Hi

Couldn't see a Feb thread so thought I would start one as am so excited to get a faint but definately positive HPT.

Fertility friend estimates a due date of 4th Feb.

Unfortunately (or fortunately)am off this afternoon for a hen weekend in Barcelona the first holiday in at least a year and a half and can't drink. Ohh well will have to be the responsible adult..... Hence checking to see if up the duff before I went drowning myself in Sangria.

Hope to see some others on here when I get back!!! If anyone cares to join me?

hey peeps,
how are we all...not been of for a few days, had two horrendous days at work and to be honest i just feel like getting a wee part time job untill the baby's born. I'm getting myself stressed over a job that i'm not even going to return to after this pregnancy and I feel like i'm getting no thanks for the work I am doing and they just keep piling on the pressure. I'm just fed up and to be honest its been coming for a while. I don't enjoy my job and i want this pregnancy to be as stress free as possible. pahh! any thoughts? how is everyone else coping with the work/home balance(impossibility?) ???

Clarabumps · 12/06/2008 21:20

i dont really have any symptoms apart from feeling pretty pooey. I want something to tell me i'm actually pregnant.

AngelDoll · 12/06/2008 22:45

Hi, I had BFP a couple of weeks ago, due on Feb 1st (just qualify for this thread!) Will be 7 weeks on Sunday, have told parents so far but not friends. Dying to tell them, is 8 weeks too soon?!

Going to GP's tomorrow, it's my DC1 so not sure what to expect. Feeling ok-ish, if tired, and bloated.

I too am worrying about what/when to tell work as I am in a similar position. People keep saying how brilliant it is that the team is all settled and now we can really plan for the future etc and I feel a fraud! "Er, actually, I'll be off at Christmas and you won't see me till, ooh, approximately July?!" Can't see that going down too well with my ass-cracking, ball-breaking manager (who does not want kids and is vocal about it)...

fruitstick · 12/06/2008 23:27

Honestly, don't give it a second thought. The people waxing lyrical about the team (including your boss) would be off like a shot if they were offered another job and certainly wouldn't give the company's future plans a second thought.

You've just landed yourself a great new job and a far more ball breaking boss than some bitter, sour faced old wench (although maybe with a bit more vomit!)

On telling people at 8 weeks, with DS1 my rule of thumb was that I told the people I would want to know if something went wrong (close friends but not the people at work or the neighbours).

Singingintherain · 13/06/2008 08:07

Hi to all,

I am very scared and just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation .

will start from beginning, sorry. I am supposed to be 6w+5, LMP 27th April, 33 day cycle due to MC (normally 27-29, Phase of 10 days.

I have been having a little trouble with the "old water works" . When I have been to the toilet and emptied my bladder there is loads of little pains which goes after a minute but leaves me feeling like I need to go again. Well, anyway, that was last weekend.

Yesterday I had a low pain and it hurt on pressing, so I went to see Doctor and he tested the sample,. but it was ok. He sent me for a scan. At the scan they could not see very much. They told me that I was measuring 4 -5 weeks. I am not sure how this can be as I tested positive two weeks ago. Now I am confused as to when I am due, how they got their dates or if there is a problem at all.

They told me that everything appears normal for a 4 - 5 weeks pregnancy. Even the sample I gave was normal. But if I am actually further than this, does this mean that there is a problem?

Guitargirl · 13/06/2008 09:12

Queeny - so sorry to hear your news, hope you are doing ok

Singingintherain - did you express your concerns to the docs, am sure they would have said something if they thought there was something to worry about. Am afraid I am not an expert on dates/cycles, etc. and am sure someone with more knowledge on these things will be along soon. But is it possible that this month could have been a shorter cycle for you than you thought, would this have an impact on dates? Maybe when they say measuring 4-5 weeks they mean actual gestation as opposed to date from last LMP, so counting from date of conception that would be about right wouldn't it? Re your pain after peeing - could this be a mild dose of cystitis? I had cystitis in early pregnancy with DD (before I knew I was pregnant) and I have since read that it is common in early pregnancy.

On everyone's comments about work. I haven't breathed a word at work yet. Our department is also going through a period of turmoil at the moment with the director and other members of staff either moving on or totally fed up and wanting to move on. Am just keeping my head down at the moment and getting on with what I need to do. Last time I did tell my boss early on as I had some bleeding which happened at work and I was upset. Am hoping I can last till after my scan before telling them this time, all being well of course - fingers crossed!

Nellstar · 13/06/2008 09:19

Think sadly I'm out of this one. Pink tiinged mucus this morning. Breasts had been hurting, suddenly not. Just like my miscarriage in March. Feeling pretty wretched.

NoNickname · 13/06/2008 09:32

Singingintherain - if you have a 10 day luteal phase, you wouldn't have ovulated until CD23. So you could easily be 4-5 weeks gestational age. Don't worry just yet. Will they be giving you a second scan?

Nellstar - sorry to hear your news Try to get a bit more rest and see how it goes.

Guitargirl · 13/06/2008 09:34

Nellstar - very sorry to hear that. Is it possible it could be light early bleeding? Will you ask for a referral to EPU? Take care - fingers crossed for you.

Nellstar · 13/06/2008 09:44

Thanks Guitargirl, I don't think so as it's so like the beginning of my last miscarriage. Feeling very bad must stop crying in front of my son. Selfish of me.

Guitargirl · 13/06/2008 10:11

It's not selfish at all. I cry in front of DD and for a lot less reason than this. Is there someone who can be with you today?

LuLuBai · 13/06/2008 10:22

Nellstar - fingers crossed for you

Singingintherain - I don't know about the pain but on dates scans are not 100% accurate.

I knew I was due at least a week after they told me I was last time and indeed she was 10 days after the supposed due date. They even put in my notes that I had a 28 day cycle despite me telling them I have a 35 day cycle.

Throughout pregnancy I had to have repeated extra scans as she was supposedly small and possibly not developing properly.

In those last 10 days when she was supposedly 'overdue' they tortured me with daily visits to midwives at different clinics across town who all tried to persuade me to have a cervical sweep or consider induction to bring on the baby. Just had to stick to my guns and keep repeating that the baby was NOT ready yet.

When she was eventually born she was 9lb1oz and very healthy.

I just had to rely on my instincs throughout and stand up to the everyone.

LittleSarah · 13/06/2008 11:00

Nellstar - so sorry to hear your news, I wouldn't worry about crying in front of ds, it's totally understandable.

I'm a student so I've no worries re work although baby is due half way through my final year so am hoping to do first semester and then come back in a year for the second... will have to speak to tutors.

Doc told me eating something before you get out of bed can help morning sickness, and so my fiance, who had promised me tea and toast daily when he found out I was pregnant, has to live up to it! Lol. It has helped the last couple of days though.

Singingintherain · 13/06/2008 11:00

Thank you.

I think I need to stay positive and know that at least as far as last night was concerned I had not micarried. I just hope that it keeps growing. My scan at 8w last time showed a large empty space and irregular in shape.

This time my scan showed a little black dot and nothing else. They had a long time looking and comparing it to charts and everyone was shaking their heads fetching others in to see and pulling faces. I was sure that something was wrong.

Nellstar - My fingers are also crossed for you. Please go and call your Doctor. Being upset will not help you anyway. I know very well about the "not knowing" bit. You need to get some sort of peace of mind and some extra support if you can from them. Let us know how you get on. Do not feel guilty about being upset, you would not be human if you weren't. Anyway, good luck.

Nellstar · 13/06/2008 12:17

Thank you everyone. Took DS and I off to see a friend which made me feel a lot better. Going to call the doc when DS has his sleep. Sometimes think these early hpt's make life more upsetting than need be. I don't know. Good luck everyone else.

TummyTrouble · 13/06/2008 12:21

I totally agree with you Nellstar. I saw an advert last night for a hpt that could tell if you, you were pregnant up to 6 day before you period was due!

I tried to conceive for 6 years and I must have had a number of mcs, however, I was totally oblivious as I never test until I am at least a week overdue.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, but good luck.

Nellstar · 13/06/2008 12:24

Thank you tummytrouble. I think those were the htp's I used! Did one test 4 days early (fool, fool) and then another 2 days late. Should have left it.

TummyTrouble · 13/06/2008 12:31

Sorry Nellstar to sound insensitive . I haven't had a pregnancy (til this) for 8 years and in those days these early tests, just didn't exist.

It's very exciting trying to get pregnant and don't beat yourself up about it. It's only natural to want to know. I'm sure I'd have been the same if I knew the things existed.

Nellstar · 13/06/2008 12:37

Don't worry tummytrouble, didn't think you were, thought you sounded sensible! I suppose the only positive is if I have another m/c next time (god willing there is a next time) at least I will get investigated. Anyway, really hope all goes well for you.

loopylula · 13/06/2008 12:49

My thoughts are with you Nellstar ? stay strong girlie, sending you a big hug and all my best wishes for next time. I totally agree with TummyTrouble, early hpt's can be more trouble than they are worth ? I too know from experience.

Singingintherain ? keep positive hon, I know its a nightmare when they tell you all sorts of confusing and conflicting info regarding your pregnancy. I expect they will scan you again in a few weeks and hopefully you'll get a more accurate idea of when you are due. Scans are notoriously inaccurate.

Mapleleaf134 · 13/06/2008 12:51

Hello! Please add me to the list. I'm 5 wks today and due on 13th Feb. This will be my first, but I had a miscarriage in Jan 08 so I'm feeling more apprehensive than anything else.

Not a single symptom so far, which is just like last time, so another worry.

Fingers crossed I'll stay with this thread!
