Sazzles you are naughty. I had completely forgotten Debenhams do maternity wear. Although what is annoying is the amount of shops that don't have maternity range instore. Currently I'm spending more on delivery than on clothes

dizzydixies · 29/04/2008 11:40

have you ordered online from dotp - there is a product discount code if you hven't ordered them already

I actually bought the top in the shop on Friday. Plus the way the seams on it are could be taken in for post baby figure, whatever that may be

Shazza2002 · 29/04/2008 11:45

My thoughts exactly sazzles. I think it's discriminating against us already vulnerable ladies I made a huge order to simply be, the whole lot had to go back, not one thing was suitable. Partly my own thought because even though they do say order your own size for maternity clothes I just didn't trust them But they were just genuine bad quality.

dizzydixies · 29/04/2008 11:48

was the same shazza, all the stuff I ordered from crave/simply be/ isabella oliver etc all went back, cost a farking fortune in delivery/returns costs!! then got my stuff in sodding matalan - go figure

Shazza2002 · 29/04/2008 12:20

I know it's just unfair. I'm actually going to buy 2 more pairs of the linen trousers from New Look as they are so comfy, and I know they will probably be thread bear by the time 'summer' arrives. They do go a bit loose after a few hours wear but they have belt loops so that helps.

VintageGardenia · 29/04/2008 12:54

Ooo shoparama. I am wearing mostly my sister's maternity gear, most of it fab except a couple of tops too tight across the bust, she has a far superior figure to mine! I don't have any more big events coming up (I don't think!!) in the next couple of months so thank Heavens I won't be struggling with party gear.

Has anyone bought mat. pj's? I look highly unattractive in bed in baggy t-shirts, or pj bottoms under bump and vest top riding up over ribs, with great BioOiled bump sticking out of the middle like an uncooked pizza dough. But cannot bring self to fork out for pj's (or swimsuit, needed). Am fascinated reading contents of everyone's mat. bag, nothing like a good nosey in someone else's luggage. I haven't got mine planned yet but will post details asap. Do you think would be amibitious to bring few choice books into hos?

VintageGardenia · 29/04/2008 12:56

I like that black heart print dress on the Deb's link from Saz but think might be showing bit too much knee.

VintageGardenia · 29/04/2008 12:57

Too much knee for ME I mean, I'm sure all your knees are exfoliated, fresh-looking wrinkle- and sag-free zones.

cyteen · 29/04/2008 13:40

I'm a bit jealous of all the shopping that's going on, even despite the trials - being the cheapo that I am, I've only bought one thing! A pair of Red Herring maternity jeans. Am making do with trousers that were already too big for me, a stretchy skirt and a lovely bronze nylon dress that I have had for 12 years Think I might splash out and buy another pair of trousers soon.

Well, I think it's safe to say that today is an eating day - so far have had porridge with blueberries and prunes, a veggie samosa, have a pan of spag bol on the stove for lunch...I believe this is what my pregnancy manual euphemistically refers to as a 'hearty appetite'.

TwilightSurfer · 29/04/2008 13:42

Morning

I see clothing is still the number one topic today.

Dizzy, I too find it hard to convince my DD to hack up the junk as we call it. She of course tells me to do it everytime I cough. I politely show her how each time in the hopes that she'll LEARN FROM THE MASTER. Allergy season is no time for princesses.

DD is not present and stomping her foot because I've yet to replace the box of pancakes she ate last week. I'm so TERRIBLE!!

Hey VG, I got a plain superstretchy maternity swimsuit for about £3 off Ebay.

I'm so lacking the gumption to do anything at the mo, can just about manage the schoolrun, toddler group and DS's assessment thingy. Have to do some housework by Thursday as I have another pre-school meeting here. Can't wait to ditch some of my flippin do-gooder commitments TBH! As of this summer I will no longer be Dep Treasurer and Fundraising 'Patsy.' Have rewritten my nappy website as purely information so people will stop asking me to do demos. Got that eco-fayre thing over this weekend, now I've just got the pre-school fete in a couple of weeks and I can relax and get all this crap out of my house for good! Still distributing NCT newsletters though but at least I'll have the car back by then to do it, fingers crossed.

now present NOT not present

The past week or so my appetite has increased hugely.

Today so far, slice of toast, croissant, 1 weetabix, jacket potato with chilli and cheese and I've now just opened a kit kat. I could also call it heart appetite but I think the word heffer is more appropriate

TwilightSurfer · 29/04/2008 14:07

Shazza I like your menu today.

Don't get your hopes up too much Sazz...I have to wear an under-the-bump belt with mine, otherwise they end up round my ankles

TwilightSurfer · 29/04/2008 14:38

Has anyone started their kick counts? Doc said beginning at 26 or 28 weeks I'm suppose to count the number of kicks in a two hour period once a day. Has anyone else been instructed to do the same?

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 29/04/2008 14:42

I've given up on Jeans. All of the maternity choices at the local shops are CRAP and the last large size pair I purchased are about too small now...I give them one more week then they will be retired.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 29/04/2008 14:42

Good idea re just stretchy cheapy things, also ebay, which I never think of for some reason! No Sainsbo's but alternatives. Never heard of the kick count TS, what are you supposed to aim for? I am about 27 weeks I think, have slightly lost track. Have active and inactive days - or at least days when I am v busy and don't notice.

dizzydixies · 29/04/2008 14:46

I thought kick counts were for much later on? once again wrong lol
I am getting a whole lot of movement every night at about 10 or 11pm so this one destined to be a night owl apparently

VintageGardenia · 29/04/2008 14:47

Dizzy you and me are about the same I think, you due end July me 1st Aug?

VintageGardenia · 29/04/2008 14:47

Are kicks meant to mirror future sleep patterns? Am in for a lot of early mornings then ...

dizzydixies · 29/04/2008 14:52

yup, last date I was given was approx 30th july so am just taking it as another week on the monday iyswim? on mon I was 27wks, next mon will be 28 - its too farking complicated to work out otherwise as my dates don't tally exactly because of weird menstrual cycle

I think you're meant to keep a track of how many kicks you get later on in pg to make sure the baby is active and some say if baby is moving/kicking at regular times then this can follow onto its sleeping pattern once born

can't remember if that was true for either of mine
