Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 08:33

Morning!!!

Glad everything is ok Nat. Yay about painting the baby's room. Don't worry about last week. We like trying to help you out. Wouldn't be good wagon-waddler's if we didn't

Gyo, I really want to try Wagamamas, not one too near here though. I think Leeds is the nearest one to us.

I am tempted to paint the baby's room red instead of blue as DS's room is going to be blue.

off now till later to take dd to nursery them my mum is over today we are going to look in town she wants to get baby an outfit

kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 08:48

I need help with car seats. What do you think of this one? We both like it and it'll last until he is about 4. We don't have huge amounts of money to spend, but I am feeling a bit dubious about it being too cheap and therefore crap. It does have good reviews though.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 09:12

I take it Wagamamas is some sort of eatery place? Have never heard of it

kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 09:17

It'll only be used in mums car unless by some miracle one of us actually passes our test.
I love the maxicosi but DH has put his foot down as it costs too much

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 09:23

Have you looked around? MC and Toys 'r' Us have it for just over £100, but some places (especially if you can find last years colours (like it matters?!!)) do them from about £85-ish - I think.

Can you not get round DH with the whole safety thing? I think the Britax seats all measure up to Maxicosi safety wise and are slightly cheaper, but they aren't quite as versatile in different cars.

Another option, but long winded, I think I have seen somewhere the Quinny Zapp and the Maxicosi seat in a package for about £160, you could sell the Zapp on for around £100, would make the seat itself cheaper, but obviously there is no garentees you'd sell the buggy.

I don't know what else to suggest because I know fuck all about different seats!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 09:30

Here - ex-display, but you can't argue with the price.

Or here brand spanking new.

kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 09:32

Oh I might have to show him those.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 09:37

If you search on eBay, there are some re-con ones, from about £50 I think, but I don't know if you'd be happy with that or not.

For an extra £20/£30 I'd try and get round DH personally, tell him you'll give up take aways or something to save the £30! (I did say tell him, not actually to do it!! )

kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 09:42

I could do that. I could give up takeaways to get that car seat!!

Diege · 20/10/2008 09:45

Morning . Glad to see you back, and well too NAT . I think your nearest wagamamas is in Manchester - def worth a visit! I think we must have it as our offical wagon eatery (the wag-a bit . Nice and child friendly too and kids menu is fab.
Glad you enjoyed it GYO! Hope you manage to fit in some mumsnetting today .
TINKS - great that you're going to NCT sale on your own - it is a massive advantage not having buggy to push around - you'll be able to elbow past and grab all the bargains
KAYZ, cat seat looks good to me, esp as it's had good reviews. Worth having a check of other bargains too as NAT says
Morning to everyone else - will have to walk up to drs (good 40mins all up hill) as bleedin buses are on the hour and appointment at 11 . At least all downhill on way back!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 09:52

Next time we're heading in Manchester direction I'll look it up! Always trying to find nice places to eat with the kids, we always end up at either Wacky crappy Warehouse (or similar) or awful cafes you can't even fit the buggy through.

Right phone will be charged enough now, so I am off, I have the oddest list of stuff to get, I am sure I am going to forget most of it.

See you all later xxx

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 09:52

Oh oh oh, how could I forget? Good luck at the docs Diege

kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 10:04

Good luck Diege!!!

Have fun shopping Nat!!

Diege · 20/10/2008 12:13

Back from GPs. Saw the usual dithery locum, and he's referred me to gynae for appointment and possible scan. Thought I'd get a direct referral to EPU for early scan, but apparently as I've had 3 healthy pregnancies before mc I may not be deemed in sufficient need . He's sent it through as urgent, so we'll see what comes of it...
Pleased that I've at least passed the first milestone, of what I'm sure will be a very long, stressful and tiring journey!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 12:23

Sadly, that seems to be the case everywhere Diege, I had to fight even when I had started bleeding to get a scan with this one. Fingers crossed something comes of it though, and that you'll find out soon. Maybe having a private scan would be an option if they turn it down?

If it helps any, a lot of my worries about MC'ing again went after the 12 week scan (probably helped by the fact I was actually 13 and a half weeks by then, so felt way out of the danger zone). And again at the 20 week scan I felt very comfortable after. TBH the last week has had me back on edge again but not because of the previous MC.

I've been to town, I don't think I forgot anything, I didn't get some photo frames (for the school pics) because I forgot to check the sizes properly, and I wanted some casual comfy shoes that stretch because I can not get my shoes on (hence the pathetic howling to DH at the weekend about having to wear my flip flops again!) but couldn't find what I'm after, might go into Blackburn later in the week and see if I can find something there. Other than those two things I think I got all of the oddities - not bad for me!

Diege · 20/10/2008 13:01

Yes I think I would book the private scan NAT if no joy through NHS, and told GP as such. He does agree with me that I need a scan, and has said to get in touch if I have no joy by 8 weeks . On the other hand he says that they may actually ask to see me in the next few weeks, which I would be a bit about. I certainly don't want to get into the situation where I'm going for scans every week to hunt the heartbeat!
Feeling a bit bleughh actually. Not nauseaus as such, just not quite right and my mouth keeps on filling with horrible metally saliva. Would 5 weeks be too early for the sickness to start do you think?
Oh and NAT on foorwear front, how about a pair of ugg-type boots? Really comfy and good for after the birth too?

Heebeejeebee · 20/10/2008 13:25

Found you all!!!

Diege, in response to your question aaaaages ago (had my mum visiting which has meant i can't mumsnet been great), the gp gave me an edd of 22 June - is that about the same time as you?

I also told him that the EP midwife had said after the m/c that she would see me early for blood tests etc. I noticed he wrote on the form "wants to see EP midwife"

I'd like a scan about 8 weeks, as I had one at 7 last time and it all went wrong after that..

NJ - ugg-type boots would be soo comfy and warm!

Diege · 20/10/2008 14:57

Hi HEEBS!!! Yay we have the same due-date Not that I have ever reached my due date with any of the dds - dd1 5 days early, dd2 5 days early, dd3 6 days early...
How are you feeling at the moment?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 15:33

Diege, that is the problem I had with requesting an early scan (which I didn't have to do because of the bleed) because I knew even if we got one and had seen the HB and everything was fine, the next day you are back to square one again because you don't know what's gone on since the scan IYKWIM? It is very difficult to call. I think the sickness can start at any point, mine started even before the BFP, then went away and then came back till about 20 weeks, now it is only when I can smell heat (the oven, my hair straighteners, etc.).

Hiya Heebee Another one due on my birthday I see Must be a good day for having babies!!

Ugg boots, I have had some before, loved them, but they were recked by the rain, and I don't think even they'd be roomy enough inside. Plus, I don't need anything quite as warm as them, I am still absolutely boiling all the time, and unless it's raining, flip flops and no coat is the order of the day for me! T'is just the bloody rain that ruins it!

GYo · 20/10/2008 15:41

Hello
Glad all ok at docs Diege. Hope they can sort out a scan for you or you can get one yourself. Maybe its worth getting one at 7/8wks when you know a HB will be present.

I know I've not had the MMC trauma but I agree with NJ re scan providing peace of mind for a short period and then you are back to wondering. Felt similarly after my bleed, then scan at 6wks, went back at 8wks - felt great to see HB then week later was worried again!

Work manic as predicted- so disappointingly little time to MN!

Re Uggs- agree about them makign you hot. But size wise Ive got some non brand UGGs and they dont have the thick furry lining
which makes them better. But still hot!

Hi Heebs, Kay :-)

Not sure on any car seat advice- other than it seems sensible to get something 0-4yrs if budget is issue. Maxicosi is good but expensive option especially as it only lasts 9months or so. Might be worth going in and talking to sales people in mothercare or halfords about it?

kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 15:55

Yay we have keys!!!

Been doing some measuring of rooms for carpets etc.

Mum is popping round to the house later to have a look. It has no electric despite the company saying the electric isn't switched off so thats DH's first job in the morning.

Diege, I'm glad the doc's was ok. I would try and push for a scan if thats what you would like. I had to really push to get one when I was bleeding but once I saw the heartbeat I stopped panicing.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/10/2008 16:00

Hiya GYo

Yes, the furry lining, had forgotten about that, I don't generally get smelly feet, but boy did they make my feet smell! LOL

Kay, HOORAY for the keys When are you going to be moving in?

Have you spotted the scary faces???

kayzisexpecting · 20/10/2008 16:03

Hopefully this weekend but we have to be out of this flat by the 31st so we can move a lot of smaller stuff this week and then move all the heavy stuff this weekend.

I love the new faces
