artichokes sorry to hear you had worrying results. Really hope that it all comes to nothing. The rest of your results sound like they were really good. Have they given you a date for the next scan? Congratulations on another daughter.

Hotmama glad your cvs went well

theyoungvisiter · 05/06/2008 21:18

I'm also glad to hear other people have a bump as mine is freakishly huge already! - three people have stood up on the tube for me so far - that didn't happen until I was about 5 months last time!

I told one of my bosses at work and she looked pointedly at my non-existent waist and said "well yes, I did wonder..."

snorris · 05/06/2008 21:57

Artichokes-I've re-read my post and it's not very helpful . What I was trying to get across is that I know what it's like to be worrying about scan results.

artichokes · 05/06/2008 22:26

Don't worry Snorris, I knew what you were saying, I will prbably e-mail you tomorrow as I would like to hear what happened to you. Tonight I am just trying not to obsess and worry (or cry).

Thanks for all your kind words everyone .

EffiePerine · 06/06/2008 08:53

Ebay for maternity clothes sounds like a good plan

DS slept until 7am this morning! Unfortunately I had to get up at 6 for a pee and decided to have some breakfast in peace.

hattyyellow · 06/06/2008 09:21

Artichokes really sorry about your scan. It must be a worrying time for you - everything crossed. Glad you managed to find out it's another girl .

Abbey thanks for the nuchal Leeds update - you poor thing with your bladder! So glad baby's still looking good, shows how little that nasty doctor knew at the start.

That's really helpful, particulary as I had it in my head that I didn't need a full bladder at all! (doh! emoticon). It's about an hour and a half drive for us so if I keep swigging water all the way while DH drives hopefully that'll be okay. I was in so much full bladder pain for my 12 week scan I didn't know how they could possibly push the probe down on my tummy without me having an accident so I'm not relishing the thought of that again!

I also have a bump that seems to be reaching my boobs - I ended up telling several friends yesterday and some of the mums were asking me at pre-school drop off yesterday - so I guess the secrets out!

I need to go maternity clothes shopping desperately but will wait until I'm in London with family in a few weeks.

Is anyone else finding their sleep has gone haywire! I think the baby is doing lots of moving and growing at night as I keep waking up wide awake for ages, even though I'm so tired when I go to bed. I'm still going to the loo a lot as well!

southernbelle77 · 06/06/2008 10:25

I've got really bad period pains today
I'm convinced something is going wrong as I am totally paranoid. Wanted to take a test but don't want to know if something is wrong as I'm working today and couldn't cope with bad news

hattyyellow · 06/06/2008 10:29

Southernbelle you poor thing, what week are you at?

southernbelle77 · 06/06/2008 10:33

11 weeks. I sort of think I'm being paranoid but as I had an early mc in feb I can't help worrying.

hattyyellow · 06/06/2008 10:46

When would your period have been due if you weren't pregnant?

I had v.bad period pains around 8 and a bit weeks and the midwife said that this could be common around the time your period would have been due for the first few months...would this apply to you?

Have you had your scan yet? Apologies for pregnant brain, I can't quite remember..

Hope you okay.

EffiePerine · 06/06/2008 10:50

SB: I've had period-type pains as well, which I think is mostly stretching. Have you been busy or exercising? That seems to make them worse.

Are you having a 12 week scan?

Hotmama: is it today you get your test results?

artichokes · 06/06/2008 11:18

SB - I have had bad pains for a few days. Apparantly it is common around 12 weeks as the baby is growing alot and your uterus really has to start to stretch.

kayzisexpecting · 06/06/2008 11:18

southernbelle I hope it is nothing. I would try not to worry to much. Its is probably just stretching.

Some little shit set of a firework at 25 to 1 last night. I had only just got to sleep and I got woke up. It was right above our house and we thought it was a gas explosion. A lot of my neighbours were out in the street in their pjs thinking it was a gas explosion too. The police have said they cant do anything really as they cant find out who did it.

Hope you are all feeling more alive than me this morning.

Crikey - just got my results - a bit quicker than I expected!

Thankfully, the chromosome count is fine - will have to wait for 3 weeks for the final result and to find out the sex - but as of today I am officially pregnant!

As soon as I put the phone down I promptly burst into tears - I was soooooo crapping it as the risk of DS at my age is about 1 in 50.

It's my own fault for leaving it so late to have children!

What a relief!!!!

Hope everyone is doing O.K.

JamInMyWellies · 06/06/2008 11:46

SB, I too had some awful period tyep pains around 11wks and I was obsessed that all had gone wrong (I had a MMC in Feb found at my 12wk scan)I was told that it was more than likely stretching pains. When Is your scan, can you call the epu and be seen quicker? Testing doesnt change it will still show a positive result. Sending you lots of sticky baby vibes.

Kaz what a fecker, we recently moved from central London and this was a common prob buy some earplugs hopefully will block out any annoying noises.

Arti am really sorry your measurments werent the best I really hope you feel a bit more positive this morning and just remember you are going to have a lovely little girl to squish in just 6 short months.

Really pleased for all the good scan and CVS results.

Just woe another lovely dress on Ebay got to re-list the one I got the other day looks a bit mummsy which I know is ridicularse I am a mummy and am pregnant but surely a girl can attempt to look a bit sexy. Or have my sexy days gone forever

artichokes · 06/06/2008 11:53

Lovely news Hotmama. I am really pelased for you .

kayzisexpecting · 06/06/2008 11:59

Great news Hotmama!!

Thta's fab Hotmama

Kayz: we get police helicopters all year round and fireworks solidly from Oct-Jan, but now I sleep through most of them! There's a lot to be said for having a baby that doesn't sleep for 15 mo - not much will disturb me now

(but please God let this one SLEEP!)

southernbelle77 · 06/06/2008 13:13

That's great news Hotmama.

Sorry to hear about the eventful night Kayz.

I've stopped stressing (so much!) now. Pains have subsided a bit and there's nothing I can do anyway so stressing will only make it worse. Scan is next Friday so will hold out til then and just hope for the best. My period would have been due next week (ish) and I always got pains the week prior so that might explain it.

Been busy carrying new baby around this week so that might explain it too. Haven't been carrying anything round that much for a while!

southernbelle77 · 06/06/2008 13:16

When I say 'new baby', I mean 9 month old and a bit on the weighty side (in a nice way)

Effie, do you live in my road by any chance?! .

I did draw the line when my bastard lovely but ditzy neighbours decided to have a party at 3am in the room above us a couple of weeks ago. I put up with it for an hour and then sent DH down to have a word.

I was going to go myself but decided I might embarrass myself by sobbing down the intercom and shrieking things like "I hope when you are pregnant and knackered and haven't had a full night's sleep in 2 and a half years that some cowy 20 year old plays drum and base above your room at 4am". Would have probably worked but might have made neighbourly relations a bit strained.

kayzisexpecting · 06/06/2008 14:12

My neighbour in the flat next to ours used to do that too theyoungvisiter until I took a 4 day old DS that he had just woken up round there at 4 in the morning screaming and said "The next time I can hear your music I will be ringing the police and telling your mother"

He has never played loud music again since and I have never told his mum!

OP posts:
theyoungvisiter · 06/06/2008 14:24

like it Kayz! Unfortunately no mothers to tell, in our case. They are sweet Australian students (living in a very posh 3 bed house in north London - not sure how that works ?)

I think they were just very, very drunk and happy, they did bring round flowers the next day which was sweet... of course it might have been the thrilling effect of seeing DH in his pants, rather than pity for my sad pregnant exhaustion...

majormoo · 06/06/2008 14:45

great news hotmama

theyoungvisitor-your DH must look good in his pants if you got a bunch of flowers out of it.

Southernbelle glad you are feeling better.

Told a friend my news today and she said 'well I had noticed you had put on weight' great.

my back is killing me-I think from picking DS up too much. But would do you do with a 20mnth old?

minster · 06/06/2008 15:34

Hotmamma that's fabulous news! I had a CVS with my daughter - not age related but I had a 1 in 16 risk of DS from the quad scren - bit stressful is an understatement

I'm nearly 11 weeks now, sickness is still really bad (I have a feeling it's a girl this time) & I'm knackered (went to bed at 8pm last night), & my skin is awful, it's like being 14 again but we heard the hb yesterday which was pretty cool . I need to think about booking my 12 week scan soon.
