Fingers crossed for you flf - here's an old thread on this

try not to worry flf brown is better than red as its old blood. i had a red bleed a few days before my scan and i worried myself silly it was a missed mc. i even explained to OH what would happen if it was and what i wanted to do.
just try to relax, i read on the internet that 25% of pregnant women bleed at some point but go on to have healthy babies.

fourlittlefeet · 04/07/2008 22:08

thanks elkie and mel. just been reading the 'BD' thread. honestly, the indignity of what we go through. am feeling a bit calmer, but whilst not emergency, still feeling a bit unsettled as some mentioned the pain coming along after.

I did around 50 Kegels this morning, am wondering whether that could have done something.

Hi everyone, Ive been away for a few days so sorry for not replying to everyones' posts. Very excited to see all the scan news coming through!

I went for my NHS scan yesterday. I have to say it was a bit disappointing. The lady who did it was brusque and a bit rude ("tch, Im so busy today, I have a headache blah blah blah - BOTHERED!!! ). I was a bit cross - she didnt know Id been for a private scan so she was effectively whinging on through one of the most important experiences of my life so far!!

If I was going to give any advice to a newly pregnant friend, it would definitely be to go to a private scanner. The quality is better, you dont have to hold your bladder for an hour, you can get a 3D one, you can hear the heartbeat from 6 weeks (not just see it) and the people are NICE. Also, my private scan guy seems to be doing more tests as well - Im not quite sure how.

Have a nice rainy saturday everyone xxx

BLOOMING MARVELLOUS have a 70% sale on, just bought some royce breastfeeding bras for £7.99 each, they have black and white. i have had them before for my last two pregnancies and did wear them through pregnancy and breastfeeding. they are nice and soft and perfect maternity bras, they wash well and have lasted. also if you put in PPR2 you get an extra 15% off. they also have quite alot of maternity clothes in the sale and baby clothes.

one interesting thing from my midwife appt - she offered me a home birth - said I was an ideal candidate - thought the normal tack was to dissuade you!

Feel like taking it up as it would mean the same midwife with me continuously not popping in and out like at hospital!

Mind you I did manage with just G&A and tens last time so no real need to be in hospital...

JamInMyWellies · 05/07/2008 13:24

FLF just popping in to see how you are doing, try not to panic and lots of luck for Wednesday when you can be outed.

elkiedee · 05/07/2008 15:16

Also popping in to see if flf has any news

Just went to Mothercare to get swim nappies for DS as I'm pretty sure he'll have outgrown the ones he was wearing when I last took him. Also managed to find coordinated maternity bras and knickers (they don't seem to be good at having both bits at the same time).

fourlittlefeet · 05/07/2008 19:31

thanks guys. have had a few pains and a bit more stuff today (though very little). Am very scared, but trying to stay positive; people have been through far worse and had their babies safe and well. Just not nice to go through at this late stage as I'd really been looking forward to this weekend and hitting the 12 wks .

buickmackane · 05/07/2008 19:32

Thanks, mel2005, I've just ordered myself some new clothes and the code worked.

Spink · 05/07/2008 20:04

flf - just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and little one - like you say, lots of people have the experience you're having & it all turns out fine, but I know that waiting to find out what is going on is horrible horrible horrible, so I'm sending a big hug x

MsSparkle · 05/07/2008 20:31

Aniyan i'm so sorry to hear your news

mrsmontano i'm glad to hear everythings ok after the bleed

fourlittlefeet i'm sure everything is ok, i can't imagine the worry though. It feels like forever waiting.

I was sick this morning Just as i thought the sickness was easing it bites me in the bum

Not long now until my second MW appointment.

LooseyC · 05/07/2008 22:01

Hi there

Aniyan, not sure if you're still reading this but for you, please take care and good luck for the future.

flf - I had the same thing as you at 8w, rang midwife in a panic who told me not to worry, very usual - but won't totally believe it until the scan I think - roll on Weds! Have nothing in diary until then this week as am feeling useless, but should have booked some stuff to take my mind off it really, oh well!

mrsmontano very glad all ok with you, what a relief

rrrayray · 05/07/2008 22:07

Hi people.

I'm 11 weeks, almost 12.

Been having a few, well dont know how to quite describe it. Not pain pains, more like Twinges down there. No Blood or Brown Discharge, but i'm sure you all understand the mind wonders as i see from others posts.

I was wondering if anyone who is on their Second pregnancy, or has just read alot more than me thinks its perhaps "stretching pains" or something?

Trying to be positive & not worry!

rrrayray · 05/07/2008 22:08

Dont think i've explained that too well, they are pains, just i'm not Doubled over cramped up or anything.

scared1976 · 05/07/2008 22:17

hi rrrayray, I had something similar in the last couple of days. I am 13 weeks. I googled it and it suggested that as long as is not accompanied by bleeding, and that the cramps are not unbearable, that it is likely very normal. as you can tell from my nickname - im also a worrier so TOTALLY understand x

scared1976 · 05/07/2008 22:19

here is what i found on line.... hope it helps

By pregnancy week 13 your uterus is expanding even further. This sometimes causes some discomfort or mild cramping. Some women experience what is referred to as round ligament pain around pregnancy at 13 weeks. This pain while sometimes alarming is usually harmless. If you experience round ligament pain you may feel a short or brief sharp and stabbing pain along one side of your abdomen or the other. This usually happens when a woman is shifting positions quickly, say moving from her side to her back or getting up suddenly.

Most round ligament pain will disappear in a few minutes. If you notice pain that is accompanied by other symptoms including bleeding, omitting or cramping you should contact your health care provider immediately. This may be a sign that something more serious is occurring. Typically however round ligament pain is brief and easily relieved by simply relaxing or resting for a moment. It often serves as an important reminder for pregnant women to slow things down while pregnant.

LooseyC · 05/07/2008 22:29

Scared, think that says it all - we need to slow down but don't!

Mine get pretty severe and from very early on - and I convinced myself I was having an ectopic p last time round. All was fine though, felt like an idiot! I would descibe mine as like a pulled muscle or stich around the hip bone area, but usually just on the one side.

When is your next mw appointment? Or you could always see the GP instead if you they carry on/ get worse and you are worried. I go along to mine at any opportunity as if noting else it stops you worrying too much!

fymandbean · 05/07/2008 22:35

rrayray - it is round ligament pain - from gentle twinges to sharp twinges bit like being stabbed with a knitting needle???

largeginandtonic · 05/07/2008 22:35

So sorry Aniyan

FLF please dont worry i had just the same with Beau last time, do you remember? I had never bled before. I had a scan and all was well Calm thoughts.

PBH what fantastic news! You must be so excited, how lovely you and Mel have each other too

I had my nuchal fold scan today, all very good. Lovely sonographer who took loads of time and was chatting away to me. She also sexed the baby although cant be really sure as it is early. She thinks it is PINK!! I have 5 boys and only 1 girl who is desperate for a sister. I am saying nothing yet but time will tell...

rrrayray · 05/07/2008 22:43

scared1976 and fymandbean Thanks for your reassurance, its just confirmed what i sort of thought, but i wasn't sure if i was being TOO positive.

No Bleeding, or any extra discharge, just the pains. And yes, thats Spot on fymandbean some really are sharp, others just twinges! Reassuring to hear someone with the same though.

I think i'm going to go to my doctor next week, i'll double check while i'm there if he thinks anything to worry about. But i also want to check i'm getting into the midwife system, as we've just moved and i havent had a call from a midwife (Doc said they'd call me?!), so therefore havent yet seen a midwife or anything and i'm almost 12 weeks!

Shanster · 06/07/2008 02:44

Is anyone else just a little freaked out about weight gain? I have always been quite thin, but gained a little weight before I got pregnant. I am 13 weeks, and so far have gained about 3 pounds, but since my ms stopped I have been starving. And I am not craving steamed veggies, I am eating things like pizza etc. I fully expect to gain weight but right now I look like I have eaten too many pies, not like I have a baby bump. I think the weight is more on my bum and hips so far. My pregnancy jeans are starting to feel snug!!

Then I went out tonight and had a pizza with cured salmon, so now I am freaking out that I may have poisoned the baby. Pregnancy is a nightmare.

chefswife · 06/07/2008 06:12

hello everyone... been a while since i've been here. neighbours went away and i couldn't airport their internet.

congrats to all the new ladies... can't believe there are still newbies signing up.

weight gain!!! oh i'm freaked out. my belly swelled so fast in a couple of weeks (9th and 10th) that i thought i was going to be an enormous pregnant woman. but no more growth in the last week and a bit. the thing that burns my ass is that i just look like i'm gaining weight and not pregnant. i have noticed to that my hips seemed to have spread and my butt seems to be sticking out more WTF! it can't be the pilades.

i know there was some other things i wanted to say but i can't remember... no, nothing there. all i'm thinking about is the damn heavenly hash ice cream DH picked up for me yesterday. Ciao
