Wow where is everybody today

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/06/2008 15:19

I'm here .

The medical profession really can't seem to reach agreement on whether it's ok to take medication for hayfever or not. Loulou - I wouldn't normally associate green snot with hayfever. That sounds more like a blockage in the sinuses, whereas hayfever is more about a runny nose, sneezing, and often sore itchy eyes. I choose to err on the side of caution re medication, esp as most also aren't recommended whilst breastfeeding.

Talking of which, are the other breastfeeding mums still going, or have some of you given up since getting pregnant?

Welcome hoff, and at still getting lie ins!

Great news on your scan mtw.
Hoping that your follow up scan gives you the all clear Jambers. Hope that you haven't started googling and scaring yourself with whatever extreme possibilities it throws up.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 11/06/2008 17:05

hi girls...jesus there's been a lot of scans showing girls, a proper pink boom!

firsttimer have you found a maternity gap store? I picked up some goodies when in NYC but can't find the proper stores in UK - am in London if you are

thanks for info twinklytoes - if only it counted for temps too, goddamn those rules...baby number 2 though ought to get a bit more money than now

baby is moving loads now after panics of being really late - hubby even felt it on monday, very exciting!

rosebury · 11/06/2008 17:07

Hello everyone

not been on for a while not much time and busy doing what I do not know but anyway here I am again.

Conggrats to everyone on scans and Jambers I am sure that it will be ok for you in two weeks I hope the time passes quickly for you.

07mum the medics make me laugh I am also 5.2 and my last baby was 9lb 4oz I went for a scan at 36wks and was told that the baby was average and would be around 8lbs. A friend in my ante matal group was induced at 38wks because they said that the baby was large she was 7lbs 8oz and she was a tall lady . For this pregnancy I have been offered regular growth scans not because i had a large baby but due to my old age, the baby may not grow very well I have declined the offer as I think that between me and my mw we will know what is going on in my pregnancy and I hate hospitals.

sorry for the rant.

All is well here baby growing great and kicking lots he is getting very strong now, I am having lots of interesting conversations with ds 5yrs he asks how is the baby going to get out and how did it get in I keep the answers short and simple which is sufficient for him at the moment thank god we have not had to discuss daddies involvement yet.

Welcome hoff nice to see our thread always expanding, there is a joke there somewhere.

perkypopsy · 11/06/2008 17:58

xxxxx

jenwa · 11/06/2008 18:09

perkypopsy I am tall and its sticking out too, very big!! Sure I look like I did towards the end of pregnancy with DD!!

Lozza70 · 11/06/2008 20:21

Hi everyone, just back from a fab relaxing hol in Gozo though I would recomend fitting some type of shock absorbers to your bump as the roads are awful! I think I may now have scrambled sprog!

You have been really busy on the thread, it's just taken me 30 mins to read all the messages. I'm getting really big, offered a seat on the tube both this morning and this evening. A first so woohoo I suppose it did help that I was wearing a fitted top and I don't know anyone who has eaten all the pies and ended up my current shape.

Think I am starting to feel some movement in the last few days as I am having a different kind of low down movement that feels like a kick.

Excuse the stream of babble hope everyone is well

jenwa · 11/06/2008 20:49

Anyone heard of varicose veins in your bits???

Appears I have one! Sorry if TMI! Noticed it when trying to aim my wee in to the pot for my M/W appt. Am uncomfortable down there anyway after previous 3rd degree tear and it appears to be having pressure put on it! Anyway think the walk to and from playgroup and town today and going to MW made the vein swell up and not sure but did have some nooky last night (TMI) and maybe that did not help. MW said that wearing a sanitary pad helps relieve pressure, god I hate those things but if it hurts then that will be the way forward

Anyone else experiencing them/had them? (thatyou are willing to admit!)

Ekka · 11/06/2008 21:07

CSWS In response to your question, I still bf dd 1st thing in the morning and last thing at night. I did persuade her to drop her mid morning feed (the only one so far that she hasn't automatically dropped herself) to make life easier for me clothes-wise! Mind you, it hardly took much persuading - I just offered her a cup of cows milk instead and she made no fuss at all .

jenwa - ouch, poor you, that sounds horrible. Have to admit that I've not suffered that, but had a friend who did. Unfortunately I've no idea what she did about it - I didn't really want to go into too much detail at the time!!!!

We're off to Cornwall in 2 days!!! I've done no packing yet and am still trying to work my way through my washing mountain so that we might actually have some clothes to wear while we're there. If I don't get it done, lets just hope the weather is really hot and we can spend all our time on the beach in swimming costumes (or in my case draped in the biggest towel I can find )

Oh my word. I am watching ITV, biggest babies. Holy mary how are those women getting those massive babies out!!!!!!
Jambers fingers crossed you get good results at your next scan.

Lots of girls to arrive in October. Excellent.

I def look pregnant now. all of a sudden this bump has appeared.

hansnava · 11/06/2008 21:29

hello ladies hope u all well

ouch to u jenwa never knew u could get them there.

im feeling a bit better today thank god, although i think it might be going to my ear as its been hurting today.

mjis im only 21+1 weeks and i have written a rough copy of my birth plan too. i typed it up on pc and am keeping it there til i see my consultant at 32 weeks so i know that im still allowed to try a vbac.

hansnava · 11/06/2008 21:34

Lozza70 · 11/06/2008 21:50

I got a text from a friend warning me to not watch it so I'm watching the Apprentice instead no big babies on there!! I am watching it in smelly vision as I have samples of the fragrances they developed. Duel smells really BAD!!!!! DH had to wash it off as it was making him ill

bethoo · 11/06/2008 22:14

ronshar you skinny cow! stop worrying! many peeps dont even start at that size you are now1

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/06/2008 22:15

Ooh how did you get samples Lozza? You should have joined us on the Apprentice thread!
I did mention the roads before you went didn't I? I lost my first baby whilst there, and did wonder if they could have had anything to do with it!!

Heard of v veins down there, but thankfully not experienced.

No birth plans written here, despite being 24 weeks already, as a lot will depend on whether I end up on insulin or not.

Blimey Ekka - that was an easy wean! Dd is feeding as much as ever at the moment, for hours at a time (bobbing on and off every couple of mins) if I let her.

We're also off on hols on Saturday, for nearly 2 weeks. Will take laptop with me, but don't know how easy it will be to get a connection whilst over there (France).

Lozza70 · 11/06/2008 22:22

Until a few weeks ago I used to develop home fragrances as part of my job and one of the companies I used to work with was the one doing the fragrances for the Apprentice. They sent samples as a bit of a promo I think but it was good to be able smell what they were smelling on tv. I could completely relate to the faces some of they guys were pulling when they smelt them

Jealous of your hol CSWS already feels like I am due for another one.

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/06/2008 22:39

You won't be jealous once you've experienced a fortnight in a caravan with a toddler for yourself .

loulou33 · 11/06/2008 22:40

Thanks for snot advice CSWS - i think its a sinus infection - like you i'm not keen on taking meds so will stick to olbas and suffer in silence (sort of),.

Got very swollen ankles again today - been swollen for last few weeks and don't seem to go down much a night but seeing gp on friday so will mention to her - tried riasing them when sitting but makes no difference at all.

off to eat some ice cream before bed....

Jambers99 · 12/06/2008 07:46

Thanks for all your good wishes ladies, CSWS of course I've been googling to see what the problem might be! From what I can find out, about 1 in 100 babies have high-ish levels of fluid on the brain, but only 1 or 2 in 1000 develop hydrocephalus (water on the brain), so in the majority of cases it just goes away by itself. If the baby does develop hydrocephalus, then they give you regular scans and an early c-section, and the baby will need an operation to put a shunt (drain) in their head to remove the excess fluid. Scary though that all sounds, I'm not actually too worried - there are so many worse things that they could have found at the scan. At least this problem isn't life-threatening.

Happy holidays to pepperrabbit, Ekka, CSWS and anyone else about to go away.

perkypopsy · 12/06/2008 08:50

Jenwa my friend had varicose whatsit and - she wears a support belt - lives in spain and seems to get excellent care there.
I'm not managing any exercise - also have swollen ankles but went for a walk and (1) didn't help a bit and (2) made my back 10 x worse so gonna take that as a reason to stay lazy
loz my kicking is low at the mo - often seems to be right over my bladder - ouch
ronny and hasa I wanted to watch big babies but apprentice won out in our house. Some of my colleagues have been doing the research - on mice not humans I think - makes me worry about the shed load of shite I ate in the first trimester - sods law that am usually healthy but became a junk food monster then hey ho

firsttimer08 · 12/06/2008 10:09

GirlWithTheMouseyHair, there is a maternity gap opposite bond street station. Its on the 3rd floor of the regular gap. That's the only one I am aware of, but probably the one on the other end of oxford street may also do maternity.

emkay · 12/06/2008 11:09

Loulou - I had sinusitis last year and it does sound as if that is what you might have from snot description and your ear hurting. At times I thought I had toothache too and even went for a dental check up. Try adding a little olbas oil to steaming water and breathing it in gently with towel over head. The best thing I used were nasal drops but I don't think you're allowed them in pregnancy. It does go eventually... poor you!

Is anybody else here prone to getting cold sores? I get them very rarely but have had five on the trot since getting pregnant. I also had one just before giving birth to DD which meant I couldn't kiss her for about a week! I'm worried this is something pregnancy makes worse and I don't want a repeat of last time.

I've found little Gap maternity sections in a few shops now - Chiswick most recently, but not as big as I had hoped for.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 12/06/2008 11:55

Thanks for that FT08

emkay I'm prone to coldsores and had two since getting pg...normally get them once a year if that - hate them! it's all probably down to exhaustion more than anything...
