OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
eandz · 08/05/2008 20:26

oh wow. your soo disciplined!

no one in this world can make me leave my bed if i'm not good and ready. NO ONE! you know my mother she's a consultant in the states and she doesn't wake up for anyone...I can't believe that she's actually successful! and with every child she had, she's never woken up past 9 am even during her training days....and she goes to bed at 11:00pm as well. I envy her sleeping pattern.

my dad bottle fed every infant in the house. and he got us all ready for school every morning.

meglet · 08/05/2008 21:31

deb and eandz I was wondering about starlight too yesterday, but am pretty sure she is away for a couple of weeks.

Have decided to finish work on 17th July, got loads of leave so will have a couple of weeks of that then start maternity leave. I hope the weather is still lovely then. I had a pub lunch today at work and it was wonderful sitting outside getting brown, I look a million times better . Will dig my bikini out and get some sun on my poor neglected white body this weekend.

carrieon · 08/05/2008 21:35

On the earlier topic of shoes, I pretty much live in my pink birkenstocks (don't think I look like a butch lesbian) but also have some summer sketchers which are as comfy as a trainer, but don't look like them.
I'm bidding on lots of skirts on ebay but the prices keep going too high. I want a decent summer wardrobe!!

eandz · 08/05/2008 22:48

birkenstocks aren't really lesbian wear, it's just the way i look in them. i don't know why...i think it's because instead of pregnant... i look stocky and mannish. hence wearing the birkenstocks make me look a little bit more masculine than god intended and i just feel insecure.

i'm pretending that my lack of looking for a job is due to my god given mat leave. not sure if this is really the attitude i should have since it's quite an expensive one. i really do need to become a contributing member of society soon!

DebitheScot · 09/05/2008 09:32

wow, first post of the morning. Feeling a bit better today although could still do with more sleep. It feels very stuffy in my classroom but a couple of the kids commented on that too so I don't think its just me.
meglet you're very optmiastic that it'll be sunny in Basingstoke this weekend.

eandz · 09/05/2008 09:57

my real 20 week scan is in a few hours. i can't wait.

MissusH · 09/05/2008 10:10

morning all

Is anyone else feeling really really hot?? I am hot all the time with the occasional even hotter flush!!

I do know you get hotter during pregnancy but I didn't think it would be so soon... (although I do remember scraping ice off my car when pg with dd wearing short sleeves at around the same stage!!)

Good luck with the scan eandz - mine is next Friday...

Sunshinemummy · 09/05/2008 10:18

MissusH I am normally the wimpiest person in the world when it comes to being cold, but I'm permanently hot during this pregnancy. I keep over-heating on my commute and having to take off as many clothes as I can in an effort to cool down!

MissusH · 09/05/2008 10:21

Phew, not just me then sunshinemummy .

when I get the flushes I have to sit down until it passes otherwise I would keel over!! Luckily I drive to work so have sunroof and both front windows open to get a bit of air. Unfortunately it means arriving at work with massive scarecrow hair....

becaroo · 09/05/2008 10:49

Hello all.

Back from Lanzarote at last....

Sorry to hear your news mama

Glad yo are all ok. I am shattered, only got back yesterday evening.

Bump seems ok, moving around etc.

Scan on monday!!!! yay!!!!

hopefully · 09/05/2008 11:15

Man, I wish i was getting too hot! I'm just about feeling at a nice temperature with all the sun (although it appears to have given up today...), but I'm normally just as cold as normal!

I am having the most annoying day - I am constantly starving, and then every time I eat anything I get heartburn and feel really full. For about five minutes, and then I am starving again. Grrrr.

barnpot · 09/05/2008 11:31

hi all have got scan at 3pm I'm so nervous about this one hope all is ok, still kicking and moving and stuff so I know hes still there. will find out if hes a boy or girl eeekkk, strange to think I could be growing a penis?

eandz · 09/05/2008 11:41

I'm growing a penis!!! although i'm not freaked out about growing a penis i am a little freaked out about vaginally delivering him with it. maybe i'll talk myself into an elective c-section? but i hear you don't get those stomach muscles back?

Inquisitive · 09/05/2008 11:42

We had our scan yesterday - all fine, and we're having a BOY! I've been thinking of it as a "him" all along, so I wasn't surprised. Although I'm still always a tiny bit surprised when they put the scanner thingy on my tummy and a picture of a baby pops up on screen - OMG, it really is a baby in there!

The sonographer thinks my original dates based on my LMP are probably more accurate than my 12 week scan dates, otherwise he's a big 'un. (My dates make much more sense to me, I must say).

Have added myself to the list:

Sunshinemummy · 09/05/2008 11:48

I got the growing a penis thing badly with DS - was very weird to think about.

I also got the scan baby thing. In fact when I went for the first scan, they put the probe on my tummy and DS popped up straight away and I said loudly "oh my god it's a baby!". I think I expected it to still look like a prawn at that stage.

Eandz I never had any stomach muscles in the first place so having a CS hasn't made any difference to me. If I could have delivered vaginally first time round I would have though, but not to be, and I'm not prepared to risk having similar issues this time.

Congrats to all and good luck to those having scans soon.

carrieon · 09/05/2008 12:50

eandz I really would try for pushing the baby out and see how you go, your body is designed to do it, you'll recover quicker than from a c-section (one friend who had a section was really upset that her other friends had got more mobile and started taking their babies to the park several weeks before she was ready). But that's just my opinion!

Am very annoyed that the sun has gone in and I've got more washing on the line outside than I have space to hang indoors if doesn't all dry by the end of the day!

One of my old school friends is coming to visit this weekend with her husband, I'm soooo excited, I can't wait to show her all of dd's tricks coz she hasn't seen her since Christmas when she was only 8 months old. Its gonna be a great weekend whatever the weather does!

imoscarsmum · 09/05/2008 13:06

eandz both my sister's DC were c-section, her body just wouldn't dilate enough. She found it very hard afterwards (can't drive for 6 weeks, no lifting etc) so I'm really hoping for a vaginal birth.
Don't worry too much - this is my first and I've been doing lots of reading and I'm feeling generally OK about the birth. Key is to be open-minded IMHO.

My plan is to have a damn good go, use breathing and musics etc to stay at home for as long as possible, then head to hospital for water birth and gas&air. That's my plan - I'm open-minded cos I may not be allowed to have water birth if my blood pressure goes up (a bit dodgy at present) and if flumpet in danger, I'll go with whatever it takes to make him safe.
And finally, who cares about stomach muscles - you'll have a baby and a brand new family, which is infinitely more important

DebitheScot · 09/05/2008 13:08

I'm hot too. Its so stuffy and muggy today and I'm wearing too many clothes. Had to wear a vest top under my top as otherwise I'd be flashing a bit much when I lean over the desks to help the pupils!

imoscarsmum · 09/05/2008 13:10

DP and I have decided not to find out the sex of our baby & wait for a surprise. Calling him 'he' etc for convenience, but don't care what flavour he is!

Had 20wk scan on Wed and all OK, right size etc but couldn't see heart properly due to position, so I'm going back in 2 weeks for another scan! Hospital apologised but I think - fanbloodytastic! I'll never tire of seeing flumpet.
Also, as my blood pressure is dodgy, they want to give me scan at 28 and 34 weeks to make sure he's growing properly. I'm not complaining......

WombFor1More · 09/05/2008 13:12

Some tactlesslovely person has just told me I'm "bigger" than their friend who is 21wks with TWINS. Yes thanks for that Like I don't feel fat enough already......

izzybiz · 09/05/2008 13:19

wombfor1more I bought M&B magazine today, your family is beautiful!
Your boys are absolutley gorgeous! And what a lovely way for your Dd to come in to the world! Lovely name too

Do you know what flavour this one is going to be?

I went and bought a pack of three sleepsuits for my new fella today, I hope he has lots of dark hair like my other two, they are really brightly coloured!!

izzybiz · 09/05/2008 13:20

Sorry, just seen on the list you are having a boy! Congrats!!xx

izzybiz · 09/05/2008 13:20

Sorry, just seen on the list you are having a boy! Congrats!!xx

carrieon · 09/05/2008 13:35

You're not fat, you're blooming!
A camera was pointed at me yesterday and I automatically sucked in my tummy, its just second nature, then I suddenly remembered I'm pregnant and pushed it out as far as it would go!

blimey · 09/05/2008 13:58

eandZ I agree, growth scan for good growth is wierd, no one cared last 2 times, I am having a CS anyway so makes no odds to me
If I had a choice I would go for vaginal birth - you get a lovely tummy overhang with a CS scar no matter how slim you are, only option is tummy tuck to solve that one!
