i have midwife @ 11:30am hope that i get to hear heartbeat

morning all - anyone else gone off milk? I'm the worlds biggest tea drinker and love my cereal in the morning but havent touched either for about 3 weeks. Tried some cereal this morning and now feel really

fmy, no bad thing to drink less tea because of the caffeine. I actually drank more milk than in years just before and after ds was born - I wasn't convinced by the suggestion from a community midwife but actually it helped when my throat felt nearly burnt away by acid.

sorry fym, am drinking more full fat milk than ever because of dc1! Elkie, I a big fan of my NCT group; all of us still meet regularly nearly a year and a half on, but some of the advice they gave us in the sessions I thought was a bit .

midwife went well felt tummy and said everything great couldnt pick up heartbeat unfortunatly.

I have the midwife next Wednesday. Cannot believe how quick it's gone! I looked back and my first midwife appointment was the 28th May When she made the second appointment for the 9th July, it felt like ages away and now it's just around the corner! Time is really flying by!

Hello all. I've just had my 12 week scan and all is well and I saw the little heartbeat! I was a bit worried at first because the baby was completely still, but the sonographer said that's fine, it was probably having a nap, and the heartbeat was fine. I remember with DS I didn't feel him move much either so maybe I have sleepy babies (they make up for it once they're born though!) I've updated the list because my due date has changed again!

My next scan appointment is 10th Sept, by which time I'll be 21+5 weeks. I can't remember from my last pregnancy - what do they check at the second scan? Surely if they found any problems by then it would be too late to do anything about it anyway?

Can't remember re "20 week" scan exactly what but I think they can pick up problems that aren't so easy to detect at 12 weeks. 21+5 does seem rather late from that point of view though (depending on what your reaction would be to bad news). I have a booklet at home which I can check and see if it has more info for you when I remember.

Just been reading a bit about 20 week scan on the web - its an anomaly scan and it can detect things like Down's and spina bifida. Although no idea what I'd do at 21 weeks if I found out there were any serious problems.

Hi Elkiedee-- no, lift still not working! I didn't mind climbing the stairs, but I did think how pissed off I would've been if I was heavily pregnant or had kids! The staff seemed lovely though, and we got 4 really great pictures.

Congrats to all those with a successful scan. I went to meet the midwife team and have my blood taken yesterday.... But have scan on monday and proper midwife home visit the following Sunday. We got one of those Angel Dopplers we were talking about on the thread the other day though (DH got too excited and wanted a new gadget to play with!). Its quite good, we can here a faint heart beat (think that is because I have a bit of added insulation round there now shall we say and its still very small) but it darts around all other the place, you'll have its heartbeat one minute then you loose it and find it over the other side of your belly - I tell you it doesn't stay still! DH is very pleased with his £30 investment though he has listened to our baby everynight before i go to sleep to check it has had an OK day .

Is anyone else feeling less queezy too....? I don't want to count my blessings too soon as guarenteed i will throw up tonight if i do, but I think the sickness is wearing off.

Haven't been around for a long time, some of you might remember I had a bleed around 7 weeks, and just felt like I needed to get off this thread till I was 100% sure all was well after the 12 week scan? Anyway have been for my scan this morning, and everything is absolutely fine They have moved my EDD a week forward, which is always nice to hear! I will update that very long list in a second, with my new EDD.

I have been trying to keep up with you all, but have majorly lost track along the way! But congrats to everyone who has joined since I buggered off, and also to those who have had successful scans And good lucks to all those waiting for scans

I was reading a booklet about the 20 week scan yesterday in the hospital whilst waitgin for my bllod to be taken. They do another check for Downs to give a more accurate prediction (I think at 12 weeks they can give a likehood but at 20 they have a 90% chance of confirmgin either way), they also check for Spina Biffida, missing bones or joints and any heart defects.

By the 20 week scan you can see if the heart has all 4 chambers, whereas at 12 weeks you can only check it is beating correctly. We have a big congenital heart disorder in our family and my little sister only has 2 full segments and is one of the oldest living people in the UK with that severity heart disorder apparently, we have had loads of infant mortailitys and late misscarages because of it for generations so they are going to do a special heart check for us around 18 weeks.

My brothers partner is 21 weeks gone and they have just had theres and they have 4 chambers and all the correct valves in the heart and lung chamber so they can get pretty detailed info at that point.

The latest you can do anything is 22 weeks apparently so 21+5 is cutting it a bit fine if you did need/want to take any action.
