I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Monkeydrops I thought I felt movements last night but I know it can't be movements yet. It just wind in my case. Becky is right it could be twins.

I have felt really sick this morning. I don't know if because I know the baby is fine the symptoms have kicked in.

monkeydops · 09/05/2008 11:24

Bcsnowpea - so sorry about your news. Take care xxx

as for the early movements who knows - it could just be wind but that is pretty bad too anyway! The twins things has been playing on my mind a bit. When i was pg with DS i bled at 8 weeks and they said they thought that could have been a lost twin. Don't know if that means any more or less likely TC twins again - no family history of them. B4 getting pg this time i was really into the idea but now i'm terrified at the possibility!

southernbelle77 · 09/05/2008 12:26

Well I spoke too soon! I have now had horribl nausea all morning!! Feeling a bit more relieved now. It's amazing how a bit of sickness can make you feel better

Turniphead - I'm really hoping my nearly 4 yr old doesn't cotton on too! I'm a cm so when I'm talking to people, I keep saying "the new baby that I might be taking on" so she doesn't quite put 2 and 2 together

mibbes · 09/05/2008 13:01

bcsnowpea so sorry to hear your news - {{{big hugs}}} xx
Turniphead1 how strange that your DD seems to have guessed !
southernbelle77 genuis code to use for new baby !
kayz I am having some days where I could eat a horse - last night I just couldn't satisfy my hunger, no matter how many packets of crissp I ate . No too bad today though.
Am 10+4 and feel like I definitely have a belly developing - is that too soon for #1 ? Am terrfied I'll be like the back of a bus really early on...
Have re-read post - belly may be crisp-related !!

Verso · 09/05/2008 13:07

LOL@crisp-related belly. I feel your pain , mibbes.

Just back from midwife booking and I have to say they were lovely - much better than St George's were last time (but let's not go there). Took all my details and have classified me 'high risk' due to DD's birth complications and previous m/cs. This is weirdly a relief, as I was worried they might not take me seriously - having had probs before with 'falling through the net' carewise, it's not a random worry. I was fine until they got all sympathetic about DD's birth and then I sniffled a bit - but got through it in the end!

Anyway - all is well and I'm booked in for consultant-led care. Phew!

I won't get my notes for another four weeks though, as they have to get my notes from St George's and the consultant has to review.

Blah blah... sorry for the big 'me' post!

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/05/2008 13:29

At Preschool this morning a friend of mine patted my belly. Was that the first of many public belly pats? I'm sure I was later than 9 1/2 weeks before I had my belly patted in public the last two times!

Can I ask about body hair? With my last two I noticed I became less hairy (we're talking arms and legs) when I was pregnant. I'm a little less hairy this time as well but perhaps it's still too early to tell. Has anyone else had that rather peculiar symptom? Perhaps relative hairiness can indicate gender? Less hair = boy (or at least in my case the last two times).

kayzisexpecting · 09/05/2008 14:11

I'm ill!! I have come down with an awful sore throat and headache. MW says I can only have paracetamol. If it gets worse I have to go to the doctors next week. I am like a man with man flu when I am ill, I am dreadful.

Hope everyone else is ok.

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/05/2008 14:41

Poor you Kayz. Take it easy if you can! It's supposed to be spring, where are all these winter lurgies coming from? (Both my DSs and DH have had really snotty colds.)

Disenchanted · 09/05/2008 15:35

BECKY

I have 2 boys and both times i got extra hairy with them I had a tash! PMSL! had to wax it

My leg and arm hair grw really quickly too!

Not sure about this time, too early to tell a difference yet I think

EffiePerine · 09/05/2008 15:41

I am also coldy and sore-throated atm and NOT a good invalid. DS has already had the bug and kindly passed it on to me.

Bisou · 09/05/2008 15:46

bcsnowpea I am so so so sad for you my lovely Auzzie friend It happened with me too last year so I understand your heartache. Look after yourself and please do feel free to stay as you are a most welcome part of the group. xxx

majormoo · 09/05/2008 18:20

Bcsnowpea very sorry to hear your news. My sister had a missed miscarriage last year and it was such a distressing experience. However, she is now expecting a baby in September and all seems to be going well with the pregnancy. I hope the same happens for you.

Turniphead if I were you I would still get brown spotting checked out. It is most likely nothing, but probably worth getting a scan.

snowwombat · 09/05/2008 19:41

So so sorry for your loss bcsnowpea and charliesmum22. Sending big hugs and hope your dearest are looking after you.

verso so glad your NHS experience better this time round- as it should be. Great to also hear I am not the only one who craves white bread and butter on nasty MS days (I also like vegemite in this combo, but that is a wierd Australian vice!)

kayz and mibbles today I am joining the overeating club- a brief respite from MS meant the consumption of 3 icecreams in the last hour!! At least they were mini ones, but ten minutes later I am starving! Going to make bread, butter and vegemite after getting this post finished!

Ooh mibbles Kylie is amazing live!Have a great time. I am off to a gig on Monday- The Waifs who are an Australian indie band, should be great.

Turniphead hope you are feeling better?

Becky i am still smiling at your licking floor comment- if I did that at my MILs I would end up with a mouth full of dog hair! Thank god she has a relaxed attitude to cleaning!

Bisou how are you doing? Have you sorted out the NSW health system yet? We arrive in Sydney mid June and I have no idea about how I get to see the madwives? Is it a GP or self referral? I love the Bonds singlets for nighttime boob support.

Hi to everyone else, hope those with MS are managing ok and those without are stressing too much that they aren't experiencing any MS! Take care girls and look after yourselves (or even better, make sure someone else is looking after you!).

rosmerta · 09/05/2008 21:16

hi all,

bcsnowpea I'm so sorry for you , take care and hopefully we'll see you on another thread.

turniphead glad I'm not the only one losing patience. I'm hoping next week will be better

verso glad you're getting better care this time around. Makes such a difference when people actually listen to you & pay attention!

Hope everyone's ok & the MS isn't too bad

kayzisexpecting · 10/05/2008 07:46

Morning everyone,

I don't feel as bad today. I'm hoping it is just a little bug or something. I've never had hayfever and DH thinks it could be that so I have my fingers crossed. I don't fancy feeling like this all summer.

How is everyone?

artichokes · 10/05/2008 08:28

bcsnow I am so sorry to hear your news .

kayz glad you are feeling a little better. I hope Effie feels better soon too.

Becky I had a girl last time and went ultra hairy, even my toes grew hair!!!! It all went after the birth. So far no excess hair growth with this one.

Rosmerta and Verso I think we are all a little short tempered in the early stages of pregnancy. I am def relying on CBeebies more than normal because I do not have to patience for playing repetitive games again and agian .

Well last night my DH left for two weeks abroad with work. I am ashamed to say I was a total wreck as he left. The prospect of no help with DD, or company for me, while feeling sick was too much to bare. I am soooo paranoid DD or I will get ill while he is away and I will not be able to cope. This morning I feel a little better. DD set her first test for me by getting up at 5.45am (DH does early mornings, I never do). But I persuaded her to play around my bed 'til 8am and we have only just come down for brekkie. Hopefully today will be nice. I have a friend coming round for coffee at 10am.

msdynamo · 10/05/2008 11:04

Hi kayz, you've been through the mill a bit recently haven't you? So glad you're feeling better. I've just come back from a few days hols in Somerset, very lucky with the weather.

Anyone considering having an 8 week scan? I had one at 6, but now want another. 12 weeks seems so far away!

Verso · 10/05/2008 12:43

artichokes I'm sure the thought of two weeks on your own is worse than the reality will be - though I know it must be a daunting prospect. I have to say I'm at your DH doing early mornings! Even though my DH made the early days of our marriage a trial with waking up at 5:30am now DD is getting up at 5am or thereabouts (5:15 this morning) it's usually me that has to shift out of bed to attend to her. Hmph. I suppose you will just have to keep snacking to keep the MS at bay... I'm finding nothing works at the moment on the nausea so if you find a trick, let me know!

Has anyone got one of those sleeping rabbit/teddy clocks, by the way? Do they work? Does your DC understand the concept of "IT'S TOO EARLY"?!

We're off to a barbecue later this afternoon - our first of the summer. I hope the weather will last this year, unlike last year when we had a good May and the rest of the summer was a washout.

EffiePerine · 10/05/2008 18:40

Hope everyone is having a good day, esp artichokes

Had a lovely afternoon, got out of barbeque thingy as still coldy (though improving), so had an afternoon nap then got most of the housework done while DH and DS away being sociable . I have scoffed half a melon and am contemplating supper - no idea what I want to eat...

majormoo · 10/05/2008 19:03

hope you are doing OK without DH Artichokes. It is the bedtime routine malarkey that really drags for me when DH is away.

Verso where do you get those clocks from? I have not heard of them. My DS is a dreadful early riser so when he is a bit older would be good if he knew when was too unsociably early to get up

DH bought the kids a paddling pool (only a tenner from Asda) which had a spray hole where you attach the hose. We thought it was great but DS wouldn't get in at all and DD moaned that it was too cold! Typical

I really feel that these early weeks are just going by at a snail's pace

MaeWest · 10/05/2008 19:10

Hi all - a lovely sunny day here, went out to the zoo this morning, DS had a blast.

Verso I have heard good things about the bunny clock, but think DS is still a little young (21 months). He has really settled down in his sleeping but wakes around 5/5.30 most mornings. I can jsut about handle this if he doesn't wake in the night as well.

I am loving ice-creams and marmite on toast atm (not usually at the same time )

Verso · 10/05/2008 19:32

majormoo you can get them from Blooming Marvellous or the Great Little Trading Company.

kayzisexpecting · 10/05/2008 21:02

Just got home. Went to a BBQ at my mums. It was lovely. The weather was gorgeous and it was really nice after last years flooding to be able to have a BBQ.

I can't wait to go on holiday in July. Its a great excuse to get some lovely summer maternity clothes.

Hope you have all had nice days.

nandos · 10/05/2008 21:08

hi everyone..hope all of you are doing well

well i am in the miscariage thread but heres my update:
as u guys have known, last wk they only saw a sac n a yolk and my dates are off by 5 wks so was told to do d&c.
however yesterday had spotting so went back to epu, and they found a growing embryo at 6wk measuring 5mm! how shocking cos' i thought it stopped growing altogether so the
d&c was kept on hold for now.
anyway i had another appt on monday to see if they can find a h/b.
i think the reason for this might be i was pregnant 10wks ago(cos' hpt was +ve) but miscarried and 2 wks later i ovulated again without a period! why this happens i dont know but last wk scan showed i just ovulated a couple of wks back.
to everyone reading this, hopefully you would say a prayer for me as i really need it in this moment of time.. was really upset last wk but there might be hope this time..

kayzisexpecting · 10/05/2008 21:13

nandos I will be keeping everything crossed for you. I'll be thinking of you all tomorrow and I hope everything is ok!
