Next's 'Bunnies' range is quite similar to M&P's Roundabout stuff, but cheaper, not so much to choose from though.

Kidsline and Lollipop Lane don't really have anything suitable, am still looking.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 15:41

Hiya Playing, congrats on the little boy Glad you are well

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 15:45

I thought the bunnies was nice but a bit too pink iykwim.

Congrats on a little boy Playing, glad scan went well.

Flame site is called bumfluffnappies.com.

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/10/2008 15:45

Hi Nat, thanks, how are you and the bump?

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/10/2008 15:48

Hi Sorky, sorry x post. It wasn't Flame by the looks of that, but its great to see another good nappy website. So many choices!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 15:49

Had a bit of a scare last week, but all is well thanks

Sorky, I know what you mean about too pink, it crossed my mind you might think that (this being a very blue household, nothing seems too pink for me!!)

I have looked at all the obvious places, still think either Rose Bud or Roundabout, am just about to check JL because that is where I'll order his quilt from, but if there is nothing there, not sure where else to check.

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 23/10/2008 15:49

congrats on your boy playing

GYo · 23/10/2008 15:50

Hi Sorky
Thanks for that fantastic info about nappies!

Just the kind of thing I needed. Im feeling quite bewildered by choice.

One more question if I may

How many do you need? I guess it depends on drying space (we dont have a tumble dryer at the moment) I suppose for a newborn you need a fair number?

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/10/2008 15:56

OO Nat, sorry to hear that, I've been very bad at keeping up with whats going on in MN recently . I'm glad to hear all is ok now.

GYo · 23/10/2008 16:01

I really need to catch up on all todays posts but congrats on the boy playing!!

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 16:07

I know NJ good nursery ranges for girls do seem to be a bit thin on the ground, and I just can't buy beige/white, it's not us.
Decide what's most important to you;

cost, bulkiness, drying time (esp if no tumbler in winter) and ease of use.

That should narrow down what is best suited to you.

You can then further narrow options to get the ones right for you.

I think I bought about 20 nappies; 16 swaddlebees and 4 bambineo's, but I can't remember for sure.

I worked upon the fact they need changing about every 2-3 hours during the day when newborn, sometimes that involved changing the whole nappy, but sometimes just the insert. Basically at every b'feed I'd check the nappy.

I'd wash every other day and dry pail the nappies in a peddle bin until it's full (doesn't take long) probably half the nappies will used each day.

If you opt for nappies that need wraps then you need far fewer of these as they don't get dirty or wet (usually) and can stay with baby through 3-4 nappy changes, depending on which ones you opt for.

You can buy birth-to-potty packs which have everything in. I used Bambino Mio for Dd1, but I wouldn't recommend them now. There was very few options out there 7-8 years ago and it was the best for us at the time.
It didn't last for Ds1 though.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 16:10

No JL has nothing either Sorky.

Thanks Playing

Sorry Tink, meant to say glad all went well at the MW's

GYo · 23/10/2008 16:16

Thanks Sorky :-) really good to talk to an expert.

My sister thinks Im mad but Im really keen to try them at least

Will investigate tonight and work out the intial costs!

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 16:18

pmsl I'm nowhere near an expert!

I just love 'em.

Flame's site has a classifieds section, you could pick up some bargains there. I've bought a few odd nappies for pennies from classifieds like that. Then, if I like the nappy, I search out new ones.

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 16:26

Tink on your other thread someone suggested Sienna or Savannah....I lurrrrve Savannah. I think it's absolutely perfect for a match to Dd1's name but more importantly to your surname!

Ooh, Ooh please call her Savannah!!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/10/2008 16:27

Sorky, that is so useful , of course I have no idea whether which one out of cost, bulkiness, drying time and ease of use is more important to me!! I think my plan is just to try lots of different types and go from there. Plus my old company is just about to start distributing a type of nappy (can't remember which one for the life of me now) so I might offer to trial them for them or at the very least I will get them at trade + VAT, so I will def give them a go. Anything to save a bit of money.

Hi GYo - I haven't caught up with the thread today either. You must be near your scan now, do you know whether you plan to find out the sex?

lardybump · 23/10/2008 16:37

evening everyone. I have just pissed myself laughing at this. Tears are streaming down my face.. I am sure you have all seen it but for those who havent dont read at work.... he he he it is so funny

2beautifulgalsandabean · 23/10/2008 16:39

Ok NJ i have another search for you to do.
Our pushchair. I was initially going for the buzz 4 with Dreami cot and maxi cosi car seat and around £500 all in. I have now seen sense and decided that we do not need to spend that now.
Due to flyin/emigrating 4-6 weeks after baby due have decided to go for a more lightweight buggy/pushchair type for now then purchase a more substanial pram/pushchair once there and will be cheaper.
Plus do not want to spend £500 on a pushchair to get trashed on the plane, luggage handling i would be gutted
So we need one that can use from newborn, not too pricey and maybe even has a flight case that can be purchased??? Any ideas?
Anyone?

Congratulations on the boy playing

Have no idea on real nappies even thou would love to give a go, but don't think would be the best idea in the middle of emigrating and plane journeys

Sorky have you tried the mei ta?? Sling.

Tink i love savannah as well, DD2 nearly got that name. I love the name honour but DH hates it!!! I have a long long list of girls names that DH only likes 1 of My boys names are growing at the moment love Austin.

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 16:43

no I haven't. what kind of a sling is it?
where are you emigrating to? thought about second-hand?

2beautifulgalsandabean · 23/10/2008 16:49

We're emigrating to the US tickets were booked for 12th May, DC3 now due 22nd May so tickets will be changed after 12wk scan to June 30th i'm thinking.
Second hand sling?
Mei ta(not sure if that is correct spelling) Is a front sling but is designed to have baby/child in sitting position so not to damage hips. Just something i found on my search. Going to look out for local NCT sale.

LB- that story was sooo funny i was LOL.

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 16:53

no, second hand buggy, maybe at nct sale.

could always get rid once you're settled in US and buy something new.

LB that was hilarious!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 16:58

Savannah is lovely

LB, is it OK with the kids about?

2BG, yes either 2nd hand if you're only going to be using it for a few weeks, or off the top of my head, how about the Quinny Zapp (even second hand)? No carrycot option, and can only be used from newborn with the carseat, but it is light, cheap(-ish), and I am almost certain you can buy a travel bag thing for it. Other option would be a Maclaren type buggy, again no carry cot options, but they do go flat.

Will have a better search in a minute, am still on the hunt for a cotbed quilt, but have realised that a cotbed quilt will need some cotbed quilt covers.... (how clever am I?!! Grrrr), priced one lot up and it was £80, for two pillows, two bedding sets and a quilt, thought it was a bit steep but actually writing this I realise it's not really for all of that.... my poor DH's bank account is about to take another hit.

sorkycake · 23/10/2008 17:03

You don't want M&P bebe bleu do you NJ?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/10/2008 17:09

Thanks, but no, he is a big fan of Thomas the Tank, and I've found cotbed bedding that actually match the room colours with Thomas on it, so I will get it, I was just a bit at the total price, but like I said, once I'd written down what it includes it doesn't seem so bad! I am used to wiping the cobwebs off my switch card, at the moment it is sparkling with all the whipping it out of my purse!

Kids eh? How dare they cost money?!

lardybump · 23/10/2008 17:12

NJ you have to read it the kids will just think you are mad because you are laughing so much....
