VS- so sorry to hear that

elfsmummy · 29/04/2008 19:28

Carey, with my first DD I went to the midwife expecting a sweep at 41 weeks but she wouldn't do it because she wasn't engaged.

However that midwife was particularly rubbish and not keen to take responsibility for anything or indeed confidenet of any of her findings - so I wouldn't be surprised if it was an excuse.

With DD2 she was only 4/5 engaged at 41 weeks when it came to my sweep appointment and this midwife would do it.

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting

moominsmummy · 29/04/2008 21:10

VS - for your kitten

I am still here and still no sign of LO. Am in a better mood today though as I did some retail therapy at IKEA and B&Q (am a bit sad like that)

I was also very domesticated and actually ironed our duvet cover before I put in on our bed Won't be doing it ever again though -what a total faff and DH didn't even notice the difference! grrr.

am off to snuggle up in (beautifully ironed) bed and to watch Trevor Eve shout at everyone in Waking the Dead.

Carey87 · 29/04/2008 21:19

elfsmummy - fingers crossed i get a good mw then i really dont know what i would do if they said they couldnt do it on Thursday!

moomins - ironing duvet is the last thing on my 'gone mad with boredom' list

Carey87 · 29/04/2008 21:21

sorry should have added - my list is 10 items long, reached number 9!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 29/04/2008 21:36

Good luck Chipmonkey!!

VS - I'm almost in tears myself over your kitten - poor little thing...

I have been 4/5ths engaged for the last 6 weeks!!! I was really hoping the midwife would tell me something different today but no - still the same.

Hee hee - I ironed (for the 1st and last time as well!) my duvet cover the other day thinking it would be nice for baby (who was meant to arrive TODAY) to lie on! HA HA HA! Baby will just have to appreciate creased duvet covers!

My 'gone mad with boredom' list will start tomorrow... first up - scrubbing the bathroom with an old toothbrush! lol

Carey87 · 29/04/2008 21:37

i think that was number 4 for me

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 29/04/2008 21:56

tlsm had her little boy, tom, at 12.55, 7lb 8oz.

sends love to pfj, and vibes to all still waiting

will be home friday

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 29/04/2008 21:57

a question to those with babies here:

when they cry, do they wheeze badly?

wheezing for bas is a danger sign but its only when he cries and we cat remember if the others did it or not

HV coming to weight omorrow so will check but wondered?

PortAndLemon · 29/04/2008 22:15

No wheezing here...

northeastmummy · 29/04/2008 22:49

Hi Peachy - no wheezing here either. However, DD1 did wheeze a fair bit I remember. She was really pukey so it was all to do with her inhaling that when she was on her back. Not sure if that's anything like what you're finding with your LO.

What is "bas" by the way?

I hope it all goes to plan tomorrow chipmonkey and there aren't too many delays. Keep us posted with your news!

VS - such sad news about your kitten. Nature is just so cruel at times.

northeastmummy · 29/04/2008 22:52

Carey / Sagitta - reposting from earlier:

I was a bit down after my sweep last week. It felt like she barely did anything (had a sweep with DD1 and it was much more "vigorous"), I was only 1cm dilated and my cervix was posterior. Anyway, I had the sweep at 8.30am on Friday and had baby 8pm on Saturday night - shows what I know .

Denny185 · 30/04/2008 09:03

Peachy - DD1 did lots but is asthmatic and started with probs from 2 weeks. Havnt noticed with DD2 and didnt with DS.

Northeast Bas is shortening of Sebastian

Congratulations TLSM

scorpio1 · 30/04/2008 09:08

Peachy - no, no wheezing. even with or after big cry

Millie did 9-3.15; 4-6.30 last night at 6.30 we had a lying down in bed feed, only my 2nd one and she latched first time! She normally does when we do normal feeds but first time we did lying down it was a nightmare getting her to latch.

DH has gone back to work today after ye dreaded serious man flu episode. i kicked him out of bed last night for snoring, feel bit mean now but he slept on sofa with quilt so not too bad

Does anyone feel icky about their babys bellybutton? mimi's is still folding in iyswim.

Re Sweep - i had one weds at 2pm and had mimi friday at 7pm. also had sex after sweep.

Carey87 · 30/04/2008 09:42

thank you northeast and scorpio, after mine tomorrow im planning on going for a walk if im not too crampy, and then just see how it goes from there

how is everyone today?

Cxx

sagitta · 30/04/2008 09:43

Congrats TLSM! - and so sorry about kitten, VS. .

I've had no twinges since Monday,(except vomiting last night and sweep this afternoon. I understood that your cervix had to be 'ripe' for a sweep - not sure what that means exactly though. But I reckon mine is, and LO engaged. My mum is coming to stay for a couple of days, so I hope it will be while she's here...

sagitta · 30/04/2008 09:43

I'd love to go for a walk, but the weather is shocking...

Denny185 · 30/04/2008 10:14

Could you march up and down the stairs instead?

A good friend (goodcatholicgirl) had a little girl last night in 2.5 hours, she said it made her realise how painful the back to back labour was with DD1 as this one 'just slipped out like a wet fish'

Ive finally been discharged from the MWs - antibiotics are working on the scar and DD2 has put on another 11oz in the last week, little chuffer.

Has anyone started using sleeping bags yet? I have my first child who has defied swaddling, no matter what I use or how I do it shes breaking free so considering sleeping bag use - too young?

eva07 · 30/04/2008 10:24

just checking in, the acupuncture did absolutely nothing for me, not even the lightest twinge. I even slept through the night which I haven't for the last... uhm, I think 4 months or so.

congrats to tlsm and gcg, piccies asap please

denny - I thought you can use sleeping bags from birth anyway?

KnitterInTheNW · 30/04/2008 10:24

Denny, George is in a sleeping bag and has been for at least a week, he's a houdini too and escapes blankets in a matter of minutes. They only have to be 7lb to use them, as long as they're big enough to not slip inside them.

I got G weighed this week, he was exactly a lb heavier than his birth weight. The HV interestingly was saying that our council are planning to change the weight charts in the red books, because they're blaming them for having something contributing to so much childhood obesity. All the HVs I've met here have been very pro BF and all said that they're not too bothered about what BF babies weigh as long as they have wet & dirty nappies and are happy and settled. They've all been very down to earth too and speak a lot of sense. All of you with nightmare HVs should move to Warrington instead!

sagitta · 30/04/2008 10:31

For all those who have recently been through this (ie everyone apart from me and carey and Eva and Chipmonkey!) is there any significance in feeling sick, sore fanjo as if I'd had loads of vigorous sex (I haven't), and baby apparently dancing on bowel?

sagitta · 30/04/2008 10:32

sorry -and moomin and mum2be...

scorpio1 · 30/04/2008 10:33

No, sorry....though i did feel swollen down there for a while.

eva07 · 30/04/2008 10:33

has anyone else had a strange feeling on the top of her belly? it's left to my right boob, a tingling, sometimes warm sensation.
is a bit hard to describe, sorry...

sagitta · 30/04/2008 10:37

Sorry, no, Eva!

Scorpio - you probably had been having loads of sex though
