UDC & Peartart - at noisy neighbours and/or revellers. My patience for such things went with my ankle bones. Next door being noisy today, but have lost all normal decorum and am responding with Nirvana. I feel like a hormonal teenager so it seems quite appropriate and cathartic to go back to the music of my teens!

Tassiss - LOL at your pineapples arriving a bit late then! Congratulations on Rebecca Grace, wonderful news.

Speaking of weekend babies - where's Essie? Have you beaten me Essie?

Like your thinking Emotionalwreck - in clearing out the house today, I moved my pushbike and I am dying to go out for a nice long ride in the sunshine. Problem is that with SPD I don't think I could get my leg over the crossbar!

Well spotted UDC - Congrats AberdeenHiker, love the name Fraser and he looks gorgeous!

alipalli · 08/06/2008 16:12

Aberdeen congratulations on the arrival of Fraser - bang on his due date, what a guy. Looking forward to welcoming you back to the thread when you are ready. You're right PP, UDC did well to spot that.

Josey you're doing so well and thanks for keeping us updated.

PP - I had the thought that Essie wasn't around, but maybe her DH is up from London for the weekend, so she is busy?

PregnantPenguin · 08/06/2008 16:29

Well remembered re: Essie AP, everything just falls out of my brain (literally) at the mo. Nothing or rather no-one falling out of my fanjo yet tho, unfortunately!

LauraT · 08/06/2008 17:02

Congratulations AH and Tassiss!

Josey, thank you for updating us on Olivia, I am thinking of you often and glad to hear you are able to be involved more in looking after your wee girl now.

Have been looking at the due date list and it's depressing. Think I'm the last, and you're all going to leave me here on my own as I head into July

Keep hoping that being early is genetic as my Mum was early by 2 weeks with my sister and 8 days with me... medical brain isn't allowing a lot of hope here though!

ktpie · 08/06/2008 17:02

Josey - Lots of love to you and Olivia, fingers crossed for her.

Aberdeen - congratulations on the birth of Fraser!

I've spent my afternoon having a nap, very exciting. It's really hot here today so staying in in the cool most of the time. Hope you are all enjoying your sundays.

systemsaddict · 08/06/2008 17:11

LOL EW, was wondering earlier if it is too odd to feel jealous of your shows - only in late pregnancy could one be fantasising about a bit of blood-stained mucus!

LauraT I am convinced that there must be some sort of genetic influence on length of gestation, my mum was late with her kids and I think her mum and sister were too, and I definitely am - so maybe you will be lucky and follow in your family's footsteps!

sophiewd · 08/06/2008 17:14

Being very lazy this evening, we have some lovely fresh pollock in the firdge but they have now gone in the freezer and about to go down the road to get fish and chips, just couldn't be bothered with the hassle to night.

aberdeenhiker · 08/06/2008 17:14

hi, still stuck in hospital waiting for strep b results because its sunday. fraser is great but not sleeping at nights so i'm exhausted.

after all our labour plans we ended up with a 3.5 hour labour and no time for pain relief - completely opposite of ds1 birth. pretty surprising but much easier to recover from. some stitches from a tear, but not too bad - especially after a nine pounder with a big head. i think i made an embarassing amount of noise while pushing. screaming seemed to help a lot!

i'll try to catch up on the thread overnight while fraser is gurning. and very jealous of all of you seeing the picture on our site- patientline has blocked it.

alipalli · 08/06/2008 18:04

AH - glad to hear that things this time around were easier for you as I know this had been praying on your mind over the last week or two.

My positive thought for the day on why its okay not to be in labour yet is that the weather here is fantastic, and it is far too nice to spend the time stuck in a hospital (typed in the gloom on the basement ).

Right, I'm going to go outside, enjoy the evening sunshine, and see how DH is getting on lighting a BBQ. It wasn't going well the last I heard...

Upsidedowncake · 08/06/2008 18:20

Great news re birth, Aberdeen. And hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. Are you in the same hospital as Josie?

bun2 · 08/06/2008 18:23

AH Congratulations on the birth of Fraser. I'm glad that it was fast and relatively easy for you.

Laura As far as I know there is a genetic link on the maternal side to length of gestation. My mum was 14 days late with my sister and 17 with me - I'll be with you in July in you go over (only I'm sure you won't) (I'm due 25/06).

Josey Still thinking of you. You are amazing. Best wishes.

poppy34 · 08/06/2008 18:37

Josey - love to all you family -am thinking of you all. You are being amazingly strong.

bun2 if that is true re maternal genes predicting lateness, I'll be in the fat hands/fat feet gang with you and laurat in July as well ..sigh.

congrats to Tassiss and aberdeen hikerallipalli I'm liking your thought about better out of hospital for good weather.. have had lazy day today but did manage a swim..heat has been very tough to take on my already pork like trotters.

No real labour signs unless cooking stuff for freezer counts as nesting?

Amberc · 08/06/2008 18:42

Am laughing about cervix envy - that's a first for me!! I don't suppose it makes much difference as I'm sure thngs can change in a day if the baby is ready!

I want to see Aberdeen's pics but i can't find them

Rolf · 08/06/2008 19:12

Amber - the picture is here www.spiritofplace.com/

So pleased your labour was so much easier than the last one, AH .

DH is finally home after working all weekend (till 4.30am last night, poor thing). I'm so glad he's home.

debinaustria · 08/06/2008 19:19

Rolf - glad your dh is home at last. How are you feeling today due date buddy? I went for a ride on a v bumpy road, had one bh on the way back, just having one now but not regular at all, how about you?

Josey - thank you so much for updating us, we are all thinking about you. I hope you've had more cuddles today and your boobs are settling down.

Congratulations AH - Fraser is lovely, what does your ds think?

Laurat - we won't leave you here alone, we'll wait until the last one drops before starting the postnatal thread - promise

bitofadramaqueen · 08/06/2008 19:24

Evening all, I've got my fingers crossed that the whole maternal genes and gestation is just an urban myth as I was 14 days late which would also take me into July .

Aberdeen great to hear from you, hope you dont have to wait too much longer for blood test results and that Fraser sleeps better tonight.

ktpie - I've been feeling the heat too. It's warm but not scorching here, but my internal thermometer is off the scale. When I got up for a 2am loo stop last night my face was beetroot because I was soooooo hot. Purchased some ice lollies at sainsbury's yesterday so they've helped today

PregnantPenguin · 08/06/2008 19:44

Sophie - Hope you get your fish and chips. I often get F&C cravings on a Sunday but all local chippies are closed...? It's so annoying! (Is it a traditional thing, I come from a fishing town but there they are all closed on Mondays, not Sundays).

I was two months(!) early, DH was 2 weeks early, this one is late by our standards already!

Aberdeenhiker - You don't need to see your blog, you've got the real thing! And he looks wonderful, sorry he's keeping you up tho. Sounds like a very quick labour! BTW I might need to look at your blog more carefully, what dodgy stuff have you got on there that has lead to it being blocked?

LauraT - We'll all still be on here at the end of July, but typing/posting may be worse due to sleep deprivation! Actually have you noticed the difference btw those that have hatched and those that haven't? Us non hatchers are all much more worked up and 'ratty' whereas the hatchers seem so much more relaxed now (again, could just be sleep deprivation!). Something to look forward to!

alipalli · 08/06/2008 19:56

I think that those that are hatched are a bit too pre-occuied for obsessive checking of MN. I on the other hand, keep on optimistically checking the thread as one the the few sources of entertainment that are still open to me...

Just checked with my Mum about gestational length: I was bang on time, she was early, and my Dad was early too. I am blaming DH's half of the gene pool, he was induced as they had no idea of exact dates, but he came out over 8lbs, so appeared to be q. ready for the world!

PiggyPenguin · 08/06/2008 19:59

DH is asleep on the sofa, kids are chattering to each other in bed. I guess that means that I have you all to talk to if no one else!

Sadly there isn't even anything decent to watch on tv.

Rolf · 08/06/2008 20:11

Deb - I'll be so cross if you, DM or Mellymell pop before me. Not that it's a competition or anything . I'm still getting BH, still feeling pressure on my cervix but nothing more than I've had for the past 3 weeks. You sound quite relaxed - do you feel it or are you drumming your fingers?

I stayed in bed most of the day - my in-laws took DD out and the boys were so good and considerate that I was able to get a good rest. So although I'm not expecting anything to happen I feel less weepy and anxious.

My FiL has got it into my head that I shouldn't be left alone. He's a retired doctor and early in his career used to work in obstetrics so he's well-informed, and I think still hasn't forgotten the excitement of ue getting a blue-light ambulance to hospital with DS2. It's adding to the general air of tension and waiting (and pressure!) around the house, especially as each morning all of the builders greet me with the words "still here then?"

A bumpy drive is a good idea. My digestion is still peculiar so I don't think pineapple or curry is a good idea. I finally persuaded DH to perform but I don't think he's planning a repeat performance. He was decidedly nervous about it, poor bloke. Beginning to seriously reconsider the ingestion advice that we all a few weeks ago decided to ignore .

makecakesnotwar · 08/06/2008 20:42

Congratulations AH and Tassiss!

Things are going OK here- three weeks already. I weighed myself (eek!) the other day and am nearly two stone lighter than at the end of pregnancy. Send sympathy to all those who are getting fed up...I feel your pain, though the memory is receeding....in fact I am looking forward to number two (though I assure you I am some way off actually wanting to conceive him/her!) Cecily is fab, apart from the periods of inconsolable crying, but only waking once during the night for a feed and BF well aside from that (hurrah, we did it!)

I am enjoying hearing all the baby stories, and hope that there are more to follow soon, but lurking more than I used to whilst in limbo waiting for us all to have a post-natal thread!

sophiewd · 08/06/2008 20:48

PP - don't know, our local in the village is only open during summer months and closes on a Monday, bizarrly so do both our local butchers, but they were very good even if DD had a few chips and peas to go with her mound of ketchup.

Makecakes, glad you are doing so well.

goingfor3 · 08/06/2008 21:14

josey Lovely to hear oyu are able to be more involved with the care of Olivia.

Congratulations AH and Tassiss . Most so far have had small babies so very happy to hear you also had a 9lber AH ! Tassiss Ds, who is my third was also the hardest to push out and a firend who had her third three months ago found the same thing!
