Wow, twins! I was just thinking this morning that I bet someone on this list is bound to find out they are having twins... double congrats! But I am not surprised it's hard to get your head around the idea...

Spink · 24/06/2008 20:01

Mel - it must have been completely breathtaking to see 2 of them dancing around for you on the scan! You sound like you're a planner - you'll be well sorted by the time they arrive

Periwink - glad to hear you're feeling a bit less pooped, that is a great inspiration to me.. I could sleep ALL DAY at the moment given the chance! (wouldn't that be gorgeous!!)

Missjackson, hope you're feeling less battered today, sounds scary. baby will no doubt be fine and maybe even enjoyed the ride... if s/he turns out to be an adrenaline junkie you'll know why!

chefswife - how was the chat with the mw? did you get to talk about the home birth? shame your dh isn't so happy with the idea, but like LenniEd said, hopefully at least this will mean you can address it as it's out in the open.
I'm hoping for a homebirth too this time, and my dh is a bit reluctant as I think he just feels safer in hospital. not sure which way to go really as if he is stressed at home with me, i won't be relaxed anyway, and so might be better off with him being calm and supportive at hospital! It is far enough away to not have to come up with answers now at least!

happyathome · 24/06/2008 20:02

wow mel-congrats on two.Sure it will be hard, but no doubt rewarding.Glad scan went well.Don't know much about twins sorry. What about the multiple birth topic in mumsnet?

missjackson · 24/06/2008 20:17

Feeling slightly better thanks Spink but still very VERY sore. Am really looking forward to my scan on Monday now feel actually very relaxed about it but will be nice to make it real and know all this feeling crappy is about a BABY.

Chefswife, sorry to hear about division of opinion over homebirth I would love a homebirth too but am trying not to fixate on it as who knows what will happen. Maybe there's a compromise I don't know where you live, but perhaps you can find a birthing centre that's closer to the home experience but still has the medical facilities that will reassure your hubby. Or maybe he just needs some time and more information?

Shanster · 25/06/2008 01:06

Wow mel, twins!!! I have always quite fancied the idea of twins, I am definately having just the one though.
Had a doctor's appt today, heard the heartbeat on the doppler, it was great!!! Now I can relax a bit knowing the wee heart is still beating at 11 weeks. Have nucal scan next Thursday, yay!!!!

tinkhasabean · 25/06/2008 08:32

morning

i have midwife a wk today @ 11 and a half wks to heartbeat and scan mon 7th

elkiedee · 25/06/2008 10:29

I'm 11 weeks today, I see a midwife this afternoon and scan is on Friday. Quite nervous now.

tinkhasabean · 25/06/2008 11:20

exciting elk you are only 3 days ahead of me.
i still cant believe that i am going to have a baby happened so quickly

LenniEd · 25/06/2008 11:39

I'm nervous about my scan and seeing the midwife too! Midwife is tomorrow and scan is Monday. Am hoping I get my named midwife tomorrow as I would like to have a proper chat about the cramps and blocked nose and I would like her to have a check for a heartbeat. If it is any of the more novice midwives I don't think they would look for a heartbeat since they aren't that good at it so don't usually bother until about 13/14 weeks. Good luck this afternoon elkiedee

fourlittlefeet · 25/06/2008 11:52

Morning

Lenni, I've got the blocked nose too; not sure if its hayfever or the dreaded 'pregnancy stuffiness'! fortunately it goes when I'm sleeping.

thanks all, about to set off to hospital now.

happyathome · 25/06/2008 14:20

for those frustrated and waiting for 1st scan like me(i was 10 weeks on monday),here's a website that shows a ten week scan. It's a moving video one too!.
It's at the bottom of the page i've linked you too.

poorbuthappy · 25/06/2008 15:46

Hello ladies
Just a general post to say how much I am enjoying this thread - it is soooo comforting to actually read that everyone is going through exactly the same as each other with symptons etc.

Heartfelt sympathies to the ladies who have had to leave...I can't pretend to know what you are going through, so will just say sorry xx

MEL - I am soooo jealous, I have completely decided I want twins and they are in the family, I have to wait until next Wednesday to find out and I think I might explode before then!

Bobbles - my dd is now running short as I have a hair bobble attached to every single pair of trousers, skirts, jeans etc. Even the blokes in work have noticed the tell tale pokey outey bit on my waistband and keep pinging elastic bands at me!

take care all!

poorbuthappy · 25/06/2008 15:46

why didn't my bold work?
I'm useless today!

MissMitford · 25/06/2008 16:25

Hmmmm I am wondering if my scan is really really late or not?

I'm due Jan 31st, so that makes me 8 weeks I guess? Scan not till July 29th, over a month away... when I will be 12 weeks. Is that ok? I kind of thought it was between 8-10 weeks, but I could be wrong...

We're out. Started bleeding and assumed a mc, wasn't surprised as I just hadn't felt connected or pregnant with this one, mild symptoms had disappeared earlier in the week. The real surprise it turned out to be ectopic - diagnosed at 9 wks. Thought it was long past that risk but as it wasn't growing, no heartbeat and sac only 2cm it wasn't causing a lot of problems. Treated with injections and didn't lose the tube so that is something. Did end up back in the ER on Sunday with excruciating pain but its still resolving.

Though very much wanted, I'm surprisingly ok with it. There are worse things and I have a fabulous supportive DH and the coolest little DS in the world so loads to be grateful for.

Goodluck for January.

mel2005 · 25/06/2008 16:57

hi all,
well its has sunk in a bit more and we have been looking at 6 seater cars today at the norfolk show. my husband is really excited but a bit scared (just like me). i am sad we will be selling our ford focus c-max as its a great car but we have found a honda version that is slightly bigger with 6 seats (3 in each row) i can have the twins up front with me.
OH has been ringing around telling people about the twins and alot of his friends have laughed.

i am also gutted i will have to sell my mountain buggy urban elite which i had already bought a carrycot for. its a fab buggy(and i have had loads). i will be on the lookout for the double version as i can have a double carrycot or two single carrycots on it. i think i need to be prepared fairly early as they can be months prem, which will be very scary. i dont think many go to term so i will be dec at the latest.
fingers crossed for you poorbuthappy.

scared1976 · 25/06/2008 18:29

Hi ladies,

TickList, very sorry to hear your news. Im sure youll be back on the chat very soon with a healthy bean.

I just got back from my scan. Booked a private one as even though am 11.5 STILL havent heard from my hospital. Is this weird?

Anyways, it is AMAZING. This is my first and had no idea the wee one would move around so much. I swear, he/she waved at us!

Sorry for those of you that still have to wait, but from what Ive had today, it is definitely worth it!

LenniEd · 25/06/2008 18:30

Mel - how much will you want for your MB? I might be interested as my DSis is also due next Jan and I have a MB which I adore, and I think she wants one for her baby. Let me know.

LenniEd · 25/06/2008 18:33

I'm sorry TickList, I hadn't seen your post (was reading upwards) - didn't mean to be insensitive. I hope you are OK, and it sounds like you are being pragmatic about things for now. Look after yourself though. I'm pleased to hear you haven't lost a tube. Wishing you success in the future.

mel2005 · 25/06/2008 18:53

sorry ticklist, i think i was typing when you posted (takes me ages), i am sorry to hear your news, big hugs.
