GYo · 20/08/2008 17:03

thats sounds awfully whiney

Im just feeling bad about letting peoplpe down and fed up of being so tired.

GYo · 20/08/2008 19:58

ignore me, was having a funny moment....

calsworld · 20/08/2008 20:22

GYo, actually I'm not struggling so much now as I was a couple of weeks ago - but it does all get better...

Last pg I told all my friends at 7 weeks - we were on a piss up long weekend to Warsaw so it was blatantly obvious! Not only was I unable to drink, I couldn't face food and after walking around sight seeing all day I was exhausted and spent all the evenings sleeping in the hotel room whilst DH and my other mates got utterly shit faced wasted in the bar. In my defence it was a five star and it was THE most comfortable bed I've ever slept in - they had signs about how comfy they were in the lobby - they put 7 sheets that you sleep on to get the comfort!!!! Anyhoo it was just all so much easier to tell people.

DH is being really funny this time around and not wanting me to tell people till much later - I think its got a lot to do with reading about MMC and scan's that go wrong which is a bit sad. I'd be perfectly happy to tell people!

calsworld · 20/08/2008 20:25

GYo....that heap of waffle was my attempt at sympathy .

GYo · 20/08/2008 20:41

thanks Cals.... not waffle at all...

I just keep hanging to the scan in 2wks then I can tell people and hopefully I will feel less tired soon too!

bed soon!

GYo · 21/08/2008 09:54

Cosmo- are you around - how are you feeling?

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/08/2008 10:35

Morning everyone,

GYo - I understand exactly what you mean, I am very anti-sociable at the moment. It takes all my energy to get through the day, none left for evening socialising!

Cosmo - thiking of you if your lurking too.

Cal - how you feeling? Still avoiding too much sickness?

GYo · 21/08/2008 10:38

Hi Playing

Glad its not just me... but hoping it passes for all of us soon.

Are you past sickness now?

Kalikaroo · 21/08/2008 10:57

Hi everyone - sorry I've not posted for ages.

Feeling like death warmed up at the moment

Had a few ups and downs so far - bleeding etc. but I'm seeing the midwife for the first time on sept 1st so hopefully everything is ok .

Soooooooooooooooooooooo knackered!

Now 8 weeks and 4 days, but still to get a definite due date from midwife.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/08/2008 11:02

Hi GYo - no, its not passed but it has eased. Only actually been sick twice in a week and the nausea is no longer constant, I can go a few hours without any now, not gone a whole day yet. So def improvement but still plenty of roon for more . Wish the tiredness would shift now too, oh well, can't have everything.

Kalikaroo - sorry you're struggling, it is really tough isn't it!?

Cosmogirl · 21/08/2008 12:55

Thanks guys. I'm still around, just feeling awful still and don't want to bore everyone with the details...I am trying all the tricks but nothing really helps - I think time is going to be the only healer.

Hope everyone is doing OK.

Nat - congrats on finding out it's a little boy!

calsworld · 21/08/2008 13:27

Hi all, sorry so many of you are suffering. I'm having the odd wave of nausea but I'm just snacking through them and so far, so good.

Cosmo - have you spoken to your MW about anti-emetics?

Kal, sorry to hear your news - thought you'd been a bit quiet, hope everything's OK.

Sorry to say, but don't get your hopes up about getting an accurate due date from the MW - they automatically assume (or at least most do) that you have a 28 day cycle and OV on day 14. In reality they rely on the scan for dating because it is so much more accurate. Hopefully you'll get yours sorted by the MW and won't have to wait for too much longer .

Only 13 days till I have mine and counting!

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/08/2008 13:33

Hi Cosmo, sorry you're sturggling but I suppose at 8 weeks its normal, I certainly was! Not that that really helps and it does feel great to moan . No amounts of tips could stop me being sick or feeling sick but I know I would have been more sick without them.

Eating regularly in particular has been so important and that includes a cracker/biscuits when I get up in the night and as soon as I wake up in the morning. The one day I didnt do the night/early morning snacks (cos I had run out) I was very nearly sick in the night and ended up running out of bed to be ill 30mins earlier than I normally get up, felt absolutely awful all day and had a dreadful nights sleep, which in turn doesnt help MS. Or the second I end up being called into a meeting thats more than 2 hours (so I can't eat) I really start to feel sick again. Makes me realise that my MS easily gets worse if I'm not careful. At my peak of being sick 3-4 times a day and feeling sick constantly, I am sure I could have doubled that if I hadn't been doing everything I could to help. So no, nothing you can do can stop it, only time, but others things do help reduce the severity.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/08/2008 13:35

Hi Cal - x posts. Glad you're not suffering too much.

GYo · 21/08/2008 14:02

I've just been for lunch with DH to Pizza Express (lovely change from sandwich at my desk!)

Had a salad with goats cheese in it, was about to eat when I wondered if the cheese might not be pasteurised. Turned out that it wasnt- we asked why it wasnt on the menu as unpasteurised and they said they didnt know.

Fortunately manager was very kind pregnant lady so she re-made the salad with mozzarella in it that was pasteurised!

Just goes to show- always worth asking.

Was yum all the same

calsworld · 21/08/2008 18:47

GYo - was very disappointed to find out that its not pasteurised - I love warm goats cheese salad! DH keeps drinking beer / gin and tonic and eating brie .

Last time he made me a 'first supper' (post natal) of prawn cocktail, rare steak and chips, followed by cheese and biscuits. mmmmmmmmmmm. all washed down with just one glass of red wine (as breastfeeding)! Only 9 weeks in and already looking forward to it!

Wish Kay was about, she could tell me where to get her alcohol free cider from.

Had a few more quite queasy patches today, munched my way through them which helped a bit, even though I didn't really enjoy eating. It does seem to be getting a bit worse at the moment which I wonder could be as I'm quite tired at the moment - hopefully we'll be able to have a bit of a lie-in this weekend as we're going to visit my mum.

Had a pretty intense day at work today, but budget is much closer to being finished, thank goodness!

Cosmo, please keep posting, it helps to moan - its a really hard time and can feel quite isolated, particularly when people around you really can't imagine what it actually feels like to feel so crap day after day.

Playing, sounds like you're managing really well. Meetings are a bugger aren't they! The only tip I've got is to excuse yourself for a 'natural break' and have snacks stashed in your handbag that you can scoff in the loo - not very classy, but better than vomit!!! When I was pg before, one of the secretaries was too and she'd always make sure there was a plate of rich tea in front of my seat! No such luxuries these days, cut backs mean not only no biscuits, but no secretaries either !

Kal, if you're about, hope everythings still OK.

Gruff - how are you doing? Has everything calmed down?

GYo · 22/08/2008 08:42

Cals - your first supper sounds fab. Might hint about that to DH, since he is the king of picnics!

Hope you have a good weekend and dont feel too poorly. Im sure rest will definately help out.

how is everyone else today? anyone doing anything fun for BH w/e?

Im off work today and tuesday so hoping to catch up a bit on rest as this week has been a struggle. Was reading that week 10 is a peak of all of the hormones etc so im hoping that it will pass soon.

Also taking DH out tomorrow as its his bday today so excited to have a slightly normal life and not just a sleep/work/eat routine!

calsworld · 22/08/2008 13:28

I'm really tired today, I've found the mornings increasingly difficult this week. Normally DH gets up and goes in the shower and I get DS up, but we've all been over-sleeping and DH has been getting DS out of cot, changing his nappy, then dropping him into bed with me and putting the telly on . I've been coming round to the sounds of Bob the Builder most days this week! DS has been lovely though and snuggled into bed till I'm awake enough to get him dressed. Then DH takes him to nursery so mornings are quite easy really.

I need to get more organised on the snack front, cupboards have been a bit bare and my purse has had no cash so been short to get food whilst I'm out too which is just rubbish.

Next week I'll have my stocks sorted .

Today I'm working from home and one of my colleagues was here this morning to get some bits done as there's just been too many distractions in the office and we keep postphoning each other. I made porridge for breakfast for us both! YUM!

I was looking at slow cookers yesterday as MKG on the March thread suggested they can really help out when you have young DC's. I've found one that is a normal slow cooker, but does rice but even more excitingly, porridge as well! Reckon that's going on my Christmas list!!

Quiet in here today....

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 22/08/2008 18:11

Hello

Just popping on quickly to say have a lovely BH weekend everyone, mum's delayed and won't be in till 7.50 now, so we have a bit of a breather before the fun starts! Thought I'd pop on and say hello and goodbye!

xxx

lardybump · 22/08/2008 18:19

I keep forgetting about this thread.... I am pleased to say my sickness has gone... yay to that..... Sorry for those still bad but it will get better........

I am the size of a bus now and eating for 6 so only going to get bigger....

GruffaloSoldier · 22/08/2008 19:44

bleughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

GYo · 25/08/2008 19:42

Wow quiet on here!

How is everyone? Sorry you are still rough gruffalo

After feeling fairly ok for the first 9wks of being pregnant, the last couple of weeks I've been so so so tired, really getting bored of it. DH is too!

Roll 1.5wks to the 12wk scan.

I'm 11wks tomorrow

GruffaloSoldier · 25/08/2008 23:53

Tis very quiet!

Wow Gyo - you must be so excited! And so lucky to escape sickness!Mine is with me from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. Sickness bands must be working though as have been feeling better tonight.

11 weeks is great. 4 weeks ahead of me too, thats not much!We will def have to meet up with LO's!

Drove through Ash the other day actually and thought of you!

calsworld · 26/08/2008 08:55

Gruffalo, your multi coloured kiddy wrist bands made me laugh!! Hope they do work for you, I found mine helpful last time around. I just can't get my head round how much better I am this time and that as a result, I can't possibly be pregnant....it really is very very different.

I'm looking forward to the scan so that I can either get peace of mind or find out that there's nothing there so I can move on to the next stage, IYSWIM. I just don't feel pregnant like I did last time.

Although I do wonder if it is in part because last time we'd told everyone by now as I was on holiday and I got rumbled, and so was able to talk publicly which helped with making me 'feel' pregnant.

Right, ought to get my work laptop cranked up....I'm running really late . I'll have to work late at this rate

calsworld · 28/08/2008 14:08

Hi guys, as you've probably seen, I'm not in the running for a spring babe anymore.

Next time the list gets updated, which isn't very often over here, can someone take me off? I'm not sensitive about it - just can't be arsed I'm afraid. Feel like I've done enough 'sorting' out for now.

Off to stuff my face with chocolate
