Hi

Couldn't see a Feb thread so thought I would start one as am so excited to get a faint but definately positive HPT.

Fertility friend estimates a due date of 4th Feb.

Unfortunately (or fortunately)am off this afternoon for a hen weekend in Barcelona the first holiday in at least a year and a half and can't drink. Ohh well will have to be the responsible adult..... Hence checking to see if up the duff before I went drowning myself in Sangria.

Hope to see some others on here when I get back!!! If anyone cares to join me?

Evening all - loads of newbies - congratulations to all.

Jelliebaby - I have a big age gap too. If this one sticks (fingers crossed), then my ds will be 5 when it's born. Quite scary. And I'm 41, so my time is running short too

PinkTulips · 07/06/2008 22:42

clara, at least you got the training before you got preg so if you do go back to work when both kids are in school it looks good on your cv.

am in the same boat as you regarding childcare, it would cost me money to work with more than 1 in childcare. all the more reason to have dc3 quickly and get them all packed off to school so i can go back to work at some point in the future

ruthmollymummy · 08/06/2008 07:08

morning all, its so great that being nosy is acceptable when I read back all the posts from last night that I missed!

Clarabumps - I'm in fife, so hurrah for another scottish mummy.

I wondered if I'm the youngest on here?!! (slight young mum complex - I try to make my wedding rings as obv as poss when walking around with DD and mention DH as often as poss!)

I just turned 22, and I feel like thats the end of me being young and now I have to start acting like a grown up!

ChocolateEclair · 08/06/2008 08:58

morning ladies . It has taken me ages to catch up! You all talk a lot! . Welcome to all the newbies as well...hope you are all as excited as me! I don't hink I have stopped grinning yet! And....I'm officially 6 weeks today! Yey!

I am now thinking it feels like I have known for so long already I don't know if I can wait for 12 weeks to find out if it's all true! Seriously tempted to have a private scan before then?! (or as someone told me to go in and complain of pain to get an early scan !!!)

To the lady whose friend was being horrible and totally unsupportive. I would give her a wide berth for a while, and let her know how rude she was being. As someone said she could be jealous or projecting her own insecurities onto you.

My nipples are still killing me ! but don't feel sick anymore. Not sure if that's better or worse. I have also bought a load more pg tests off ebay - seem to need to keep doing them to reassure myself!

Midwife is supposed to be ringing me within next few weeks to arrange booking in and 12 week scan - can't wait!

Have a great day everyone....xx

Newb · 08/06/2008 09:22

Morning all...

Why is it, that in the daytime this having a baby thing seems quite doable, natural process, people been doing it since the dawn of time, all very exciting, whereas at 2am it's more a case of - can we really manage this, everything is going to change, will I be a good mum, we're going to be responsible for a whole other person and (possibly scariest of all) OMG I have to give birth. Aaaaargh terrifying!

I shall take my huge boobs and comfy PJs with me now and watch a bit of TV to distract myself

ChocolateEclair · 08/06/2008 09:33

Oh newb....I SO know where you are coming from! I have been having the same thoughts! (and scary deams)...I'm guessing it's fairly normal with 1st babies?!?!?

Davidsmom · 08/06/2008 10:48

Hi Ladies,

Crap night DS really restless. Knackered.

Otherwise feel quite positive this morning

Newb and CE- I have been getting really vivid dreams recently- same thing DS. Think it may be partly a pg thing. Late in pg I used to have horrible dreams I had had him (but hadnt noticed ) and had left him somewhere, forgotten to feed him or something like that No chance of doing that with the real thing!

I used to lie awake when pg with DS wondering about the responsibility thing and as you say the BIRTH! But by the time I got to 38 weeks I would have done anything to have him Also nature gives us 9 months to get our heads round being pg then when you have LO there is so much going on (and sleep deprivation)that there is no time to think about these things- you just get on with it!!

Getting a lot of cramping again today- anyone else having cramps- reassure me please.

OP posts:
ChocolateEclair · 08/06/2008 11:00

that's very reassuring davidsmom! I was thinking that after 9 months you will just want baby out, and not be too worried about giving birth!

Actually I had mild period pain type cramps the other day and I was a bit worried, but they don't seem to have come to anything.

Also our friend saw me rubbing my nose as if I was going to sneeze - and said "that's a pg sign"!?!? Really? Why???

Clarabumps · 08/06/2008 11:21

Morning all- i'm getting kinda stretchy feelings down there that are a wee bit crampy..
I was just dying to get dds out by the time he was due as i was the most massive woman in the world and people ould greet me with a massive "whooft!you're some size" when they saw me..one bit of advice to the ladies who's having their first baby is...well two things actually...tell no one your names as your family will just slate them and say.."i once knew a who was smelly" or "no- you can't choose that's a cats name!"
then if you do pick that name you will always know that they hated it.
The other thing is...DO Not Listen when people say you are big/small/look as though you're about to pop(my personal favourite) as they are just ignorant to a pregnant lady's sensitive disposition....and they're all idiots!
Newb and all the others...me too..i have the same sense of dread..just when i'm going to my bed i think "am I just mental to think i can do this?" then feel guilty as i didn't even question my ds and his dad was a relative stranger and this time its a totally different scenario.
i think its because i know what i'm letting myself in for this time.

Aila · 08/06/2008 12:20

Thanks for adding me Davidsmom and ruthmollymummy!

Not had chance to come onto mumsnet till now, v hectic saturday entertaining, altho all I could think abt was that I was pregnant....Am dying to tell people! V hard to stop smiling

Nice to see that I'm not the only insane one who is having DC2 with DS1 so young!! Its a bit daunting, but I think will be nice for my babies to be so close in age.

ChocolateEclair - I have been having crampy period pains too, didnt have this with DS1... but been googling and it seems that this can happen in the early days and doesnt mean anything...still is worrying though...

Aila · 08/06/2008 12:24

Davidsmom - just saw yr mesg, I am having them too....dont worry, the site that I looked at said that this can happen and isnt necessarily anything to worry about...

NoNickname · 08/06/2008 12:25

ChocEclair and Aila - I don't have the crampy feelings and I'm worrying!!

Aila · 08/06/2008 12:41

I'm trying not to think about them to be honest! Telling myself its ok ...cos I am a bit crazy and I know if I start thinking abt them then I will get really really worried.

herbgarden · 08/06/2008 19:29

Evening all....to the new mums to be out there...it is all quite daunting, but you do cope and it is tough at times but once you've made that transition from just the two of you to two of you plus one and have (hopefully) got in the "baby/child zone" you can't quite remember what it was like before - and then it all just becomes second nature. I wasn't an instant fall in love with baby type - it took me a while but I suddenly then realised that I couldn't imagine life without ds and however tired/bored (yes it is sometimes) frustrated/distraught I was I I wouldn't change it for the world - and they just get better and better......

So, enough of me warbling on. I had some crampy feelings last week but they have subsided a bit now. Felt a bit nauseous yesterday in the day but today had a bit more energy (ds and dh both slept for 2 hours at lunch whilst I was ironing/packing/doing jobs - typical !!)....

I do spend time swinging between excitement and imagining life with 2 etc etc to worrying that it's all going to go wrong....roll on 2nd July (scan day). I'm just glad I have somewhere to go to talk about these things really....

francesrivis · 08/06/2008 19:35

Hello, please can I join? Got BFP on Friday - totally gobsmacked and feel very lucky as we have only been trying for a month. This will be our second LO - already have dd who has just turned two.

I'm really happy but have been stressing about my work situation - I am currently doing maternity cover for my boss but found out at the beginning of the week that she is not coming back and I am likely to be offered her job. I do want it but feel awful about the fact that (all being well) I will be going off on mat leave in 9 mths time - esp as it has been pretty turbulent at work for a while and my team have been saying how nice it will be to have a bit of stability!

I haven't had time to read whole thread and am just wondering if anyone else is still breastfeeding an older child? I'm quite torn about when to stop - I don't want to tandem feed and part of me feels that I just want my body to concentrate on growing the new LO - however I had planned to carry on feeding DD a bit longer and she is certainly still enthusiastic!

Guitargirl · 08/06/2008 19:43

Hi everyone and congrats/welcome to everyone's who has recently joined the thread.

I know what you mean about the worrying at night thing. I was up haf the night last night with DD and the other half, well, not worrying exactly more 'musing' - lots and lots of stuff going round in my head.

frances - I am still bf DD who's 17 months. I am also not planning on tandem feeding but am not really sure how am going to stop as, like yours, DD is still addicted! I think am going to wait till 12 weeks anyway before making a decision or thinking about it too much and then wait and see. I had read on other threads that the feeding child sometimes self-weans around the 4-5 month mark as your milk changes in preparation for the new baby.

francesrivis · 08/06/2008 19:53

Thanks GG - I will be interested to hear how you get on! I am leaning towards waiting until 12 weeks too but unfortunatly DP is not keen and would like me to wean her straight away. I won't make any decisions hastily though.

Clarabumps · 08/06/2008 20:06

well done you two- i had a horrendous time bf the last time and gave up after 5 weeks.so this time i'm going to try again- fingers crossed i'll be more confident this time. Just back from an afternoon in ikea-eeek!! having to re-evaluate my facination with things i wore before i had ds and just get rid of them. I really have to find space for two more people in this tiny flat (dp is moving in-finally)and i need to regulate my shoe collection.
I took a mad panic today though in the queue, as there were two toddlers screaming behind me and i thought- "oh god- is this me for the next three years!?" then it passed...

LittleMissNorty · 08/06/2008 20:31

Evening all

After all my excitement yesterday, I don't feel any different to normal today .....it was very different with number 1.....perhaps I'm being complacent?

Anyway, have a Tesco's shop being delivered in the morning so have just added a Clearblue digital test (at £9.84) to the basket!!

ChocolateEclair · 08/06/2008 20:53

Of course LMN! DP would not believe I was pg until he saw the word "pregnant" on the digital test. You can't really argue with that can you! LOL!

Will you have to hold your wee in until the shop arrives??? Hope it's on time!

Clarabumps · 08/06/2008 21:14

i've done four tests so far...got the doctors tomorrow..don't think they can do much however apart from say "so i think we'll be recommending the coil for you my dear as the pill REALLY doesn't work does it?"
was this pregnancy an accident for anyone else here?or is it just me who is immune to the contraceptive pill?

LittleMissNorty · 08/06/2008 21:27

a bit "unexpected" for me as well....although I wasn't being very careful

I don't do tests first thing in the morning....just at any time, so whenever it turns up will be fine ....I've already done 2, don't know whats the matter with me!!

Clarabumps · 08/06/2008 21:50

sometimes you just need that reassurance. I think i might do another one now- it has been four days and i'm feeling left out...
i could really go a glass of wine!think its because its forbidden now... now i want it!!
snot fair!! booo!

Clarabumps · 08/06/2008 21:53
