OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooooh... cals- i had exactly the same MS with DS- sick even the day after having him!!

I wasn't given any helpful advice really... really wish i had as it may have stopped me being hospitalised.

Hope you find a cure cosmo... or at least that it eases for you after the 'normal' 12-16 weeks.

calsworld · 19/08/2008 12:24

Also, can I have a boast?

When I had my MW appt I deliberately didn't wee before as thought she might want a sample - she did.

Why they only give you a silly little tube to aim into I don't know but anyhooo off I went with specific instructions to wee in the toilet first, then in the tube then the rest down the loo.

What a target! What pelvic floor muscles! What a star! Not one drop where it wasn't supposed to be!

(Bet I can't do that again!)

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/08/2008 12:29

LOL cals!!! i really am laughing!! bragging about your weeing aim!!

mine are so bad since having the kids!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/08/2008 12:30

PMSL (or is that too apt for this situation?)

calsworld · 19/08/2008 12:30

Glaskham , crap isn't it! Am very grateful to be feeling better this time round but having a few wobbly moments when I get too cocky and don't eat on time!!

My last vomit with DS was on the delivery table but that was more to do with the pethidine, epidural combination (I always chunder on codeine related drugs) and DH said they were practically punching me in the tummy whilst trying to get DS out! He said keeping food down would have been a physical impossibility. Thank goodness for anaesthetics and green curtains!!

I had to run downstairs for brekkie this morning but am keeping a closer eye on it now!

I feel all bubbly and excited and want to open all the windows and shout "I'm having a baby" and I don't want to do any work and I want to sleep lots and I want to de-clutter my house and I want to go on holiday and I want a bump, that wiggles!

Like I said, I'm a bit excited.

GYo · 19/08/2008 12:31

OOh funny you should be talking about that, was going to ask if MW collects wee at same time as bloods?

Assume I will need to hold it....

Playingthe9monthwait · 19/08/2008 12:31

I would def second regularly eating little and often, it helps with energy as well as sickness. It really does help even if you don't think you can face it at the time, even if its just a case of having something in your stomach to be sick with, its much better than an empty stomach. I eat my lunch over the entire day at work and its packed with small bits of things, a buttered piece of malt loaf, some carrots sticks, a ceral bar, a cake slice, an apple etc etc. Things that are small but not that filling as I really cannot eat much in one go. I also cut my sanies into 4 triangles as I can often only stomach a 1/4 at a time. Oh and a tip, celery sticks are bad, they are not nice when they come up again .

Playingthe9monthwait · 19/08/2008 12:32

God, I took so long to post that I missed loads of posts!!!! Cal you just made me PMSL.

calsworld · 19/08/2008 12:32

x-posted.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/08/2008 12:34

Playing, Celery sticks are always bad, coming up or going down, makes no odds, they should be lined up in a row and shot

calsworld · 19/08/2008 12:35

Playing - good post re having something to be sick with! Your lunchbox sounds good. I had malt loaf yesterday too....and hula hoops....and an egg sandwich....and a belgian waffle....and oh, hang on! there's a double decker in my handbag that I didn't eat! YAY! Back soon.....

calsworld · 19/08/2008 12:36

LOL at celery shoot out! I'll join you for that Nat!

Playingthe9monthwait · 19/08/2008 12:37

I love celery (ok I am weird), it is my friend, you can munch on it and be healthy or fill it ful of bousin and be unhealhty. yum. But its too stringy when you are being sick .

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/08/2008 12:37

Celery just has to be the most pointless thing on the whole planet, even those little black thunder fly things have more meaning to them.

Bet they taste better as well.

Playingthe9monthwait · 19/08/2008 12:40

Ah no, proper celery tastes great. That tasteless crap most supermarkets sell is not so good but home grown stuff is lovely/proper organic stuff. And the leaves are lovely in salad. I'm growing loads in my garden, the difference in taste is amazing.

GYo · 19/08/2008 12:40

pmsl re celery debate.

used to eat loads of it but gone off it recently. definately the stringyness.

euwwww- doesnt appeal at the moment.

GYo · 19/08/2008 12:41

ooh playing, sounds good. its the supermarket stuff that is often bitter that is enough to put you off.

I quite like it cooked.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/08/2008 12:43

No, it reminds me of my gran, I could never decide whether I loved picking her fruits and veg or not, the gooseberries were beautiful, the rhubarb the best ever, the celery.......

Not going to say what I was going to say for fear of sending all you poorly'uns running for the loo

Playingthe9monthwait · 19/08/2008 12:46

I know, I like this sort of debate. I actually feel like creating an AIBU thread "AIBU to think homegrown celery is so much nicer than supermarket stuff" or something just as ridiculous . Its a great debate

calsworld · 19/08/2008 12:54

The only point to celery is to use it to carry wadges of philadelphia to your mouth....

IMO

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/08/2008 12:56

YABU because it is all just bloody yuk!

Also IMO

Tee hee, your celery debate has made me laugh! I do normally like celery with hummous (sp?) or other dips, so I'm with Playing, but at the mo' it's a definite no-no.

Cosmo - if you're lurking, so positive news for you - I feel better today at 9+1 - have wondered this morning whether that's a bad sign (someone please slap me ), but although I feel nauseous still today, I haven't even nearly thrown up all day (fatal last words?)!

Finally found something I can drink (normally I drink water and herbal teas with the odd coffee, but haven't been able to stomach any of them and was worried about getting dehydrated, but started drinking chocolate soya milk last night and it seems to be working a treat!

Cals - glad to hear mw appt went well, especially after your experience last time. I saw mw yesterday too and she was really nice and fingers crossed will be my midwife all the way through this time. Confused me though - my LMP was 16 June 2008, which was 9 weeks ago yesterday. I therefore thought I was 9 weeks yesterday, but she said I was 8 weeks - anyone help me with this? Do you think she miscalculated? She still has my due date the same - 23 March 2009.
Am jealous of your scan date already Cals. I have to ring up next week to book a date, so you can guarantee it will be another couple of weeks after that!

Right, should be working. Hope you're all having a nice day.

calsworld · 19/08/2008 15:49

Starshine, I agree with you - LMP of 16 June does make you 9 weeks, thats odd. I'd check it with her next time you go coz it does look like she might have miscalculated.

Also, what would happen if you rang this week , you could always say you misunderstood if they say its too early but you never know, it might just get you to the front of the queue??

My MW rang during the booking in appt so she can check its OK with us at time of booking, I like it being done like that.

GYo · 20/08/2008 16:52

Hi
Anyone else having a hard time dealing with social stuff while feeling pants?

Had to cancel a dinner with a friend tonight (who isnt close enough to tell that im PG )as Im so tired I might slide off chair. Also feeling sick this week so just cant face it....

Also been invited for drinks with work people that I just dont think I can go to as it means getting home so late i will be too tired tomorrow.

I know Im being pathetic- wondered how others have dealt with this issue.

Hard to keep lying about reasons for not drinking and doing stuff.
