just booked tickets. just what us first timers need!

Touch wood, starting to feel EVER so slightly better, only sick once yesterday, although the pregnancy SPOTS are out in full force

rrrayray · 10/07/2008 15:00

oh and miss jackson, i'm 12+2 and also STUPIDLY Tired, one of my friends has just hit 14 weeks and it seems to have magically lifted, so i'm waiting for that magic feeling

Chocsolot · 10/07/2008 15:14

rrrayray oh glad you are going, my colleague at work is a 2nd timer and she went just before her first was born apparently you can get great bargains, they got their travel system there and got the car seat and parasol and footwarmer thrown in for free and all that kind of stuff. All the big brands have a stall there so we reckon it gives us a good opportunity to play with a load of different things and see if we can get discounts on the ones we like! What can i say.... i married a scouser!

Chocsolot · 10/07/2008 15:16

I suddenly feel less tired and i am 12+4.... I managed to stay up until 10pm yesterday... rock'n'roll!!!!

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2008 17:46

I have a whinging baby pulling my leg, dd at Brownies, twins waitng to go to their disco and an amwol Spanish student, oh and the 3 year old is covered in chocolate mousse. I so wish i could have a G&T

I will borrow a tape measure and do my inside leg, cant remember what length i have bought before. The Seraphine ones come in 'short' so may have to get them instead. Hmmmmmnnnn.

I have bursts of energy then seem to crash again. I also have SPOTS!!! I never get spots, they are the proper red bumps under the skin type, maybe it is a pink one after all!

Periwink · 10/07/2008 18:24

I am happy to see I am not alone in my splurges today - I bought a top from Seraphine and two tops and a dress from
Isabella Oliver, feeling a little guilty ... I am sure the feeling will pass very soon! I will resist buying baby stuff now because it will just be a downward spiral from there onwards and not sure if i start that i will be able to stop.

Also going to baby show!

I have my energy back in full force (14 weeks 5 days) - is anyone having shortness of breath?

Went to Pregnancy yoga class today - found it very boring - a little bit too slow, however the yoga teacher had some amazing tips and advise - so I might just go to the class every now and then.

rrrayray · 10/07/2008 19:00

Periwink - yes finding myself getting a little more out of breath when just walking up a steep hill or something~!

Also, i think i may have jinxed myself, i have since been sick after thinking sickness easing off. Boo Boo!

moosemama · 10/07/2008 19:51

Hi all, lovely to hear more great scan news and look at all the lovely pictures.

periwink I'm 14+5 as well and mentioned breathlessness to the MW at the hospital - she looked flummoxed and called the registrar to listen to my chest - despite me explaining repeatedly that I wasn't breathless at that moment, just sometimes!

Registrar came - said I looked really healthly (bright red cheeks due to overly hot waiting room!) checked chest and said all seemed fine, but thought I should take it easier!

I then went home and looked it up in my 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' book and found out its perfectly normal and due to relaxation of the smooth muscle.

Had also heard of mild anaemia causing breathlessness and restless legs (got that too!) so started taking Floradix and have noticed an improvement in just 4 days. Think I was probably quite depleted after all those weeks not eating.

Haven't gone into maternity wear yet, still in my normal jeans, although needing a larger size top to accommodate my now gargantuan chest! Am very surprised, as was sure with baby number 3 I was bound to pop early. I think its probably down to the weight I lost in the first trimester, I'll probably develop a huge bump the day we go camping!

LenniEd · 10/07/2008 20:16

Think I might go to the Manchester Baby show then - despite not needing anything, I can probably convince DH that shopping with discounts is a good idea!

I have managed to wear my jeans all day today - but have got the maternity box out and just put it all in the wash. Hopefully there will be a few bits I like in there - seem to remember hating my maternity wardrobe last time. The same few things over and over again for about a year got so boring. I don't get on with many maternity places either - boobs too big for all this crossover neckline malarky and all my pregnant weight gain seems to go on my arse so no hope of getting into any skinny jeans once I get to about 5 months. So remind me, why is this a good idea again??

Ooo, and a little rant. PIL tried to convince me all evening last night to have a pint of bloody Guinness. I loathe Guinness. And why exactly is it any of their business what I eat/drink?

OK, feel much better now.

Periwink · 10/07/2008 20:36

rrrayray and moosemama - happy to hear I am not alone on the breathlessness, yep walking up stairs and hills is a stuggle and I get to the top gasping for breath, I ahev read this is quite normal.

Moosemama - we have the same due date (I will add myself to list). Still fitting into my normal jeans but busoms are like melons, hence the need for a few new tops. I was recommended Floradix - I might just go and buy a bottle tomorrow, I was drinking it prior to conception and then stopped when I fell pregnant.

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2008 22:19

Floradix fabulous, you should all be taking it anyway. Stocks up irn stores without making you feel constipated and is a real tonic.

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2008 22:20

iron obviously

elkiedee · 11/07/2008 00:06

I just don't like a lot of maternity clothes at all - I don't like stretch and cling fabrics, prefer clothes that avoid being either tight or baggy and shapeless. I can't remember if the things I did buy last time are here or at my mum's, but hopefully I'll find out soon.

As this is dc2, I don't plan to buy that much this time - we have to decide which way to go re buggy/ies, and a new changing bag and feeding cushion would be useful. DS was given so many clothes in his first few months that some lovely ones were never even worn - and most would work for a girl or boy - and actually I'd sooner put a girl in a nice blue babygro than in some of the girls' clothes that are sold.

Morning all. About to go out into the world not sucking my tummy in for the first time in weeks! Now have had scan don't mind who knows, feels good!

Have now told PIL and work - I am finding it just as weird telling people second time round. Luckily work have confirmed they will let me back-to-back my maternity leave as I was due to go back early Dec - hooray!

Gosh, everyone has very posh maternity clothes. Mind you having rifled through my bag of unflattering sacks I think I might treat myself to some new stuff too... LenniEd - lets go shopping! missjackson you may inspire me to go on ebay
