thanks nooschmoo-hope your'e feeling more positive now too.I'm just glad to see a light at the end of the 12 week tunnel...only 2 weeks to go.Just got so irate with DD(6) as she is tired and hyper and was a battle to get her in bed as quick as poss, with the minimum amount of energy i've ever had to do it with.
PG mummy's definition:shouty,shouty,nag,nag
(monstrous example of an adult)
advantage to PFB:pizza and other rubbish served quite regularly as veg makes PG mummy want to hurl .
conclusion:no-one looks forward to weekend....may be battle of Somme between mummy and PFB.Weekend childcare looks like unpaid overtime to PG mummy.

also, such sad news nonickname. So sorry.Hope you get a better outcome soon.
All the best.

have a good weekend everyone

Hi everyone, we are back from our hols. Sorry to hear your news nonickname, take care of yourself and don't give up hope.

Had a lovely time on holiday but lots of cramping - think it is constipation rather than anything else as haven't been able to go very often, so off to the docs on Monday. Haven't had time to catch up with all the news but have seen there have been lots of scans - am a little since mine is still 10 days away yet, but pleased for you all.

Am also starting to struggle with my trousers - have been lent some belly belts, which do the same job as a bobble. Think they will be in operation pretty soon. Have been in maternity on holiday though as needed new summer trousers/shorts and wasn't going to buy regular ones for them to only last a couple of weeks. Got a pair of cotton trousers and some cut-off ones too from H&M - have big jersey panels at the top so are really comfy.

Right, will try and catch up a bit now... wish me luck, got half of the last thread and all of this one to skim through, might be some time. May also give up and go and snuggle up with the dogs on the sofa

chefswife · 20/06/2008 21:45

congrats and welcome mrsmontana.

sorry for your news nonickname. get back on the bike and try, try again.

in Canada, we get to chose our midwife. i meet with two monday and wednesday. does anyone have any advice or ideas for questions to ask?

HeathersMummy · 20/06/2008 22:01

Hi everyone, just back from hols and catching up on all the news. So sorry NN about your news .

I'm 12 weeks today and no scan appointment came in the post whilst on holiday so phoned the midwife to see what was going on, and they managed to fit me in for a scan today ! Was really exciting to see Junior is fit and healthy and heart going well. Sonographer thinks my due date will be 30th Dec, but I've to go for another scan in a fortnight when they'll be able to take better measurements and give me a definitive date. Hope nobody minds if I hang on in this thread though - I feel like I know everyone here now .

elkiedee · 20/06/2008 23:19

Sorry to hear your news nonickname.

tinkhasabean · 21/06/2008 09:08

great news heather
i am 10 weeks today

Aniyan · 21/06/2008 10:39

Morning all!

So sorry to hear your news, nonickname. I'm thinking of you and hoping you get a positive outcome soon.

Well, I got the date for my so-called 12-week scan yesterday, and by my dates I'll be 14 weeks by the time I have it .

I can't wait that long (4 weeks from now) & we've been thinking about getting a nuchal fold scan anyway (which you have to pay for here), so I'm booking a private dating/nuchal fold scan & blood test for, hopefully, just under 2 weeks' time.

Got a busy day ahead of housework - catching up on all the stuff I've been too knackered to do this week - though I've cunningly scheduled in an hour of Poirot this afternoon - all hail Agatha Christie, ITV3, decaf coffee and lemon cake

chefswife · 21/06/2008 21:09

mmm... lemon cake.

Aniyan · 21/06/2008 22:46

it was delicious

fourlittlefeet · 22/06/2008 14:00

chefswife I'd say the most important thing with the midwife is that she makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. any stres can slow down the birth.

questions I'd ask would be things like:
when does intervention become necessary
should the placenta come away naturally
vit k shots
things about the atmosphere like lights/aromatherapy/music
water births
would she deliver breech/back to back or call for c-section
how many births she has done

hm
thats about it for now!

Am 10 weeks today yippee! Still 17 days til my scan .

Don't know if anyone else is feeling like this but at the moment I am ready to kill people. really. feel so angry and grumpy. just don't know where it comes from! Not usually like this with pmt so....

Poor dp and dc1 are cowering in the other room!

OP posts:
MrsMagpie · 22/06/2008 14:48

four I'm right with you! My poor DP. I ripped his head off this morning because he offered me some breakfast. Totally unreasonable. Lucky for me he is very patient and finds it all mildly amusing.

NoNickname So sorry .

happyathome · 22/06/2008 15:10

hi everybody,
thinking of you all.
in same boat FLF...17 to mine too(10th)..
also ripping heads off.ILS supposed to come today.FIL's birthday.Just couldn't face them today(and they're ok).House such a tip.Tried to tidy before work this morning...not very much done.Get comments from MIL about it looking like a bomb's hit it.Normally let it drift over me.Can't just now...so said to DH to take DD to theirs instead,so i could get some rest/peace.I do feel guilty, but fed up of the lasting effects of a stressful day.Might try a nap now.
happy and Snugs x

mrsmontano · 22/06/2008 16:01

how rude of your MIL happyathome !! those sort of comments would be bad enough normally, let alone when your preg/tired/emotional.
if anyone dares criticise anything to do with me lately, they do so at their own risk! ive developed an angry side but then i'll also generally have a little cry later... my emotions are slightly ott at the mo.

looks like i spoke too soon about my symptoms disappearing, the nausea is back with a vengance... oh well.
going to phone docs tomorrow to make sure i havent been forgotten, as still have no scan appointment or midwives.

tinkhasabean · 22/06/2008 16:06

hi
i am 10 weeks to flf
i have midwife appoinment a week wednesday @ 11 and half weeks cant wait to hear heartbeat and scan is two weeks tom will be excatly 12 weeks

fourlittlefeet · 22/06/2008 18:13

my nausea is back too . Honestly, what IS going on? I think I'm not eating regularly enough which makes it worse. I made nigella's choc banana muffins today and ate them at every opportunity to stave off nausea.

OP posts:
tinkhasabean · 22/06/2008 18:32

we made fairy cakes yummy

stripeywoollenhat · 22/06/2008 18:33

flf, i thought my nausea was on the way out last week too, but no, been feeling vile for the past three days.... increasingly whingey, dp is deep into the patience reserve, i think... oh well, all in a good cause, i guess. hope we all feel better soon!

fourlittlefeet · 22/06/2008 18:55

oh good. i'm not the only ogre then . haven't felt this evil for a long time (well, since pregger with #1). I was in Oxford street on Saturday and felt the urge to physically push people out of the way (I didn't )

Hi everyone

Glad to hear about the good scan news in the thread. It must be so relieving!

Nonickname, very sorry to hear your news, please come back and let us know how you get along in the future.

Am on holiday, which has been a huge relief. We have our scan on Weds when we get back, by which time Ill be 11.5 weeks. All holiday Ive been having really vivid dreams about it, and worrying that something will be wrong. Im sure I just need to pull myself together given (1) I had a scan at 7.5 weeks and it was ok (2) I am as fat as a house despite the fact that this is my first and (3) I pee LITERALLY every 5 minutes.

I guess it is normal to feel this way? EIther way suspect I shant be getting too much sleep on the plane home!

enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone!

Scared xx

Periwink · 22/06/2008 19:45

Hi everyone - hope you have all had a good weekend.

Nonickname - so sorry to hear your news, easier said than done but try to keep positive!

I am still eating like a horse and had a dream last night that someone was trying to steal my food out of my fridge ...... very worrying!

LenniEd · 22/06/2008 20:01

I've also had the nausea return after thinking it had finally gone. Grrrr!

Other things I would ask the midwife are what happens if she is with another mother/away on holiday etc. - you would need a different midwife. I would also just see if you click with either one of them. Nothing worse than dealing with an ogre between contractions. I would also see if your general ideas on birth seem to be similar. So if you want a more natural birth then go with one who advocates them, or vice versa if you want a more medical birth.

elkiedee · 22/06/2008 21:37

Don't read if thinking about sickness has a bad effect on you

Sorry for everyone who's feeling sick, I expect most of you will feel better at some point soon, whereas I started actually being sick at 10 weeks 1st time and at 9 weeks this time round. Threw up for 4th and worst time last night, I'd eaten quite a long time before so it felt like acid rather than food - last time that was a problem later on.

Hope the midwife appt goes well Scared. I must say I'm not sure I would have chosen the midwife who delivered ds before the birth, she seemed a bit scary, but actually at the time her approach was what I needed.

mrsmontano · 23/06/2008 00:25

elkiedee, that's the worst, the heaving with just stomach acid. bleugh
