Our shiny new thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/06/2008 14:36

I bet that odd feeling is the baby- I'm sure you'll feel it soon.
I was around 20 weeks with DS and much earlier with DD; I was expecting to feel it sooner like with DD but not so - it must be different for each baby. DD felt much lower down the whole time, too. I think the position of the placenta will also make a difference.
Don't be sad, I'm sure it will be fine

juanitad · 05/06/2008 16:04

58% chance of a boy according to the predictor thing! So that could go either way really, as there must sill be a 42%chance of a girl! I don't really know what a boy shape is, but someone at my work told me that because my bump seems to be becoming a right across bump, rather than a sticks out to the front bump, it must be a boy. However, someone else at work told me the exact opposite, that an out to the front bump is a girl and a right across bump is a boy. So I have no clue really!! Don't know if I have a preference. I can imagine having a girl, but when I used to think about having kids, before it became a reality, I always imagined having a boy first. Will just keep on wondering until he/she decides to pop out!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/06/2008 16:24

Sounds like a very canny predictor thingy to me! Is it the one on Facebook? I'll give it a go..

I always saw myself as having two boys- Iwas very surprised to have one of each- I can't help thinking this will be my number two boy- not that I'm really fussed either way!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/06/2008 16:32

Ok I got either a 50% or 58% chance of a boy, depending upon how I guesseed the height of my bump- bit early for that, and the heartbeat, which hasn't been checked yet. SO I think I'll have to wait til my 20 week scan after all!

suiledonn · 05/06/2008 17:05

vbab and pinkyminky that is exactly the worry in my mind - that I will go tomorrow and be told there is no baby! I know it is crazy because then why was I throwing up for weeks. I think it is because on my last pregnancy I was admitted to hospital and had a scan at 11 weeks but this time with all the mix up I haven't been in the system yet at 17 weeks.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/06/2008 17:54

I think you have a good point there, Suiledon. I was in and out of hospital with the HG with my other two, and MW kept reassuring me all was well- I haven't had this this time around. you're having to wait so long to see your baby.

bubbaz · 05/06/2008 19:12

Evening ladies,
Suiledonn hope you get a wonderful scan after all this time.
I got a 50/50 on the predictor but will prob try again at a later stage.
Chocorange - Please could I have a copy of your spreadsheet I love things like that!!
Also please coul dsomeone reind me how the wedding ring test is supposed to work??
*Pinkyminky & Ceebee I a also from the North albeit a little higher than you but would love to be included in a mini meet!
Hope everyone else is well.

suiledonn · 05/06/2008 19:16

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Hopefully we will have good news tomorrow and I will have a scan picture to show you all.

ceebee74 · 05/06/2008 19:50

Well I get 67% it is a boy so maybe my instinct is correct! Although I did have to guess the heartbeat rate since I have not heard it yet

Pinky - whereabouts are you? Is it Manchester way? A mini meet-up with Bubbaz sounds fab if we could set something up.

Suiledonn - good luck tomorrow. I felt exactly the same about wondering if there was actually going to be a baby in there. When I told my colleague that, she looked at me like I was completely loopy so I am glad it isn't just me!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/06/2008 19:58

Ceebe- yes I'm in South Manchester. We could meet up with Bubbaz- go somewhere nice for the day?

RE the bump debate:I can tell I have a proper bump now because I keep getting tumbledrier fluff and all sorts stuck to the tummy area of my clothes. But you really know you've got a bump when you are too far from the table to eat soup comfortably..

Good luck tomorrow, Suiledon!

LolaBella · 05/06/2008 21:09

Hi Guys just checking in,
All good here - baby VERY active and getting regular kicks and punches now

Anybody else still weeing alot? I'm going up to four times a night and it is really disruptive to my much needed beauty sleep - my sister tells me its good practice for when bub arrives.

Suiledon good luck for tommorrow will check in to see how you get on

Hi to everyone else xx

ceebee74 · 05/06/2008 21:13

Pink/Bubbaz - thinking about where we all live and somewhere nice - maybe somewhere round Blackpool way is somewhere in the middleish? Blackpool Zoo (I believe there is a soft play area there aswell) - what do you think?

Pinky - apologies - I know Bubbaz has a DS the same age as mine but not sure how old your child/children are?

lackaDAISYcal · 05/06/2008 21:23

Just a quick hello beofre I go off and catch up.
It is DD's birthday today so we had a wee tea party for us and a friend and her little boy, and the DCs paddled about in the paddling pool for a bit. It was lovely, and DD enjoyed, lemon cupcakes, chocolate brownies and jelly and ice cream. she was covered in jelly afterwards and had to be hosed down in the shower.

I can't believe she's one already....and that it is halfway to her baby bro/sis joining us already .

Off to have some curry and than catch up on the thread. I hope everyone is well

PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/06/2008 21:41

Sounds like a fab party Lacksadaisy!

Ceebee- Blackpool would be ok for me as I can get a direct train, but don't know my way around at all- I've never been!I will look up where the zoo is etc. it sounds good.
MY children are DS just 3, DD 19 months.

MerryMarigold · 05/06/2008 21:55

I've had similar 'feelings' of things not being right but I'm sure it is all fine, just me. It's not all the time, mainly when I am tired. It's definitely REALLY hard when you haven't seen the baby or even heard it. With ds I had a scan at 7wks and 9 wks, which was so cool and helped me fall in love. This time the hospital lost my book-in form, so they didn't even know about me at 12wks and it was looking like I'd only get the 20wks scan. I was in tears (and I am not someone who cries much!)...luckily the midwife made a mistake with my age and got me a nuchal fold scan in 2 days to be bang on my 14th wk which is the latest it can be done! That's when they told me about the triplets.

Babies aren't moving a lot though...only after I'd had about 1.5cms of champagne did they wriggle! I do get some stomach tightness when I've walked 'a lot' ie. 20 minutes! So taking it easy quite a lot...

vbab78 · 05/06/2008 23:10

MerryMarigold - Just wanted to check is it triplets you are expecting? If so "WOW" and "Cool".

PInkyminkyohnooo · 06/06/2008 00:06

vbab- MM is as far as she knows having twins- the third was one of the two from another angle. I think.

Dozymare · 06/06/2008 07:45

Morning ladies,

lacksdaisy lemon cupcakes sound yummy!!! Did you make them, and if so did you do a lemon icing??? I would love to know the recipe as currently loving all things lemon.....in fact anything with a sharp taste is doing it for me!!!

The predictions - said 50% boy...erm does that mean 50% girl?! I could have predicted that - Rubbish!!! Still, I do love those sort of things!!!!!!

As for all of you having feelings about things not being "right" as far as I know, I think everyone goes experiences this at some stage....more so if you have had problems concieving or suffered miscarriages. I have MW this morning, first appointment, still not got hand held notes....great hospital - NOT!

Really glad it is the weekend, going to take the DD's to an outdoor pool today, well it is a paddling pool with a slide, but quite big and they love it!

Have a fab day ladies!!!!!

DM x

tostaky · 06/06/2008 08:01

doctorswife which books/diaries are you reading about natural birth? I'd be interested.

58% of having a boy....

vbab - i cant feel the baby either... i am so worried... i don't know what to do... 3 more weeks to wait for my scan and check it is "there"... hopefully it will move by then...

bubbaz · 06/06/2008 08:06

Dozy if you have an M&S near you with a cafe they do a cracking lemon sponge with Lemon icing. Aso are you liking sour sweets? If so I may have a present for you
Pinky/Ceebee Blackpool is good for me just over an hour away but I like driving!! (And I now have my new car ).
Good luck today Suiledon

PInkyminkyohnooo · 06/06/2008 09:11

DM I've made thins DElia Lemon cake before and it's yummy

I don't get my handhld notes back until 20 week scan, didn't last time, either. They put the individual growth chart in it etc.

Bubbaz- I've not learnt to drive yet, so I'll get the train, no problem.

I've been reading Ina Mays guide to childbirth- it's really good.I've also got birthing from within which looks very new age but I'll give it a go!

vbab78 · 06/06/2008 09:26

tostaky - Don't be worried like silly old me was (i'm very good at advising other people but terrible at controlling my own emotions). If you have not had any symptoms of problems which I'm sure you would have been onto your midwife or doctor about things will be fine.

I've not felt baby yet but I'm not worried just can't wait to feel it.

Anyone Rotherham, South Yorkshire way?

vbab78 · 06/06/2008 09:31

I really fancy lemon cake now!

On the subject of home birth ... I like the idea of it but I think I like the reassurance of being in a hospital more and I would be more relaxed. I had a few complications at the end of DS's birth and he needed help probably being 9lb 4oz and being in the wrong position (back to back) didn't help. Even though I'm going to the hospital I intend of trying to do more at home now I know what to expect so calmer about it all.

Saying that I don't want to go to hospital really late like a friend of mine who with her 2nd was wanting to push on the way to hospital and had her DS in half an hour! Pro's and Con's I guess.

vbab78 · 06/06/2008 09:35

1 thing I can recommend is an aromatherapy bath which is the first thing I got on arriving at hospital with DS. I was in it for at least 2+ hours without any pain relief. I didn't even know they did it. So might try this at home. Half natural/half hospital.

zonedout · 06/06/2008 09:36

mmm, m&s lemon cake is truly yummy. i am a huge fan of cake (carroty/lemony/chocolatey sponge types as opposed to creamy cakes)and all this talk of lemon cake is bringing on an almighty craving...

re finding out the sex... part of me is desperate to know but the other (bigger) part loves the surprise at birth. so if i can just get through my 20 week scan without screaming out to be told then i don't think we will find out. i was convinced (as was everyone) that ds was a dd so it was quite a shock when out popped a willy . every single old wives tale pointed to him being a girl (even a faster heartbeat rate which had the midwives convinced too!) so this time i refuse to listen to it! he is a very very 'boyish' boy too! have a feeling am having another boy but did have a dream about having a girl the other night...

hope all appts today go well and those that are in states of panic manage not to stress too much xx
