great to see you back scamp

pixie congrats!

pfj- poor you! sounds like you've been accidentally caught up in a right mess of nobody knowing what they're doing. if they don't close the file today, consider getting legal advice. i expect they will though

Denny185 · 24/04/2008 13:07

Congrats pixie, another HB, weldone.

Hello kaybee and littlemiss.

PFJ what a shite couple of days, hopefully you can see this other dr and then case closed. Not what u needed when your already a bit low.

VictorianSqualor · 24/04/2008 13:19

I'm starving too! Am trying desperately not to eat too much though and to eat good stuff but it's bloody hard when there is a bag of doughnuts on the side

MW, just been and Alex has put on plenty of weight, he is back up to 9lb 10oz now, was 8lb 15oz on sunday so she said she is happy with his gain, wants to weigh him again monday just to see that he is back to his birthweight then they'll discharge me.

Also she said about the scar, apparently it is really common for one side not to mend as well and still be quite sore, something to do with when they cut you open the doctors pulling harder on one side or something, so it's more battered than the other side.

Denny185 · 24/04/2008 13:30

Thats interesting VS the side of mine thats being really slow is the side the surgeon was standing so I suppose he could have been putting more pressure on that side. Still really weepy today despite lots of cleaning and drying time.

I'm surviving my first day without DH, even managed to do some tidying up, washing, cleaning and ironing. Just have to fit in 1 more feed before the school run. Not looking forward to bath/bedtime think it may need even more organisation than the mornings.

Denny185 · 24/04/2008 13:33

BTW thanks everyone for the free condom advice, its been so long since weve used them (somehow dont think Ill be trusting the pill again). Just figured buying them was still cheaper than no4, now will be taking a little trip to the FPC.

elfsmummy · 24/04/2008 13:44

Afternoon all from a fellow starving new mum. I can't eat enough - trying to be good but it's finding the time to physically eat that's my killer!

First day flying truely solo today and so far not too bad - In fact they are both asleep at the same time which I never thought would happen allowing me to tidy up the house MN!

DD2 got quite a nasty cold (copious green snot - which looks strange on a baby) and went really sleepy for 24 hours - was having to wake her for feeds etc. Was on the point of taking her to paeds last night when she seemed to get a little better so keeping a close eye on her today.

Kaybee - my first was an induction and second was spontaneous at term + 8. Literally the day before it all started I was convinced that my body was incapable of spontaneous labour. But it did happen in the end! I got myself in a right pregnancy hormone induced state where I was moaning to DH that I'd never get the opourtunity to make that telephone call to say I'm in labour!

Thinking of you PFJ. Hope today sorts everything out for you

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 24/04/2008 13:55

you know, i've never made that exciting call to dh to tell him i'm in labour- was desperate to this time, but he was on a holiday day; ds1 was induced, ds2 when he was around, ds3 he;d been sacked days before .....

bas has had a nasty cold too elfs, but last night i popped him on the rug whilst i used the loo, cat came in and he started sneezing badly- seems it may be an allergy. have always rescued cats so a bit about that

elfsmummy · 24/04/2008 13:56

Does anyone know anything about breast feeding with thrush? My friend has just phoned me in tears as her GP has told her to exclusively express and stop breastfeeding her 4 week old as they keep passing the infection between themselves.

I've posted a topic about it here if any of you seasoned breast feeders could add any wisdom?

elfsmummy · 24/04/2008 13:58

Your LO and mine sound pretty similar peachy. Thank the lord for the close baby carrier!!

elfsmummy · 24/04/2008 13:59

Didn't get to call DH myself either as it started at 4am - so just told him in person when he woke up to go to work.

Wouldn't that be a fab phone call to make though? Not fab enough to make me have another though

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 24/04/2008 14:03

pull up vs's profile and the number for the abm..... iirc there are bf friendly thrush treatments but that sort of info changes obv so she'd need up to date info

ever trust a gp on bf, they know zero as a rule

VictorianSqualor · 24/04/2008 14:10

I'm getting sad about you all saying no more babies
Who am I going to moan at next time? A new antenatal thread will feel like betrayal

Scampmum · 24/04/2008 14:13

I made the phonecall last time! Followed it up with an email around 4 to say I was sure this was it and to head home... around 6 started wondering where he was, so called again, and got 'just finishing up my timesheets!'

That's one for him NEVER to live down...

This time he got it all in person - the first contraction on Sat afternoon (when he naturally started strutting around the house preening himself about his supersemen), then the next 'yep, I think we should go (back ) to the hospital' at 6am on Sunday morning, then the 'I THINK these are more painful, I THINK this is it, what do you reckon?' at 5am on Monday, 1 hr before Eve was born!

Mine are both asleep, too! Think it's just the first two week babymoon for me, though - Eve pretty much sleeps all day at the mo. I kind of wish she would feed more, my boobs are about to explode. Can't quite get my right arm down to my side!

Am glad you are all starving too. I literally could not put food in my mouth quickly enough this morning. Glad DH wasn't looking, he might have mistaken me for John Prescott [apologies for Bad Taste Gag emoticon].

Thanks, Peachy - and official thanks for managing to update people on my labour when you have four kids to look after! [superwoman emoticon]

PortAndLemon · 24/04/2008 14:36

We might have another one... but would want another three-year gap so not for a while unless we have an oops, and possibly not at all. Molly is planning to pop them out in quick succession, though, so will probably be able to keep you company.

Had to call DH in Edinburgh first time around so that he could fly back down... (ah, happy memories)

Scampmum · 24/04/2008 15:15

VS - we definitely want three! I am weird and though I pretty much loathe being pg I can't bear the thought of never having another baby!

Although... we're already having to buy another car (DH's 'other' paternity leave project ) having seen how little room there is in ours with two carseats! What do those of you with 3+ drive?

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 24/04/2008 15:18

mitsubushi space wagon for us- han an espace, think we doubled the local mechanics takings that year

sagitta · 24/04/2008 15:48

welcome back scamp! You sound so upbeat! So dd1 is OK, is she? Just missing you a bit? I am starting to worry about how DD will get on. She's not good at sharing...and beat my tummy a few days ago saying 'go away baby, go away'

Denny185 · 24/04/2008 16:19

GCG - DH and i just pissed ourselves laughing at the thought of you falling in robonans grave - visions of beetle stuck on back with legs kicking.

Thanks for the tip will duely be making way to the FPC.

....................Closing door quietly on way out

Denny185 · 24/04/2008 16:20

How did i just manage to put that on here, was supposed to be on May

Scampmum · 24/04/2008 16:26

FUCKING HELL MY NIPPLES ARE SO SORE!

(excuse my french)

She's feeding every hour again. I can't remember what to do with newborns! I just feed her whenever she wants it and if I offer and she doesn't want it I just cope with my exploding boobs, right? I think she's just a bit overwhelmed by milk at the mo so she falls asleep before she can get her fill. Having said that, I seem to remember their tummies are the size of walnuts at the moment, aren't they? So I shouldn't really expect her to go 3 hours without a feed...

ps thanks Sagitta - I feel really upbeat! Am sure it's just a grace period... I remember it was after DH went back to work last time that it suddenly got really hard.

DD1 (! - can't get used to that) OK but does seem to need the extra attention. Thank goodness for the bank holiday so Evie should be nearly 2 1/2 weeks by the time I have to do a whole day by myself (since DD1 at nursery tues/weds/thurs am). Oh, whoever asked, they are 2 years and 2 days apart!! DD1 19th April, DD2 21st.

Scampmum · 24/04/2008 16:28

ps I am having trouble with the maths... 1 tummy the size of a walnut... 2 boobs the size of watermelons - how is that supposed to add up?

VictorianSqualor · 24/04/2008 16:29

Yes Scamp, feed whenever she wants it, and try not to let her go over 3hrs(ish). She needs regular feeds atm.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 24/04/2008 16:33

scamp, express some with your hands to relieve it, you can also (sounds crap but works) pop a couple of savoy cabbage leaves in the fridge, then use them to line a bra to reduce discomfort.... not only will you be happier you'll also be caterpillar centrefold of the month

3 hours is a bit hopeful ime, ds4 is more like hourly, most days he has one stretch of 3 hours and then sleeps well at night. today its just scream and eat though

PortAndLemon · 24/04/2008 16:33

No, no, Denny, that's OK... you just go and hang out with your real friends in May, don't mind us..

Scampmum... you forgot

Almost infinite amounts of poo and wee

(generally, in DD's case, produced as soon as her nappy is removed... DS used to wee everywhere whenever you took off his nappy, but DD seems to have a similar talent for poo)

scorpio1 · 24/04/2008 16:56

get some lanolin nipple cream, its lush

PFJ - i am so and for you. keep your chin up, lovely. we are all here.
