morning FLF

Off for my scan in a bit. Feeling very nervous.

elkiedee · 30/06/2008 09:59

Morning all

Well, I'm 10 weeks today again, made me feel quite nervous finding out I was 12 days less than I thought.

Hope your scan goes well Lenni

Spink · 30/06/2008 10:29

hope it goes well Lenni

Spink · 30/06/2008 10:30

and elkiedee - happy (2nd) 10 weeks! hope you're not feeling too frustrated at having to be there again..

fymandbean · 30/06/2008 10:33

hey there's a March thread now!!!

largeginandtonic · 30/06/2008 10:48

Teuch noooooooooo, stay Just pretend you are due in Jan.

Mel glad you are feeling well, my twins were desperate for twins this time and are very disappointed! I too am a buggy nut, have had many children though >

I really wanted the Jane powertwin but went in to a shop to look at it and the lady told me you cant fit the matrix or auto carrycot on it. Lots of mine have been tummy sleepers (i know you are not supposed to) and i need a lie flat carrycot, car seat that fits on the frame and it must go through my front door. I will need an inline one for this. The only one's i can find that do all this is are Zooper twin, icandy and a new Bebecar duo. The Icandy looks like it has the shorter chassis which i would prefer. What do you think?

I am 12 weeks tomorrow! It seems to be flying by, i knew it would. I want to slow it down! I look round in the morning and vast by the evening! I have my nuchal fold on Saturday.

How is everyone else?

largeginandtonic · 30/06/2008 10:51

Oh yeeees FLF just how pregnant are you now? Surely you can reveal

Elkidee good news about the scan date move, more time at the end to do your own thing is much better. I had this with Beau, i knew he was about 10 days out by my LMP as i ovulate so late in the cycle. I was hugely relieved when they moved my date by 10 days as all my babies like to hang in there till late. It gave me more time at the end to have him without fuss, of course he was 10 days late and i was induced anyway. Imagine being induced 10 days before that! Poor thing would have been hanging on by his finger nails!

Besides i will be here at the end of the month and need some company

mel2005 · 30/06/2008 11:59

morning all

lg&t i had the jane twintwo as well which does fit the matrix car seat but it is a monster and feels really heavy. luckily it was an impulse cheap buy from e-bay so i cleaned it all up boxed it up, stuck it on a bin on e-bay and it was sold and down the parcelforce depot same day.
i have been to look at the icandy pear and the seats look small. i have not heard a good review of it so i didnt buy one, even though i had an icandy apple and did like it as a single. i have not had a zopper or the bebecar but i have head alot of people recommend the zopper on other threads.

i am not sure about the mountain buggy double on the bus. i have been on one with the single but it was quiet. i dont tend to use the bus much as when i was pregnant with my second i stood at the bus stop for a couple of hours unable to get on a bus as the they were busy and if there was a buggy already on they wouldnt let another one on. i have found the first stop now where you need to get on, if you have a buggy but its a trek so i use the car.
the MB might be narrower than the maclaren but it is longer because of the wheels. my friends who use the bus alot use an umbrella one for the bus and have a different one for off-road.

good luck to those having scans today

Mel i looked at the twin two ages ago and was horrified at the gigantic size! It really is a beast. I have a friend who has just bought the zooper, her baby is due in 5 weeks. Will wait for her review i think, although when i saw it in the shop it wa very similar to the twin two size.

I want a double bugaboo Why have they not made one yet?

Periwink · 30/06/2008 12:05

Hi ladies - good luck with all the scans, I only drank a glass of water before my scans and they baby could be seen really clearly. Thirteen weeks and two days today - i guess it is going to fly by now, getting to this stage has taken ages ....but feeling really energised and finally feeling a little of that pregnancy bloom - the sunshine helps too!

The pram thing is a whole new world to me - I better start doing some research soon, I looked at a few at Mamas and Papas and they weight a ton!

Scared - I am also in London not too far from your hospital and my level of care so far has not been great and certainly not reassuring for a first time mom to be - but I am going to persevere and give the hospital the benefit of the doubt, my husband is coming with me to my midwife appointment in two weeks time and we will make a decision then about which way to go for the rest of my pregnancy. The private option is so so expenive The Portland is £8,500 for midwife care - just called to see this morning - nearly choked on my muesli!!!

mel2005 · 30/06/2008 12:12

oh i loved my bugaboo, i had the boo seater and it was great. the firstwheels twin is like it in style but i am not convinced about the quality.
i think the inline ones are better if you can put the toddler at the back and the baby facing you in the front. then the weight is better.
i am the same as you i like my babies lying down flat so ideally i want a carrycot. i have read that at first i can put twins in a single carrycot so i might keep hold of my single buggy. i have seen someone before with twins and a toddler in the phil and ted. the twins were rather squashed in the bottom seat as they were a few months old.

fourlittlefeet · 30/06/2008 12:16

LG&T am nearly there... stil 10 days until the scan .

hope scan goes well Lenni. Elkie what a pain having to do 10 weeks twice, but it is worth the extra time at the end. Lordy, sounds like football.

I think the mountain buggy's look fab. Do they fold up small enough for a small car boot?

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 30/06/2008 12:17

I would get a Silver cross if you walk around lots, twins fit nicely in there. Big wheels too. I had one and loved it, only borrowed from a friend though and had to go back. We have had babies at the same time since! I really want one. Keep looking on ebay for a bargain but realistically i know i will need another double for the car. I want two!

Peri glad you are feeling better, it does feel great when you start to feel human again. Make the most of it

largeginandtonic · 30/06/2008 12:19

Dagnammit FLF...

The MB is lovely but HUGE to fold up! I would deffo have it but getting it in the door is a no go You can get a ,ovely carrycot on it too >

mel2005 · 30/06/2008 12:20

periwink
the only goo m&p pram i have had was the p3/pramette. they are terrible with warantees and you are only covered for 6m and it doesnt cover much. i have given up on them to be honest. my car seat broke and it was a fault with it not my fault but i wasnt covered even though it was a couple of months old and they wanted almost the cost of replacement for the spare part. make sure you get on in the sale or go for an e-bay bargain as they are not worth the high pricetag and dont have a very good resale value. the freestyle ones drop like a brick.

look on e-bay to see what the resale value are as if you decide whatever you buy isnt for you at least you can get some of your money back.
the best singles i have had are the bugaboos and mountain buggies. they cost more in the first place but they dont depreciate much so even after a few years of use they are still worth almost as much as you paid. and they are much better quality.

we want to get the quinny buzz

mel2005 · 30/06/2008 12:25

fourlittelfeet
my MB single folds flat and you can take the wheels off. when we go away i put it between the back and front seats and i have a c-max. it also fits in the footwell of the front passenger seat. it takes up the same room as the p&t and othet three wheelers and the handle fold down so it is sometimes not as long. if you go on the pushchairs.co.uk website they have the folded measurements.

Periwink · 30/06/2008 12:30

mel2005 - you are a wealth of knowledge lady! Will take your points on board and thanks for the great advise. These prams cost a bomb so I want to get it right - thanks again!!!! PS. How is your bump? Seems like you have got used to the idea of twins - I guess you have no choice - I think it is pretty special you are having twins - although not sure I would be thinking that if it were me!

fourlittlefeet · 30/06/2008 12:34

thanks Mel. I think you should post a piccie of your bump as you've got me all worried now as mine is huge but I'm only 11 weeks! Am hoping its all muffins...
