But Kay - York is so worth it!

I arrive at 11 and we're going to go straight into town for lunch at our favourite cafe - Cafe Concerto, round the corner from the Minster. It'll be a girls lunch - just me, bf and her dd. Then we'll go back to their's so I can catch up with her dh too and continue their dd's birthday celebrations. Then I get a train back at 4.30 to get me home about 8.45!

Not really sure you needed to know all that but it will be a bit of a tiring mad day!

GYo · 30/10/2008 08:07

Morning

Realised my scan is technically at 21wks so have updated. Yay Ses - your 21wk scan is on my weddding annivesary!! Strangely your 12wk scan this week was on my oldest friend's birthday, lots of coincidences!

4th Nov - Heebeejeebee, 7 wk 2
6th Nov - Diege, 7 wk 3 days.

29th Dec - Ses 21 wk

kayzisexpecting · 30/10/2008 08:07

Oh I know. York is just brilliant. The shopping is great and then if you get bored shopping(it must happen to some people) you can go to the Minster or the museum gardens.

I'm going to have to learn to drive so it's easier to get there.

GYo · 30/10/2008 08:10

Ooh Ses- lovely day. I love hearing about people's travel itinerys!

Hi Kay - hope you get a good trip to York if you are feeling up to it

GYo · 30/10/2008 08:12

York is lovely. Not been for ages. In fact I am planning a weekend away there with DH before the baby comes.

Can anyone recommend any where REALLY nice to stay? We will be missing a holiday so we can afford to go for a nice hotel for a couple of nights.

kayzisexpecting · 30/10/2008 08:12

I'm gonna go. Now I've thought about going I just have to. I'll probably only be there for about 2 hours but it'll be worth it.

wilsonmummy · 30/10/2008 08:21

I'm on the bus! I nearly missed it and had to run! Hoping to find some nice baby clothes in the new boots. Ses hope you have fun in york too.

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 30/10/2008 08:50

i am 29 weeks today
where is the time going nearly nov already

Diege · 30/10/2008 09:37

Morning Enjoy York SES . Will you also be in York KAY? Funny if you were to bump into each other!
Enjoy town too TINKS - are you officially in third trimester? Or were you there weeks ago?
Feeling dire again, having brought up breakfast. Now on breakfast 2 just not to have an empty stomach. I have actually got a hair appointment this morning at 10 which I'd forgotten about - may risk it as it's only 5 mins from the house - the things I'll endure to get my roots done!
Hope everyone has a good Thursday!xx

cantwaitforxmas · 30/10/2008 09:45

Morning Ses and Kay,

I've actually just moved to York to start a new job. It's such a lovely place to live and I'll have to check out Cafe Concerto - my mum is coming for a visit and I was looking for somewhere nice for lunch. Hope you have a great day.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/10/2008 09:59

Good morning

I have just written a whole catch up thingy, and then 'pooter shut down and did a load of updating, and I lost my post

Went something like: hope everyone has fun in York, hope the sickness isn't too bad today Diege (but have since seen that it is!) Tink, sorry forgot to answer about length of prev. labours, DS1 12 hours from first niggles to birth, DS2 2 hours from waters breaking (had nothing before) to birth, both were induced, but DS2 was much more spontanious than DS1's, had had the gel put in 12 hours before my waters broke so still not sure if I was actually induced or not! (They would normally repeat the gel after 6 hours if nothing happens, but the labour ward was busy that night so they decided to leave it till the morning, he had other ideas obviously!)

Erm, there was more to the catch up, but I can't remember any of it now

We are back into town today, no play dates yet so think we might brave it to Blackburn, I really really really fancy a packet of McD's fries (woke up and could smell them so much I could almost taste them!), anyway, will have to see if I can walk past the dreaded place without giving in! Though the thought of a proper coffee to wash them down with might just tip me over the edge!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 30/10/2008 10:02

All these connections with York!!

Have just gone past Peterborough

Have bought my first baby magazine today to read on the train! Will open it in a minute. My mum's offerred to get me a subscription to the Prima one (she subscribes to ordinary Prima). I always thought of Prima as being a bit...I don't know...old? Any opinions anyone?!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 30/10/2008 10:07

Diege - meant to say hope breakfast 2 goes down ok.

Kay - will keep my ears open for someone talking about DH with their DS and who looks like they GOF rather than BD and...?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/10/2008 10:07

TBH Ses, IMO/E they are all the same, they do the same handful of stories and 'facts', I wouldn't bother with a sub TBH. Just buy the odd one when whatever on the front catches your eye! You'd be better off getting a really good pregnancy book, and looking through the archives on here for any info you want to know.

There is something very exciting about buying them though, I get drawn in more than I should, which is ridiculous because I haven't read anything in one that I didn't already know for years!

sorkycake · 30/10/2008 10:15

I can recommend Sheila Kitzingers book Pregnancy & Birth. Fab!
Don't buy anything by Miriam Stoppard tho'

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 30/10/2008 10:33

Thanks guys - that helps!

Heebeejeebee · 30/10/2008 10:40

Morning all!

Ses - have fun in York. Just to add to the York stories, I'm originally from Newcastle so York was very much a day trip in the school holidays. I love the place though. Also, I think you might be on the same train as my boss, who I booked to go up to Newcastle today!

Just skimmed the thread but I was v interested in what someone (Ses?) was saying about tomatoes. I'm not majorly craving them, but I really fancy Heinz cream of tomato soup, and I've taken to dousing certain foods in ketchup (including a really nice fish pie from Cook! ) - and normally I'm not that keen on either...

Diege - hope breakfast - the remake stays down. I've had to start eating crackers on the train as I have started feeling green in the morning (I think its where I'm getting too hungry..)

tinkisbigandinneedofzzzzzzzzz · 30/10/2008 11:40

hi back from town
fell knackered cold and big
it is freezing !!!!!
just bought choccy in town.
have just ordered annabel karmels baby record book from amazon reduced to £6.50 from £10 and they now do free postage for orders over £5 instead of £15 so well chuffed
i am just craving chocolate

wilsonmummy · 30/10/2008 11:58

Hey!

Head is now full of colour and my roots are banished!!

Fancy something to eat but don't know what, i have an awful taste in my mouth!!

Gonna meet up with my sil shortly she had 5 children in 6 years!! yes she is mad!!But all the kids are adorable!!

Natalie..my puter did exactly the same to me this morning, i thought was losing the plot!!

Hope everyone has a good say!

Diege · 30/10/2008 14:01

Hello! My roots are also banished, and have nice head of highlights to boot so feeling better on the hair front anyway . My poor hairdersser, whi is 21 weeks pregnant and herself just over sickness, did have to rush out a get me a packet of rich tea biscuits though as nblood sugars plummeted dramatically . I am such a drama queen .
I would ditto what SORKY says about pregnancy books - avoid Mirium Stoppard! I am actually an advocate of GF (not sure if we can mention her after law case?)as she saved my sanity with dds 2&3, but realise she is an aquired taste and hardly MN fave! More baby days than pregnancy though. I do like a bit of Junior pregnancy and birth, more to give me a good laugh about £70 dry clean only cashmere bibs
Am scheduled to be up in York myself in a month or so, for the weekend with a friend who owns a flat there, though may reschedule if sickness not gone. A great time at Xmas too with ice sculptures etc.
Great buy with Karmel book TINKS - esp p&p which is usually the killer..

kayzisexpecting · 30/10/2008 15:16

ARGH!!!!!!!!!! Read Here Don't want to bring my rants here.

York was great, got some lovely pink fluffy slippers. Bus ride home was hell.

I feel really exhausted now. Both physically and mentally. Plus DS has decided that he wants to run around and scream very loudly and I just want to relax. But DH should be home soon.

Hope everyone is ok.

Diege · 30/10/2008 15:43

Bloody hell Kay what a nightmare. I think you were reserved in your 'rant', how obnoxious those people were! Hoping you can relax a bit now, but if you're anything like me I'd be playing it over in my mind all night..And then getting cross with myself for getting cross

tinkisbigandinneedofzzzzzzzzz · 30/10/2008 16:43

honestly kay some people.
i am tired now and finding it hard i am only 29 weeks today can imagine how you feel
i had a sleep on sofa was great
