I. Hate. Feeling. Like. This.

Have had all day nausea now for nearly 2 weeks....I am really not coping with it......I don't even get a day, or a minute of the day where I don't feel sick. Am seeing the midwife tomorrow and might ask if there is anything she can give me.....I don't think I can live like this for much longer. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Cosmogirl · 16/08/2008 10:36

Sorry I know I must sound like a broken record, and I am sure it will pass at some stage - but this just absolutely sucks all the joy out of being pregnant, not to mention life in general....

calsworld · 16/08/2008 17:19

Oh Cosmo - I DO know how you feel, I promise and even if it doesn't go away it will definitley get better.

Keep trying to eat as much as you can, it really is the best cure. Don't worry about trying to get a 'balanced diet', just focus on eating whatever you can to give you energy and stop you feeling too ill.

A good idea to speak to the MW, hope she's more useful than mine were - which was to eat ginger biscuits and that was it!

How far along are you now?

With the approach of my MW appt on Monday I'm getting more and more concerned that everything is OK...but only coz i've just not really had any symptoms.

I know every pregnancy is different, I'm just getting a bit nervous whilst trying to tell myself that everything will be fine!

Starshinetiger · 16/08/2008 18:39

Hi All, Cosmo, I really sympathise. I feel so much the same that I've already told DH, Mum & Sis that this will be the last child/grandchild/niece/nephew from this quarter. DH is doing everything and the house hasn't been cleaned for weeks except the hoovering he's done, but I'm holding on to feeling better in the next few weeks. Yesterday was the worst - was wretching and being sick all day. But, this morning I managed to take DS into town (albeit we did go into John Lewis coffee shop for a rest midway round and we were only out for 2 hours ), then I had a short nap while he did after lunch. Am 9 weeks now, so hoping this is the peak and it will get better.
It will get better Cosmo, 'cos it did for me last time and if you don't feel totally better at 12 weeks, then don't worry, as I didn't feel totally better until 16 weeks, so it will eventually pass. I know we went on holiday when I was 19 weeks last time and I felt totally fine (if a little annoyed that i just looked like I had put on weight, not pg )
GYo, I know what you mean about shopping, I have seen some lovely maternity stuff in sale, but daren't buy anything until I have my scan.
For DS, we were given changing unit, cot, travel system, which was really great, but I know I want to buy a new travel system this time round - Lovely as it was of my SIL to give us hers, I really want to get one that is more modern.
Anyway, it's taken me about 2 hours to post this, so I've probably missed a chunk of chat and had better start thinking about DS' bath, as DH is at work to 1am tonight.

Cosmogirl · 16/08/2008 19:09

Thanks Cals and Star. I just keep going through moments of thinking 'I can't handle feeling like this'!

I am 7+4 I think Cals. Despite feeling sick I am also worried that everything is going OK - I think we worry if we have symptoms and we worry if we don't. Still seems such a long way until the scan too....

Star - sorry to hear you felt so sick yesterday. I definitely feel like my sickness is getting stronger at the moment, but like you, am hoping it will start slowing down at 9 weeks. And, I know how you feel with the house work. Managed a bit downstairs today but our bedroom and ensuite looks an absolute state!

Annoying neighbours are playing really loud music. I am in bed watching a film and can hear it over my movie even though the windows are closed.... inconsiderate arses......

Cosmogirl · 17/08/2008 19:03

Had booking appt with midwife today. All went ok. Will find out tomorrow if I got into the hospital I wanted. It is in a different county so won't get in automatically.

Had bloods taken and surprised myself by being very brave. I even went as far to say that I'd rather have a needle stuck in my arm everyday than experience nausea...shame there's not an option!

How's everyone else doing?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 18/08/2008 07:59

Morning

Poor Cosmo Really hope you start to feel better sooner rather than later, hoorah for booking in though, makes it all seem official

I am 20+2 today I'm over half way, I'm over half way

I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday morning, I am looking forward to it, still find the whole thing really really creepy, but I am looking forward to seeing the baby is OK and then finding out the sex It is the first time I haven't gone in already knowing that it was a boy, I know it still probably is, but for the first time ever I feel like it could be a girl, just adds an element of surprise to it all

GYo · 18/08/2008 09:08

Morning all

Sorry you are still so poorly Cosmo. Wish there was something we can do. Like Nat says at least the booking in makes it all official now so time will start to move on and hopefully you might start feeling a bit better.

ooh great news Nat about being half way Wonder if the 2nd half goes faster than the first half....

So exciting about the 20 week scan too. The whole thing about finding out the sex is exciting, especially since you arent sure yourself... cant wait to hear how it goes and see the pic!

I am feeling quite proud of myself- went out on sat, went into baby shops, bought some maternity clothes that dont look like maternity, long cardis etc that I need anyway for the winter so I can wear them before there is a big bump. Also ventured into Mothercare for a browse! Wow what a lot of stuff- it was full of frantic looking couples trynig to choose pushchairs etc.

Also browsed online Mamas and Papas and ordered some catalogues.

DH seems quite relieved Im being a bit more proactive!

10weeks tomorrow

Starshinetiger · 18/08/2008 09:12

Cosmo - yay for booking in appointment. Mine is today - at surgery with midwife. Fingers crossed she's nice and I get the same midwife throughout this time .
NJ - 20+2 wow!! That's fantastic. How exciting to have your scan this week. I just looked at my calendar - I get to 20 weeks in first week of November - it seems ages away!
I'm currently trying to debate whether I will be well enough to go on a hen weekend on last weekend of August. This weekend I decided definitely not, but still clinging onto the possibility that, as I'll be 10 + 4, I'll be feeling better (ever the optimist). Have lost about 1/2 a stone so far this pregnancy (I could afford to lose it ), but my tummy is growing nicely!!
Right, supposed to be working right now - working from home this am, prior to my appointment.
Cosmo, hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Starshinetiger · 18/08/2008 09:15

Crossed posts GYo, 10 weeks tomorrow - doesn't time fly. Shopping sounds like fun.

GYo · 18/08/2008 09:18

Morning Star

Cosmogirl · 18/08/2008 14:10

Hi,

Congrats on halfway Nat - I am very . Not that I'm wishing the weeks away or anything .

Thanks for the good wishes ladies. Fraid there's still been no improvement I started a thread in pregnancy re: when did peoples' MS end. Wish I hadn't bothered....someone has posted 42 weeks! 42 weeks?! How is that meant to make anyone low with sickness feel better?.....others said 15/20 weeks etc...so feel more depressed now than before I started the stupid thread.

[Playing, if you're reading - thanks for responding to the thread - your response was fine. Just don't get why some people take such pleasure in telling others that they had sickness for 9 months]

GYo · 18/08/2008 14:20

Cosmo
have you thought about trying that CD of music that is supposed to help?

No idea if it works but might be worth trying

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 18/08/2008 14:52

GYo, second half goes much slower than the first half, well it did with DS2 anyway, and if my uterus is starting on the same road, I can see it taking at least 6 years to get to January!

Cosmo, wish there was a magic button for switching it off, there isn't much you can do though when all the usual tricks don't work is there?

Star, if you can manage to go on the hen weekend, do it! Good chance to let your hair down I reckon

GYo · 18/08/2008 15:13

OMG slower???????

think mine might start going backwards if any slower!!

Hope that the xmas run up will distract me!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 18/08/2008 15:16

Actually up to about 33/34 weeks it goes quick enough, but from then onwards it's just like trying to walk up a down escalator, you think you're getting somewhere, but then you realise you're not going anywhere fast.

Cosmogirl · 18/08/2008 17:28

Far too cynical for the CD I think ....

Just got home from work and managed to stop myself throwing up. Was extremely close, leaning over toilet etc...but somehow managed to do deep breathing and calm down. Just scoffed two crumpets with butter which will hopefully keep it at bay for an hour or two....Feel this is getting worse rather than better atm...

Also at second half going slower! Feels like I will never reach 12 weeks right now...

GYo · 19/08/2008 08:49

Morning Pregnant Wagon-ers.

How is everyone today?

Cosmogirl · 19/08/2008 09:00

Morning GYo - 8 weeks today! Means I am getting closer to the end of this horrible trimester!! Thought for a minute when I woke up that I wasn't feeling nauseous, but wasn't to be..... I am working from home today, despite my boss raising eyebrows yesterday about it. He is a complete arse so I just thought, to hell with it, I will work from home anyway!

How are you? Must be excited to be 10 weeks! Do you have a scan date yet?

GYo · 19/08/2008 09:08

Morning Cosmo

Pah to your boss- does he know you are up the duff? Mine is shite re working from home despite there being no need for me to be in the office most of the time- all control freaks!

Hope you have a goodish day feeling sickwise. Least you have have a lunchtime snooze!

How are you apart from the nausea- are you tired?

Im good thanks although have been feeling more sick/ tired in last 3 days than ever before- just when I thought it was getting better! I wont moan as its bearable, just annoying. Scan date is Fri 5th september- so 2 wks on Friday.

Im seeing the MW tomorrow for the blood tests so things are moving along.

Cosmogirl · 19/08/2008 10:10

Hi,

Yeah my boss knows and when I told him he was very good about it. Then, yesterday, he was just being a complete arse about it and was asking questions like whether I would return after maternity etc....completely inappropriate questions at this early stage....tsk!

Tiredness hasn't been too bad. I have been going to bed very early though and fall asleep very quickly. The biggest symptom by far for me has been the all-consuming nausea.

Great news about your scan date. Can't wait to get mine through. The MW called yesterday to say the hosp I want to go to is accepting bookings for April, so Drs are supposed to be doing the referral. Hopefully once they've done that I will get the letter about the scan.

Had my bloods done on Sunday. Am not keen on needles, but surprised myself, was not bad at all. Felt very tired afterwards though and ended up having an afternoon nap for 2 hours

Playingthe9monthwait · 19/08/2008 10:21

Morning all, not really been posting much as work is pretty darn busy.

Couldn't ignore Cosmo's MS post though, you really sound like you are struggling! I agree its not helpful when people post "oh I had it all pg". You are well aware that sometimes this happens, but is quite rare. Positive stories all the way! I can't pretend the MS has gone but it has def been better the past week, so things are moving in the right direction.

Could still sleep for England though . Think getting rid of my car was not such a smart move and probably isn't helping. Yes I know the idea was to get more exercise and cut down on our outgoings but its been much harder than I expected. I know its only a mile to work but walking 2 miles a day when you are not used to it and feeling pretty ropey is not a good plan! I know, 2 miles in nothing, but it 2 miles more than I am used to walking! Think I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a cheap run around, anything to make life a bit easier right now.

Good luck with your bloods GYo - the scan will some round pretty quickly now. Got mine next week, can't wait, hope everything is ok with my bean!

Nat - can't believe you're over half way now!

Cosmogirl · 19/08/2008 10:43

Hi Playing,

Pleased to hear you sound like you are improving on the MS front. Being only 8 weeks, I am a bit concerned that things might start to reach their peak soon...

Can totally understand your car situation. I left work at 5 yesterday and because I drive, I was home by 5 past [couple of miles] then I was nearly sick. If I had walked the 20-25 minutes I don't know if I wouldn't have had to be sick on route....not pleasant!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/08/2008 10:50

just been forgetting to check in here too- not used to two wagons yet!!

hope your all well... i'm not having many symptoms other than bruised feeling around my middle and heartburn which i'm assured are all normal... I haven't phoned the GP yet as we want to leave it till we're 6wks then its another week or so till our app, then only 4 or so wks till our first scan, even it out a bit so it doesn't feel like months between seeing GP and midwife and having scan...

calsworld · 19/08/2008 12:19

Cosmo, sorry you're not hearing what you want to hear re morning sickness passing away. When I say I had MS all the way through to 38 weeks I'm certainly not boasting or trying to make people feel bad, I'm just trying to highlight that sometimes it doesn't end at 12 weeks.

I think you would benefit from changing your eating habits - so perhaps you could try not to be in the position where you have to 'scoff two crumpets' when you only left the office 5 minutes prior...perhaps try keeping snacks in your drawer at work.

You also mention that this would last you 'a couple of hours' but I think you should be eating something every 20 minutes when Morning Sickness is as bad as yours is. I was given this advice but ignored it, to my own detriment. Again, fruit and crackers or just a single slice of toast is fine for this, it doesn't have to be high cal/high fat if you're worried about weight gain.

Have you tried this? I really hope you can find something to help as it would be such a shame if you spent your whole pregnancy feeling ill and wishing it away - its such an amazing time - and something you've been working hard to achieve for a long time too!

I haven't looked on the other thread you've started - has anyone offered any more tips? If not, perhaps another thread asking for MS tips would be useful for you and many others??

Sorry if you think I'm intruding - I'm just passionate about it as its something that I felt I could have managed loads better if i'd had the right information available
