Not washing the clothes would be slummy, not ironing them is just laziness but hey I am not going to die thinking that I could have done more (any) ironing.
My mother always looks slightly shocked when I point out that the wrinkles will drop out after a couple of hours wear.....

train commute I am lucky with, SW trains do a free upgrade to first class if you are pregnant and the rest of the train is full (guess who has just stopped even bothering to find out if the rest of the train is full!) The tube is the bad bit, I don't mind not being noticed if someone is reading a newspaper/book it's the people who LOOK RIGHT THRU ME that annoy me, also the fact I have to take 2 tubes makes me even more sorry for myself (I am sure when I am pregnant again PLUS looking after toddlers I will be looking back at these days as the easy times!)

Libra1975 · 09/06/2008 12:35

Mummywannabe - sorry but, LOL!

Umlellala · 09/06/2008 12:40

We have just got all our baby stuff down from the loft (dd is loving it) - and the baby clothes are VERY wrinkled... but really, ironing baby clothes? That is just ridiculous isn't it?

Libra - that sounds GREAT about the train upgrades... I find if you ask, you get! I am not sure if it's much harder with a toddler in a way - you kind of forget sometimes that you are pregnant which is nice. I hated the LOOK AT ME I AM PREGNANT self-consciousness espesh first time round... now at least the look at dd (and her noisy singing) instead

isaidno · 09/06/2008 12:40

Just uploaded photo of my knitting on my profile page.

Sorry to hear about people's terrible tube journeys. I am so glad I have finished work and don't have to do any of that.

Re - sore nipples when bf - I found bepanthen nappy cream very good for healing them. You used to get a free sample in the bounty bag from the hospital - don't know if you still do. It is safe to use and you don't have to wash it off before feeding. I do have some samples of the miraculous lansinoh to try this time.

pigley - there is always someone you will be compared to; you just have to be confident in your own decisions to let it pass you by.

isaidno · 09/06/2008 12:40

I love ironing btw... but have enough of my own I'm not collecting any of yours!

Libra1975 · 09/06/2008 12:43

aww that cardigan is really sweet, plus I love your hair in the last photo (you're going to tell me that's from your last pregnancy now aren't you!)

shortshafe · 09/06/2008 12:49

Congratulations TJuice family, she's just gorgeous!! Am so glad she waited until you were all ready for her, she's a real honeymoon baby!!

re mums and families, my mum cheefully informed me that dd comes first, as she is first born and first grandchild, and ds to be will just have to live with that! bless her, I think she meant it well...

yesterday my 18 yr old sister also told me I am f*ing horrible when pregnant - because I asked her to wash up ater I'd cooked us a roast dinner while dh sorted dd's bath and bedtime! bless her. I'm disowning mine temporarily when they're teenagers!

great advice on breastfeeding - will have to keep that info somewhere! Last time I managed 6 weeks before introducing some formula, then another 6 weeks of mixed feeding - hardest thing ever IMO, just didn't see to come naturally to either of us! My mum liked to tell me what a breeze she found it, and advised me to 'push through the pain barrier'. Very Useful!

so...who's next then? I'm up for anytime after 4th July when I finally stop work!

pigleychez · 09/06/2008 12:53

isaidno-Lovely cardi
My knitting is squares to make a blanket but im sure its not going to look as good as your first blanket!
A cardi just seems soooo out of my league!

Mummywannabe- trying to break into someone elses car! tut tut

well just finished the ironing and sitting down to a bowl of fresh pineapple and strawberrys. Very refreshing in the heat. I usually love the sun but find i just cant sit out in it any more..I used to be such a sun worshipper!

LilyToTheB · 09/06/2008 12:55

Hi everyone!
Haven't been on here for ages! Finally moved house though - yay!!
About 3 weeks ago, suddenly heard that the people buying my place wanted to exchange the following week! So we hadf a mad rush to find somewhere to live, pack and sort everything out.
So happy it's finally done now though, such a weight off my mind, and it's so nice to be in the new place finally!
Still got loads of unpacking to do and the nursey-to-be is currently full of boxes that need sorting through, but the hard part is over! (until the birth that is )

So, how is everyone doing? Has anyone had their babies yet? TJuice did I see?

Wow, I still can't get my head around the fact that I could have a baby in a few weeks.
35 weeks tomorrow and feeling ok, getting really tired and achy and the sickness seems to be back(??) but otherwise good.

Take care all
xxx

JODIEhavingababy · 09/06/2008 13:00

Welcome back Lily, Peanut had her baby too, a little boy called Charlie! It's all starting to happen!

I've just noticed it won't be long before we need a new thread! 4 weeks, we've done alot of chat!

Oh I wonder how many new babies there will be in 4 weeks?????

LilyToTheB · 09/06/2008 13:03

Peanut too? Aah how lovely, I'll have to back track and read the old posts to catch up on all the gossip.

On one hand I'm jealous they have their babies already, but on another, I still don't feel at sll ready, so much to arganise before the baby comes! But then do we ever fell ready?

Wow, I'll bet there'll be lots more babies in 4 weeks!! How exciting!!

mummypig · 09/06/2008 13:07

Isaidno that cardi looks lovely. I've been feeling all crafty recently, due to spending loads of time at home. Started cutting out some pattern pieces for a baby blanket and then realised the measurements in the book just didn't add up, so have had to redesign it myself. Dp can't understand why I would want to make one instead of just buying one, but it keeps me busy . I am even considering trying my hand at cloth nappies and perhaps some summer shirts for the boys.

I am so glad I don't have to catch public transport to and from work any more. I did it in both pregnancies and the worst was coming home on the District line at the same time as loads of Chelsea supporters going to a Wednesday match. I told one man "please don't push me, I'm 5 months' pregnant" and he said "well you shouldn't be on the tube then" .

Congrats to mummywannabe on your essay result.

Had another 'surely it's any day now?' comment this morning which I tried not to get too riled about.

Pigley luckily I get on well with my sister, but we both agree our mum is getting more eccentric as she gets older, and often says things without thinking about how they will affect the person she's talking to. Most of the time we take it with a pinch of salt but sometimes she says quite upsetting things.

Dp does 99% of the ironing in our house as it's usually only his shirts that need doing. If we're both feeling lazy we take them over the road to the launderette where it's 75p a shirt .

ISAIDNO, Cardi looks fab! Wish I had the patience to knit would be nice to feel like I've achieved something!

RE. Ironing... I've not touched the iron since pregnant with DS It's all DH's stuff anyway!

sweetkitty · 09/06/2008 13:18

Lily - welcome back sounds like you have had a stressful few weeks, time to take it easy now.

Jodie - I think my LO bounces in and out of my pelvis, all of a sudden I will get shooting pains in my fanjo ouch, still have a bum right under my ribs on the right hand side. No let up on the blasted acid reflux though.

pigley - glad your sister and neice are doing well, I know exactly what you mean about mums, when I was pregnant with DD1 my Mums best friends was pregnant with twin boys, all I used to get was "Louise is doing this, the twins are doing this" drove me mad too. My Mum has this thing about boys being better than girls and that everyman wants a boy and that a woman is not a real woman until she has a boy (I kid you not she actually believes this) DD1 she was a bit interested in as she was first grandchild, DD2 was completely forgotten about (in fact she told me that "my Aunt" thought that it was a boy and I was only telling everyone it was a girl (WTF?) so now I'm having girl number 3 she is completely not interested. Sorry am ranting could be here all day ranting about my mother.

Mummywannabee - congrats on the essay, what are you studying again? You probably have said about 20 times but I forget. I am always in awe of you ladies that are pregnant and studying my brain turned to mush a long time ago. I finished the ironing this morning whilst DDs at nursery so basket will be empty for all of a day. I think I am forgetting how to drive after stopping at a green light the other day, the next day I tried to pull away up a hill in second gear then wondered why the car had stopped (stalled) then I forgot what to do if you stall - honestly I shouldn't be allowed out by myself.

isaidno - thats a lovely cardi well done lasinoh really is worth it's weight in gold, I still have some left over from last time, you need so little of it and usually just at the start when your nips are a bit sore. Even with DD2 who was born to breastfeed I still found the first week my nipples took a battering and latching on was painful for about a minute, this time I will be slobbering it on as soon as she is born.

I'm sad I showed DP where the babies clothes were kept and he laughed at them all neatly folded and ironed it will be the last time they are ironed but it's the novelty of ironing those little white vests.

The trampoline is supposed to turn up today which is great considering DP won't be able to build it up until the weekend, he has warned me not even to touch it.

I am off now am clearing out the DDs toys they have so much rubbish, they have too much they never see the bottom of the toy boxes.

pigleychez · 09/06/2008 13:26

SK- I love trampolines! Next door have one that i used to have the odd bounce on but not now

Would love to have a quick go but not sure what baby would make of it!

Anyone else find themselves being given a widebirth in shops. Lately and especially by men i find they look at me and seem horrified that im about to pop there and then in front of them. They move pretty quickly out of the way in the supermarket ( which can be good!) Even DH picked up on it the other day.

DH and I are meeting up with B and SIL tonight and going to see Harry Hill live which should be a laugh! BIL has joked that hes not sitting next to me in case i laugh too much and start labour!

Wow - so much has gone on!!
Congratulations TJuice - beautiful baby xxx well done. I agree Lansinoh is brill and some great bf advice form Kaz.

Had first monitoring session this morning. All is okay - baby active enough and heart fine...still have urine infection though and mega strong BH! More monitoring on Thursday xx

mummypig · 09/06/2008 13:55

pigley lol about the men moving out of your way. I went to a school thing last Friday and a parent who is also a GP said to me "don't sit next to me, I haven't delivered a baby for ages".

Also when I was pg with ds2 I tried to get a taxi from the service down the road and the man in the office looked horrified that I was travelling around at all. I swear he quoted me an extortionate price to put me off. I didn't take the taxi in the end so it worked! I think it was about a month before ds2 was actually born though.

Libra1975 · 09/06/2008 14:37

SK - I am getting exactly the same as you, I keep thinking phew it's in the right position and then it goes back to transverse. grr. Last night I had a new pregnancy symptom where the stomach acid was actually in my mouth. that was revolting. Please tell me you have a safety net around the trampoline!

I have just bought some newborn socks from Gap as apparently they are the bees-knees of baby socks.

I am so lucky with both my mother and MIL. Funnily enough my MIL commented to me yesterday that "you obviously don't feed him at home" referring to the fact my DH was stuffing himself with sandwiches at the cricket tea and then looked HORRIFIED at what she had just said and tried to cover her tracks by saying he could cook etc. I just laughed as I know she wouldn't have meant it horribly!

everyone keeps asking if my DH is going to deliver the baby as he is a doc. NO. He is going to be up my end telling me how amazing I am whilst someone qualified is down the other.

Very quickly - has anyone here used a Skip-Hop changing bag? If so which one and any good?

Minkus · 09/06/2008 15:02

Sweetkitty I have done the same ad ironed all the babys things- but it too will be the first and last time they get done! They just look so nice and teeny when they're crisp and folded.

I'm looking after my 10 month old godson today, it's done me the power of good as I'd forgotten how much easier babies are than pre-schoolers so I'm not panicking quite as much about whether I'll cope with two! I forgot that they nap more than ds (one first thing, one after lunch in this case)

I've been getting "the look" of horror too- although it's mainly from women today who are plainly really really sorry for me as they think I've got one small child and am about to pop with another . Had to explain to the checkout lady earlier in the supermarket that my lovely little godson is not mine (very sadly too as he's gorgeous and I want to eat him all up whenever I see him. His parents told me yesterday that this is the first time he's been looked after by anyone outside their family and so I am feeling all puffed up with pride that they think I'm good enough for their little man! So silly.)

Pigley I am sitting in the garden too with a bowl of fresh fruit and yogurt. Mmmmmmmm!Fresh pineapple here also, worth a try! 36 weeks today and just beginning to enjoy being preggers, typical.

Minkus · 09/06/2008 15:07

Libra I agree with your sources about Gap baby socks- they actually stay on which is more can be said for most of the others! (Gymboree are pretty good too, although you have to order them from USA and beware of getting horribly addicted to matching everything into outfits. I did with ds and he was like a little doll with his themed coordinated shorts/tshirts/hats/socks, what on earth was I thinking!)

sweetkitty · 09/06/2008 15:46

Trampoline still not arrived yes it has a safety net and I will be gutted when the DDs and DP are on it and I'm not!

Oh I love when you get this big and you can stop in shops and go "what was that?" freaks people out no end. Another one is when people say "so when are you due?" and you reply "a wee last Thursday!" freaks them out too. They think you are going to have the baby there and then.

libra1975 - I have the exact same thing it's acid reflux the acid in your mouth, sipping milk can make it a little better either that or it's the dreaded Gaviscon. Someone else may have another remedy (please). As I'm now on number 3 I expect the baby to be bouncing about and never engage fully DD2 never did, can you imagine she was 9lbs 3oz and my bump never dropped, actually in fact I never felt DD1 drop either. Anyway in the case of DD2 it never did any harm during labour so I'm not worried.

Thanks for the tip re Gap socks, I have some Adams ones but I agree they can be a nightmare to keep on, it's OK in this weather they can have bare tootsies. Also you get those little baby slipper things which fall off too. I hate babies in proper shoes but sometimes a little soft pair are a godsend for keeping their feet warm in the winter by keeping their socks on.

I have finished sorting out every toy/book/dressing up bit in this house! Am shattered now. Good thing is I found loads of toys that DDs haven't seen for a while so kept them busy. Found all the bits of tea set and plastic food so had to have my "lunch" about 5 times upstairs. Bad news is they have all these "new" toys and are still fighting. I have left them to it to MN.

TJuice · 09/06/2008 15:51

hi ladies

just lost my epic, fully detailed birth story!!!

can't believe it.

will do condensed version soon.

still in last night's pjs but am very happy right now. thanks for the great bf tips, and all that great info kaz

my mum did bring me lansinoh and as per kitty's advice, i slapped it on immediately. do think it helps with healing (the nips do heal up very quickly, thank god)

anyway, will redo epic birth story soon but in the meantime, more pics on profile.

sweetkitty · 09/06/2008 15:54

Aww Tjuice how cute does she look? I want mine now well not right now give her a few weeks more putting weight on.

Nipples are great things and will heal quickly, if no ones about another tip is to go braless and just let the air get to them.
