Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fymandbean · 28/05/2008 11:01

no it ain't pasteurised....

shop bought Mayo has pasteurised egg in so is ok, Heinz SC isn't it's just raw egg....

Have to say I'm partially with LG&T on this one. BUT I wouldn't do it with anything shop bought as you just don't know...

tobemory · 28/05/2008 11:04

Thanks for the welcomes and hello due date buddy! It is really hard not to shout it from the rooftops isn't it! We are going on holiday with my hubbies parents in two weeks and if all still well then will have to tell them as they will be expecting me to pour sangria down my throat from the minute I step on to the plane! I was really tired with my first preg. My 14 month old teething and waking up at all hours at the mo so can't tell if I am preg knackered or just knackered knackered most of the time! I am a salad cream sandwich addict and didn't know it was naughty either!

scared1976 · 28/05/2008 11:11

morning all!
just back from seeing the midwife. she told me they dont recommend flying in first trimester. nightmare. i have to fly to germany, holland, ny and la in next three weeks for work. has anyone else heard that!

tinkhasabunintheoven · 28/05/2008 11:23

hi ladies have just got back from midwive was great
she is going by lmp which would make me 9 and a half weeks.
scan date coming through in next few weeks

Teuch · 28/05/2008 11:50

They don't recommend flying in the last trimester, but I ahve never seen anything about the first!

Tink - that's exciting!! Hopefully you will get a proper date at your scan!

Do not panic!!! Salad creamis made with cooked egg yolks so is absolutely fine!!

tobemory · 28/05/2008 11:55

Great news about the salad cream.

I think they only don;t recommend flying in first trimester if you have specific health issues like high blood pressure, history of thrombosis/ blood issues etc. so you should be fine!

Roll on 12 weeks!

Teuch · 28/05/2008 12:03

Anyway - if you are at all concerned about eggs, I recommend you stick to creme eggs mmmmmmm....

elkiedee · 28/05/2008 12:08

I flew to Chicago via Detroit at 10 weeks in 2006, then to San Francisco via Denver, then home to London (presumably indirect) at 12 weeks. All much longer flights. It was fine.

Glad your mw's appt was good tink. Doesn't that make you due in December? Christmas baby?

largeginandtonic · 28/05/2008 12:17

Wise words Teuch, wise words Well i would if i could eat chocolate, i have gone off it totally.

I have just booked a skip, do you think this is taking the nesting instinct too far?

moosemama · 28/05/2008 14:14

Hi everyone

Thought I'd better catch up and get this thread back on my 'active' list.

Congratulations to all the newcomers - can't believe how big the thread is now!

Not been doing too well here - feeling deathly most of the time, went days without eating at all and then survived on rich tea fingers and boiled water for a few days more (had to be the fingers, round rich teas seemed too thick!) I've also been dropping weight left, right and centre - I knew there had to be an upside to feeling this bad!

Haven't bothered phoning MW yet. Have to do it before 10wks and am now 8+3 so hopefully at least the lounge will be finished before she comes round.

My eldest DS (6yrs old) asked me if I was going to die yesterday "because you are so poorly and you look like you are going to" he then said "please don't die Mummy, I don't want you to". I explained that I am not going to die and that Mummys' poorly is just going on for a bit longer than some 'poorlies' but that I will be feeling right as rain in couple of weeks time, to which he replied "well that's all right then, it can't be a very strong poorly after all'

We are going to tell both DSs in a couple of weeks - we were going to wait for the scan but can't have him worrying like that.

fymandbean · 28/05/2008 14:45

I don't think there is any problem with flying in the 1st trimester - it can bring on miscarriage but only if it was going to be a miscarriage anyway IYSWIM....never seen anything about it affecting healthy pregnancies...

mel2005 · 28/05/2008 14:48

LG&T this is your dc7!!!!! i spent all last night stressing how i will cope with three!!!.
how do you cope? you must have a huge car?
I am glad there is another chicken keeper on here. its great still having soft boiled eggs. yummmmmmmm yummmmmmmmmm

scared1976 · 28/05/2008 14:54

hey ladies. just back from my scan. Am 7 + 3 and sure enough a lovely heartbeat! was so emotional. Really wild. Starting to feel better now like it really is going to happen!

MsSparkle · 28/05/2008 15:11

Afternoon all,

Saw the midwife this morning and she gave me a blood test >>shivers

elkiedee · 28/05/2008 15:43

scared that's lovely. I'm quite envious re the heartbeat, as this doesn't seem real yet.

mssparkle, and anyone else this applies to, if you're settled here then why not carry on posting on this thread? No doubt we'll end up with a few December and February babies.

happyathome · 28/05/2008 17:13

hugs to you,notyetblooming.
so sorry this has happened to you.
take care

tinkhasabunintheoven · 28/05/2008 17:53

r u all going to have every blood test and nuchal fold test?
i am getting nervous about hiv test was abit silly over 10 years ago and didnt use protection and now i am panacking

MsSparkle · 28/05/2008 18:51

tinkhasabunintheoven i'm sure you have nothing to worry about (hiv.) I didn't have the test this time because i had it last time and it's unlikely as i am still with the same partner.

happyathome · 28/05/2008 20:55

hope you're all ok today.
i cheered myself up and almost got my enthusiasm back today.I looked at my calender and realised i should be on stage 16 on Friday(6.4 weeks then).
If your'e the same stage and want a look, here's the website:
embryo.soad.umich.edu/carnStages/stage16/stage16.html.
it's starting to look like a baby.
then next Tue should be the next stage.
it does keep me going and make it more real as i will no doubt have to wait another 6 weeks for scan(that's if i get offer of 12 weeker).
tinkhasa....should imagine pretty slim chances of HIV,you'll be fine!good luck anyway.
I've been super paranoid all day, about whether i am zinc deficient(have white spots on my nails),and i am taking pro-natal sanatogen supplements.Anyone else taking these?.I wonder whether 700iug's of folic is good idea or overdoing it,also whether 7.5mg of zinc is enough. All other supplements only have 400 iug folic and about 15mg zinc.I know i should just trust it,as it is specified for pregnancy, but there are so many discrepancies between supplements, makes me wonder?!...might go to gp to show him my nails. Also use Nizoral shampoo, told safe by docs then on safefetus.com,classes it as risk c(dodgy?!).Just so confused.Trouble is i spend too long on internet, full of conflicting info.Drove myself insane today...so there's an example of super pregnancy paranoia for ya.I just took 400 iug folic last pregnancy.Thought i would be more relaxed this time, but no!!

MissHairspray · 28/05/2008 21:37

Evening ladies, 8 weeks today which feels like some kind of major achievement although no idea why.

Do any of you second/third/seventh timers have any uplifting stories about how you worried it wasn't the right time for you to have a baby and then when you did give birth none of it mattered anymore? I'm having to face up to the fact that our 'dream plan' to move back up North to be with our families might not happen in the next 7 months and might have to stay in our 1-bed flat in the armpit of London for a bit longer. I know we are very lucky that we can even get pregnant and I would be devastated if we lost the baby, but I do wish that our lives were a bit more sorted than they are.
Sorry to moan, i'm not trying to get sympathy but I thought some of you might have some wise words to share.
