Morning!

DS didn't sleep very well last night so I feel a bit dead this morning. I don't think he ever actually woke up. He seemed to be crying in his sleep.

I can't wait to go shopping tomorrow to B&Q. I always enjoy going to B&Q even when I don't need anything. I've got paint and all sorts to buy. I'm also going to go to Asda and look at baby clothes!!

Hope everyone is ok.

Diege · 22/10/2008 09:20

Morning! In office finally after delayed train. Agree, it's freezing!!! Sickness a little worse today, so have big bag of snacks to hand. Have found ginger and oatmeal cookies quite healpful, up to now! Just hope I can get through my 2 hours of teaching today ok.
On gender-front, my gofs for dds were all-over the place, before, during after ov. I think I just don't 'do' boys (apart from dh )This time round we goffed pretty much every other day until about day 17, and think THE gof was on ovulation day or day before.
Right, best go, boss hovering...

Morning all! Boss is away now for 10 days so plenty of time to mumsnet catch up on things. Diege - my train was late too! Hope you're not feeling too sick!

Kay - I should introduce you to my dh! I loathe B&Q and avoid trying to go there at all costs...

Tink - I have only glanced at the earlier posts, but how do you work out if its a girl or boy from when you ov'd?

Also, does anyone know the answer to this? I'm 5'3 and no one in my family is much taller (the men in my family are around 5'9 max). My DH is about 5'6/5'7 and his entire family aren't terribly tall (his mum and sister barely scrape 5ft). So, does that mean I could have a smaller baby, or are all babies born to an average size and then grow (or not) from there?

wilsonmummy · 22/10/2008 10:44

Ahaaa i found you all again, please could i have a seat saved..... as i will now need one as i have BFP as of this morning!! Yippeeee i can't stop grinning to myself!!!

GYo · 22/10/2008 12:15

Hi Wilson

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 22/10/2008 13:16

hi

brrrrrrrrrr

it is so cold

dd went to nursery they had an autumn walk got a lovely collection of fir cones etc.
i did food shop bought ingredients for macaroni cheese and spag bol also going to have jacket pototoes and make pizzas.
bought my dads bday pressy and cards, friends pressy and card,a warmer coat for dd, some 0-3 month pink and white vests and sleepsuits and lamaze socks and wrist rattle set with bugs on.

hi gyo - hope that you are warmer now. it is freezing today

kay - soory to hear that you didnt sleep well
dd finally sleeps through night keeps waking @ 5:30am not good but better then she was
ye for shopping asda does lovely baby clothes.

diege - trans are such a pain especially in autumn/winter - delayed leaves on the line especially if there is snow
hope that sickness goes

heebee -

make love 3 days before ovulation for a girl
for a boy - make love on the day of or day before
i am 5ft2 and dh is 5ft8 we are both skinny.

dd weighed 6lbs12.5ozs when born
so fairly petite.
we have fussy eaters in our genes though dd never ate much is now 3 years old only weighs 24lbs6osz and is in clothes for 18-24 months.

wm- congrats great news

glas - halloween bits sound gr8
glad u r feeling better now

Diege · 22/10/2008 13:19

Congrats WILSON . That's brilliant news. Have you worked out your edd yet?
Found lecture a bit hard going, and students sussed something was up...I was a bit 'flakey' when I was trying to explian things, and did say I wasn't too well. They were lovely and asked if I had flu , but managed to say I just feel a bit under the weather...not sure how I will sustain this for the next 8 weeks or so. Any suggestions welcome!
HEEBS, I am also 5' 3" and dh is 5' 9 ish. I think that there is some variation on babies' length when born, hence the perecentile charts. My dd1 was always in the 5th percetile for height, but she's now in the top 10% height range for 7 year olds, so no pattern of growth really!
Hi GLASK - halloween offers look good!

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 22/10/2008 13:20

what do you ladies think of bracken willow for our little girls name.
our dd started on 24th centile then dropped tight down is on 0.4th now

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 22/10/2008 13:30

I like the name tink.... I really love willow!! and it sounds good with Bracken, I've never actually heard of that before!!

Not the sort of thing i'd choose as we have called the other 2 DC's fairly traditional names, and nothing too modern would go right with their names, or our surname, as we've got an odd surname we feel for our kids they need a simple name that wont need spelling aswell as our surname!!

Heebeejeebee · 22/10/2008 13:47

Tink - that sounds lovely! On a bit of the same vein as glask, I think I'll head a bit more to French names as my surname is French/Mauritian and half my inlaws don't speak English (so Harriet etc might be a bit cruel).

Thanks all for the advice re size - always wondered!

Tink - thank's for that. To cover all bases, DH and I gof'd every night from 4 or 5 days before, so I guess I'll never know...!

Glask - the Abel and Cole stuff is great! I have my niece (7) and nephew (2) coming down for Halloween and its also my sil's 40th, so I was thinking about a pumpkin and will also get the cake to double as a birthday cake! Will also quote your name when I order!

I just needed to go for a walk to talk myself down from a ledge (metaphorically). I just spoke to my consultant's PA, who was delighted to hear that I was pg, but seemed v keen for me to see the EP midwife within the week (even putting me through to ante-natal). The consultant had wanted to change my tablets due to my uterine lining not being thick enough, but when I spoken to her she said it was 6mm and the ideal was 7mm, so I was borderline, but it would be ok. Just went into a tailspin and convinced it was all going to go wrong, when DH emailed me to say that, according to his research, the problem with a thin ul is implantation, rather than keeping it there..

Incidentally, ante-natal hadn't got my drs referral, the drs said they had sent it out, but printed out another copy while i was on the phone to fax through to them there and then.

Phew! I feel like I could do with a lie down now

wilsonmummy · 22/10/2008 14:00

Hi again!

Thanks everyone feel like i'm floating!! I've done two tests this morning and there was a definite line on each test, very faint though but definatley there!! I hope!!!

Deige..my last af was on the 23/sept so roughly my edd would be around the 30/june but as i had 2 emergency c'sections i should imagine that it'll be two weeks prior to that!!

Only thing is with dd1 i was 13 days late but with dd2 i was 10 days early so not sure what dr's will advise, they wanted to give me a planned c section with dd2 but i refused it but got a feelin i won't be able to get out of it this time!!

wilsonmummy · 22/10/2008 14:04

Tink... love the name, i love unusual names but my dh is a bit more traditional. Georgia and Leah was a daring as he would go!! Although for a boy i've always wanted Cole!! Ya never know!! i may actually get to use it!!

Heebeejeebee · 22/10/2008 14:06

Glask - I'm just placing the order, but re your recommendation, it wants your address as well as your name. Do you want to CAT me it?

Ow! I just fell over in the shop and my bum really hurts. Dh has said to sit down so here i am on my mobile as we're at the new house.

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 22/10/2008 16:31

our daughter has an unusual name will go perfectly

sorkycake · 22/10/2008 16:58

Hi all,
Went to m/w this morning all well, it's the same m/w who delivered my last 2 dc's and I love her to bits, so that's fab
I had to have an emergency appt with the doc this morning as I def have spd with SI pain . I couldn't even walk downstairs this morning.
M/w says it's likely to be worse than last time which is just shit. She also said that they may induce me early if I end up not being able to cope with the pain or immobility. I didn't even think of that tbh. Then she cheered me up by saying she would be prepared to sweep me earlier than due date to enable me to have my home birth.

Heard h/b and I'm measuring a bit on the small side for my dates, but who cares my tut hurts!!

sorry for me post

Ooh Congrats to Wilson!

Kayz are you visiting the m/w to get checked out after your fall?

Tink I love both of your names individually, but I'm not so sure about them both together. I'm sure she'll be every bit as beautiful as her name whatever it is. I like your Dd1's name as well, so pretty!

kayzisexpecting · 22/10/2008 17:05

No I'm not going to be able to. She is only here Thursday mornings and I'm really really busy tomorrow. I will go and see the GP if it hurts anymore. But it has stopped hurting now.

Congrats to Wilson!!!

tinkisgoingtohaveapumpkin · 22/10/2008 17:06

glad midwife went well
sorry for spd

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 22/10/2008 17:32

Hello

Huge congrats to Wilson What a nice re-enterance to the thread?!! Sorry the move isn't proving to be easy, fingers crossed it won't take too much longer.

Diege, I am so pleased for you for the MS, just don't remember that I said that because if it gets loads worse you'll hate me!!

Ses, hope you'll be able to sort your car out soon, can imagine how worked up you'd have been by the time you got home, even on a short journey.

Tink, agree with Sorky, both lovely names, just not sure about them together, however, DS2 has an odd sounding middle name, but I don't think we've ever had to tell anyone it since he was registered! (His name is George John, John after someone in my family, both nice names in their own right, just don't seem to 'go together'!) Not sure if Bracken Willow sounds a bit too earthy, but if you like them then that is all that matters, you'll never find even one name that absolutely everybody could agree on! It is hard enough for the parents to agree on a name

Kay, ouch for your bum, I wouldn't have thought you'd need to panic about getting the MW/GP, unless the impact was with your belly, which it doesn't sound like it was. Obviously, any bleeding and/or pain get it checked, but it is far more likely to just be you that puts up with pain from it!

Have just got back from town - again - that is every day this week so far, and I will need to go in either tomorrow or Friday as well! Boys have had their hair cut, DS1 has had lines put in it I think he was more that I let him!! Must admit though, it suits him!

Right best go and face the oven and get their dinner out before it is charcoal! Have a good night everyone if I don't get back Congrats again to Wilson, it is great news xxx

SesHasapinkline · 22/10/2008 18:51

Hi all!

Wilson -
Fantastic!!!
Congrats!!!

tink - I'm afraid I join the camp where I like both names individually but not together. However if we all liked the same thing it would be a very boring world and it's not like I think it would be a huge problem or anything, just my personal preference!

Kay - ouch!! I fell down the stairs here a couple of weeks ago but basically slid down on my bum. Had a bruise the size of a tennis ball on one butt cheek for about 10 days but didn't feel as if I'd caused any serious damage as was all on my bum!

This work stuff is really getting in the way of MN
However... I have another week off next week!! Thought it would cover me for my scan and in case I need time afterwards because of work not knowing I'm pg...

I got a hire car in the end as it was the easiest way to feel safe and will have to sort my car out. Maybe next week...

I'm feeling a bit crap this evening. Can't quite put my finger on it - a bit sick and a bit light headed, so will take it easy I think.
Am definitely moving into pre-scan paranoia. Last time round with my 12 week scan I started to feel ill in the evenings and that ended in mmc so I'm hoping it's not the same thing. (Even as I type that, I know what you'll all say back so put it down to paranoia if you want!)

lardybump · 22/10/2008 19:30

evening everyone. Hope you are feeling better now kay.

Sorky ouch dont know anything about spd (dont even know what it stands for) but hope that it settles down soon..

Hi to everyone else. Boss called today and confirmed they will be paying my SMP so at least I will have some money coming in.... yay......

Really wish we all lived a bit closer together it would be lovely to have a meet up before the babies arrive......

sorkycake · 22/10/2008 23:29

LB it stands for 'symphysis pubic dysfunction' (means my pubic bone is separating) and 'SI' is sacro iliac meaning the crests of my hips are not stable (normally shouldn't move).
To sum up - it's hurty!

We've decided on Xanthe. I'd love a middle name, but nothing seems to go with it.
It fits our surname, which those of you who know me in RL will know is a bit odd, and more importantly is a name similar in style to Dd1's.

I also had lila, anouska and willow on my list.

Apart from parents, I've finished the Christmas shopping!

Why are mums/dads soooo hard to buy for, or is it just mine?

Ooh and I don't have to do Dinner for either Christmas or Boxing Day, we're invited to family...woohoo!
