Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bubbaz · 26/05/2008 11:01

Chocolategal I'm also an non tea/coffee drinker save the odd weak tea and I usually have at least one coke per day. I drank gallons of t in my pg with DS and he is perfectly fine so I wouldn't worry too much as long as its not your only drink.
lolabella no he hasn't even answered DHs phonecalls as yet. He was apparently not in a good state yesterday which is fair enough but the morning is nearly over and still no apology or offer of a replacement! I'm getting madder!

dozymare · 26/05/2008 11:39

Morning All - eventful weekend eh! It is pouring with rain down south and I have just woken up to an empty house! DH has thoughtful taken the kids to a play centre so I can have some me time...bless him!

Bubbaz can't believe what happened with your buggy - can you perhaps contact the wife of the idiot and explain what happened? He sounds as if he was totally out of it and may not even remember? Otherwise, could you perhaps write them a letter? It is incredibly bad manners not to have contacted you which mwakes met hink that perhaps he was so out of it he wasn't evcen aware??? If he is aware and hasn't contacted you then my goodness girl, you don't need friends like that!

Does anyone know if dizzyness is a sign of GD? Hoping that Missdee reads this today as I keep getting dizzy spells which I didn't have in revious pregnancies. I remember reading a few days ago that someone was getting them whilst standing up coaching trampolining lessons, but I can't remember who! I am getting mine when I get up or stand up.........

Enjoy your day ladies!

DM x

dozymare · 26/05/2008 11:40

sorr forgot to add, I am also drinking 1 diet coke a day and about 4 cups of tea and 1 coffee.....dide the same with both DC and they are both fine!

twinklingfairy · 26/05/2008 12:00

Could just be your iron levels Dozy.
I know I got that way towards the end with DD and they gave me iron tablets for it.
Do you see white spots when you get up too quick, that was my tell tale sign.

Feeling slightly better today, no sickness since yesterday afternoon and I managed to get a good amount of food in me last night. But am sitting here now, nursing my fear of a rush trip to the loo.

DH apologised for being a poo, saying that he hates to see me so ill and it frustrates him that he can do nothing for me.
So, duh, start an argument, that'll help Men!

I drink Lukozade orange until it's coming out of my ears
But don't touch tea or coffee, even stopped the de-caff coffee cos I hear it has far more chemicals in it than norm coffee, that can't be good for baby?

ceebee74 · 26/05/2008 12:47

Bubbaz - I am shocked that your friend's DH has not been in touch That really is bad manners - if that was me, I would be mortified! Did your friend know he had done it? I mean, we are not talking about a £30 stroller here are we???

I have completely gone off tea and haven't had a cup for about 2 months nos, I don't drink coffee anyway, but I am having 2-3 cans of diet coke a day. I don't remember stopping with DS and, besides, it seems to help settle my stomach for some reason.

I am sorry some of you are still feeling rough but I wanted to share my good news - I feel FAB!! I realise this is probably only a temporary thing but I haven't felt sick for 2 days, have quite a lot of energy and feel almost normal!! Tis great!! I did my aerobics class for the third morning in a row today and had loads of energy for that.

x

cricri · 26/05/2008 13:30

Bubbbaz Hope your friend's DH gets in touch soon - that was totally out of order!
DM It was me who had a dizzy spell at trampolining after being stood up for too long. I also get them if I stand up too quickly after bending over. I've also been feeling really tired and I wondered if it might be my iron levels as twinkling said, although I haven't noticed spots in front of my eyes. I had my AN bloods done last Thursday so I may ring up about the results this week because my MW appt isn't until the following week.
Twinkling Glad your DH has apologised. A lot of men don't know how to express their feelings and do so by starting an argument - makes no sense does it!
Ceebee Glad you're feeling so well and hope it continues!
Lolabella Did you find anything on your shopping expedition?
Hello to everyone else!

MerryMarigold · 26/05/2008 17:48

Hi y'all. well it's slightly comforting to know that everyone else is having a bit of a pooey day too! always get expectations up for bank hol monday then dh is stressed/ moody, doing DIY, not helping out with ds, tells me he is not coming to my consultant appointment on wednesday so we have a HUGE row (probably brewing all weekend, but finally came to a head today). anyway, we both felt better after it was all out, although it was very unpleasant at the time and i spent a good hour crying my eyes out.

had a great evening last night though. went out for a friend's bday to the cinema and then nando's. got home after 12 midnight - oooooooooh, won't be doing that for a while - (after getting really lost due to someone being stabbed in EastHam...felt bad today that I was so grumpy about the whole road being shut and there is no other way to go without going backwards for miles).

caffeine...i went off coffee for first 3 months, but now have 1 decaff a day 'cos I just adore coffee. drank lots of full fat coke though in those nausea days, it really helped, in fact i craved it sometimes. and still drink some tea too, maybe one cup a day, and red bush tea.

bubbaz, i'm surprised they're not in touch about the buggy. personally i would not send a letter as the situation could escalate, but just have a 'good natured' word with your friend and mention the pushchair was expensive, and you have managed to find a replacement...if someone said that to me, I would be mortified and offer to pay the whole price immediately if it were my dh who had done that.

MerryMarigold · 26/05/2008 17:54

dozymare you lucky thing, what a great dh!

my dh is more along the lines of twinkling. i have always been a messy person, and am quite happy to live in a fair amount of mess. it really gets me when he won't let ds play with his toys because 'he'll make a mess'....ummmm...what are toys for then?! it is probably one of the most contentious issues in our marriage, because he also expects that as a stay at home mum, i am also the cleaner and cook (i don't mind being the cook, but i am not going to be the cleaner). we came to a compromise which is that he would take care of all hoovering. he has done it once since january! (i've done it a few times!!). anyway, it taught him that having a clean and tidy house doesn't just come with a snap of the fingers! also, we have designated our room as a 'sanctuary' and try our best to keep it nice so that when dh comes home he can go, get changed, get into 'home mood' and then come downstairs to the chaos! it's worked really well, and arguments over cleaning have been a lot less.

lackaDAISYcal · 26/05/2008 17:54

Everyone is obviously out enjoying the bank holiday. We have been titivating the garden a bit more and have also planted lots of veg this weekend so looking forward to my bumper crops in a few months.

Roca and dozy......get your iron levels checked. I have had chronic fatigue and dizzyness as well as feeling breathless, especially first thing in the morning, and my iron levels are in my boots. Tell-tale signs are pale gums and tongue, fingernails and insides of eyelids...as well as looking like death warmed up.

bubbaz, am that your friends are giving you the cold shoulder over the buggy.

I was drinking loads of diet coke when I was pregnant with DD, but was more worried about the aspartamine than the caffeine levels. I read somewhere that you'd have to drink 14+ cans a day before you were anywhere near going over recommended aspartamine levels. Not sure about the caffeine thing though. They are advised to avoid it in the US, but here I think the advice is it;s OK in moderation.

Just googled and got this from the babycentre website:

"Guidelines issued by the Food Standards Agency, the Department of Health and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommend that women have no more than 300mg of caffeine a day while pregnant. This is equivalent to three mugs of instant coffee or six cups of tea or eight cans of cola per day"

I think we can all rest easy

LolaBella · 26/05/2008 18:50

Cricri yes shopping went well - my dp commented that i'v never shopped so fast but then the range is not exactly huge!
Got some lovely things, i mainly needed trousers and jeans so ended up getting some from Topshop and Dorethy Perkins. Got some lovely white trousers and topshop do the different trouser lenghts too so i am now

Taking dp out for a meal tonight as it's his birthday but at the moment i am so hungry that it could be an expensive night

lol hana, that narrows it down

glad you had a good holiday and feel nice and relaxed. Wiat till a few years with DCs in tow......you need a holiday to recover from the holiday

Roca · 26/05/2008 22:38

Hanaflower - you can't seriously cll a little girl dozymare can you?!

Lost a long post ealier by clsing the application by accident...in short...

Lackadaisy - I think it could be iron - can my DR / nurse check for this as can't get into MW this week and off on hol next week. Steak for breaky for me then!

Anyone know if I can 'drop in' somewhere to check heartbeat as I should be seeing MW this week for 16wk check up but she booked and as am off I won't see her for ages - not heard heartbeat yet and would like to before hol.

lackaDAISYcal · 26/05/2008 22:45

your doctor should have your booking blood results on the computer system....or can you call your MW and get her to check for you? I'm sure she'd be ahppy to since you can;t see her. I didn't even have to see the GP for the iron tabs. I just told the receptionist that MW said I needed them and she organised the script for me.

alternatively you can get Spatone in Boots which is supposed to be a good supplement adn less harsh on the system than iron tabs. Taking folic acid and B12 help the body make more haemoglobin and vit C with a meal helps iron absorption if you want to try some self help measures. also avoid caffiene for an hour before/after eating.

not sure about hearing the HB. Do you know anyone who has a doppler?

Roca · 26/05/2008 22:49

thanks - I will try to call the MW - have only rang her through the surgery so don;t even have her number! Oops, I must get more organised. Am a little worried about self-diagnosis - although my inner eyelids are almost as white as my eye balls!

Will call ask the MW about hearing HB too and see what she says. I think I just put off making any calls with the kids as they always start climbing or getting biscuaits out the cupboard as soon as they see I'm distracted!

lackaDAISYcal · 26/05/2008 22:52

lol what is it about kids and telephones? mine start getting louder as soon as they hear me talking.

there should be a number for the community midwifery team in your notes (presuming you aren't waiting to get them at your next appointment) or your surgery should be able to give you the number.

Mine is usually very good about women calling, and the CMW team gave me her mobile number the last time I called.

Roca · 26/05/2008 22:57

typically I was picking up my notes at this weeks appointment which I left to late to make hence no appt, hence no notes, hence no phone numbers! Man, I am crap! Will call Dr's tomorrow to get numbers! I always seem to put sorting myself out last.

Thanks for advice.

chocolategal · 27/05/2008 10:17

lackaDAISYcal - thank you, i'll will carry on with my caffeine, i am nowhere near 8 cans a day!!!

bubbaz · 27/05/2008 10:33

Well my week is going from bad to worse and its only bl**dy Tuesday. Finally managed to contact said friend and he apologised profusely and offered to pay the full amount - Got a shock when DH told him it was £80 for a second hand one . Am still a little miffed that he didn't take the initiative to apologise himself though. Never mind Saga is over and we have an agreement!
However this morning on my way to work I crashed the car with DS in the back, I pulled out of a junction and hit a boy racer who came from nowhere - Said he flashed me out and I let him through then pulled out anyway - hmmmm I think not! - Police don't believe him though which is lucky or I could be looking at a Due care and attention charge on top of everything else. All the witnesses said he was speeding too. Still goes down as my fault though cause I was at the junction. Luckily DS is fine as my car is built like a tank and he was very happy that he got to sit in an ambulance - There was also 3 police cars and a fire engine which he loved - A little over the top I thought! I'm just waiting for the CMW to come and check me over to see that everything is OK, I got checked at the scene by the paranedics but they can't check the HB etc. DH is working an hour away and can't get back so had to call MIL and FIL to come and rescue me. It happened outside DSs nursery so he just went in there quite happy. I think I might have written the car off though and DH is NOT happy, It doesn't seem to have much damage but it is quite old so if there is anything internal we are screwed. I wanted a new car but this is a bit drastic!
So so sorry for the long post but I am at home on my own anxiosly awaiting the CMW and driving myself mad.
Roca hope you get yourself sorted.
Hanaflower glad you had a nice hol

MerryMarigold · 27/05/2008 10:41

bubbaz, oh no, that's really awful. don't know what to say...

except i hope everything is fine with you and the baby. glad you've got a tank like car!

glad the pushchair saga is over - and with no bad feelings. you can still be friends!

take care

cricri · 27/05/2008 11:07

bubbaz What an ordeal for you! Thank goodness DS is safe and saw it all as a big adventure. Hope the CMW gets to you soon and can reassure you by finding a hb. LO should be well cushioned in there so I'm sure all is well. Fingers crossed you haven't written the car off. I guess it will take a couple of days before you find out too. What a nightmare! Try to rest and relax as much as you can for the rest of the day...

bubbaz · 27/05/2008 11:28

Hi again, CMW has just been and LO is fine. I have spoken to Nursery and DS is also fine and is telling everyone that he has been in a nee naw this morning - bless him. I am going to chill now and put my feet up until the garage come to pick the car up.
Thankyou for your kind words x

mum2becks · 27/05/2008 11:32

bubbaz hope you are ok, I know exactly how you feel as I had a very similar accident when pregnant with dd, that was also a boy racer who ran into the back of me, but he admitted straight away that he wasnt looking where he was going as he was trying to see if his friend was in the beer garden that he was driving past!! I was 38 weeks pregnant at the time and worried about my bump as baby is a lot less cushioned once it is so big but all was fine and she was 4 days late so it didnt even trigger labour!!!

Hope mw arrives soon and puts your mind at rest, as long as you, ds and baby are ok your car will be sorted out dont worry. Have a nice restful day and take it easy.

mum2becks · 27/05/2008 11:33

sorry x posts, glad mw has been and all is ok

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 11:45

bubbaz, hope you aren't too shaken up by the experience and glad DS, baby and you are all OK. Your DH will be fine I'm sure. I wrote my sister's car off and her first reaction was to be a bit angry about it, but then she realised that I was more important than a cheap runabout and was fine about it.
