Everything went fine with my scan. Am 11+6 so only one day off what I thought I was.

We had a Pliko Pramette when DD was tiny. It was great in pram mode but can be awkward to push and they aren't built fantastically as Mel said. M&P sell loads of them though and you see lots about - this doesn't help with the second hand value either as there are always loads on eBay. We found it too cumbersome once DD was in pushchair mode and changed to a Mountain Buggy Breeze which is smaller and lighter than the other MBs and fits easily in the boot of my Megane. It also fits in my sisters Corsa without taking the wheels off. Since it folds flat rather than like an umbrella we can stack shopping on top of it and fit a supermarket shop in the boot with it. With the M&P we couldn't do this and ended up with shopping all over the inside of the car which isn't at all safe with a small baby in a car seat. Only trouble with the breeze is it only lies back to 165 degrees so isn't completely flat so we prob won't use it for the new baby until they are bigger.

We made the mistake first time round of looking for a pushchair which would last us right through with DD. Reality is most people end up with something more lightweight once the baby no longer needs/wants to lie flat - which for us was at 3-4months but some babies will lie flat for longer. We also wanted a travel system but never used the car seat except in the car as babies shouldn't be in car seats for longer than 2 hours and we are 25mins from the nearest town and an hour from the nearest place with high street shops so unless we were only going to be very quick we had to get her out of the car seat into the pram anyway.

I have learnt from my mistakes that it's best to try out as many as you can and think about where you will use it before you buy. There are loads of good pushchair threads in Products and loads of reviews of them too, plus if you go into a big mothercare or nursery store then you can usually try out loads of different ones and see which one you like.

flf i have posted a pic on profile of my tummy go for it

LenniEd · 30/06/2008 17:05

Wow Tink! I'm quite of your lovely bump! Mine is all flab and no baby

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 30/06/2008 17:16

i think it is mostly bloatedness

Periwink · 30/06/2008 17:41

Tink - my belly is looking a little flabby! looking forward to growing a proper baby bump

stripeywoollenhat · 30/06/2008 17:56

hello everyone! i've been a bit sick and tired and so not feeling very chatty, but i had my nuchal fold scan today and it seems that all is well (so far as they can tell), so hurrah! the sickness is not a terrible disease, it's a baby!
titch was not inclined to co-operate so i kept having to cough and wriggle my hips to see if we could get him/her to move - think s/he might have been asleep. then s/he stuck her/his thumb in her/his mouth, which was just really cute... i am feeling completely amazed.

pic on profile.

LenniEd · 30/06/2008 18:56

Awwwwww! Its a lovely picture stripey - mine is nowhere near as close up. Although he did give us a wave for the camera which was nice

fourlittlefeet · 30/06/2008 21:14

evening

tink - thats a real bump you've got there! mine looks much more like flab but will do the pic as promised.

Lenni, glad your scan went well.

Stripey that is a lovely photo. Amazing how much detail you can see!

Is anyone else still feeling knackered? Can't work out whether its because I'm pregnant, breastfeeding, looking after a little one, or spending too much time on the sofa in the evenings when with the last pregnancy I was doing spinning at the gym! Hoping its the pregnancy and I'll miraculously start to bloom after 12 weeks... 5 days to go so we shall see. Not planning to stop breastfeeding completely until end of September so am stuffed if thats whats doing it!

morning
i feel alot less tired than i did in the earlier wks. thank godness a less nauseous too

happyathome · 01/07/2008 10:08

morning
glad everyone's ok.good luck with today's scans.Great news all scans have been normal.
Mine is next Thursday.Still seems ages off.
Tiredness still bad.Hard to force myself to make tea or bedtime routine(have cut that down greatly ).
Argggh hayfever driving me crazy.Sure doc said loratidine would be ok but can't bring myself to use anything just yet.Any of you on meds for it?.Also had bright yellowy greenish CM lately(sorry tmi).Been dry up to now.Any of you the same?
have a good day.
happy & snugs x
ps/ been starting to look at prams too-anyone heard anyting about the travel systems Graco Quattro Sport TSB,or Chicco Trioforme or Silver Cross 3d travel system?
really wanted a carrycot/car seat with car base(car bases much good?).Didn't have pram facing me last time.Agree with completely flat lying newborns too.

iwouldgoouttonight · 01/07/2008 13:10

My hayfever is quite bad too - I've just been to the doctors and got a nasal spray for it but like you don't want to use it yet! I'm going to save it for when I'm really stuffy and fed up!

I just had a letter saying I can't have a prescription exemption card because I am too young to pay for prescriptions anyway. Turns out they have my date of birth wrong and think I was born in 1993 (rather than 1973) so they think I am 14!

Hope thats not the same on my maternity notes - they'll probably think I'm really low risk for everything because I'm so young!! Although when they see me it will be quite obvious that I'm 34 and not 14!

mel2005 · 01/07/2008 13:57

hello all
i had my nuchal today and my risks went from 1:575 to 1:2000 so i am over the moon. they were dancing around and flipping like they had hiccups. they are the same size and doing well so i am really happy. he said the risks of me miscarrying one or both now are small. i now dont have to see the consultant and scan until 20 weeks and then every 4 weeks after that unless there are any complications. it will save me a fortune in parking fees.

he thinks i had more risks having my little girl at home than having twins naturally in the hospital so at the moment i am relieved that it might not be a c-section.

mel2005 · 01/07/2008 14:01

oh and i will try and sort out my profile so i can add some scan photos and a belly one (if its not to fabby) its not as nice as tinks and the bump starts under my boobs so its much higher.

Periwink · 01/07/2008 15:24

Great news Mel2005!

missjackson · 01/07/2008 15:37

Had my scan yesterday and as I thought, I'm only 11+1 oh, it was so lovely to see the little thing. It even turned it's back on us! Funny scan photos of course it just looks like any other foetus, but I can't stop looking at it and feeling gooey inside!

The nuchal measurement was 1.5mm which I think is okay, so that's another relief (I'm 34).

Couldn't believe the run-down state of the ante-natal unit (Whittington) -- the staff all seemed brilliant, but it was seriously decrepid!

Hope everyone else's scans go well! x

i sympathize iwould-horrible hayfever.Hope the nose spray does good. Can understand that you want to use it sparingly though.Think i will feel better about meds after 1st trimester, won't you?! LOL at the putting you down as 14.

so pleased for you missjackson(i'm 34 too!) that the scan went well and glad the twins are fine mel.

mel2005 · 01/07/2008 16:49

thats great missjackson i am 33 but will be almost 34 on my due date.
both of the nuchal measurements were 1.4mm.
i wish i had done it with my other two pregnancies because it gives you more piece of mind. when i had my blood tests last time i had to call the midwife and they just say 'its ok'. i like to have a good statistic to look at (how sad am i????)

oh ASDA have a book '40,001 baby names' for £4. i gave it to my OH as he keeps saying silly names. it will keep him busy for a few weeks. (even though i already have four names ready - heeeeheee)

anyway i had better get the dinner on.

elkiedee · 01/07/2008 17:23

MissJackson, hadn't realised there was anyone here at the same hospital as me. The antenatal clinic area seems very rundown compared to the revamped hospital doesn't it? Was the lift working today?

Congratulations on the scans MissJackson and Mel2005

We had a car seat base with DD - was a godsend. It was an ISOFIX one so there was no fiddling around with seat belts and when I saw the hassle friends went through I was glad we spent the extra on it.

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 01/07/2008 18:21

great news on your scans ye. i have midwife tom am 11 and a half wks, cant wait to hear heartbeat

oh and for those second timers thinking about VBACs its apparently safer than a planned c-section. Scares the shit out of me I must say, but am desperate for a natural birth this time as last time was such a nightmare, I'm wondering how I'm going to cope going back there for my scan. Last scan I had was the day before the section. eek.

stripy that picture is amazing, looks like it's come out of a pregnancy book or something

iwould - ! They'll be making you go back to school afterwards!

Thank goodness we have months to think about pushchairs... mind you it took me months to decide last time round, oh well!
