ah, I just like the drugs! No, that's a good reason. I don't think the hospital can force you to be induced at 11 days. You can refuse that.

Hi fisil, no they can't force me but they can boot me out to another hospital and almost certainly would Never mind. I'll just have to eat lots of pineapples!

Anyone think that this thread is getting a bit too big now?

logic · 14/02/2005 13:21

Raspberry leaf tea, I'd forgotten about that vile stuff. I remember thinking 'ooh that sounds nice, raspberries' and then finding out that no, it actually tastes like leaves I managed about half a cup before heaving.

Hi all. Nice to know that we are all suffering the usual aches and pains associated with 2nd/3rd trimester pregnancy .

Does anyone else's pelvic/vaginal bone hurt? Mine is killing me. I don't remember this the first time round. Maybe because it is my second child.

Also, why am I the only one who has bought nothing (except a travel system)? Have not even got DS old newborn clothes out of the loft yet.

logic · 14/02/2005 14:46

Respect for drinking that stuff, myermay! You deserve a medal. I think that my dates are more accurate this time because I had a blood test so hopefully it'll be alright.

Tbh, poshpaws, I think I have washed and prepared stuff ludicrously early. I still have bits and pieces like a changing mat to get. I am just getting very tired at the moment and I don't know how many shopping trips I am going to be able to stand!

Anyone else having trouble sleeping? Even when I am asleep I'm having very odd, vivid and tiring dreams...

LittleB · 14/02/2005 15:17

Poshpaws, I've only bought a travel system too! I've been given some things by my sister, but I'm going shopping on Thursday - can't wait! No pelvic pain, but still bad backpain, have been referred to physio and waiting for appointment. Does it depend how the baby is lying as to where you feel pain? I think my baby is breech, and slightly transverse, the same as it was for my 20week scan, the majority of movements are by my left hip, and in my pelvis, I think my back pain is where its head is! I'm hoping that it will move in the next few weeks.
Logic, I've had alot of weird, vivid dreams, the sort that when you're dreaming them you are not sure if you are asleep or awake, and leave you really confused when you wake up, and not well rested, do these go once we've had our babies?

Poshpaws · 14/02/2005 15:39

Logic, I have pregnancy insomnia (again, something I did not have with DS) and it is killing me. Bloody fed up with waking up to go to the loo at 3.30am and not getting back to sleep till about 5.30am, then having to get up at 7am and sort out DS and then go to work!

LittleB, funnily enough, I feel a lot of movement down in my vaginal/pubic area. Maybe it is baby's feet, as I can't believe the head would move about that much in such a small space

logic · 14/02/2005 16:10

I think the baby's position really does matter. She seems to be in a really awkward position today and it is affecting my back more than usual. At the last appt. she was head down though. As for the dreams, I think they go but I can't remember. One thing that definately goes is your memory!

fisil · 14/02/2005 19:29

I've had insomnia throughout this pregnancy, I think it is a major reason in having been unwell! I also have crazy dreams. Last night I had my recurring one in which the baby kicks and you can actually see the limb sticking out but covered in my skin (it was a foot last night and you could even see the cuticles it was so detailed).

And I haven't bought anything either except for a 2nd hand double buggy and a cute outfit (to try and convince me that it's all real).

Ooh Fisil me too - insomnia and wierd baby-sticking-out-through-skin dream! I've struggled to sleep throughout, and at the moment I'm waking up a lot with pins and needles from rolling onto my back. And lots of vivid dreams, inc. one - as I mentioned - where I could see the baby's face (really detailed) pressing against my abdomen. Sounds horrible but it wasn't a scary dream. Quite disappointed when I woke up that I couldn't see him actually

Holly290505 · 14/02/2005 21:14

Is anyone else suffering from heartburn?? Mine is chronic and its actually like burning in the back of my throat rather than my chest. Driving me mad now. I have also developed blotchy skin on my face, lower back pain and insomnia in the last few weeks. Any good tips for any of this?? Roll on May......!

Poshpaws - most of the movement I feel is really low down too - I even get a lump in my pubic area which I swear is a foot! It moves if I poke it and kicks back! I hope it isn't planning staying there for the birth...

maymum · 14/02/2005 21:28

Holly, yes I've been suffering from heartburn too. I go from nausea (still with me ) to heartburn and back again. I find that drinking milk or milkshakes helps (this also helps prevent me from waking up in the night with leg cramps - agony). I'm also getting through an industrial-sized bottle of Gaviscon in superfast time! You can get the big bottles free on prescription fom your GP or midwife. Sometimes when it's really bad, I take a swig right out of the bottle Other advice I've had has been to eat smaller meals, little & often, avoiding spicy or fatty foods and sleeping with an extra pillow. Sorry but I can't really help with your other 'symptoms' but I hope someone else will have some suggestions.

Uwila · 14/02/2005 21:52

Gosh, I must be lucky. I sleep like a a person in a deep coma, and no weird scary dreams. From what I remember, though, I did have a few after DD was born. Seems to be normal new paarent fears, but still very unpleasant.

All is well with me, but still quite tired. And on that note, I'm off to bed... zzzzzzzzzzzzz...

logic · 15/02/2005 07:48

At least the third trimester is just around the corner! Holly, even if the baby is feet down, almost all of them turn around in time for the birth...

Tinker · 15/02/2005 13:46

Am suffering vile heartburn too. Can't work out exactly what triggers it but think carbs do (always bad after breakfast). You can get lots of different types of antacid stuff from your midwife/gp - doesn't have to be just liquid plastic Gaviscon type stuff. Still find good ol' Rennies are the best thing though.

vicstervic · 15/02/2005 17:50

Ooh, mention of the start of the third trimester has got me excited - Friday for me!

Must go celebfrate with some Mini Eggs...!

SamCattie · 16/02/2005 07:58

Just had a wonderful 3 days off work - nice long weekend! I have now come back to work feeling very sick. I thought this happened in the first 3 months. I cane in looking straight over at my desk in the hope my special support chair was there. (I have been arguing about this for the past 6 weeks with work) And guess what it isn't! Does anyone know if I would be able to tell my doctor this, as my back is getting really bad now. Surely the doctor can intervene??

northstar · 16/02/2005 10:05

Dont know if i should post or not.........
Im really healthy, full of energy, sleeping like a log, no heartburn, indigestion, bad dreams, pains, aches, problems atall
Please dont kick me out? I feel so sorry for the not so fortunate, I really empathise with you all and am here for you. Cant wait to have our babies!!!!!

logic · 16/02/2005 10:28

Sam, your doctor could probably sign you off sick if there is nowhere safe for you to work...?

Actually it's lovely that someone is blooming, northstar. I am really pleased for you. Someone had to get lucky

northstar · 16/02/2005 10:37

Thanx, will justify my unnatural good luck with the thoughts that i'll probably have a horrendous long labour

SamCattie · 16/02/2005 12:26

It is nice to hear that someone has nothing wrong with them!! You will probably go on to have a wonderful labour!!!!!

LittleB · 16/02/2005 13:00

Glad to hear things are going well for you Northstar. I'm feeling pretty good apart from a bad back - which does come and go alot. Hoping to see physio soon to get some help with it. I've found aqua-natal helps too - Samcattie have you tried this - your work have to give you paid time off to attend as its part of ante-natal care - it really helps to loosen my back up and its great to meet other pregnant women - just a shame its only once a week.
I'm actually enjoying being pregnant now which I didn't for the first few months. I love the fact that I look pregnant too, and I can feel my baby moving around lots, also love the fact that I can eat lots of chocolate and cake and not feel guilty (I'm also eating lots of fruit and veg too - aiming for a balanced diet .

Poshpaws · 16/02/2005 13:27

Had my regular antenatal check at the clinic today.

Just as I suspected - breathlessness and pubic 'movements' are down to baby having its head in my lungs and its feet in my crotch .

Am absolutely knackered today but have next week off work (hoorah). However, I have a glucose tolerance test, anti-d and routine blood tests on Tuesday and a growth scan on Friday!!

Anyone else had a GTT? Didn't have one last time. Also been told that I should take extra iron
