Morning all

Diege - that is so spooky - I spoke to my consultant's PA yesterday who wants me to have a scan "within the week" and frightened the life out of me by the urgency. I'm still waiting to hear from the EP midwife, but wanted to wait until 8 weeks for a scan - I don't want to have a really early scan and for them to hum and ha about whether its too small etc etc. Hope the sickness isn't too bad...

Sorky - Xanthe's a lovely name

NJ - thanks for the clothing advice! All duly noted!

Diege · 23/10/2008 11:04

So that's a second bowl of shreddies for you then GRUFF? . Your bargains sound great - agree LIDL baby stuff is great. Another vote here too for M&S. Their velour baby suits are brilliant, though the sizing is pretty huge IMO!
Hope ypu have a good day NAT - thanks for the earlier advice. I think the choice was either a scan today or one at 7 weeks, so think I made the right choice taking that into account. Have a hunch they had a cancellation this morning and saw it as an opp to get my scan ticked off...
Feeling better after some toast and butter, so will push on with talk I'm giving to Consultants next week . V. scared!

Diege · 23/10/2008 11:06

HEEBS that is spooky! We must be very special
OMG I've just found a dead nit in my hair

Diege · 23/10/2008 11:57

Shopping for choccy sounds pretty exciting to me TINKS . Though I am off it at the mo'!
Feel much better after my toast. Sickness has been bad in early morning, then clears late morning, before coming back 3ish till bed. If it stays like that I'll be delighted!

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 12:19

Good round up NJ

I tend to buy mostly Next becuase I find it washes quite well and most of the stuff Ds2 wears is Ds1's previous clothes.
I find the supermarket stuff rubbish, but I do buy their wellies from Sainsburys.

M&P is good for 0-3months I'd say after that I'd question how practical it is.

Next & JL absolutely do the best babygro's/sleepsuits imho.

Gap is great for jeans but the tops run small for us and Adams is a waste of time, I never go there. The sizing is nowhere near the age of your child.

Shoes for us are Clarks once they get past 2, but until then I buy soft leather shoes from starchild-fab!

Coats (winter) I get from Debenhams usually JR for boys, MW for Dd. I think if they're wearing them everyday for a few months they might as well look nice

Nappies if your buying 'em, I cannot recommend Flame's site highly enough, she's fab.

If anyone's interested Ds2's bedroom was decorated in M&P bebe bleu but we're redocrating and he's moving rooms, so it's for sale if anyone likes it. If not I'll ebay it.

What can I get in Nursery stuff to match Dd1's bedding as they'll be sharing a room?here

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 12:22

Tink, I love the name Anais, but a friend of mine called her Dd Saffron Anais, so it was out. I also love saoirse (ser-sha).

Heebeejeebee · 23/10/2008 12:38

Sorky - that bedlinen is lovely - wish I'd had something that nice when I was younger! I love Anais too (though there is an Annick in the family which is perhaps too close)

Well EP midwife just called and I have an appointment to see her/scan in 2 weeks at about 7.3 weeks which is good because she took into account my late oving

diege - the dead nit has got me scratching!

GYo · 23/10/2008 12:54

Wow thanks for all the clothes round ups.

Really helpful.

Sorky- Im really interested in buying cloth nappies but no idea where to start. I looked at Flame website the other day when you posted a link. What type do you recommend for a little one?

thanks!

[Grin] Gruff- lots of blanket envy and Tink, lots of Wispa envy!

Hi everyone else!

Diege · 23/10/2008 13:03

HEEBS that's good news about the scan. Mine is scheduled for Thursday 8th Nov, 10.30am. Is yours the same day? I count the Monday as first day of new week, so technically the Thurs would be 7.3, or would that be 7.4?
No-more nits for me! used a special 'nitty gritty' comb that I got on prescription and it removes eggs plus nits.
Feeling sick again so going for a lie-down.

Diege · 23/10/2008 13:04

Mean Thursday 6th!

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 13:29

I have used quite a few different types of nappies, but I love, love, love the Swaddlebees Organic cotton velour shaped nappies, which I get from Flame, and they are one sized so last from birth to potty.
I had them last time for Ds2 and they've washed really well and lasted ages. You put a wrap over the top which can be either a PUL (pvc lined) or wool. I used wool and he never ever had a red bum, nappy rash or anything like it!
The wool allows the skin to breathe.
I've also used fleece wraps, which are pretty good as they wick the wetness away from the skin too.

For a newborn I can recommend the bamboo nappy Bambineo. It has a natural antibacterial quality, it's slim fitting, soooo soft and fastens with velcro. These lasted us until Ds2 was about 18 months and he figured out how to undo velcro, grrr! Dh liked these, but they do take a bit longer to dry.

There are tons of different types out there though. I'll see if I can answer any questions you have but obv I haven't tried them all.......yet.

Watch out tho' because nappy goodness is def addictive. There is no sweeter sight than a cloth-clad bum, imo. Don't get me started on them blowing on the washing line either. I'm watching mine now!!

Heebeejeebee · 23/10/2008 13:32

Hi Diege - mine's Tuesday 4th at 3.15 - I go by Monday too (just bad at maths!) so I guess mine would be 7.2! The midwife I'm seeing is the same as I saw for the m/c and I thought she was nice then.

Hope the sickness is manageable. I am just nursing sore boobs at the moment and am so hungry before a meal I could eat my right arm, though that seems to have eased off a little over the past couple of days

2beautifulgalsandabean · 23/10/2008 14:46

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the absence, been feeling blurgh!!!!

Congratulations Heebee and wilson

I have been trying to keep up just haven't posted. So sorry if i miss anything

Tink - i agree with gruff that i prefer Willow Bracken, but of course what do i know.
My girls have not very unusual names but with unusual spellings just to make there life difficult My DD2 name is unusual here but in the US more common and here often gets mistaken for a the very common Caitlyn!

Ses- i can understand you being nervous about the scan, i am nervous about mine and i haven't been through what you have. But hopefully after Tuesday you can relax a little more and start indulging in some baby purchases. The new house sounds fab

NJ- how are you now? Must of been a worrying time last week? I am very surprised that you have not been tested for anemia, which sounds like the cause for some of the symptoms. ~I took spa tone with DD2 and it was great stuff, how are you getting on with it?

Diege, glad you have sickness but that it is not too severe if that makes sense. Glad you have a scan in a few weeks and you didn't get rid of your IO dress

Glask- have you had your 12/14 week scan i can't remember when it was due? I am amazed that you feel so sick but manage to cook some scrummy meals for the family. Poor DH has been having to fend for himself last week as i felt so ill.

Hi to everyone else, sorry i've gone brain dead and eyelids getting heavy the dreaded afternoon slump!

I'm 10 weeks today got my scan on the 7th November so 2 weeks tomorrow, i'm so excited.
I've been feeling pretty rotten, no energy, tired but sleeping very crapily(is that even a word) House is a tip and i have no motivation to do anything. Sickness is slightly better found if i eat every 1-2 hours not too bad, but if i eat after aboout 6pm i get sick. Cheese DOES not like me and i love it but as i put 2+2 together today i throw up after eating it....
I can eat most things but what i am finding difficult is drinking? I just don't fancy anything and have to really force myself to drink anything.
I am thinki8ng about Sling for DC3, anyone have any experince of any? Like to idea of a ring one or wrap?
Better get ass into gear to collect DD1 from school, last day for her today for 1.5 weeks great

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 14:56

Hello

Yep Diege, think you've made the right decision to wait Great for Heebee as well, why can't the NHS be as good at these things everywhere? Hope you're feeling better after a lie down?

Sorky, have you seen the (I think it's called...) Rose Bud nursery stuff in MC? Off the top of my head that is really pretty girly-flowery stuff? Will have a proper scout round when I get back from school run (I enjoy nusery shopping far too much!)

Speaking of which, spose I'd better go and brave the driving rain/snow and wind t'is cold today!

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 23/10/2008 15:13

hi

just got back from midwife all great.
heard a very fast hb, measuring correct for dates.
midwife reckons she is head down and that she could well be a 7lber as dd1 was 6lbs12.5ozs guessing subsuquent babies are always abit bigger.
wee sample and blood pressure great.
dd got to sit on the table next to me while doing hb etc
it is so windy though thought we were going to get blown away
seeing her in 3 weeks

clothes again

i go for clarks shoes from cruising ones dd has awkward feet doesnt fit other makes well.
coats next or tesco have just bought dd a coat from tesco really nice.
vests and sleepsuits have just bought tesco ones for dd2.
dd1 had next ones came up huge
agree that adams is hopless especially when it comes to sizing
luv mothercare bits dd1 had some last summer, luv there denim dresses
dont like woolworths either not very good quality
main reason i shop in next is that only decent clothes shop we have otherwise we only have adams or woolworths in town
tend to order most of dds clothes via catolouge on my next account as store doesnt hve everything
for nappies definetly pampers especially new baby they are great
have tried tesco own and huggies didnt get on with them!!
sorky bedding is gorgeous

hbj - not long till your scan either

2bgs not long till urs either hope u feel better soon

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 15:14

2gals I use a coorie, I love it.

I have a ring sling too, but bought this when Ds2 was 1 so have yet to try it with a LO.
Dh has his own, primaxx baby bag thingy, he likes it.

I don't recommend the front carry baby's legs dangle out he bottom ones, not good for tiddler's hips according to the PT's I know.

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 15:18

I've found this for baby what do you think?

I think it might be a bit expensive

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 15:21

found the rosebud one Nat, that is pretty and cheaper too.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 15:21

Sorry 2BG, must have x posted! Sorry you're feeling so badly I keep forgetting the spatone stuff, but I actually don't think I need it, I think I must have had some sort of UTI that built up over a couple of weeks (making me feel lousy and tired, and then leading to not being able to wee), and obviously I have fought it off myself without AB's. This week, although I am certainly not full of the joys of spring, I feel 100 times better than I have done the last few weeks. I have been caught in the anemia cycle before when I was younger and I know it doesn't come and go like whatever was wrong with me!

Right, will get on with the nursery look out, I need to buy a quilt for DS2 anyway so may as well look at that at the same time!

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 23/10/2008 15:28

sorky that one is sweet 2.
have you looked on the white companys website that is where dds covers are from, vertbaudet do lovely bed and cot sets too.
we had a front carrier with dd and didnt get on with it hoping to find a sling @ nct sale on sat cant wait to go now

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 15:29

Sorry x posted with everyone then!

Re. reusables, I think it depends on the child, DS1 went through stages of pampers, then they started leaking so we went for huggies, which didn't leak, for a while, so then we went back to pampers. DS2 pampers and huggies leaked, so we started trying the shop brands, the best we found were morrisons own, which were brilliant, and cheap as chips, but then they started leaking, so he is back to (so far) leak proof pampers again! Have got DS3 pampers new baby, not even the first size I don't do small babies DS2 is actually starting to tell me when he has had a poo (which is more the DS1 ever did!!) so am hoping beyond all hope he will be ready for toilet training long before DS1 was, two in nappies is my biggest about having 2 so close together.

Sorry, have gone on a bit haven't I?! Will go see the nursery stuff!

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 15:30

ooh yes vertbaudet of course, how did I forget them?

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/10/2008 15:38

Afternoon all, good to find you all here still chatting!!

All this busy christmas period at work is really getting in the way of my MNing time! Mind you I suppose thats the price you pay for working for a Toy Manufacturer, christmas is always goign to be busy!

So is everyone well? Have I missed anything important?

Had my 20wk scan last Friday and everything was well. Couldn't decide whether to find out the sex even as we walked into the room but whilst we were in there it was just far too tempting not to find out, especially as DH and I both though we had seen something that gave the game away. We were right of course, so yes, I am having a boy . I've always imagined having a boy (not that I would have minded having a girl of course) just always thought I would have a boy first for some reason. It also helps "prove" the GOF near/on OV day theory as we certainly GOF'd before, on and after ov.

Went to the baby show in Earls court on the Friday afternoon (only cos my mate who I used to work with was on my old companies stand and had free tickets) and it was quite fun wandering around looking at all the baby stuff. Spoke to a lovely MNer on a real nappy stand, I wonder if it was the Flame you are talking about Sorky? There are so many real nappies out there, I can quite see how they can get addictive!

Right anyhow, probably time to get back to some work.

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 23/10/2008 15:38

got gorgeous cot sheets from vertbaudet.

any girls names sugesstions?
