BCsnowpea/Kayz I hope everything is fine with your scans.

bcSnowpea glad you enjoyed the FooFighters. I like but DH can't stand them. We always laugh about when we met at uni and I liked 'Pearl Jam' and 'Nine Inch Nails' both of which he thought were completely rubbish.

BendyBeckyLegs glad you made it through the Proclaimers at 7 months. We are going to see Hot Chip on Fireworks Night, so if all goes well with this pregnancy I am going to be HUGE.

The most rubbish 'band' (I use the term loosely) has to be 'Millie Vanilli' at Capital Radio's Best Disco in Town!! Well, it was called something like that

majormoo · 07/05/2008 18:47

I meant the most rubbish band I have seen by the way. Bad tying is what you get for trying to use mumsnet while DH gives the kids a very noisy bath

BeckyBendyLegs · 07/05/2008 19:08

Pearl Jam! Oh I remember them. I remember moshing to 'even flow' or something like that. Me and DH have totally different tastes in music: I like miserable men singing sad songs such as Cold Play, Snow Patrol, the Cure and Smiths or really boppy stuff such as Scissor Sisters, Mika, or those Proclaimer chappies whereas he will happily sit and listen to T'Pau (makes me laugh!) or stuff like Dire Straits or Rolling Stones, the Eagles (ie really blokey music!).

kayzisexpecting · 07/05/2008 19:48

I am going to see Boyzone in June and Duran Duran in July. I can't wait for either of them.

I feel really optimistic about my scan. I think because the doctors thought it was fine, it has really relaxed me now. I can't wait to get it all over with though.

southernbelle77 · 08/05/2008 08:21

I think I'm getting SPD already and I'm only 7 weeks. That doesn't bode well for the next 7 months! Last time I was on crutches and could hardly move from 28 weeks onwards and was induced early because of it.
Have ordered a support belt and midwife said she will refer me to physio so will make sure she does when I see her again in a week and a bit!
Has anyone had it this early on?

EffiePerine · 08/05/2008 09:29

bcspea and Layz: best of luck for your scans today. How scary for you.

Was feeling awful yesterday - cough and achy, had to take DS out to the park and kept having to sit down, feeling very dizzy and awful. Lovely DH took him out in the afternoon so I could go to bed, then sent me back at about 6, so have had LOT of sleep and feel much better though still coughing. At least ti took my mind off the general sickness and tiredness!

Can't face eating any meat atm - the only thing I fancy is mashed potatoes and vegetables . Only 6 weeks - ages to go yet (sigh).

Congrats on teh successful scan Mummy2olivia and hope the next few weeks pass uneventfully

EffiePerine · 08/05/2008 09:31

Southernbelle: did you do any physio last time round? I did Alexander Technique lessons throughout my pg last time and it reallyt helped with posture and back pain etc. Might be worth trying something early on before it gets too bad?m I didn't get SPD though, so may be talking nonsense

artichokes · 08/05/2008 09:55

Morning all

Good luck with your scan this morning Kayz.

I have just come back from a private early viability scan. The baby looked good (well actually it looked like an indistinguishable blob with a heartbeat but that is normal at this stage!). Hearing the heartbeat and seeing the blob really helped me start to feel somehting for this baby which is good as I was worrying that I was not feeling excited like I did with DD. The doctor put my dates back by four days, suggesting I am due on the 16th instead of the 12th, but I don't believe the new dates as it would mean we conceived 4 days after we last had sex. I know that is theoretically possible but it seems unlikely. He said dates are hard to pin down at this stage and they will give me a better idea when I go back for my nuchal. Obviously anything can still happen but it is nice to know that at the moment this pregnancy looks healthy .

Sorry for the me, me, me post. I won't compound it with long descriptions of how sick I still am...

PS The lady that went in for a scan before we found out she was having twins and was sooooo shocked. It made me quite nervous about how many we were going to see!

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/05/2008 10:26

artichokes don't worry about sending me, me, me posts (good to hear that things are looking good for you!). Mine are always me, me, me ones! It helps to read about everyone's experiences and feelings. It's so nice to know there are other people feeling the same

It's another lovely sunny day here and I am supposed to be working while the DSs are at preschool and childminders. I haven't done any yet.

HELLLLLOOOOOO!!!

I too like artichokes have a heartbeat. Its sooo sooo tiny at the minute but the heartbeat was so clear. I am so happy today.

But I feel very very sick as I get awful travel sickness on buses and I had to go on 3 to get to the hospital.

Turniphead It'll be the 4th time I have seen Duran Duran this time.

artichokes · 08/05/2008 13:05

Fantasic news Kayz. I am really pleased for you .

EffiePerine · 08/05/2008 13:12

Great news Kayz! Poor you feeling sick in the heat and on smelly buses though...

Hello Hanni22anni! Welcome. When are you due? Is this your first, second, third, or more? How are you feeling?

I'm feeling a bit more sick than normal today but compared to some I know I am very lucky.

I'm looking for houses on the internet today. We're hoping to go house hunting on Saturday while the grand parents-in-law look after the DSs.

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/05/2008 13:35

Four times is quite a lot. I've seen the Proclaimers three times. I might even walk 500 miles to see them! Ha ha ha!

katie3677 · 08/05/2008 13:37

Kayz Great news, that must be such a relief.
I am pretending to work in the garden today, but am actually mostly just lying there staring at my laptop

Hanni22anni · 08/05/2008 14:39

hi there sorry bout the long delay was enjoying a long lunch lol
I'm due 4th dec by my dates but haven't had my scan yet its my second (the first being a boy, brandon, who is now 2 1/2), i'm feeling pretty good this time round no sickness which is great relief with having a toddler to run round after how is everyone else doing

kayzisexpecting · 08/05/2008 15:29

turniphead Its not my 4th time this year(I wish it was), it's the 4th time since 2004. I saw them once in 2004 and twice in 2005 and not since then. Its is Mr LeBon who keeps me going back. I am very obsessed though. I have every album and all the DVDs and a Duran Duran tattoo. I'm going with my mum who remembers them the first time round.

I have had a long sleep this afternoon. I feelmuch much better but I am craving pizza and we don't have any

How is everyone else?

Welcome Hanni22anni

Bisou · 08/05/2008 16:03

Hi everyone,

Firstly I wanted to say to Charliesmum22 that I'm so sorry, and I hope you're going ok with your recovery after yesterday. Hope you have lovely support around you for this sad time, xxx

I also want to share some happy news, which is that I have a new niece as of today! My sister in law has just given birth to a lovely healthy little girl. And she had a MMC last year too, so it's great that things have worked out so well this time. I'm so thrilled and happy for them both!

Am loving all this music chat I'm afraid I'm a bit eclectic with my tastes and love world music at the moment, esp anything with a Spanish/Brazilian feel to it. And acoustic guitar and anything pretty with piano. Am a big fan of songs with a real tune too, so I also love all the old classics and can often sit listening to a bit of Air Supply or Cat Stevens or the Beatles or something else nicked from my dad, LOL. I also love songwriters like Damien Rice but can't listen to him too much as it can get a bit depressing...

Hooray for all the good scan results, esp mummy2olivia!!! You must be so relieved, and I can't wait to see you back here posting when you feel a bit more confidant with it all (I can completely understand you needing a bit of a break for now). I'm busting to have a scan myself to check all's ok, but have decided to be strong and wait it out until 12.5 weeks this time. bcsnowpea - how are you? How was your scan? I've been wondering how you are doing.

kayz I LOVE bunnies!! Did you know they also make a great house pet? We've had a couple of 'house rabbits' which we heartbreakingly had to rehome when we've moved to & from the UK. We found the toilet training a breeze (our UK bunny was using the litter tray after just 1 day) so you don't need to take them for 'poo walks' or let them out like you do with most cats/dogs. Ours had free run of the corridor when we weren't at home, and then when we were home, he was allowed in the rest of the house. You do have to bunny proof your cables though, as they love chewing those. But they're really quiet and lovely pets, and I so miss having one doing speed runs around my house!

katie3677 how are you holding up with the non-smoking? I have to say it's such a great thing you are doing, not only for yourself, but it is the best gift you can give to your unborn baby - a healthy start! Very unselfish indeed Keep up the good work and get support from those around you when you need it. You can do it!! Hooray to any other ladies who have done the same (kayz was it you who said you'd given up too? Well done!)

Becky I'm still laughing at the "where's the boat?" comment by your DS! I love the things kids say!

In my news things are pretty uneventful, which I've decided is a good thing. I'm still getting nausea pretty much on and off for most of the day, but can't complain too much as I am embracing any and all symptoms! I've only actually spewed once the whole time though. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better just to have a big chuck as you often get that feeling of relief after a big spew... but perhaps it doesn't work that way for MS? I wonder if anyone knows what causes it?

I bought another 2 bras today, and they are so comfortable. Is anyone wearing anything for (.)(.) support at night? I'm finding they annoy me slightly when I turn and I can feel them as they're still a bit achey and tender. I also haven't managed to ween myself off going to sleep on my front yet - don't know how I'm going to cope with that! I think it must be a hangover from when I was a baby myself, as my mum said in those days it was standard to put bub to bed on it's front side (not done nowadays of course due to risk of SIDS).

Hope you're all enjoying the nice weather over there. I used to think it was hilarious when I lived in London, that the slightest hint of sunshine resulted in so many people ditching most of their clothing for a bit of an attempted sunbake. In the public parks too... I wonder what the squirrels make of it all?

JollyBear · 08/05/2008 16:29

Hello all,

Sorry to hear your news charliesmum . Take care of yourself

Great news about the scans artichokes and kayz! It must feel very real when you see the heartbeat

bisou I bought a soft cup bra to wear at night but it hurts at the back where the claps are. So instead I am wearing a M&S secret support vest which I am finding works well.

Well I had to go to the GP earlier this week because I couldn't keep anything down, even water . They gave me anti-sickness tablets and I feel more human today. I was really upset to have to take them but I honestly couldn't have carried on feeling so dreadful.

Bisou I love your long recap posts! They make me realise how diverse our chats are. I love the term 'spew' that really does sum it up. I count myself very lucky just feeling sick all day rather than spewing.

Poor you JollyBear huge hugs to you and others being sick all day as I can't imagine how you cope. I'd be a total wimp about it I know it. I wish I could take some of it away from you. I also know people who have had to take the tablets so try not to feel guilty.

I've been ringing estate agents all day to book house viewings and washing bedlinen for the in-laws visit this weekend (and basically de-catting the whole house). My mother-in-law is one of those immaculate types whose kitchen floor you could lick should you want to (and I greatly admire people like that I'm not dissing her at all!). I'm not like that at all so I have to spend hours cleaning our house before they visit. If you licked our kitchen floor you'd be risking your life!

Kayz you make me feel old. You say your mum remembers Duran Duran. My mum was bopping to Buddy Holly when she was young! I was her youngest though and she was in her thirties when she had me and I'm ambling my way through my mid-thirties now myself...

And I've just totally burnt the DSs' tea. Bad mummy!
